Save One Frame of Video

Hi everyone.
I need to make one frame in a video play longer then it is
(such as 2 frames instead of 1) but can't find a way to do this.
Any help would be great.

Although that tutorial is specifically using Muse I think it's helped me to work out how to go about it using Edge.
For anyone interested I'm going to use Photoshop to export the video as jpegs at 5fps. I'll then place images side by side in photoshop effectively creating one incredibly long jpeg.
Then in edge I'm going to clip one frame and simply move the image along the x axis the length of each frame moving it every quarter of a second.
Then using a bit of JQUERY activate the parallax effect and hey presto! Problem solved!

    Share>Add Destinations. In Destinations prefs there is an option to save a frame. Drag it to the sidebar to make it available as a share option.

    I am using Low-level Grab Raw Data.vi example from NI-IMAQ. I want to save one frame at a time and then set the file position to end (and maybe add some mark that I recognize where the next frame begins). I know that it copies the raw data of the specified frame into Image Data Array. But does it write (in this example) data of one frame to disk and then set file position to end? If not, how to modify it?
    How does changing number of buffer affect? I mean if I increase it >1 does it affect to number of frames to write per one iteration time of while loop?

    You may (you can see Groups in the Layers palette with the layer expanded):
    1) Ctrl/Cmd+A to select everything and Ctrl/Cmd+Shift+G to Ungroup ;
    2) ShiftClick the circle to deselect it; if it is still a Group (all of its own), Ungroup again;
    3) With the Centre Reference Point ticked in the Transform palette multiply the W or H value by 1.1 (just add *1.1 in the box) and Ctrl/CmdEnter to keep proportions (this is to make sure that they are long enough);
    4) Ctrl/Cmd+A to select everything again and Pathfinder>Divide (this will make pie pieces);
    5) Drag over the centre with the Direct Selection Tool and press Delete (this will rid you of the inner parts of the pie pieces so you just have the outer rim in pieces).
    This should give you the 30 independent curved lines forming the circle, two of them with an extra (original) Anchor Point.

    When Photoshop just won't work properly, try replacing the Preferences file by using this procedure:
    Open Photoshop and save your custom goodies. Choose Edit→Presets→Preset Manager to save sets of styles, brushes, and other such bits and pieces you created. Use the Save Actions command in the Actions palette menu to save any sets of custom Actions.
    Review your Preferences. Open Photoshop's Preferences and go through each pane, noting your preferred settings so that you can restore your work environment later.
    Quit Photoshop. You can close the program like this:
    On a Mac: Hold down Command+Shift+Option and restart Photoshop. When prompted, release the modifier keys and confirm, that yes, you do want to replace the Photoshop settings.
    On a PC: Restart Photoshop; immediately press and hold down Ctrl+Shift+Alt. When prompted, release the modifier keys and confirm, that yes, you do want to replace the Photoshop settings.

    You could if you want a postcard sized print.
    Printers need a lot more "dots" per inch and even a 1920X1080 video doesn't have enough "dots" to make more than a postcard.

    Picture in picture - is no a standard option in any version of iMovie.
    iMovie ? - 6 You'll need a third party *plug in* to do this: (iM'08 no go at all)

From the Scaled Size pop-op menu, choose percent. Then type 50 into the first box. If Preserve Aspect Ratio is turned on you won't need to type 50 into the second box. You have made the pasted footage appear at one quarter its original size. The inset is now hugging the top-left corner of the Main Clip. If you want, you can type numbers into the Offset Boxes to shove it away from that corner (there are 72 pixels to the inch).
    If your original Main Clip was required in 16:9, unclick (de-select) Preserve Aspect Ratio, and type in the relevant numbers in the two boxes, in Video Track 1.
    PAL (for Europe):
    Standard DV (4:3) 788 x 576
    DV Widescreen (16:9) 1050 x 576
    NTSC (for the USA):
    Standard DV (4:3) 720 x 528
    DV Widescreen (16:9) 874 x 480
    This will not affect video track 2, but if that is also wanted in 16:9 repeat for that track.
    You can superimpose, 3, 4, or more such 'overlaps' on the same clip, and spend a happy afternoon tapping away for each track in the Offset Boxes until you have got them all in the right place! You can even overlap them, if you can remember (or note down - hire a secretary to take notes) which track you want on top etc.
    Save the completed QT file. Import the completed file into a new iMovie project. Import this into the original iMovie project, substituting the old clip you copied to QT as Main Clip for the new fancy clip you have made.

    that FCE is a real bargin.

    Sounds like a good plan, you can never be to safe and having a second External HD is safer than one.
    The only thing that I would do different, is setup the 3T as my TimeMachine Backup and then erase and move my Photos, Videos and perhaps even iTunes Media to the 1T. That way you will have room to backup both the Internal Hard Drive and the 1T External Hard Drive to the 3T using TimeMachine.
    Take your time, study and use the > Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions if you get stuck or aren't sure how to make the move.

    When I connect to anyone on iChat my video runs at only about one frame per second. When others connect to me their video is much faster. This hasn't been a problem in the past - even with other Internet apps running when I'm using iChat. Could this be a problem with my ISP? Is there something I should do?

    In AIM 5.9 the PC can set the Video quality rate.
    Start a chat.
    The PC end clicks on the rear tab of the Video chat.
    This brings their own preview to the front.
    To the right there is anow a small iCon.
    Click on this.
    This brings up a slider.
    Slide the slider to the Left.
    If this is done to an iChat Buddy and they have the Connection Doctor open from the Video menu, they will see the Bit rate and Framerate go up. The consequence is that as the video Quality goes down the data that makes up the pic goes down allowing for better refresh rates and a smoother video.
    Do you mean this only happens between you and him and not between him and his son ?

    A still frame from an Event:
    Put cursor at the frame you want, then right click (or command click) and select "Add Still Frame to Project".
    The still frame will be added at the end of the Project.
    A still frame from a Project:
    Put cursor at the frame you want then right-click (or control-click) and select "Add Freeze Frame". The Freeze frame will be added after the clip.
    In both cases:
    Select the still frame (so the yellow band is around it).
    Right-click (or control-click) and select "Reveal in Finder".
    You will see a JPG file highlighted in the finder.
    Drag this file and drop it on your iPhoto icon in the Dock.

    Since the recent replacement of my hard drive, I cannot save a frame from a video. There is no menu option with share and "save frame"  I used to be able to do this.

    In the Share popup select Add Destionation to go to the Destination preference. Drag still image to the sidebar to make it available in the popup.

  • 23.976 Quicktime exports one frame short

    Hi,
    I'm having a recurring problem with 23.976 fps exports missing the last frame of any comp. I'm working with prores 4444 files shot at 23.976, comp settings also 23.976, footage interpreted correctly at 23.976. When I export to quicktime in any codec at 23.976 the exported clip is one frame short.
    This isn't a framerate issue as far as I can tell as all previous frames match the original footage, also an image sequence export will produce the correct number of frames. It's just not exporting the last frame. Is anyone else having this problem?
    Obviously the workaround is to extend every comp by a frame before render, or always render an image sequence, but as I'm working on a show with an extremely high number of shots to turnaround and all have to be imported back into the edit at Avid DNX36 offline codec quality, this seems like a much more time consuming (and storage space consuming!) solution to what is an obvious glitch.
    Can anyone help? A solution will save me weeks of time over the coming six months!

    It's probably just a counting error.  AE, like many applications that work with video, begins with frame ZERO, not frame one.
    Count the number of digits in the following list: 0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9.  Even though the highest value is nine, the number of digits is ten.  Thus, in AE, close to one second of 23.976 fps video is contained in frames 00-23, and not 00-24... which would be twenty-FIVE frames.

    Photoshop does have limits. When you run into one of them you can summit a request to Adobe to up the limit.  I made such a request for Alpha channels I would be very happy with a limit like 500 instead of the Alpha channel limit of 53.  Adobe seems to feel that 53 is a large number and can not see where user would want more, 500 must be a huge number then.  My advice is to look for a small freeware program for doing timelaps sequences and use Photoshop to save your frame layers combos as frame file then use the freeware to make the animation.  It does not make much scene to make an Animated gif with something like 600 frames.  If you want a 600 frame animation on the web you would want to stream a video type file..

    I just purchased Quicktime Pro so that I can use it with my new Nano (the one that shoots video). I want to grab a frame from the video and create a still image (in jpeg format). I should be able to do it, but when I try, I get an error 11005 (or something like that). Anyone know any way to fix this? Thanks!

    I also tried the alt/ctrl/shift buttons when clicking Editor in the Photoshop welcome screen. It did ask if I wanted to reset the preferences. I chose yes. I still get the same error message when trying to save for web.
    Below....showing I don't have a "save for web" folder on my C drive.
    And below, showing the same error after pressing alt/shift/ctrl when clicking on editor and clearing the preferences.
    I don't have a 'Save for Web' folder anywhere on my C: drive. I searched and came up with no folder with the text "save for web" in it.
    I did find a "save for web" folder on my D: drive and deleted that.. but now when I start up Photoshop, the option for Save for Web is grayed out...not able to select it.

  • Manually save and upload a video to Youtube

    Hello,
    I'm wanting to know the proper settings (as far as frame size etc...) for MANUALLY saving a video file that I plan on uploading to YouTube later?
    So I'm looking for the proper settings at the beginning when I start my project and then when I'm saving it.....which should I choose?  It's a video for a client so I want it to look great and I want it to fill the 'whole' YouTube video screen; with no pillars on sides or top.  This is a very short video, but I will be making several of them, they are only about 2 mins long, just fyi.
    I was able to save one using the AVCHD and I think the very first option; which is like 1440 x 1080 and this did work but isn't this a huge file size or overkill?  I have a few photos in there that are 1000px x 750px and these look great; but somewhere I think I saw that YouTube videos should be 640 x 480??
    Can I go ahead and keep using this setting? It did fill the complete YouTube screen...

    Thanks for the reply. I am having Internet speed problems for my high speed DSL so I fully appreciate the smaller size downloads uploads.
    Here is the plan...I am going to assume that your video from the iPad is 1080p (1920 x 1080 @ 29.97 progressive frames per second).
    1. Set the project preset manually to
    NTSC
    DSLR
    1080p
    DSLR 1080p30 @29.97
    The details of setting the project preset manually can be found toward the bottom of the following
    ATR Premiere Elements Troubleshooting: PE11: Accuracy of Automatic Project Preset (New Project Dialog) Setting
    2. Then import your source media into the project. The source media being
    a. the iPad's 1080p video
    b. your graphics sized to 1920 x 1080 pixels
    One of the perks of the project preset selected has been that the images in the export seem to be sharper than other.
    3. Now for the export....possibilities....
    a. If the estimated upload to YouTube is less than 2 GB/15 minutes, you could try
    Publish+Share
    Social Websites
    YouTube
    with the preset = High Definition Video for YouTube - 1920 x 1080.
    or
    b. If you are going to export to a file saved to the computer hard drive and then upload from there to YouTube
    at the YouTube web site, you could try
    Publish+Share
    Computer
    AVCHD
    with the preset = MP4 - H.264 1920 x 1080p30
    Note the estimated file size and duration at the bottom of the export area just before you hit Save.....if too large
    a file size, you can click on the Advanced Button/Video Tab and lower the bitrate to lower the file size (but just
    to a point where you are not lessening the quality)
    or
    c. The Windows Media exports typically give the smaller file size - so maybe
    Publish+Share
    Computer
    Windows Media
    with preset = 720 x 480 16x9 29.97
    then you are going to customize that preset so that it is 1920 x 1080p30
    See Advanced Button/Video Tab...., focusing on the Video Tab fields....
    You will probably find a chain in the box to the right of Frame Width and Frame Height and will need
    to remove it in order to type in the 1920 and the 1080. It disappears and reappears by clicking on the box.
    The Bitrate in Kbps (kilobits per second) is set by me to 3500, but that can be adjusted either way
    if the file size is too large or too small or you want to try for better quality while you are maintaining a decent
    file size.
