Schedule runbooks to run Mon-Fri

I'd like to execute some runbooks for Mon-Fri only.  The existing runbook scheduling doesn't seem to offer the option to set just Mon - Fri.  From what I can tell I have two options:
1) Run the runbook daily and have logic inside the runbook to check the day of week and then decide whether to run or not
2) Create 5 schedules for a single run book and set it to repeat every 7 days.
Is there a better way to do this?  For option 1) I have to build this logic into each runbook.   With option 2 it becomes a potential management/mainteance headache
Does anyone know if there are plans to make the scheduling more flexible where you can select specific days of the week?  This seems like an odd omission.....
Thanks

Hi,
Currently we recommend option 1 above. Instead of building this logic into each runbook, you can create a single runbook to do this logic, and invoke this runbook inline from within each of the runbooks that require this functionality. You may not even need
to build this runbook yourself -- in the
runbook gallery we have the
Get-IsWorkHours runbook which could probably be used / slightly modified to meet your needs.
Longer term, the plan it to integrate Azure Automation and Azure Scheduler more closely, so Azure Scheduler is used to start Azure Automation runbooks. You can actually start Azure Automation runbooks from Scheduler today using
this solution.

  • How to schedule runbooks weekly?

Hi, for runbooks I can configure a schedule of type "one time", "hourly" or "daily". At least that what I see from the runbooks "Schedule" register. Is there any way to have a weekly schedule? Or any other time period
    like monthly?
    Thanks in advance.

I have been looking for a way to execute our stop/startup scripts Monday to Friday only and not run on Weekends.  It seems you cannot set the runbooks to run on a flexible schedule like (Mon-Fri).  Based on your example I would have to
create 5 schedules for each runbook and set it to run on a specific day and then repeat 7 days later. This seems a little inefficient. Does anyone know if there are plans to make the scheduling more flexible?
Another way to do this is to have the runbook check for weekday/workday ie ignore weekends.  There seems to be a runbook in the gallery that does this.  I have this type of checking in my runbooks.

  • Scheduling in MRP Run MD02

    dear all,
i still confuse for using scheduling in MRP run MD02,
what is the use of using both scheduling type "1" and type "2"?
because if i run the MRP using scheduling type 2,  after i generate the planned order, then i can see the capacity planning evaluation,
but not if i run scheduling type 1
if i run the scheduling type 1, how can i analyze the capacity planning?
until now, i always run the scheduling type 2, because i think it is more useful to run scheduling type 2,
so what is the plus and the minus using scheduling type 1 or type 2?
    best regards,
    MARUFAT

    Hi,
    In simple words:
The main difference between scheduling type 1 (Basic date scheduling) & Scheduling type 2 (Lead time scheduling & Capacity requirements) is from which records MRP reads the values.
Basic dates is more like a rough scheduling where the values are read from the material master & the exact operation times are not considered or capacity requirements generated.
Lead time scheduling is more precise meaning for each in-house produced material it reads the routing & checks the time maintained for each operation, it then calculates the exact times for each operation based on the working days, shift timings, breaks & also generates capacity requirements.
Now what is the criteria to select... it depends on the business requirement. But the data maintenance for Scheduling type 2 is higher as compared to Scheduling type 1.
What is the benefit for going for Scheduling type 2.... well it gives you a clear picture on your production planning process & how much capacity is required, whether you have the requisite capacity etc etc.
Basic date scheduling is preferred when you do not want such fine control on your production planning process.
For more info refer to SAP help, it should make it more clear.

    Hi all,
I'm trying to create a job that will send a report via broadcaster on every working day (Sun - Thu)
I've created a job with transaction sm36 as described on the help and scheduled it to run on daily basis.
Restricted by colander to run only on working days.
I can see the job on sm37.
My problem is that when I try to schedule a job via the portal,
I don't see my new scheduled option.
    Any ideas?
Do I need to restart the portal? BW?

  • How do i set the scheduler schedule property to run at 6am & 9pm daily?

Do I have to use a PeriodicSchedule ?
Edited by: DivyaR on May 19, 2013 11:10 PM

Use the Calendar schedule. set the schedule property as following in your scheduler
    schedule=calendar * * * * 6,21 0
The value of 6,21 specifies that its going to run once at 6AM and other time at 9PM everyday.

  • Scheduled Tasks wont run

I had recently upgarded to CF8 from CF7.
After the upgrade non of my Scheduled Tasks are running.
Even when i trigger the tasks manually from CFAdmin I get the response "This scheduled task was completed successfully."
But nothing really runs. My application is using Integrated Windows Authentication and the schedulled tasks were running fine with CF7.
Now when i switch off the Windows authentication, the scheduled tasks are working fine.
Could you please tell me why my Scheduled Tasks are not running when i turn on Windows authenticaton, where as it was working perfectly with CF7.

ColdFusion schedule tasks CAN NOT run under windows integrated authentication.  ColdFusion is not a windows product, it does not pass the NTML headers with requests.  You have to turn off windows integrated authentication for any resource you would like to run as a schedule task.  Helpfully, you can set that permssion to individual files and|or folders so you do not need to turn it off for the entire site.
I don't know why this would change after an upgrade, unless you built a new CF8 server with a newly built IIS as well.

  • Scheduled Backups Stopped Running

I have two Hyper-V 2012 Servers on which I have scheduled a number of backup jobs using the SCHTASKS command. The backups have been running fine since I created the tasks on 2/26/2014 until last night. On one of the servers the backup was supposed to run
at 6:00pm last night and on the other one it should have run at 7:00pm. On both of them the backup task was apparently not triggered, when I view the event logs for the task manager there is no entry there at all for those times.
On the server where the backup was supposed to run at 6:00 last night I brought up the task manager and see this for the job.
    Name: WeeklyBackupMonday
    Status: Ready
Triggers: at 6:00 pm every Monday of every week starting 2/26/2014
Next Run Time: 3/17/2014 at 6:00pm
Last Run Time: 3/3/2014 at 6:00pm
Result: The last job finished successfully.
Clearly the job that was supposed to run on the 10th did not run, the same thing is happening on both servers. The other server has a backup job that is supposed to run on Sunday and it also did not run. The history shows that prior to Sunday the jobs were
    running normally.
I find it very strange that both servers started exhibiting the same issue simultaneously and am having a difficult time knowing how to troubleshoot the issue as I can not find anything in the logs regarding why it may have failed. Can any one point me in
the right direction for troubleshooting this issue?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
Please post the SCHTASKS command to help us troubleshoot the issue. In the meantime, please refer to the thread below to see if the issue is related to Task Scheduler Service Quotas:

  • Task Scheduler Won't Run Task With Idle Condition

When I schedule a task to run Disk Cleanup with a one minute idle condition the task does does not run successfully and provides the following run result.
The Task Scheduler service has asked the task to run. (0x41325)
If I manually run the task or remove the idle condition the task runs and completes successfully.
Why won't the task start with an idle condition?

    Hi,
I noticed that you set the idle time shorter than the waiting for idle time. In my opinion, we should set the idle time longer than the waiting for idle time if we schedule a task running during the idle contidion. As the documents described, the Task Scheduler service will verify that the computer is in an idle state every 15 minutes. If a task is set to start only if the computer is idle for 30 minutes, and the task waits for the computer to be idle for 10 minutes, then the task will launch in 5 minutes only if the computer has been idle for 25 minutes prior to the time the trigger was activated. The task will not start if the computer enters an idle state 5 minutes after the trigger is activated. For more information, please refer to Task Idle Conditions.

  • Server 2012 Scheduled tasks not running after DST

Since the DST change this weekend the weekly scheduled tasks on our 2012 standard server are not running.  The schedule show the correct next run time, but the task never runs.  The server correctly adjusted for the DST changes (We are in CST in
the US) and if you look in the date time it notified us that the clock was set forward.
    Any ideas?

    Hi Mark,
Before going further, would you please let me confirm whether only weekly scheduled tasks t run? In other words,
did some daily scheduled tasks run smoothly?
Based on current situation, please create a new weekly
scheduled task and check if encounters the same issue.
If this issue still persists. Please let me confirm if you make scheduled task run some commands or a script,
or others I misunderstand. For an example, if run a script, please directly run it in the Windows Server 2012 Standard and check if there any issue occurred.
Meanwhile, please open Task Scheduler, select this problematic weekly scheduled task, click General tab. Please
check which user account was used to run this task. And please check Run with highest privileges, then check if can solve this issue.
In addition, please check History tab in task Properties. Please pay attention on the time-point when the weekly
scheduled task should be ran, and check if you can find some events at that time-point. It may help us to go further analysis.
By the way, there is a similar thread. Please refer to.

  • Schedule tasks to run on wake up?

Is it possible to schedule tasks to run when a Mac wakes up (preferably Terminal/UNIX)?
I want to run a script when I open my laptop. Is that possible without installing further software?

You could use System Preferences -> Energy Saver -> Schedule  to wake up the Mac (or at least try), then if you can have your tasks run in the background, you might be able to either use a repeating Calendar entry that runs an app, Applescript, or Automator app, or use a launchd.plist (launchd is non-trivial, but effective).
The key is to have tasks that do not need to be actually logged in at the time.  That is to say, they do not need a GUI up and running.
Not sure that Dropbox works without being logged in, but there may be other ways to sync things between Macs without using Dropbox.  Maybe something like bittorrentsync (I've only heard about it, but have not played with it).
As Chris CA suggests, so not shutdown your Macs, but maybe just sleep them with your account already logged in.  Then when the scheduler wakes them you are already logged in.  Then when the tasks you need to run complete, you can let the normal idle system sleep interval put them back to sleep (be sure to set the sleep interval to a long enough period to allow your tasks to complete).

  • Prevent Scheduled Build from Running for Check-Ins Committed by Build Server

    Hi there,
    I am using TFS 2013.
I have a scheduled nightly build that runs only when there have been check-ins.
The problem is that my build process checks-out/in a couple files used for custom versioning. This is done under the machine account of the build server.
Even though no check-ins were committed by developers - the scheduled build sees the check-ins done by the build server and thus, executes another nightly build.
Is there a way I can prevent scheduled builds from running if the only check-ins were from the build machine?
    Cheers,
    Keith

    HI Keith,
I don't think we can achieve this kind of conditional trigger from TFS build definition. We had a similar situation so we disabled the TFS build and started the build using Powershell (windows scheduled task). Below is the powershell script. The scripts
gets the history for the day and checks for the user passed as parameter if even one changeset is not by the user the script will queue a build.
    Param(
    $BuildUser = "Account\ToIgnore",
    $TfsUrl = "http://ABCD:8080/tfs/Collection",
    $TeamProjectName = "TeamProject",
    $BuildDefinitionName = "BuildDefinitionName")
    $today = Get-Date
    $yestday = (Get-Date).AddDays(-1)
    $Daterange = $today.ToString("Dyyyy-MM-dd HH:mm:ssZ") + "~" + $yestday.ToString("Dyyyy-MM-dd HH:mm:ssZ")
    $tfsServer = get-tfsserver $TfsUrl
    $Changeset = Get-TfsItemHistory -Server $tfsServer -HistoryItem "$/TeamProject/XYZ" -Version $daterange -User $BuildUser -Recurse
    $Changeset | Out-File C:\Windows\temp\Output.txt
    $TriggerBuild = $False
    foreach ($user in $Changeset)
    if ($user.Owner -ne $BuildUser)
    $TriggerBuild = $True
    break
    if ($TriggerBuild)
    [void][System.Reflection.Assembly]::LoadWithPartialName("Microsoft.TeamFoundation.Client")
    [void][System.Reflection.Assembly]::LoadWithPartialName("Microsoft.TeamFoundation.Build.Client")
    $tfs = [Microsoft.TeamFoundation.Client.TeamFoundationServerFactory]::GetServer($TfsUrl)
    $buildserver = $tfs.GetService([Microsoft.TeamFoundation.Build.Client.IBuildServer])
    [Microsoft.TeamFoundation.Build.Client.IBuildDefinition] $BuildDefinition = $buildserver.GetBuildDefinition($TeamProjectName,$BuildDefinitionName)
    [Microsoft.TeamFoundation.Build.Client.IBuildRequest] $BuildRequest = $BuildDefinition.CreateBuildRequest();
    $buildserver.QueueBuild($BuildRequest) | Out-File C:\Windows\temp\Output.txt
    Hope this help
