Sblive problems

Hi all,
I am trying to get an SBLive soundcard which I have recently installed to work.  I have a Gigabyte motherboard (NForce4) with onboard sound (AC97) which I have disabled.  The SBLive has been used by me in another machine and works fine.
All the correct modules seem to load:
$ lsmod | grep snd
snd_seq_oss 33408 0
snd_seq_midi_event 6400 1 snd_seq_oss
snd_seq 51984 4 snd_seq_oss,snd_seq_midi_event
snd_pcm_oss 50848 0
snd_mixer_oss 17920 1 snd_pcm_oss
snd_emu10k1 121892 0
snd_rawmidi 21152 1 snd_emu10k1
snd_ac97_codec 95136 1 snd_emu10k1
snd_ac97_bus 2176 1 snd_ac97_codec
snd_pcm 84100 3 snd_pcm_oss,snd_emu10k1,snd_ac97_codec
snd_seq_device 7436 4 snd_seq_oss,snd_seq,snd_emu10k1,snd_rawmidi
snd_timer 22148 3 snd_seq,snd_emu10k1,snd_pcm
snd_page_alloc 8840 2 snd_emu10k1,snd_pcm
snd_util_mem 3840 1 snd_emu10k1
snd_hwdep 7712 1 snd_emu10k1
snd 49124 11 snd_seq_oss,snd_seq,snd_pcm_oss,snd_mixer_oss,
snd_emu10k1,snd_rawmidi,snd_ac97_codec,snd_pcm,snd_seq_device,snd_timer,snd_hwdep
soundcore 8160 1 snd
But there is nothing in /proc:
$ cat /proc/asound/cards
--- no soundcards ---
Alsamixer bombs out with a unsurprising (in light of above) error:
$ alsamixer
alsamixer: function snd_ctl_open failed for default: No such device
lspci shows the device:
$ /usr/sbin/lspci -v | grep -i audio
01:07.0 Multimedia audio controller: Creative Labs SB Live! EMU10k1 (rev 05)
The wierd thing is that when I first installed it, I got these same sort of errors and symptoms, but then I updated the system with pacman, getting the latest udev (087-1) and kernel (2.6.15.6-2), after which I rebooted, and got sound!  There was a /proc/asound/card0 entry, tested xmms and Doom3, all was fine.  But a subsequent reboot resulted in the above symptoms again, and I have rebooted about 3 or 4 times since then (just in case!), but with no joy.
I have tried running /etc/start_udev with no result.  I have also tried both forcing snd_emu10k1 in /etc/rc.conf, and disabling it and manually loading it later.
I was wondering if there is something basic I am neglecting?
Any ideas anyone?
Thanks in advance,
Rob

Hi all,
I've managed to nail this one (I hope - I'll be checking /proc/asound/cards for several reboots now!)
A recurring entry in /var/log/kernel.log aroused my suspicion:
Mar 15 16:12:22 aquilonia ACPI: PCI interrupt for device 0000:01:07.0 disabled
Mar 15 16:12:22 aquilonia EMU10K1_Audigy: probe of 0000:01:07.0 failed with error -5
Which prompted me to move the soundcard to another PCI slot.  Now when I `cat /proc/asound/cards`, I get:
0 [Live ]: EMU10K1 - SBLive! Platinum [CT4760P]
SBLive! Platinum [CT4760P] (rev.5, serial:0x80401102) at 0xc000, irq 17
Sound now works (xmms is streaming from WickedKarma as I type 8) ), and it's survived two reboots so far!
I hope this helps anyone else who has a similar issue.
Regards,
Rob

  • Audio problems with SBLive! 5.1 and Windows XP Pro,

I just reinstalled Windows XP Pro from a slipstreamed CD with SP2 on it. (That means I can't just remove SP2 without reinstalling Windows.) Now, when I play a game the audio skips and stutters for the first 5-0 min of gameplay. The skipping and stuttering goes away eventually, but its REALLY annoying. This is the only hardware problem I've had with SP2, and I would like to know if there is a patch in the planning to fix all the SP2 Sound Blaster problems, or do we all have to find our own work around for these things.
If anyone has a solution for this please let me know. I've already installed the UniDriver thing, and it still acts up. I've tried removing and reinstalling everything, cleaning out my registry, and rebooting. Defragging my HD did not work either. Nothing seems to work.
    CPU= AMD Athlon XP 2600+
    RAM=704Mb
    Video=GeForce 4 MX440 AGP 28DDR
    Please help soon.

I think I may have solved my problem. I recently installed Full Spectrum Warrior. I installed it to a different dri've than all of my other games. Lo and behold, no audio problems. After some further investigation, I believe that the audio problem lies in an old hard disk dri've that is in the beginning stages of failure. After I actually thought about it, my load times from this hard disk have been taking forever, but Full Spectrum Warrior loads very quickly. The dri've is going to die! But I guess it's ok, the dri've is almost 0 years old, and this is the 3rd computer its been in.
    Thanks for your help,

  • Problems with my SBLive! Platinum and

I've recently upgraded to Windows XP. I've done a format, and a clean install of XP, and keep having problems with my sound. The problem with the default Microsoft driver that XP installs is that all my games crash after a few minutes of playing. ALL of them crash. The problem with the latest Creative drivers is, sound doesn't play properly. It skips, pops, slows down, and causes my system to run very slowly. Device Manager doesn't show any IRQ conflicts, and DXDiag doesn't report any problems.
I don't know what to do. Any suggestions?

I have a reverse problem! The card worked fine wiyh the XP Pro drivers. I installed SBLW-XPWEB-W4-US. I now get an error message "ERROR! HRESULT error at InitialiseSound, QueryInterface(IA3d) 80004002" when the game starts to load. I'm running XP Pro and a Sound Blaster Li've! Patinum. Elsewhere on this board Jeremy said to upgrade the driver and install the rest of the programs. They won't install as there are no previous versions being that when I tried to use the CD that came with the card it said it was not compatable with this this version of Windows (XP Pro). I tried to run the diagnostic program in the Creative folder but it doesn't open. The diagnostics help is useless as it just says "run the diagnostic problem. This card and the same card on another computer worked fine on Win 98SE. WHAT GIVES!!!

  • Noisy Problem on SBLive!

    Hello everybody...
I have an SoundBlaster Li've! 5. OEM, the card works fine if i use only EQ Effects in the Surround Mixer, if i change to Auditorium or EAX - Normal Effects in the other types of effects my sound get's very noisy, very irritating, even restoring default's the problem stays on.
I can't figure out what's the **bleep** problem.
It's very boring to play without this cool effects so if anyone can help me.
I tested the card in at least 2 PC's of friends of mine, my card on their's PC's works fine without this noises, but their's on mine PC noises the same way.
So i came to think that it was something wrong with my motherboard, i then removed my card and used the Realtek Sound of my MSI KT3-Ultra2-E (without RAID feature) and using Auditorium effects on this soundcard there was no noise, was fine.
I'm now using drivers of the KXproject and it's working fine, i used some Chorus effects and there was no noise, but i want to solve this problem and start using the Creative drivers to be able to use Surrond Mixer because the KXproject's driver i don't know yet how to use similar effects to see if there is noise as in Surrond Mixer and Creative Driver.
Before having this MSI KT3 Ultra2-E i had an ASUS A7S-333 but due to a lack of problemns, among then there was this noisy effect though, i changed to the MSI, for some period i could solve the problem disabling an feature on my motherboard BIOS called 'PCI IDE Bus Master'.
But now even with this disabled the problem still bother's me.
I even thought that the problem was Eletromagnetic Interference, but doing small LAN's in my house, my friend with same SoundBlaster Li've! his soundcard were fine, no noises, but mine did.
I then discarded that that was the problem and still think that is my motherboard or config's on it.
    I'm using Windows XP + SP2.
    My PC config follows:
    AMD XP 2200+ Throughbred.
    MSI KT3 Ultra2-E (No RAID).
Sparkle nVidia GeForce 4 MX 440 64 MB AGP 4X.
Samsung 256 MB DDR 333 MHz.
    SoundBlaster Li've! 5. (OEM).
    Maxtor D740X 40 GB 7200 RPM 2 MB CACHE.
2 PCI of RealTek Ethernet card's. (i even removed then but no sucess)
I can if anyone wants, to post photos of the entire PC, i just want to solve this **bleep** problem!
    Thanks in advance...

  • Help - Problems with SBLive 5.1 and Wi

I was getting a lot of system crashes in Windows XP and Microsoft was telling me it was caused by the Creative drivers being out of date. I updated them but now I have no sound at all (although I haven't had any crashes either). I tried completely uninstalling the SBLi've programs. I downloaded a new version from the website and installed but it is not working correctly either. Any ideas? In device manager the sound devices show normally.
    Thanks for the help.

  • Solaris 7 Software Installation on x86 System Problem

Experienced error message "disk not found" just prior to Solaris execution of final installation process. This was during Interactive installation. Also recieved "cannot determine boot device name". Could not use set env command in order to set the boot device. It is telling us that there is no boot device set up. Need some information/commands that will enable me to get over this problem and complete the software installation.
This could very well be a simple fix, I just don't have the knowledge bas eto effect it. Please contact at [email protected] or 540 657-6585.
    Thanks
    Ken

I hope this can help you. I recently posted the similar question on the development group and got help from 'agood214' which I think is the best answer.
(All credit should be to agood214)
Okay, here's the followup and results for my install method.
    1. It worked
    2. Partition magic and Boot magic are not needed to make this happen.
    3. Partition and boot magic do not recognize the solaris partitions on the second master IDE. In fact they give an error ( #110) and offer to "fix" the dirve which will corrupt the install of Solaris.
    4. I had scanned the newsgroups and found a utiliuty called XOSL - Extended Operating System Loader at http://www.xosl.org it works like and absolute charm!
=== Other installation notes - mostly my machine is not on the Hardware Comaptibility List but I figured I'd give it a try. System is a K6-III 450 Mhz ( not on HCL) Iwill XA-100A Plus motherboard ( not on HCL ) Sblive PCI valueboard ( not on HCL ) Siig high speed serial board - PCI (not on HCL) Diamond 56k PCI modem ( not on HCL ) I had to remove the modem and serial card as well as dispable PnP in the BIOS.
    Then everything loaded pretty normal.
    ====
agood214 was using two physical drivers, but I tried on one 13 GB Hard Drive with 4 partitions (Solaris7, Win98, Win2000, data-partition) and working beautifully. In my case, I didn't have to disable anything in the BIOS to get them work. Just read though the manual in XOSL if you want to use this boot-loader and it is very easy to install. NOTE: you can not use 'instant boot' in XOSL to boot with the combination of WIN-OS and Solaris. Besides it, everything is prefect.

  • MS-6380 Memory Problem

I have a MS-6380E with the latest BIOS and chipset drivers. Athlon 1.5 Ghz processor, Geo4 Ti series card with 64MB ram and latest drivers and an SBLive Platinum 5.1 card, with the latest drivers. Windows XP Pro is the operating system. The system has 2 PC2100 256MB sticks of DDR ram on the board. This past weekend I tried to install a 3rd chip, PC2100 512MB chip to bring the system up to a Gig of ram. The system would reboot immediatly upon logging into Windows. I took the memory back and exchanged it for another. Installed it with similar results. I tried all three slots with the new memory and the two existing. No, I didn't try the new memory by itself. I finally go it to appear stable for a little bit but I also play Dark Age of Camelot and the latest symptoms were that the system would kick me back to the desktop as soon as I got to the initial "connecting" screen in Dark Age. I also had other odd behaviour with the additional ram installed like my modem taking longer to validate my connection. When I went back to the pre-existing configuration 512MB total, everything would stabilize. The DDR brand was Centron, I know it's not the same manufacturor as my other two sticks but I don't recall the brand on those.  Also, just in case you needed to know Dark Age of Camelot is an MMORPG. I checked their tech section and nothing on this problem and their game. I've since returned the memory and have resigned to maxing out at 512MB tho the system specs say I can go to 3GB. I really like this board but am frustrated at the memory problem.

  • How to enable Creative Software in Vista with SBLive 5.1 Digi

******NOTE: This workaround involves using a 3rd party driver, and is not officially supported by Creative Labs ******
Please add any comments on the original post, found here: http://forums.creative.com/creativel...essage.id=7420
***this solution seems a little hit and miss, i have had everything working for two days but just installed the latest ATI 7.2 catalyst driver and what do you know, the only thing that works now is wave studio, all other programs put the windows "this program has stopped working" message. I do not know whether or not this is directly related to the ATI driver or a windows update, but i have tried uninstalling and reinstalling everything. It has worked and i assume still does for some people....so this is not a guaranteed solution, it seems to be down to each machine as to whether this workaround works. I still have working sound, and its just as good, just no EAX anymore, and the functionality of most the programs seems to have disappeared. Still probably worth a try and you have nothing to lose*** I believe i have found a solution for users of SoundBlaster Live 5. Digital users on Vista. This workaround may support other soundblaster live cards, i have only been able to test it on mine so far so if anyone wants to test other cards, please let me know so we can add them to this list. This workaround should allow you to install your creative software from your installation disk, with a high level of functionality in VISTA, as well as getting your SBLive card working very nicely. So far, i have managed to use:
Playcentre, with all options including EAX Recorder, althought it will only let you record from the microphone EAX control panel, including modifying, importing and exporting of all Enviroments, FX and EQs Wavestudio - fully operational Audio HQ - Speakers and surround mixer dont work - EAX control panel will deal with most of this, and going to the sound option in Vista control panel will let you enable bass/treble and speaker config. Windows DriversMindisc Studio - This seems to work, although i no longer have a minidisc so cant confirm to what extent Remote Centre - as above. To actually achieve this is relatively simple, but i think a few people havent done all the steps, just the first few, and are left a bit confused as to how to set it up. If you follow these steps you should have nothing to set up, by the last step you should have a system which thinks it has a SBlive installed, and all the standard creative software in the start menu, to use almost as normal. It is relatively uncomplicated to do and takes about 5-20 minutes.
STEP ONE If your card is currently installed IE: it appears as recognised in the device manager, begin by uninstalling it. You should ideally begin this whole process with your card uninstalled. STEP TWO Download the following driver:http://download.kxproject.lugosoft.com/downloads/kxdrv3538m-full.exe
** This is a third party driver and is not endorsed or supported by creative.
What this driver will do is allow your pc to recognise your SBlive. Download the driver somewhere convienient EG: desktop. Do not install yet
STEP THREE Reboot your system, and when the popup comes up asking where drivers are , ignore and close them - do not direct the systems to the drivers as you are going to install them yourself. Once you have shut all the popup windows and driver requests, Click on the KXDRV3538m-full.exe you should have on your desktop. This will unpack the drivers and should automatically run the installation program. Follow the onscreen prompts to fully install the driver and the KX software. Once you have followed this installation, you should be asked to reboot, do so and when you reload you should have sound when you logon to windows.
This is only half of the solution, you must continue the with next steps
STEP FOUR - CREATIVE SOFTWARE Ok so now you want to put all the creative software you were used to on XP onto your system. This as is straightforward as you could want it to be - simply put your creative disk in and install the card drivers and software as per usual, you should have no errors and the install should complete in 5-0 minutes - As per usual you will be asked to restart which is fine.
STEP FIVE - Completed When windows loads up now you should still have sound, except now your system recognises your card - and by going into the start menu you should find that nearly all creative programs that you installed - with the exception of surround mixer will work, in some cases with full functionality. Please refer to the top of the thread to see what programs offer what. ***Other required workaroundsTo enable the microphone in Recorder, you must right click on the .exe in the root folder(C:/Program files/Creative/Programs/...), select Properties > compatability and set it to XP SP2
***Notes Bass, treble and speaker settings can be found in the Sound option on the control panel, OPEN sound, click on speakers (SBLIVE) and there will be an option TONE. Bizarrely these sliders dont slide - clicking on them activates them and sets them to the middle, but you can not change them. However it sets it to the right amount, so any bass/treble problems can be resolved using the EQ in your audio player, or in the EAX control panel. To my knowledge, once you have completed stage five, you can actually uninstall the KX drivers that you installed in Step Two. This driver is only needed to allow you to install the official Creative Drivers and everything should still function after the uninstall of the KX driver. You must follow all steps to get your creative software working. i currently have the following programs working in VISTA:
    www.thebast.com/Citech2007/itworks.jpg
***I must also add that i am not responsible for these drivers, and will not take the credit for them as that would be highly unfair on the guy (whose name i dont know) who went to all the effort to create them. I simply tried his drivers, and then tried installing the creative software once i had which is how i got to writing this guide. As you can see from the screengrab above, this worked.

    Hi Don,
I did answer a similar question but of course cannot find the thread anymore.
Your expression to increment the counter is OK. In CP5 the increment action is not listed anymore in the dropdown lists of the advanced action.
In your analysis you do forget this: the user can rollover twice on the same area, not? And do you want all text captions to remain visible once they have been made visible?
Perhaps another approach: create a user variable for each Rollover slidelet, initially set to 0. In the action executed on Rollover check first if its variable = 1, in that case only the Text Caption has to be made invisible again (in case you hide it when other rollover areas are activated), if it is 0, you change the variable to 1, add it to your counter, show the Text Caption and hide the other Text Captions, and then only check the value of the counter, if it is 4 you show the button (or enable it, but I do not like to show a disabled button to a user).
As for using a counter to do something, I have used something like that in my Menu Template (second use case). Here is the link to that blog post:

  • MSI neo2 platinum problem, forced to reset BIOS everytime I turn on the PSU

I just got my neo2 platinum mobo. Everytime I switch it ON all the led's at the back (diagnostic) turn red/orange and never turn green.
I have to reset the bios everytime to get it to post successfully. (bios is the original bios, no flashes done)
    Processor: 3000+ (939)
Anyone else have this problem? what causes it?
[update] the bios version is 1.3 which is the latest on the msi website
    System Specs..
    AMD Athlon 64 3000+ 90nm (socket 939)
    MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum
    1 GB Kingston HyperX DDR 400 CS2
    SBlive
    Nvidia GeForce4 Ti4200 128MB MEM
    Logitech MX510
1x80GB WD HDD with 8MB cache
1x120GB WD HDD with 8MB cache
    Lite-On 48x CD-RW
    NEC 16X DVD RW Drive
RAIDMAX Black Aluminum Gaming Case with 6 case fans and 420W PSU

I think the power supply may be the problem
Once you reset the bios you don't need the amps to spin up the drives, as they are already spinning, saving you about 3 amps I bet. If the newer bios doesn't help, try unplugging half those case fans, the non boot drive, and take the cd's out of you optical drives so they dont spin up, then try cold booting your box a couple times. If it works you know you need a new power supply.
If it doesn't perhaps you've got a grounding problem? Are you positive that nothing metal is touching your motherboard where it shouldn't? If that isn't it, Id  assume the cmos never really clears, and then take the battery out of the motherboard for a good hour while the power supply is unplugged, then give it another shot. I've seen a bunch of DFI boards do weird stuff like that before, the exact same thing actually. Nvidia has a few odd issues with the nforce chipsets and the cmos.
Oh, since you asked, 3000+ is 1.8 ghz. It will probably run at 2.4ghz easy (1.4 volts), thats a 90nm chip

  • GF4 AVI Capture/sync problem and solution.

    1.9ghz Athlon, 512MB RAM, 2x80GB hds, G4 ti4400 128MB card, SBLive Xgamer sound card. Win98SE OS.
Now that I've fixed my Mpeg2 capture in WinProducer 2 and WinDVR, I've still had a problem with raw AVI capture. Audio/video sync is usually off with programs like VirtualVCR, iuVCR and even Adobe Premiere 6 (when it recognizes the WDM drivers at all) irregardless of resolution/sound encoding.
However, http://www.virtualdub.org/">VirtualDub works perfectly... I've managed to record 720x480 uncompressed or lossless compressed (HuffyUV codec) video with 48khz stereo PCM sound, no sync or frame drop problems.
Hope this helps. Too bad FAT32 doesn't let me capture more than a few minutes of full video before it hits the 4 GB limit and WinXP is impractical for me to upgrade to.  :(
Can't win 'em all, I guess

    Welcome to the forums
    A battery pull is recommended:
    1. Remove the battery while phone is turned on
    2. Wait a few seconds before inserting it again
    3. Allow the long boot up process to finish (takes a few minutes usually)
This clears most software issues that occur on blackberries from time to time. You could also use Quickpull, a free app that simulates a battery pull without physically removing the battery: http://software.crackberry.com/product.asp?id=27660
A battery pull reclaims memory lost during application usage and clears minor software errors that creep in over time. The blackberry runs an OS just like your PC runs windows and the battery pull is the equivalent of a reboot/restart on your computer.

  • Sblive and Delta-L

    Hi guys!
I have a problem that i really need some help in.
I have this old Sblive OEm card that im trying to install on my Athlon Xp 2500+, MSi Delta-l mainboard and 2 cruicial 256 mb ram. My graphics card is a Geforce 2 (yeh yeh i know, im embarrased).
Anyways, so i put my card into a free PCI slot and the computer goes fine into WinXP. However, when detecting the drivers for the sblive card, the computer freezes. Ive tried disabling the soundcard on the mailboard, but without any help.
So.. Do you guys have any piece of advice for me?
    Thnx alot in advance.

Thanks Deathstalker! Hi from Vero Beach btw
i had tried to use the SBLive on my board but i kept getting crackling/stuttering phases. it wasnt a loose connection or debris or anything, and i updated the bios and drivers. it still had this problem so i removed the SBlive and went back to the onboard. the problem persisted with the onboard! oddly, when i removed the promise UltraATA card that came with the WD Hard drive, the sound is absolutely fine with the onboard, and now im considering putting the SBlive back on. i had wanted to settle this issue before buying the audigy2 platinum, and i hope going to IRQ 5 helps when i get home (i bet it will). you seem to be into online gaming, would you mind putting your two cents in here?

  • Which is better for framerate -- onboard sound or SBLive 5.1?

    Heya,
I have an SBLive 5.1 and I was just going to pitch it when I assembled my new rig with the K8T Neo.  But I read a review on HardOCP (here) and it said the onboard sound is incredibly CPU intensive and Q3 took a 21% (!) framerate hit with the onboard sound activated.
They go on to advise that one should use a PCI-based sound solution, but I'm sure they mean one of the newer SB Audigy-based cards and not my (old) SB Live...
So my question is this -- is the SB Live going to be better for gaming performance (framerate) than the K8T Neo's onboard sound?  I hate to have two sound systems on my PC (redundancies always seem to cause problems) but a 20% hit on gaming is unacceptable when I'm coughing up this cash for a supposedly "high end" solution.
    Thanks!
    Z

While it is true that onboard sound can have a major impact on game performance (~20%), what you may not realize is that adding a PCI based solution will not eliminate the entire performance hit.  In other words, even the most modern PCI based sound cards (Audigy 2, for example) do not completely eliminate the load which audio puts on a system.  To see an example of this, Tomshardware conducted a benchmark almost a year ago which compared the framerates of several sound solutions.
Note: the Realtek chip (ALC650 AC'97 Audio CODEC) used in the THG benchmark is an older version of the same integrated audio chip on the K8T Neo (ALC655 AC'97 Rev 2.3 Audio CODEC).  There may be a modest improvement in performance with the newer CODEC.
Now, concerning your soundcard: although your SB 5.1 Live! card may put more load on your system than a new Audigy 2 or Hercules card, it should certainly improve performance when compared to the on-board audio solution.  Sound quality should also improve (although if you have 6-channel speakers, you could only run 5 channels of audio).
The SB Live! series produced beastly little sound cards.  If you want to further improve sound quality (or need more audio channels), consider an inexpensive (~$40) Turtle Beach Santa Cruz.  Or, if you want to improve your gaming performance further, you could shell out ~$70-$100 and get a top-of-the-line OEM sound card.
In general, on-board audio blows.  You get what you pay for.

  • SBLIVE 5.1 : dts drops using spdif under zoomplayer and recl

Hello there... I really need a big help.
I'm usign a personnale HT PC done with athlon 2800 XP, gforce 5200 and SBLIVE 5..
I plugged SBLIVE using spdif out connector to my sherwood R-945 ( DTS, DD, DPL ... ). Everything works fine under Dolby Digital 5. sound, except maybe some tearing and bypassed it using reclock.
    Ok.
So I tried DTS sound, the sound seems to be really great ... except of : some drops which happens really randomly ... using again this spdif connector ..
Can someone have or had the same problem and found a solution ( drivers ... firmware ... configuration tools ).
    Thx a lot,
    Cyril

same here. Win7 media player isn't allowing me to go into "Advanced..." options to edit SPDIF settings, and VLC player SPDIF isnt working either.
The other strange thing I've noticed is that previously (in Vista64) I would only receive output to the optical when I specifically instructed applications to do so; however now in Win7 64 drivers I'm getting output to the optical from audio intended for 6 channel analogue. It seems like there's an option that is patching audio for the 6chan out to optical out. I am still getting output on the 6channel, but it is also goes to the optical.
This is a fresh install of Win7 64 and installed the SBXF_PCDRV_LB_2_8_003.exe drivers.

  • SB Live 5.1 & SBLIVE not work

am having the same problem... I have a SB Li've 5. (SB0220) and I did a clean install of Windows XP Home SP2 and Windows doesn't even detect it.... I have the Sound Blaster Li've Installation cd and it won't install the drviers because it says I do not detect the SB Li've card...any ideas.... I have a Giga-Byte 8IK00 (Rev 2.0) with on board audio turned off...it worked fine before I re-formatted my machine any ideas? Also Last night I took out the 5. and inserted my SB Li've X-Gamer and still nothing my bios is up to date any ideas?

I am having the same problems with mine ( SB0220 ) Soundblaster Li've Dolby Digital 5..
I have tried using Li'veDrvUni-Pack(ENG) and Li'veDrvPack none of them detect the
soundcard. I have no cd to use with it, before this I used an intergrated soundcard on
my motherboard. When I put in the soundcard ( SB ) I disabled the motherboard one. After
I checked device manager I noticed it added something that said "Creative SBLIVE!
Gameport" and in other devices it added "Multimedia Audio
Controller" it is almost like it is detecting it but not as an audio device, or maybe
not the device the driver install is looking for . Then I
checked your webpage saw to change the windows setting to "PIO only" I did that took out
the card and unistalled the devices it was said to be, then reinstalled with the same
problem. I am unsure how to do the BIOS check and make sure pci 2. is acti've, if you
can tell me how to check the bios problems, then I will and check back in, but this is
less than 5 months old computer and I have not had any problems with other devices ( ie
: the new ehternet card I installed )
