Scan document sent to PC problem

Can someone tell me how to send a scanned document via email to a PC User. The PC User cannot print and has problems viewing it. Many thanks.

What format is the scanned document in?
Does the file have the correct suffix?
Are you sending it as a Windows friendly attachment?

Now that I have upgraded to Yosemite I have a problem when I scan documents.  Formerly, a window showed today's activity.  Now, I have to search through all the documents in my history to find what I just scanned.  Sometimes I can't even find the doc.

Most scan apps have a setting whereas, your scan(s) can go directly to your desktop.  No need to "hunt" for scanned docs.

  • I am unable to attach scanned documents or Pictures to eamils. The size of the scanned documents and the pictures are well below the 20MB limit. I can connect Exl and Word documents with not problem

When trying to attach a scanned document or picture to and email, the process goes not forever and there is no end, it just keeps working and tries to attache these documents/pictures. In the lower left hand corner of the screen it says "waiting for mail. yahoo. com"

I do backup with iCloud.  I can't wait until the new iMac is available so that I can once again have my files in more than 1 location without needing to rely solely on the cloud.
I also rely on iTunes and my MacBook and Time Machine as well as backing up to iCloud. I know many users know have gone totally PC free, but I chose to use iCloud merely as my third backup.
I assume that the restore would result in my ability to open Pages and Numbers and fix the problem with deleting apps, but this would also mean that if my Numbers documents still exist solely within the app and are just not on iCloud for some reason that they would be gone forever.  Is that right?
In a word, yes. In a little more detail.... When you restore from an iCloud backup, you must erase the device and start all over again. There is no other way to access the backup in iCloud without erasing the device. Consequently, you are starting all over again. Therefore, it would also be my assumption that Pages and Numbers will work again and that the deleting apps issues would be fixed as well.
If the documents are not in the backup, and you do not have a backup elsewhere, the documents could be gone forever.

  • Acrobat 9 Pro Optimize Scanned Documents problems

Acrobat 9 Pro Optimize Scanned Documents only seems to affect the first page of the document when I try to remove the gray background that is an artifact of the scanning which I didn't do.

But that's just plain stupid! I don't want 20 windows open when I drag 20 files into Acrobat for printing. I just want one.
I wonder why they have done it like this.
There are a lot of things missing from Acrobat 7 that I wish they hadn't removed. I thought upgrades was supposed to make a program better, not worse! Now I have to find work-arounds for a lot of things that was easy before and now doesn't work at all or works but takes a lot of time to do.

SERVER CONNECTION ERROR WHEN SCANNING DOCUMENT TO E-MAIL

    Hey @oooth,
Welcome to the HP Support Forum.
I understand you're unable to currently use your HP ENVY 5530 e-All-in-One Printer's scan to email feature.  I would like to assist you with this.
Are you an Instant Ink subscriber?  If yes, please click here and scroll down to review the steps that I posted in my reply. These suggestions are only applicable to Instant Ink users.
If you are not an Instant Ink subscriber, try the following:
Touch your printer's wireless icon  to confirm that you're connected to your wireless network.  If not, click here for instructions on how to get connected.
Next, touch  to ensure your webservices are enabled.  (If you are seeing an @hpeprint.com address you are connected).
If your ePrint/webservices are not enabled, touch OK to complete the setup.  Or, if you try to enable them and you run into the same server connection issue, I recommend you restore your printer's factory defaults and start from scratch with your wireless and webservices setup.  Also follow these steps if you have ePrint enabled, but still cannot use scan to email.  Here's how:
    Touch Wrench/Setup Icon
    Touch Tools
    Touch Restore Factory Defaults
    * Note that if you complete these steps you will be resetting your printer's wireless, webservices, scan to email  setup and any other customized settings.  If you have a customized ePrint address you will lose it permanently.  Click here for more information on custom ePrint addresses.
After completing the restore, click here for instructions on how to setup scan to email.
Please let me know the result of your troubleshooting by responding to this post.  If I have helped you resolve the issue, feel free to give me a virtual high-five by clicking the 'Thumbs Up' icon below.

  • Problems sending scanned documents

I have no idea if this is the correct are to post, but hear goes.  I have scanned some documents and saved them to a folder.  But when I send them as an attachment the recipient cannot open them.  They are showing as pdf documents when I open them on my computer, unti I send them and then they turn into a zip folder can anybody help me please, as I have to send lots of scanned documents at the moment.

Try compressing the folder, and sending the compressed file as an attachment to the email.
To compress: select the folder , then in Finder. File / Compress ...
You will end up with another file with the same name.zip
The reciepient only has to double click on the attachment for it to "uncompress".
(You can trash the zip file at any time - the original remains intact.)

  • How do I get my office jet 5742 to email scanned documents?

How can I email scanned documents?

    Hi,
    Please try:
You need to enter a valid email address, and the printer will send a 4 digit validation code to that email address. When you enter the code into the panel, it will register the email and you will be able to scan documents to send to any or all of the addresses that are defined to the printer as valid. The scanned item can be a document or a photo. The documents are sent as PDF's. The scan is routed to HP's e-print center, then routed to the address you specified. I'm not sure about the privacy issues involved in this, but the capability to do this exists, and seems to work well, but you need to wait a few minutes for the document to appear in your email.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8600 won't save scanned document in searchable PDF or .rtf format

HP Officejet Pro  8600 won't save scanned document in searchable PDF or .rtf format
The scanner scans the document without a problem but when I select 'SAVE' and
specify a location and file name, a system error 'The HP scan application was
unable to save the file to the specified location'.  It will save a regular PDF file
or a  JPG file with no problem, but trying to save an searchable PDF or .rtf file
results in the above mentioned system error.
This problem occurs either from HP SCAN or from the 8600 scan panel.
The computer is running Windows XP and the I.R.I.S. OCR software is
    loaded.

    Hello TrailsEnd,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand you're receiving an error message "The HP scan application was unable to save the file to the specified location". I will do my best to assist you!
First, I would recommend downloading this tool called the Print and Scan Doctor. This tool diagnoses and helps resolve common printing, scanning, and connectivity problems, including: (This information is stated here.)
USB: Verifies that the USB connection from your computer to the HP product is working correctly.
Network: Verifies that the network connection between your computer and your network is working correctly.
Device Status Test : Checks for device errors such as out of paper, paper jams, carriage stalls, and paper feed issues, and then provides instructions for fixing the error.
Driver Check : Checks for missing or corrupt driver files.
Device Manager : Checks for problems in Device Manager that would prevent printing.
Device Online : Checks if the product has been paused or set to offline, and then sets the status back to online if necessary.
Print Queue : Checks for and clears pending print jobs in the print queue (a log of print jobs waiting to print).
Port Match : Checks the port settings for the HP product.
Device Conflicts : Checks for conflicts with other drivers, such as other printer brands.
Ink Issues : Checks the cartridges and ink levels for issues that affect print quality.
Print Settings : Checks and adjusts the print quality settings.
Test Print : Prints a test page for print quality evaluation, and provides options for cleaning and aligning the printhead if necessary.
Scan Tests : Checks the scan mechanism, drivers, and registry entries.
Let me know if this tool fixes a scanning problem on this post. If this doesn't resolve your issue, then I am going to recommend uninstalling the software. Please follow this HP document on Uninstalling the Printer Software.
Once this is complete, you can perform a clean boot on your computer. I will provide a Microsoft document here to help you. This helps eliminate software conflicts that occur when you install a program or an update or when you run a program. Now, you can install the full feature software from the HP website here.
Please post your results, as I will be looking forward to hearing from you. Have a great day!

  • Scanned documents saving as .BMP instead of .PDF

I've had my laptop and all-in-one since June.  I've been scanning my little heart out and saving them as PDF's with no problem.  Until a few days ago when I was tempted to re-enact the printer smashing scene from Office Space.  Now when I scan sometimes it will save as a PDF but most of the time it will save as .bmp.  When scanning documents I select save as PDF but once the document is scanned and I go through the steps to save,  all pages are saved separately as .bmp instead of .pdf.  I haven't changed any settings that I am aware of and I'm not doing anything differently.

Hello there! Welcome to the forums @mistinlaci
I read your post about the scanning issues you're having and I wanted to make my suggestions to you.
    Here they are:
Check for Windows Updates and complete them all:
    Install Windows updates
    Update Adobe:
    Open Reader or Acrobat.
Choose Help - Check For Updates. If a new update is available, it installs automatically.
    Once installed, restart you computer.
Try to print the PDF again.
Run the Print and Scan Doctor. This diagnostic tool will check for any conflicts that could be causing the issue. The tool will show you a report at the end. If there was a problem that the tool could not fix, you will notice it in the results.
Please let me know if the troubleshooting steps helped!

  • Start Process From Scanned Document In Watch Folder or Email

Looking for a way for a office person to scan a document into a watch folder or email a scanned document to LCES2.
Then from that scanned document a process is started and the user in workspace has a routing slip (pdf) and the scanned document in view.
I can see how to start the process with a email or watch folder but how do I get the scanned document in as a attachment to the process routing slip?
Somewhat new to LC and not seeing any demo's on this. Any help would be great.
    Thanks,

    Hi Jasmin,
I'm facing a problem with the watched folder files, they appear under the Attachment tab for the user, but with broken links, i.e. "The requested resource () is not available" error.
what I did is simply create a new process with watched folder  start point, define a list-document variable as I/O and assign this variable to the user service?
    can you help

  • What should the settings in Preview be if scanning documents and the faxing them

I'm trying to scan documents using preview and my printer. Once I scan the documents, I save them in dropbox and later fax them using SFax. However, the faxes are coming out blurry and very difficult to read. What should the Preview settings be on? PDF? File Format? How many dots per inch? What are standard settings?

I am a recently retired webmaster and fortunately have fewer eye problems than most people my age. I have astigmatism and, in common with most people over 40, have reduced accommodation. Perhaps because I have spent considerable time in front of computer screens my eyes focus most easily at screen distance. I use low power long distance glasses to watch television and drive after dark. I use low power reading glasses for small print such as maps and repairing small items. Most of the time I don't need glasses.
There is no such thing as standard settings for font size or style. It is entirely a matter of personal preference.
    Here are my settings:
34cm x 27cm Apple Studio Display set to millions of colours and a resolution of 1280 x 1024
Safari 'standard' font set to Geneva 14
Safari fixed width font set to Courier 14
Default encoding set to Western (ISO Latin 1)
Minimum font size set to 10
Geneva is a very old Apple font optimised for screen use. I still find it more readable than other fonts under a wide range of conditions.
I assume you know about Zoom settings to override the above:
    cmd + to increase size
    cmd - to decrease size
cmd 0 to return to 'normal' size
I set 'Zoom Text Only' on the view menu.
You can also create your own style sheet to obtain even more control. Here is a Google search link about these:
    https://encrypted.google.com/search?q=browser+%27style+sheet%27+%27visually+impa ired%27&as_qdr=all&newwindow=1&num=100
I have written many style sheets but not for visually impaired. I am happy to assist if required.

  • How can I make Acrobat stop shrinking scanned documents??

    Very fr
ustrated in the fact that every time I scan a document for various purposes, the end result has been shrunk
so that only certain areas of the document are seen in the .pdf file.  It seems to happen
especially with documents with alot of lines.  My goal is to scan a document, and have it look exactly like the document with no shrinkage.  Please help!

I have the same issue with my Xerox Documate 152.  I'm trying to create a fillable form from a scanned document, but I need the user to print only the fields onto an original form.
When I scan the document -- and I've tried it as a .pdf and as a .tiff -- it is significantly different from the original.  When you hold the two up together in light, you can see how the scanned one is completely misaligned.  Looks like nearly a half inch vertically and maybe about 1/16th of an inch horizontally.  That means that when I create the form from the scanned document, the fields do not print onto the original form in the right places.
This isn't an Acrobat issue given that the same problem occurs with a .tiff file, but does anyone have a solution?  The scanned document simply doesn't match the original.  I can't find an answer elsewhere online.
    Thanks!
