Saving powerpoint to cd r/w

I am trying to save a Power Point file I've made to a CD-RW (4X-700 MR) inserted through the DVD drive. When I try to save the file, my choices do not include the DVD/CD drive, and I cannot enter it manually as a choice. is this something I should be able to do or not? If I should be able to save it to a CD, what am I doing wrong?

Barbara,
Just save the file to your desktop. Quit PP.
Next insert a blank CD into your drive, if using a CD-RW that has been used before, erase it using Disk Utility.
A CD icon should appear on your Desktop.
Drag the file you saved before onto that icon.
CTRL-click on that icon and choose to burn the disk.

• Saving Powerpoint MAC 2011

Hello ,
Saving Powerpoint MAC 2011 files to SMB based shares is very slow (or to anything other than a local hard drive).
Typical Powerpoint file size for me is between 15-50 Mb and a file save to an SMB LAN share, with a file size of 10MB can take 20 minutes.
Same discuccions on Microsoft:
http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/mac/forum/macoffice2011-macpowerpoint/slow-la n-wan-save-512-byte-smb-requests-powerpoint/40027dfe-8b0d-46ae-ad03-e9a281c80d1f ?msgId=bf389234-42c7-4c83-be6b-863ec7f12477http://

I've not seen Word crash when selecting a smart folder - but it doesn't 'see' what's inside either. In other words when I select a smart folder in the file selector it appears to be an empty folder. And this isn't just a Word thing - lots of programs behave this way.
I use smart folders from the desktop. I have a folder in my Dock which contains all my smart folders. I open a smart folder from there and then double-click the document I want to open. It is a work around obviously but it works

• Upload Center 2010 error when saving Powerpoint 2010 file to SharePoint 2013

I'm experiencing an issue when attempting to save a Powerpoint 2010 file to our SharePoint 2013 farm. If a user opens the file in Edit mode, when saving the file Upload Center 2010 complains the upload failed, and PowerPoint 2010 displays a message
"Upload Failed The server version of this file was updated by another author" and 2 buttons are displayed "Keep My Version" and "Keep Server Version". This is incorrect though, because I confirmed on the server end
the changes have been made. If a user keeps hitting save, sometimes it won't fail during the upload.
If a user opens a file in Read Only mode, then clicks on the Edit button in Powerpoint 2010 and saves the changes, they are then prompted by the error "Refresh Required This file needs to be refreshed with updates. Click Save to refresh
and retry uploading your changes." Once again this is incorrect, as the changes have already been made in SharePoint.
I've recreated this error on multiple workstations, have tried re-installing Upload Center 2010, and have tried complete repairs of Office 2010. The occur continues to persist. This only occurs with Powerpoint 2010 though, and none of the other
Office 2010 products. I feel this is a bug in Upload Center 2010 with SharePoint 2013, because when I save from PowerPoint 2010 through a WebDAV connection over file explorer, it saves fine without any issue.
Has anyone run into this problem before? Below are some screenshots of the errors.
Here's the error when opening in Edit mode:
Here's the error when opening in Read Only mode, and then clicking on Edit in PowerPoint:

But please can anyone help me to avoid this problem again??
Thanks.

If the apps which are supposed to be especially designed for MS Office stuff, like QuickOffice or Documents to Go or Office², fail to handle your PowerPoints, by all means go and complain to the people who make them.
To ask Apple for improvements in Keynote, you can go to this site (but in the end the compatibility of Apple's programs with MS stuff will always be only partial).

So now user have to scroll down the save as list and select .ppt as file type. Is there nay way by which I can set the the default save as type to .ppt by changing the server settings or at template level.

• Audio can no longer be edited, only synched; crashes system

I have created a number of presentations in PowerPoint 2003 (.ppt), recorded my own voiceover narration, then published them to the web using Presenter 7. Now, just a few months later, I have gone back to some of these presentations to update them. When I open them in PowerPoint 2003 and try and edit the audio (which is also the best way to simply listen to the audio), the system crashes, saying a serious error has occurred.
All the audio files for each slide (eg, 1458677849.mp3) are still there in the 'audio' folder associated with the PowerPoint file, together with a matching file with suffix .lthmb for every .mp3 file). I can play these .mp3 files simply by clicking on them and playing them with Windows Media Player or iTunes. Indeed, if I select 'Synch audio' from the Presenter menu and hit the little green 'play' button, the audio plays fine there too. But as soon as I click 'Edit audio', the whole thing comes crashing down. This problem has occurred for a number of saved PowerPoint files, some of which were only saved a few months ago and have not been touched since being successfully published.
After a call yesterday to Adobe Customer support, I have applied the 7.0.1 and 7.0.2 patches but to no avail.
I have taken the PowerPoint (.ppt) files onto another computer running the same version of Adobe Presenter (supplied within Acrobat 9 Pro Extended). This other compuer runs PowerPoint 2007. Whether I open the saved PowerPoint 2003 files as 2003 (.ppt) or convert them to PowerPoint 2007 (.pptx) files, the same thing happens. I also get a Windows message saying there was a serious problem with the 'presenter powerpoint add-in', suggesting I disable it, which I have.
This problem is extremely frustrating. I have created presentations with a lot of narration and do not want to spend hours re-recording and re-synching everything again.
It is worth saying that I had very similar problems with Presenter 6, which used to create a .ppc file containing the audio. Almost every time I created a presentation, I would go back to make edits and, despite the .ppc file being many megabytes in size, it would be completely empty - all the audio had simply disappeared, sometimes just as a day after I'd saved them. After nights of frustration and rage, it turned out the problem was known about.
The audio in Presenter 7 seems to have a self-destruct deathwish on itself. It is shockingly unstable. Please help.

This may help. Audio files are actaully in the DATA folder. These can be editted with Soundbooth then they must be imported intot the specific slide in the Powerpoint presentation. Publish the presentation (as you'll read below) and *should* work This reply came from robva65 [email protected]
Let's try this: *Publish* the PPT deck you have. What you'll end up with is a set of files and folders, but I want you to look for the *data folder* that's created as a result of the publishing process. (Unless you specify where you're publishing to, Presenter will publish to a directory called "My Adobe Presentations" by default, so you may have to look there on your harddrive) Inside the data folder will be a list of mp3 files, which, if everything goes smoothly, should make it much, much easier to see which audio is used by a specific slide.
Here's what I mean: for example, after publishing, I have a data folder and inside I found the following file: a24x9x3.mp3 As I double click the mp3 file (which causes it to play using Windows Media on my laptop), I can hear that it corresponds to my slide 9 in my PPT deck. And there's corresponding mp3 files for each and every slide I have in my deck. I'm clicking another file (wouldn't it be nice to see what I'm doing???) a24x20x3.mp3, and that file corresponds to my slide 20 content in PowerPoint.
So again, give publishing in PowerPoint a shot and see if that makes it any easier. Well...not nearly as easy as recording in Audition/Soundbooth/Audacity, but it's close enough to hopefully dig you out of that hole you're in now.
Hope this helps ~rich

• Trying to Get Some Information Off the Computer

Hey.
I'm doing a powerpoint for a school project using the Microsoft Powerpoint System on the Mac. I need to be able to save it to some kind of disk, and be able to start it up on another teacher's regular PC. I'm putting in a blank disc, and I try to save it using the iDisk, or whatever, but it doesn't show up! I know the answer is probably really obvious, but I'm at a loss for what to do! If this is completely not right, then could someone just give me another explanation for moving all this information?
Thanks in advance,
Any help is GREATLY appreciated!

On the desktop, use Finder to go to the folder where you have saved your PowerPoint Presentation.
Insert a blank CD into the disk drive. After you see the icon for a CD on your desktop, click on the saved powerpoint presentation and while holding down the mouse button drag it, and drop it, on the CD icon.

• Media Encoder CS5 - Source File has a Bad Header

I've got a system demonstration recorded as a .wmv file. I tried adding it to Adobe Media Encoder and I get the following message: "The source file has a bad header. Please check that it is a valid file."
Here is my file name: Web App III part 1.wmv
I even tried changing the file name to: WebApp3Rec1.wmv
It still won't work. Help!

Hi, a little more info that may help. I have saved PowerPoint 2010 files as .wmv on one computer and if I then try to convert them using Adobe Media encoder on a different computer I get the same bad header message as you. (First computer running vista, second running W7.) However, if I use the second computer to save the PowerPoint file as a .wmv then Media Encoder has no trouble converting it.
It is very frustrating.

• Generating TTS Crashes Captivate 7

I'm working with another developer and she is having trouble generating TTS. Every time she tries, Captivate crashes. She has uninstalled and reinstalled Captivate per Adobe's recommendation. Nothing seems to fix the problem. The thing is, she can send me the cptx file she created, and I can generate the TTS with no trouble at all. This indicates to me that it isn't something in the way she has written and/or copied the slide notes, but rather something with how Captivate is installed.
Has anyone run into this issue? It's a real problem, and it delaying a lot of our projects.
Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks.

I'm having the same issue. Seems like there's no pattern as I've tried numerous differences and can't isolate problem since I can get it to work once in a while and think I've figured it out, only to find the next slide crashes it again. When it does crash I get nothing but desktop in a split second; no progress window with a 33% complete bar. Nada.
Here's what I have:
Mac OSX Mavericks
Captivate 7.0.1.237
Using Bridgette
Here's what I've tried:
Did a search and replace in PPT before import to omit special characters including swithching out "@" for " at ".
Tried generating audio one slide at a time rather than batching it with Speech Managment trying to isolate the bad text
Tried saving PowerPoint file as PPT instead of PPTX since I saw it converts it on the import. Worked once, but likely coincidence.
Removed imported text from slide; Copied text from Notes field in PPT to Text Wrangler and then to CpWorked once, but likely coincidence.
Renamed Preferences folder and restarted Cp to build new
Ran the CleanPreferencesMac in the Utils folder.
I'm no further along...

• After updating to mavericks microsoft office doesnt work !

Just realised after updating OS to mavericks my microsoft office 2011 stopped working properly. Lets see:. powerpoint issues
1. No background colour visualy can see on the slides on the left corner
2. Powerpoint quits unexpectidely
3. Slides show doesnt work, quits or black screen appears
4. After editing sand saving powerpoint don't save any changes
Is anyone have solution? or expierencing the same issues, please advise.
Still working on microsoft office it closes as well unexpectidely.
Possible it is no worth upgrade to mavericks as is really annoying when i need to work with office.

My issue is now fixed.
Here's what I did. (I don't know which part actually fixed it, though.)
- made sure that Excel was not running in the background (it wasn't)
- deleted the preferences in ~/Library/Preferences for Microsoft Office
- deleted the preferences in /Library/Preferences for Microsoft Office
- rebooted
- re-started Excel: it started with a screen saying "Your copy of Microsoft Office is now authorized."
- in Excel, went under "Help" and chose "Check Updates"; this found a small update, which I applied
- in Excel, did Check Updates again which then found a much bigger update, which I too applied
- checked updates again to be told it was up to date
From there it seemed to work as it should. Hopefully, this will help someone in the same situation.

• WORD, EXCEL, and POWERPOINT now crashing when saving new file

I have Microsoft Office 2004 WORD, EXCEL, and POWERPOINT, which were working just fine for several days on 10.5.1. (all updates are current). Now, every time I try to save a new document, all 3 apps crash, with the following thing in common in the crash log:

This doesn't happen when opening an existing file, and saving changes to it. Note: A few days ago, I ran Disk Utility to do a permissions repair for another issue - could this have caused this issue?

After the required restart, everything worked fine!!! It seems like there was definitely a problem with the version that was installed via Software Update.

• Powerpoint 2013 throwing 'File in Use' errors when saving to a network drive, file is NOT in use

One of our sites is having a strange issue when saving to a network location in Powerpoint. I'm not sure it's a Powerpoint problem, but it's a place to start...
When saving a ppt to a mapped network drive (the client is running Windows 8 / Office 2013, the network drive is a DFS share, pointed to a Server 2012 machine if that matters), users will almost always get the following error:
"Someone else is working in (filepath\name) right now. Please try again later."
This happens regardless of where the file is being saved on the network drive, in fact it happens even when there is no pre-existing file with that name in the location. So, even if I'm saving a brand new copy of test.pptx to F:\Share\PPT where there
is not currently a test.pptx, I get the error.
Word, Excel, and all other tested apps save properly. Powerpoint can save correctly to the local computer, but not to the network drive or to My Documents (which redirects to the same network drive).
When the error pops up, if I look in Open Files in Computer Management on the Fileserver, I see the file I'm trying to save listed as being open, but it shows 'Disconnected' rather than a username.
Any suggestions would be appreciated - again, not sure that this is a Powerpoint problem - could be Windows 8 or some mysterious DFS thing...
Thanks.

Hello,
Been having a very similar issue in our environment and just came across this thread while Googling and looking for answers.
In our case, we have Windows 7 clients and 3 main files servers - 2 are Server 2008 R2, and one is Server 2012. We use PeerLink File Collaboration to sync the files between
the servers (similar concept to DFS). For us, it seems to happen specifically with Excel 2013, and only when saving to the Server 2012 file server. I can reproduce the message pretty much every time. After seeing your post,
I tried it in Powerpoint just out of curiosity, but it saved properly - Word saves properly as well.
Been doing a bunch of testing to try and narrow it down, and this is what I've found:
Excel 2013 -> Server 2012 = error message.
Excel 2013 -> Server 2008 R2 = no error message.
Excel 2010 -> Server 2008 AND Server 2012 = no error message.
We've been leaning towards the PeerLink replication as the culprit up to this point, but last night I did some testing with the PeerLink Collaboration turned off, and
still received the error message.. so now I'm even more confused!
I see that it's been a few months since your post.. have you made any progress here?

• Problem when saving a PowerPoint 2008 for Mac file to PDF.

When I save my PowerPoint 2008 for Mac file as a PDF, the text/font comes out wrong in the PDF -- kind of looks degraded (thinner, darker, more pixilated). I've tried changing the font in the PowerPoint file many times and tried saving it as a PDF both directly and through print -- but each time the text/font doesn't come through correctly in the PDF. The images/photos in the PowerPoint file all convert to the PDF just fine. Can anyone help?

wont send on email when saved as powerpoint document as its 59mb, yet the same document on my mac saved as powerpoint is 7mb ?

Came here to complain about this maddening feature. Why it doesn't save the PDF out to a separate instance of the document is beyond me. PLENTY of us want to save the PDF without the layers, and want the PSD separate.
"Oh good, I've completed this document.... let me just save it out as a PDF for client delivery and... Now all the work is gone."
Genius, Adobe, genius. But it's cool--we'll just keep paying out the nose on a subscription basis with no fix for small errors like this.

Yes this sounds interesting. Can I update to that from the PDF Export I have just renewed? How much would that cost?
