Save search state between pages

I have a webapp with two taskflows with page fragments:
Search
Edit
In the search you can search for entities and the results are displayed in a table. You can select an entity from the table and press an "Edit" button to go to the edit taskflow where the row is displayed in a form for editing.
On the edit page you can either commit or rollback (save and cancel buttons), both of which return you to the search taskflow.
Now my problem is that when i return to the search page it has been "reset", i.e. my search results are empty.
How can i make sure that my search results are saved and then restored when i return from the edit page, no matter if i made some changes or cancelled?
Do i have to save the thing the user searched for and then re-execute the query on the view object which the search page is based on?
or is there a way to save the actual search results (viewobject rows, iterator state, etc) so i dont have to re-execute the query?
I am using JDevelopers 11.1.2.
Im in a bit of a rush atm, so the above description may not be the most detailed. Please let me know if you need more info.

Do i have to save the thing the user searched for and then re-execute the query on the view object which the search page is based on?Yes this is the process. However, as long as your data is not changed, the execution of the query will be done on top of the entity cache.
or is there a way to save the actual search results (viewobject rows, iterator state, etc) so i dont have to re-execute the query?Perhaps this article can provide some guidelines: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/adf/downloads/58-optimizedadffacescomponentsearch-175858.pdf

  • How does the JSF save the state between multiple page requests?

I have an issue where I will visit my JSF page, enter some information and click a command button. I will then navigate away from the page. Then when I return to the JSF page my data (that was submitted) will be in the form.
    Example
    1. Navigate to JSF page
    http://localhost/MyWeb/form.jsf
    2. Enter in value in name field (which is blank)
    3. Click the Submit command button attached to an action method that returns null
    4. The form is viewable again but with the value entered in the name field
    5. Navigate to a non-JSF page
    http://localhost/MyWeb/index.jsp
    6. Navigate back to JSF page
    http://localhost/MyWeb/form.jsf
The page displays the data that I submitted on the previous request. My guess is that JSF stores the viewstate in a scope that is larger than the request scope and that on page view it loads the previous submit attempt (which is not expected).
Specs: Websphere Application Server 6.1 (which is JSF 1.1)

Here is a trace of the phases:

It appears to go through the full lifecycle on the second view of form.jsf instead of stopping after restoring the view.

  • Save zoom state per PDF page

I am looking for the option to save zoom state per page in a PDF portfolio.  I know there is a key board shortcut to set the zoom per page and save it but can't remember what it is.

Toolbar entries for the desktop and browser instances are different, so what you assign in one won't update the other. That's because a lot of things aren't allowed in the browser plugin. You can't directly manipulate the toolbar options in the browser instance of Adobe Reader XI, they're factory-defined.

  • Save Search Page

    Hi
Can you customise the Save Search Page, i.e the page that appears when you want to save the search name - If so, how do you do it.
    Thanks
    Andrew

forgot to mention, there is this error that pops up when I hover over the Edit button:
"This control is currently disabled.  You might not have the right permission level to use this, you might need to select an object or item, or the control might not work in this context."
I am a farm administration and site collection administrator so I know I have the permissions.
I am trying to edit the Search Center page, but since the "Save" option is missing, it won't save my changes.

  • Switching between page layout and word processing

I can't seem to switch between page layout and word processing view.  I've read all the posts on this and still can't figure out why I can't just type a document into Pages.  The only option I have in page layout view is to type into text boxes, which is not what I want.  I just want to type a letter for crying out loud.
Before I get all the rants about reading User Guides, etc.  *I have*.  I've also searched on here and in-app help and just don't understand the fuzzy/non-existant answers.  Obviously, I'm a newbie, so please don't jump all over me for this.  If it was Word - I could do this in NO time.  I just find it incredibly frustrating that inputting a normal document should be so difficult.
Is "Pages" *not* a word processing program?  Is it just a cut and paste application?  Sorry for the tone - I mean no disrespect - it's just that I've been fooling around with this for DAYS and I just don't have time to spare anymore.  I really need to get this done.
Can somebody give me a straightforward answer on how to just type a normal document into pages without using text boxes?
Thanks and I apologize for not being mac-savvy.  It took some of us a lot longer to see the light =)

Here is a script doing the conversion task for you.
    Open a Page Layout document
    run this script:
    --{code}
set p2t to (path to temporary items from user domain) as text
set path_2_doc to p2t & (do shell script "date +_%Y%m%d_%H%M%S.doc")
    tell application "Pages"
      save document 1 in path_2_doc
      open file path_2_doc
    end tell
    --{code}
    that's all folks.

i created a specific page from the following xml page :
    /oracle/apps/eam/workorder/webui/EAM_WO_SEARCH_RG.xml
i wanted to add a new criteria in the advanced search.
    I did it by :
    _downloading the standard VO
_adding my specific VO by extending it from the standard VO
_in my specific VO i modified the query by adding a new column
_in my specific VO i added an attribute mapping
_adding a new column in the advancedtable region with a sortableheader
_adding in the advancedsearchpanel a new criteria with 2 children (one messgetextinput and a messagestyledtext)
_adding in the advancedsearchmapping a new item
    i make a test
now the advanced search has the new criteria in the list.
i type the value i want to filter.
the filter works with the new criteria
now i want to make another test.
i try to use the functionality save search.
when i try to add the new criteria i just added and type in a value i get the following error :

  • Pass aprameters between pages

    Hi,
I have HTML DB form calling a complicated report (in Oracle reports).
Oracle reports takes in about 50 parameters.
Each parameter is represented in the form by a list manager or a select list.
I want to design the form in such a way that the items are spread among different tabs/pages on the form and finally call Oracle report for all these parameters passed through different pages.
Could any one help me figure this out? Thanks,

    > I have multiple select as one of the item in page 1. In which case,
    > these values are stored in the database.
Well, if they are on an HTML DB page, as a result from a DML or SELECT operation, then you can reference their value in HTML DB.
    > Then, I can't pass these parameters directly between pages,
    > right? Is querying directly from the database the only option?
I'm a little confused here, as I think you may be overcomplicating how HTML DB works a bit.. An HTML DB item can have a number of different sources - one of which is from a database column. If you are intending on updating previously committed data, then you would need some sort of process to fetch the data into the HTML DB items.
If you are using this as a "wizard", and want the user to select 100 different options then commit, you don't need to directly commit your transaction until the user clicks on the "save" button. Every item's value is automatically stored in session state by HTML DB; that's what you can reference from any other page.
    Hope this helps,

  • "Save as PDF" from Pages document made it smaller

I have a following problem: I created a simple CD Cover in Pages 09. Then I printed it on my HP 3055 printer and the dimensions were exact and it fit the CD case perfectly.
I need to send this CD cover to a friend, so I created a PDF file via Print -> Save as PDF. Then I verified the printing - to my sheer surprise the cover came out of the printer almost 5mm smaller than it originally was.
I don't want to change (apparantly correct!) size of the CD cover in the original Pages document. I just want a correct PDF out of it. I verified the dimensions of my original Pages document - and it fits A4 paper size on which I'm printing.
I'm confused. Did I miss something?

Thanks for your help. Yes, the cover fits rulers. I searched for "Automatic Page Scaling" which I do remember existing in Print dialogs from some applications - however from Pages I found only this in the Print dialogue, which vaguely ressembles to it:

As you see it is greyed out... Thoughts?

  • How to save toolbar state in browser plugin?

How do I get the Reader browser plugin to save the toolbar state?
I'm using Adobe Reader XI as a browser plugin in Firefox. I've set it to disable Read mode by default. I like to have several tools at my disposal, so I right click the toolbar and show all the page display tools that I like. When I quit and load a new PDF in the browser, the toolbar state is lost and I have to show all my favorite tools again. This gets annoying when done repeatedly throughout the day.
The native Reader program saves toolbar state. Why not the plugin?

Toolbar entries for the desktop and browser instances are different, so what you assign in one won't update the other. That's because a lot of things aren't allowed in the browser plugin. You can't directly manipulate the toolbar options in the browser instance of Adobe Reader XI, they're factory-defined.

  • SWF flickers/flashes when moving between pages

IDCS4 export to SWF with page transitions. Not sure if anyone else is having this problem, but when I navigate between pages, the interactive items/buttons seem to flash or flicker once after each transition.
Does anyone know how to resolve? I'm building a small booklet in IDCS4. Nothing fancy about it, just a few pages that I want the viewer to be able to navigate through. The flickering is driving me nuts and I can't seem to figure out why it's happening. I've tried just about every setting, searched the net and have found nothing on the subject.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
    Mark

Happens with all transitions. Seems to be a bug and I've sent my notes to Adobe. Other posting can be found
    here.
Hopefully they'll fix it in the future, 'cause it's a great feature.

  • Session state of page item different from one region to another region

    hi,
on one particular page I have two regions. A page item (LOV pop-up) is set in the first region. I leave this region with a button and jump back with a branch to the same page. The page item has now the selected value (as is shown by session state window). So far so good.
The second region (SQL query type) uses this page item. However, for some reason the page item is NULL in that second region.
Can anyone explain this behavior ?
    ron

    thanks Joel,
I did already what you suggested. The title in region 2 is evaluated to the same value as in region 1.
The SQL query (that actually runned with identical syntax before) is:
select bla from blatable where bla = :P920_RU
    this generates:
    report error:
ORA-12801: error signaled in parallel query server P000
    ORA-01741: illegal zero-length identifier
So apperently the bind variable is evaluted to (or cached as) NULL.
I noticed something strange in the session window. There are several page items in the application. All of them are listed in the 'Session State' region. The page item that makes problems is the only one that is also listed in the 'Page Items' region. It is even listed when I start the session window from another page. Weird.
    any other ideas ?
Actually, how could you possibly clear session state between rendering two regions ?

  • How to save the state of a program ?

I am working on a program, where one can open several tabs with JEditorpanes, and in the tabs one can read a webpage. I was wondering if there is a way to save the state of the program. For example the program starts with three tabs, but say that the user opens three more tabs. How would one save this info, so that it could be retrieved again when the program is restarted ?????

Check out java.util.prefs.Preferences. This is the standard API for loading/saving preferences between sessions of an application.

  • Why do I have to use the tab key even more to tab between page elements.

Firefox versions prior to ver 4 I used the tab key to tab between page elements (form elements, buttons, etc). I upgraded to ver 4 and now when I tab from form element to form element I first see a gray line outlining the element area and then another press of the tab the element becomes active for me to use. I now have to use double the tab keys to move between form elements.

Hello new_mac_user, see if the next works
    # In the [[Location bar autocomplete|Location bar]], type '''about:config''' and press '''Enter'''. The about:config "''This might void your warranty!''" warning page may appear.
    # Click '''I'll be careful, I promise!''', to continue to the about:config page.
    # in search field type (or copy/paste from here) '''accessibility.tabfocus'''
    # double-click on it and change the value to '''4''' (probably you have 1 the default on mac)
    # click ok, exit firefox and restart it.
with the above you give focus to links (and linked images) only when you press the tab key.

  • Saving netConnection and netGroup connection between pages.

Is it possible to save a connection to Stratus between pages somehow?
For example i have layout on my website, where my Stratus based app is located on all pages.
When user is walking along the pages of my website Stratus app should reconnect on each page, which is not good i must admit, because it takes time to gather all information about the group clients again, reconnect to some stream maybe and so on.

It's interesting solution. I'll try it tomorrow.
But would be really awesome if Adobe could create such storage in Flash Player.
Which could keep connections alive and all gathered data about group(s) as well.
It's an interesting idea and it will reduce connections made to Stratus.
Maybe some of Adobe officials will answer if there are any future plans on that feature.
Any solutions will be welcomed here as well.
