Which platform you are installing this?,
During the db installation phase -
I hope you are installing the oracle using the SAP script (under the SAP directory) instead of the oracle's "runInstaller". Let me know.

I've checked this directory and I did not find the folder sapcheck. that is because my sapcheck is located in a different drive (E:). why is sapinst looking at the wrong directory and how can i point sapinst to use drive E instead?
i was thinking maybe i could copy the folder sapcheck from drive E to drive d and continue with the installion. what will be its impact if i do this?
by the way, my OS is windows 2003.
    please advise.

It seems that while defining the Path of SAP and Oracle there is something wrong that's the reason it is looking somewhere else. If you will copy from E Drive installation will continue but it will be keep searching on D drive everytime. As you are on initial stage to install a new System i would suggest to stop the installation Master and start it from Scratch and define the FIle System Directly once again as you want.

But I get the same message again as above.
Do we need to set the ORACLE_HOME env variable in the BASH_PROFILE directly??? Coz I heard that if we set it with the Export command then the env is set only for the current instance and not permanently.
If so what is the exact entry I need to make in the BASH_PROFILE???

    Hi All,
    I Found the Solution.
The SAPinst tool was somehow not able to extracte the
J2EEINSTALL.SAR files from the JAVA Components DVD.
So I manually extracted the the file in the temporary install folder which the SAPinst creates in the /tmp filesystem (on LINUX by deafult) during the installation process.
The following command is used (I used this on Red Hat LINUX 5.2) to extract the J2EEINSTALL.SAR file:-
    /sapmnt/SMD/exe/SAPCAR
    -xvf /dump/SR4_Java_Components/D51033521/DATA_UNITS/JAVA_J2EE_OSINDEP_J2EE_INST/J2EEINSTALL.SAR
/sapmnt/SMD/exe/SAPCAR -->source directory of the file SAPCAR which is used to extarct CAR / SAR files on UNIX
/dump/SR4_Java_Components/D51033521/DATA_UNITS/JAVA_J2EE_OSINDEP_J2EE_INST/J2EEINSTALL.SAR--> destination dir. where the SAPinst tool will read and execute the file.

  • SAPInst Error while Installing CM

    Hi,
    so far, I have successfully installed Portal 6.0, SP2, Patch 3, Hotfix 7 with SAP J2EE 6.20, PL23 on a Windows 2003 Server with MSSQL-Server 2000, SP3.
When I now try to install CM with SAPInst, I have to choose what instance of J2EE I would like to use - but: I actually only have one instance and thus the two I can choose from, are identically.

    Regards, Markus

Thanks Désirée for your answer and apologies for the late update on this one.
This issue is resolved now, the reason for the error was a lack of memory which probably triggered a timeout in sapinst. After upgrading the memory to 7GB and re-starting the ABAP+Java AS and resuming sapinst everything went through fine. However, this was hard to spot because the logs wouldn't tell you about the lack of memory but about everything else!

  • SAPINST : Error CJS-00091 with raw devices on AIX 5.2

    Dear all,
I am trying to install a Web Application Server Java 6.40 SR1 on AIX/Oracle but get the following error due to the fact that I opted for a raw-device installation.
    > CJS-00091 Unable to create the tablespaces.
    > DIAGNOSIS: There is not enough free disk space:
    >
    > Mount point | space required | space available | SAPDATA directories
    > /oracle/DEP | 2805 | 933.887 | 1,2,4
    >
    > SOLUTION: Make more disk space available.
You will probably tell me that an OSS note exists and that I should adapt the 'control.xml' within the installation directory but that's not the point. This problem was probably present in older releases but is now corrected with the Support Release 1 (SR1) of Netweaver '04
In fact, I don't understand why SAPINST still tries to work with the classical "SAPDATA" structure as it should now work with the "SAPRAW" directory only (See OSS Note 145654). This "SAPRAW" directory is only containing links refering to the raw devices SAPINST should use.
    Here's what I've got :
    > ls -la sapra*
    >
    > drwxr-xr-x 2 oradep dba 256 15 Feb 11:29 cntrl
    > lrwxrwxrwx 1 oradep dba 18 15 Feb 11:28 depdb_1 -> /dev/rdepddb010013
    > lrwxrwxrwx 1 oradep dba 18 15 Feb 11:28 depdb_2 -> /dev/rdepddb010014
    > lrwxrwxrwx 1 oradep dba 18 15 Feb 11:28 depdb_3 -> /dev/rdepddb010015
    > lrwxrwxrwx 1 oradep dba 18 15 Feb 11:28 roll_1 -> /dev/rdepddb010011
    > lrwxrwxrwx 1 oradep dba 18 15 Feb 11:28 system_1 -> /dev/rdepddb010009
    > lrwxrwxrwx 1 oradep dba 18 15 Feb 11:28 temp_1 -> /dev/rdepddb010010
    > lrwxrwxrwx 1 oradep dba 18 15 Feb 11:28 undo_1 -> /dev/rdepddb010012
And here's the "SAPDATA" structure SAPINST wrongly created
    > ls -la sapda*
    >
    > sapdata1:
    > drwxr-xr-x 2 oradep dba 256 15 Feb 11:28 system_1
    >
    > sapdata2:
    > drwxr-xr-x 2 oradep dba 256 15 Feb 11:28 roll_1
    > drwxr-xr-x 2 oradep dba 256 15 Feb 11:28 temp_1
    >
    > sapdata4:
    > drwxr-xr-x 2 oradep dba 256 15 Feb 11:28 depdb_1
Any idea, what the problem is?
I presume the installation script contains some bugs when working with raw devices but would like to know whether someone already experienced this...
    Many thanks for your help,
    Xavier Vermaut
    SAP BC Administrator
    Unisys Belgium

    Hello Arun,
Maybe I am wrong but I think you did not understand what was the problem...
When using 'raw devices', SAPINST shouldn't use the classical SAPDATA directory structure but should only create links into the 'SAPRAW' directory.
So, SAPDATA directories should not exist! Only links (refering to the raw devices to be used) within the SAPRAW directory should be present!
In the meantime, I got this problem solved by SAP. They temporarily modified my 'keydb.xml' file to get this fixed but they should release an appropriate correction within a few days. This way of doing (I mean modifying the 'keydb.xml') is only applicable to my system...
    Cheers,
    Xavier

    Hi guys,
    Thanks for your reply.
I am installing in Domain User.
Also DB installation went fine without any error.
I take all dump from Network drive and it works fine for all including ABAP, JAVA, kernel etc...
But dont know why in Central instance installation "Unpack SAP archive" is giving error.
Below is repeating in sapinst.log and sapinst_dev.log

  • SAPinst error for EP7 install

    Hello All,
I am having problem with installing EP7. Our OS is version V5R4M5. I've applied ISERPACK8 as suggested in the installation guide and OSS notes. However, I am getting an error soon after starting SAPinst in the Windows host.
Erorr message "Error initializing SAPinst for iSeries: Error during authentication. Detailed message is: "sendTMKMessage: could not send message, no connection available" Exit status of child: 1"
I've tried to set system variable JAVA_HOME to C:\j2sdk1.4.2_06 and SAPINST_JRE_HOME to C:\j2sdk1.4.2_06\jre but it stops with the same error.
During the preparation steps to install TMKSVR from the Windows host, there was another issue while running setup for TMKSVR. There error message was "an error occurred while creating TMKSVR instance no.0 (details: 550-error occurred on command TMKSVR00/CRTTMKSVR INSTNO(0) FORCE(*YES)".
The issue seemed to be related to the setup function to transfer and extract TMKSVR.SAR iSeries. We got around that issue through manual steps listed in the TMKSVR install guide while includes transferring the TMKSVR.SAVF file and restoring some objects.
Have anyone come across such error? Looking forward to advise to overcome this issue.
    Much thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Wi Tanto

    Any Idea?

    All,
I am trying for the last two days to invoke the NW04s SAPINST but no success.
It crashes with the folowing error message.
    <b>SAPINST is getting started
    Please be patient.....
    load resource pool D:\...\resourcepool.xml
guiengine: no GUI connected; waiting for a connection on host localhost, port 21200 to continue with the installation.</b>
But the Sneak Preview SP11 Portal install SAPINST starts fine wothout any error in the same machine. I started the machine few times. Checked the netstat but still no success.
    I use Windows Server 2003.
    I greatly appreciate any help.
    Thanks.

    Hello,
I try to install SAP SOLUTION MANAGER 4.0 on AIX 5.3 , ORACLE database.
SAPINST crashes without any reason , creating a core dump
during the phase of extracting Oracle Database Software !!
During the selection screens , it is not possible to skip this step.
How could I tell to sapinst to skip these step,as I can extract DB soft by myself.
    Thanks for your help.

  • SAPInst error related to sid adm user creation

    Hello,
I am doing SAP Netweaver 7.0 Installation (ABAP+JAVA) Stack.
The SAPInst completed the below 2 phases successfully. It errorred out in the 3rd phase, with message "Unable to modify  account user="cmeadm" uid="3141"."  as seen below. Can you let me know what is the cause for this error?
Please note that, surprising thing is,  as seen below, it says cmeadm uid 3141 exists with parameter description.
Then in later below lines, it says
FSL-05014  Command '/usr/sbin/usermod' with parameters '-c "SAP System Administrator" cmeadm' failed with return code 6: UX: /usr/sbin/usermod: ERROR: cmeadm does not exist.
Why is it saying the cmeadm does not exist, when SAPInst confirms that it exists in the above line and in the below log file.
1- Check Solution Manager key -> SUCCESS
2- Install JCE Policy file              -> SUCCESS
3- Create users for SAP System. - > ERROR seen below.

    Hi,
    what is output of command:
    cat /etc/passwd | grep cmeadm
Are you running sapinst under root user?

  • SAPInst Error: MDB-01006 Node=/db2/ SID is missing

    hello folks,
we are running the Distributed system installation, i have DB2 server, separated from the Portal Server, and when we running the SAPINST JAVA database schema during the firts steps "DB2 UDB Check File Sytem" we got a error
    MDB-01006 Node=/db2/EPP
Our SID is EPP, this could be about FileSytem error, thanks for your support

I´m having the same problem how you solve this situation. This note is the only one that I found talking about the same problme.
    Could you help me please
    Thanks

  • Sapinst error backup/restore phase create controlfile

    Hello experts
I am doing a homogeneous system copy using database specific tools backup/restore.Oracle 10.2.0.5, HP-UX, ECC 6.0
Source = ZD1 and Target = ZD1 (Yes they are both same) Source was a fresh install with brand new Export data (SID = ZD1) and now we are replacing the database with a copy of our existing Dev system (also SID = ZD1)
Restored the backup over target using OFFLINE backup. Have not run any "recover database ...." or "alter database open resetlogs" yet because sapinst is suppose to do this.
My control script looks like this: filename = CONTROL.SQL
    STARTUP NOMOUNT
CREATE CONTROLFILE REUSE SET DATABASE "ZD1" RESETLOGS ARCHIVELOG
        MAXLOGFILES 255
        MAXLOGMEMBERS 3
        MAXDATAFILES 254
        MAXINSTANCES 50
        MAXLOGHISTORY 23371
    LOGFILE
      GROUP 1 (
        '/oracle/ZD1/origlogA/log_g11m1.dbf',
then all the data file paths (which I verified to be correct)
    ends with:
    '/oracle/ZD1/sapdata4/sr3_61/sr3.data61',
      '/oracle/ZD1/sapdata4/sr3_62/sr3.data62'
    CHARACTER SET UTF8
    Now here is the issue:
    1) When I manually run the CONTROL.SQL and then just do a alter database open resetlogs everything is fine. Database mounts and opens fine. However when I run the sapinst it tries to run the CONTROL.SQL again and messes up everything. I would like to skip this phase in sapinst and change ERROR to OK in keydb.xml file. Question is when should I do this ? Before starting sapinst so that it skips this or during the phase it stops and asks for backup/restore ?
    2) Instead creating files manually I also let sapinst do this. But it throws an error during control file creation. When I used the above CONTROL.SQL it says must use resetlogs to open database. Then I restored all over again and added the line alter database open resetlogs at the end of CONTROL.SQL
    '/oracle/ZD1/sapdata4/sr3_61/sr3.data61',
      '/oracle/ZD1/sapdata4/sr3_62/sr3.data62'
    CHARACTER SET UTF8
    ALTER DATABASE OPEN RESTLOGS;
And then ran sapinst again from scratch and now it throws error file 1 needs media recovery.
This is weird and I don't know why sapinst acting smart here and wont let me do it and when it does it by himself it messes up.
Is my CONTROL.SQL scripts correct ? Whats the best approach here.
    Thank you

    Hello Nicholas
Thank you. I have replaced the CONTROL>SQL in the installation directory itself. Its in /tmp/sapinst_instdir/ERP/LM/COPY/ORA/SYSTEM/CENTRAL/AS And yes it IS picking up the control.sql that I provided and not the default.
    DatabaseSAP
Thank you. I have never commented  anything in keydb.xml before. But sounds like a good idea because if I can restore it myself I really want to skip this step. Should I just do it before start of sapinst  and what exact lines to comment ? Which keydb should I edit ? I found several but looks like ./ERP/LM/COPY/ORA/SYSTEM/CENTRAL/AS/keydb.xml is the right one.
    root@zepsapa1 # find . -name keydb.xml
    ./NW04S/LM/AS-JAVA/ADDIN/ORA/CENTRAL/DB/keydb.xml
    ./NW04S/LM/AS-JAVA/ADDIN/ORA/CENTRAL/DB/log_20_Apr_2011_05_48_52/keydb.xml

    ./ERP/LM/USR/keydb.xml
    ./ERP/LM/USR/log_15_Dec_2011_15_43_02/keydb.xml
    ./ERP/LM/USR/log_14_Dec_2011_16_15_35/keydb.xml
    ./ERP/LM/PRC/keydb.xml
    ./ERP/LM/COPY/ORA/SYSTEM/CENTRAL/AS/keydb.xml
    ./ERP/LM/COPY/ORA/SYSTEM/CENTRAL/AS/log_19_Dec_2011_08_48_00/keydb.xml
    ./ERP/SYSTEM/ORA/CENTRAL/AS/keydb.xml
    ./ERP/SYSTEM/ORA/CENTRAL/AS/log_16_Dec_2011_12_41_11/keydb.xml
    ./ERP/SYSTEM/ORA/CENTRAL/AS/log_16_Dec_2011_13_03_45/keydb.xml
    ./ERP/SYSTEM/ORA/CENTRAL/AS/log_18_Dec_2011_08_05_17/keydb.xml
Also what exactly am I commenting here ? I see step RunControlScript is the one causing problems and I dont want it to create any control files. Please advise what exactly I need to comment and when. And what about changing the ERROR to OK ?
