Satellite P105-S6197: How to use the system recovery disc

Greetings,
I have a P105-S6197 and I have followed the instructions on the recovery disc,
1. Place the disc or #1 disc into the drive.
2. Power up the computer while holding down the "C" key (release the "C" key when the screen reads "Toshiba")
but these instructions do not work the computer just boots up normally and never runs the disc.
Is there another way to get the disc to run so that I can completely reformat my computer to the way it was when it was first purchased.
Thanks, Edana

I can provide the same information like kody:
There are different options to enable the booting from the CD/DVD drive.
The first one is pressing the C button (you should press it several times) immediately after notebook was powered up.
The second possibility could be the F12 button.
This would enable the boot menu on the screen and then you could choose the CD/DVD drive as a boot device.
Last but not least you could change the booting order in the BIOS.
Set the CD/DVD drive (ODD) at the first place and the notebook should boot from the inserted, bootable CD automatically.
Regards

  • How to use the system recovery after add another SSD?

    Dear all,
I got a Zbook14 with 1TB HDD with Windows 7 in default. Soon after I received it, I added an M.2 256Gb SSD and migrated my system drive to the SSD.
After an malfunction of the HP Client Security that encrypted my system drive (in SSD). I used the HP recovery tool to reset the computer into the default factory status... This action, which I can not select the harddrive during the recovery, wiped my oroginal system paratation (now the data drive) in the 1TB HDD, and thus I have to migrate the system again (not mentioning the data in that partation..).
I wonder if I can change the target drive for the recovery? I did not move the original HP partations from the HDD to SSD. Only the system partation is moved to SSD.
    Thanks.

You don't have any option in terms of changing the target drive for an HP recovery performed by the HP recovery manager.
It is scripted and there is nothing that you as the user can change other than selecting the type of recovery desired.

  • How to use the 5 recovery discs made when new???

I have a Toshiba Satellite L455-S5046.  I purchased this laptop new in a factory sealed box, a little over a year ago.
When I opened it, I made the suggested recovery discs using 5 DVD+RW 4.7GB discs.
Well, now after having issues with installing a windows update and a bluetooth adapter, the laptop just doen't work the same. I get script errors on web pages and have been spending way too much time repairing issues like invalid "not genuine Windows 7" messages.
So, I attempted a recovery using the discs made when new, and the computer tells me the recovery disc is not valid.  What the heck?  I did exactly what the computer suggested on new startup. The discs are not damaged and have been stored in a safe place.
Can anyone walk me through using these discs? If I order the recovery discs from Toshiba, will this restore to original condition?
    Thanks for the help.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I just made a "System Repair Disk" going through Control panel, Backup and Restore on my L775D and it is identical to the Disk 5 made when I got the machine using the Create Recovery Media process.

  • How to Use a System Repair Disc to Restore Windows 7 For Seniors For Dummies

Hi I'm new to this forum and I haven't seen the proper place to post some thing like this. I'm going to post it here and staff can do what they wish with it.
I can't understand why people aren't creating a System Repair Disc to Restore Windows 7. This is the best tool you can have. I have seen a ton of people posting here that can't boot into Windows 7. No mention of a repair Disc. Can you people not read?? This should be one of the first things to do after creating System Recovery Media(Mine requires 5DVD's). What is your thinking not to do these things?

  • Can't recover my system using the system recovery media

Last month my computer started reporting an imminent hard disk failure. So I created a set of system recovery discs, purchased a new hard drive, and tried to start the recovery process. But in the process my DVD drive failed, and then my BIOS chip had to be replaced. Finally I'm ready to try to recover my system using an external DVD drive, but after booting to disk 1 and looking like Windows is starting, I get the error message:
    HP Recovery Manage
The system recovery media does not support this computer. You are not able to restore this system with the media.
    0110-QF521EA#ACB-QE360UA#ABA
    0130-ACB-ABA
What's going on here and I how to I recover my system?

I liked Paul Tikkanen's suggestion of downloading an ISO file and booting to that (http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Operating-Systems-and-Software/System-Recovery-Restore-and-All... The system starts a Windows boot but soon asks me to install a CD/DVD driver. I can't find one and the installation will not let me proceed without one. I am getting pretty frustrated!

  • How can I get system recovery discs (mailed and/or burned from laptop)?

I have a family member who is in another state and has a Toshiba C855D-S5100. It is just under 1yr old and is having some issues booting up. She got it from Best Buy and took it to them yesterday. They are currently running a full diagnostic scan and will let us know what the problem is sometime today (virus, bad drive, bad memory, etc.).
In the meantime, it made me think that we may want to create some recovery discs (if we can). I did this with an older Gateway. It required 4 DVDs. Can this be done with this model? If so, how as it has Windows 8 and I am not real familiar with this operating system just yet.
If the test comes back and says the hard drive is the issue, the unit will be sent to Toshiba for repair (since there is 2 weeks left on warranty). In addition to trying to create some recovery discs, can we maybe somehow order the actual recovery discs from Toshiba directly (& keep for future purposes if the hard drive fails and gets replaced)? If so, how and where do we go to get these Toshiba recovery discs sent to us?

The full Specifications for that machine are HERE.
See the User's Guide starting on page 55 for instructions on "Creating Recovery Media" yourself.
You can order Recovery Media from HERE. (Scroll down).

  • Satellite Pro M40 - How to wipe the system to new

I am having a lot of trouble with my Satellite Pro M40.
When wanting to click in to the various files an error message comes up and asks me to send an error report. I think i may need to wipe the system to new. Does anyone know how to do this? I dont have the disks that I orgianlly got with the laptop to do this.
    Thanks :D

As you know to open various files you need to use various software. So it will be interesting to know which kind of files you try to open. If you know exactly which software can not be started I recommend you to reinstall it in hope it will work again.
Please think about it at first. If you still want to make clean operating system installation please write again. We will find a way to help you. ;)

  • How to use the SYSTEM user in hana cloud

Hello guys, I started with HANA cloud trial, but I havent been able to activate any projects due to an error with permissions,
    Repository operation failed
Repository request failed. Cause: Repository: User is not authorized to execute specified operation;User 'DEV_7UKVVFEAC54C2E59OZZQSHXEN' has no authorization, privilege: 'REPO.EDIT_IMPORTED_OBJECTS', package: 'hello'!, code: 40,156, argument:
Now I believe the problem is obvious is that I dont have enough privileges, I went to the Users view and tried to add permissions to my user but I found out other error:
SAP DBTech JDBC: [7]: feature not supported: grantor and grantee are identical
Now I saw in several threads that if we want to add more privileges we should add them using SYSTEM user, but I just dont know how to log in with the SYSTEM user or how to switch to that user.
Any ideas or steps on how to do it?
    Greetings!

I just tried performing the exact same steps as described in the tutorial and I can confirm that I get the same error. I get the same error from the Web IDE when trying to activate folders created via the sharing wizard of the Studio.
The problem would seem to be with the Studio version that is currently available from the HANA Tools update site.  When packages are created from the project explorer (either directly or through project sharing), they are marked incorrectly as foreign projects (the little blue arrow on the icon).
However if you create the packages via the Content folder of the Systems view (as I did above for the hello package) or via the Web IDE; they are created correctly. I was able to setup a project in the Studio by pre-creating the package in such a way and then creating/sharing the project into the existing package.  I still got an error on the .settings sub-folder, but I could ignore it and still activate the other objects.
Therefore I would suggest this approach or using the Web IDE.

  • How to use the System.nanoTime() ?

I've got a big trouble. I need to create a class with a lot of methods, each method does something, like draw squares, circles, calculate Fibonacci series, and so on. But the problem is:
1 - I need to use System.nanoTime() to calculate the time each method takes to execute and finalize its problem and compare to the time of the other methods.
    Any sugestions?
    Apreciate your help.
    Thanks.

Yeah, sounded too simple, but I'm still wrapped. Could you please show me some code, where I have a method and the System.nanoTime() calculates the time this method takes to execute? It would be great if the method tha uses System.nanoTime() would be a abstract method, so I could use it in other methods for calculating their execution time...
    Thanks a lot!

  • I don't understand how to use the System Font Panel with iMovie.

I need an explanation of how the System Font Panel works. I guess there's a way to get some of those fonts to the iMovie Font Panel, but I can't see how.
    Thank you.

I have had good success with the System Font Panel. Now all of a sudden, I only get part of it. Any suggestions on how to restore the entire panel? There are no change size options in the corners like in some dialog boxes. I was going to paste what I have here, but for some reason, paste is not available.

  • Satellite A105- S4384 - How to use the s-video port

What is the way to use a s-video cord to connect my 4384 to use TV as a screen?
I use Linux Ubuntu 8.04... thanks

    Hi
Usually you dont need any special workarounds to establish the connection with the external TV.
You have to connect the notebook with the TV using the s-video cable.
Please note that the s-video channel should be enabled on your TV.
Then you could change the video output in the graphic card properties.
Using a Windows OS, you would be able to switch to the external TV pressing the FN+F5 buttons but as far as I know on Linux OS this feature will not work.

  • Issues with using the system restore discs from Acer

I am trying to restore an Acer laptop using the restore CD's that I ordered from Acer. Everything works fine until the restore gets to 93% copy progress and 24% copying progress and then the restore locks up. I have tried it 3-4 times with the same issue happening each time. Any ideas?
    Thank you,
    Richard
[edited for privacy-please do not post personal or unique information such as but not limited to full names, email addresses, phone numbers, serial numbers, etc.]

I did try the reinstall process using the ALT+TAB keys and this did not fix the issue. The system is locking in the same place of the restore every time. I feel this may be an issue with the hard drive and therefore I feel it will be necessary to replace it. Does this sound like and accurate assumption?

  • P200 bios crash how to use the crisis recovery mode?

    Hello!
I've got a problem with my Toshiba P200 laptop (PSPBOE). De laptop doesn't boot anymore, only when i press fn+B which means he boots in to crisis recovery mode. But now you have to create a disk with phlash16 + a bios.wph file. But i don't know which one i have tried 16 different versions of phlash16.exe with the usb fdd which he does read.
    I've used this bios file:
    http://be.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp?LNG=10&service=BE
Anybody who can tell me what im doing wrong?

It sounds like you have a Toshiba Europe model.  I would recomend you contact them or use the European forums.  I have not heard of a Fn+B function for the American models.  And it sounds like the BIOS flash procedure is different as well.
