Saving a Search

I have done a search over a large number of PDF documents.  It will take a while to go through all the results -- more time than I generally have in one sittting.  Is there any way to save the results of a search, both so I can go through the whole search results and so I can try various methods to refine the original search?

The best forum for understanding the recommended strategy for developing extensions for EBusiness Suite is the OA Framework discussion forum here:
OA Framework
ADF without OA Framework does not include the query saving, personalization, zoom functionality, and other things you're asking about so it would be best to get a suggestion from the folks most familiar with OA Framework in that other forum.
Regarding When-Window-Closed, in a browser-based environment this would need to be done using Javascript in the browser. Google for "javascript window close event" and there are numerous hits.

  • Restrict users from saving own search in existing Named Searches

    Hello,
    I have created some Named Searches that will be used by the MDM users. These users are only allowed to use these named searches (in their search selections) but they are not allowed to 'overwrite' any of the named searches by their own search criteria.
    How can I prevent the user from 'overwriting' the Named Searches?
    Because even when I set the user role to "None" for all functions and "Read-Only" for all tables and fields, the user can still make their own search and Save that as Named Search (and thus 'overwriting' the existing Named Search which impacts also the other users that make use of these Named Searches).
    We are using MDM 5.5 SP5 (5.5.42.106).
    Or is this an autorisation bug in MDM?
    Thanks for your answers!
    Regards,
    Marcel

    All,
    Just for your information:
    We have upgraded to MDM 5.5 SP06 Patch 3 (build 5.5.63.57) and they have introduced new role feature to protect named searched to be overwritten (see also release notes of patch 3 - OSS Note 1234675).
    So you can now change the Role (in MDM Console) and under section MDM Data Manager, you can set None or Execute for the function of Saving a Named Search.
    If you set it to None, then the menu option in the MDM Data Manager of saving an search as a Named Search (and hence overwriting the named search) is greyed out. Only when you set it to Execute (which is automatically set during upgrade to thi snew version when the role has set it's Default function to Execute), then the user can overwrite the named search with his own search.
    So, issue solved!
    Regards,
    Marcel

  • I am looking for: Saved folder search for Mail items (Notes & ToDos)

    The google and Apple website search results take me to the sme portion of OS 10,5's site, There I am told (or read) +"And everything you create in Mail — to-dos, notes, and, of course, email messages — appears in a Spotlight search of your system."+
    Unfortunately, this hs been the case for me and if it truly does work, I would like to make it happen on my computer. Especially after reading this:+Integration with Spotlight, Coverflow. Since all my "stuff" lives in Mail and iCal, it can easily be found using Spotlight. Even cooler are saved Finder searches that display notes and tasks using Coverflow. (I create a tag by adding °, shift-option-8, to key words.)+
    Has anyone else been able to get the mention spotlight functionality? All help will be appreciated.

    Check System Prefs >SPotlight >Search Results. There, you check all the folders or areas that you want to appear in search results. This way, I guess, you can have parts indexed but not usually have to look at matches from those parts when you search, perhaps for speed or keeping down number of hits you have to review. On my new mac, Mail was not checked and I had the same problem. In theother part of the Spotlight Prefs, Privacy, you can exclude areas from being indexed at all.
    BTW, we are mac and mastiffs too at our house, have eleven yr old ENglish Mastiff still holding his own as king of the place.

  • Users are losing saved local searches

    Hello,
    Users are saving local searches but the local search is not saved when the user re-logs in.  This happens sometimes but not all of the time.  Is this a know bug?
    I have tested this and I have also lost a saved local search.
    thanks
    Tammi

    Tammi,
    As for as I know this is fixed in 7.1, even you unload the repository and re-load, the searches will never lost.
    thanks
    Alexander.

  • HTML character entities problem in saved regex search and replace query

    I have a many search and replace regular expression queries (.dwr files) that I have saved. I have a problem specifically with saved queries that contain HTML entities such as "& nbsp ; " or "& shy ;" (spaces added otherwise code doesn't render in browser). For example if I use the following search:
    ([\d]{3}& shy ;[\d]{3}& shy ;[\d]{4}|[\d]{3}& nbsp ;[\d]{3}& nbsp ;[\d]{4})
    (which searches for numbers in the 888-555-1234 or 888 555 1234 formats)
    This will work fine if I manually enter it into the search text area. However if I save it to file and reload it, it will no longer work because the and   characters are now displayed as " " (space) and "-"(shy) rendering the saved query useless as it's no longer searching for the code. I have some fairly long and complex queries and this is becoming a problem.
    Thanks for any help.
    I'm currently using Dreaweaver CS4 at home and CS5.5 at work.

    Thanks for your reply Kenneth, but that is not what I'm trying to accomplish. I'm looking for the HTML entities that exist in the source code which are & shy ; and & nbsp ; (without the spaces). As I mentioned above, if I enter them manually in the search box, I will get the corrrect results. If I save the search and then reload it, the special characters are no longer in HTML and the search is now useless.
    Just for example again
    In an open document in code view insert a number in the format (without the spaces): 888& nbsp;888& nbsp ;8888
    Open a search dialog box and enter (without the spaces): [\d]{3}& nbsp ;[\d]{3}& nbsp ;[\d]{4}
    The search will find that entry.
    Save search as phone.dwr for example. Then load it and try the search again. It won't work because upon loading the search Dreamweaver replaces the HTML code which was saved with the rendered HTML. So now the search shows up as: [\d]{3} [\d]{3} [\d]{4} which will not find the string with hard coded non-breaking spaces that I'm looking for.
    Basically I want to be able to save a search query for reuse. When I load a search query, I want it to be exactly what I saved, not something that DW has rendered (that doesn't work).

  • HT5429 how do I clear previously saved address searches in maps

    I want to clean up my Maps app and cant seem to figure out how to clear previously saved addresses. I hit clear but they are still there.

    Thanks for your reply!
    Yes! I already turn off the autofill. But the list still come out when I typing in the search bar.
    Kenny
    Hi Kenny,
    Re: Turning off autofill in the
    address field...
    The alternative to that is to clear your history and
    clean up your bookmarks to remove any entries that
    you no longer use (Safari uses both to check for url
    autofill items).

  • Macbook:  Saving and Searching

    I recently got my hard drive on my Macbook replaced, as it had some issues with some corrupt files. Since then however, I have had problems with searching for files on my computer, and "Spotlight" has seemed to stop working completely.
    In addition to this, I have had issues with saving files from other applications such as Word, Excel, and Sibelius (a music notation software). My files will prompt me to save them when I exit, however when I try to save them, nothing happens. Is there something that I can do to fix this problem without replacing any software?

    I have a vast storage amount on my local folders of which I need to remove all but the most recent items.
    Are you sure that your mail is actually taking up that much space? Don't confuse number of messages with size. I have tens of thousands of e-mails tucked away in local mailboxes for archival purposes... basically, all the mail I have send and received since 2005. The one thing that can make your e-mails grow is attachments, so I'm always careful when archiving my messages that I remove the attachments (Message -> Remove Attachments). I don't typically need the attachments. If they're important, I have saved them elsewhere outside of Mail.
    Despite keeping that many messages in Mail, my ~/Library/Mail/ folder only takes up 246 MB... not terribly significant even on the 60 GB drive in my old PowerBook G4, much less on the 250 GB drive in my current machine.
    Can I drag or copy the individual folders to my desktop from where I can then burn those folders to a CD or DVD (or even memory stick). Are the storage devices (CD etc) now searchable if I need to look for a specific message?
    You can't just drag a mailbox to your desktop and turn it into a folder full of messages. You could archive the mailbox (Mailbox -> Archive Mailbox), but that will create a Unix-style mailbox that contains all messages in a single mbox file... not easily readable or searchable.

  • Mail in 10.6.2 Crashing When saving or searching for attachments

    Installed 10.6 the other day, then 10.6.2 yesterday. Since then Mail is crashing out almost everytime I search through files to attach an attachment, or when I'm trying to save an attachment. I'm sending and receiving mail just fine. After relaunching Mail several time I will eventually be able to grab or save the attachment. This is very annoying.

  • Questions on saving document, search result and location

    SAVE DOCUMENT
    Is it possible to save the document directly on the IFS's repository? Shall I save the document as local copy and then to upload the document on the IFS repository?
    SEARCH RESULT
    If I do "Find" + "on documents", I haven't unexpected results. But, in the result list, some documents are missing although they are mapping the research criterias.
    LOCATION
    In the results list, if I move the mouse cursor over a document link : I can read "http://fileserver:81/:12697" What does it means ? Where is stored this document ?
    null

    You should save the document as local copy and then to upload the document on the IFS repository.
    Some of the files might not have been indexed yet when you did search. Or possible you didn't have discovery permission to some of the files.
    "http://fileserver:81/:12697"
    It means the DocID of this document.

  • Saving the search results

    Hi all,
    I have a page with 3 drop down list boxes and a submit button, If user clicks on it then it has to fetch the results from the database and display the results. I have to store the search creteria and the search results for later use of the user. What is the best way to do this?
    Thanks and regards
    Shyam

    As soon as the user clicks on the submit button, I'd put the search criteria in a Javabean and put this Javabean in the session. The same goes for the records of the database you've found using the search criteria.
    Here's some code to start a new session.
    HttpSession session = _request.getSession(true);And here's some code I use to put a Javabean called film inside the session.
    HttpSession sessie = _request.getSession(false);
    FilmDao filmDao = new FilmDao();
    Film film = new Film();
    try {
          film = filmDao.zoekFilmOpNummer(filmnummer);
         } catch (Melding melding)
                    sessie.setAttribute("melding", melding);
         sessie.setAttribute("film", film);

  • How is the Contacts saved/organized/searched???

    Hi guys,
    now when u want to look for a contact in ur phonebook, u either start typing in the search bar, scroll down to the name or use the Index on the right...
    now how does the iPhone search for them??
    when i type: will it show depending on last name or first name or anything that works??
    when i use the Index on the right: the letters represent the first name or last name of the contact??
    hope u got my question
    Thx

    You get to choose whether your iPhone displays names like this:
    Lastname, Firstname
    ... or like this:
    Firstname, Lastname
    It will then display all of your contacts that way. When you "flick" the screen up or down or use the A-Z scoller at the right edge, it's simply moving up and down that sorted list.
    When you use the search feature (magnifying glass) it will look through all the first and last names and company names. Nothing else about your contacts is searchable.

  • Safari History not saving recent searches

    My Safari is not saving recent history. A few days ago my trackpad wasn't opening programs and now it seems to be fine. Now my preferences change every time I restart. Similarly, every time I reopen Safari, the newest history that shows is a few days old. For a few days now it's shown Friday the 17th (it's Monday now). I cleared the history and when I restart the application the history shows up like as if I never cleared it.
    Any help would be great, thanks.

    Repair Disk actions from the Install DVD
    Did Disk Utility report that the disk, "appears to be ok" ?? The instructions at that link were to check the startup disk for problems, not repair permissions.
    I didn't know how else to get to the user accounts
    Open System Preferences / Accounts. You can access non admin accounts there.
    If you haven't set one up, follow the instructions here.
    Creating a new user account: 10.5
    The reason we ask that users try another user account is to "test" Safari there. If you have the same "history" problems there with Safari, that's why you need to check the startup disk.

  • Saving favorite searches?

    Is there a way to save favorite/often-used searches? It's repetitive to have to type in the same search keywords week after week to repeat it, having even the last 5 searches available in something like a "favorite searches" or "most recent searches" function would be a great help!

    They don't have a way to save searches that I know of, but it sounds like a good idea to me. Your other idea was good too in the other thread about an email for new channels and free previews.

    Well it does save the search.
    But the newly created saved search disappears as soon as I navigate from Reports to Adminstration tab and then retrun back to the Reports Tab.
    is this a bug? I have also cheked in 11.1.14 version ... it is the same behavior.

    I think there is already an enhancement request raised on this. Contact Oracle Support to get more information on this.
