Hi All,
While creating/update scenario scheduling
does I have to update it also in agent on physical?
If so, Isn't a way to update it through the operator?

Let me contribute a little,
Yes its possible by OdiUpdateAgentSchedule utility.
1. Create a package, lets say Update Scheduling.
2. Drag and drop the utility, OdiUpdateAgentSchedule and select your Scheduler agent from the drop down.
3. Generate a scenario out of the package.
4. So whenever you create/update scheduling, run this Update Scheduling scenario from the operator to get the scheduling information get updated in the agent.

P.S: if you wanna make it automated, you can schedule that scenario for a particular time interval to get "auto" update of scheduling information.

Errors when scheduling scenarios for agents using load balancing

Hi,
I have set up my ODI environment and have successfully manged to:
* run scenarios manually in development repository
* schedule scenarios and run on execution repository with one agent.
However when I try to set up a second agent to load balance the scenarios I get the following error below.
It seems to be a load balancing problem because I can run the scenario's successfully in every other case.
I am running an oracle RAC database. (2 servers, one oracle instance on each). I have set up one ODI agent on each server and I am trying to load balance between these 2 agents.
In topology I have set up 1 logical agent. Physical agent 1 is linked to itself and also to Physical Agent 2 under the load balancing tab.
For my scenario's I have 2 master scenarios (which are the ones scheduled) that call a number of other scenarios in the correct order.
Could anyone assist me please?

Hi,
I'm wondering whether there may be a design flaw in the way our scenario's have been created / are executed.
Currently we have x number of scenarios executed by a x master scenario.
There are also y number of scenarios executed by a y master scenario.
These master scenarios are the ones scheduled against the agent and they call the "sub-scenarios".
We experience the above error when one of the "sub-scenarios" of a master scenario is executed on a different agent to where the master scenario is executed.
Any help greatly appreciated.

Scheduling scenarios don't work after upgrading 10.1.3.5 to 11.1.1.6...

Hello~
I upgraded ODI version 10.1.3.5 to 11.1.1.6 without any error.
However although I restart agent, scheduling scenarios don't work on time.
So I regenerated one of scenario using ODI studio menu and then this scenario worked successfully on scheduled time.
After upgrading, do I have to regenrate whole scenarios?
Isn't there any other workaround?

But tell me if I understood this correclty:
Inorder to upgrade from 10.1.3.5 to 11.1.1.6, I have executed the following steps so far:
1) I ran the RCC on my old repositories to check if they are consistent to migrate and it was successful.
2) Copied the E*,M*,W* xml files that RCC created into the oracledi.common\...\sqlserver\patch\ and oracledi.sdk\...\sqlserver\patch folders.
3) Cloned the existing master and work reps of 10g.
4) Installed the ODI 11g, but did not create the master rep and Work rep in 11g hoping that I would upgrade the existing cloned 10g repositories.
Now my understanding after going through some documents online is that UA uses the cloned repository details (master and from there it gets the work rep details) and 10g supervisor details that we provide and connects to cloned master and work reps and upgrades them. I do not know what this jdbc error is? Because I tried and could also create a brand new master repository in the 11g using ODI studio, now if 11g could not connect to DB using the jdbc how could it have created the repository. If 11g connects to DB I am assuming that UA should also be able to connect right?
Please correct me if my assumptions are wrong.

Scheduling scenarios for every half hour in ODI 11g

Hi,
I am using ODI 11g.
My requirement is to execute a scenario after every half hour.
I can just see that scenarios can be scheduled on hourly basis only.
Please guide me how can i schedule scenarios on half hourly basis also.

Hi Divya,
Open your scheduling and go to Execution Cycle tab and Under Repetition select "Many Times", then set "Interval Between Repetitions " as 30 minutes or so.

Scheduled scenarios not working

Hi everyone,
I have created and configured ODI agent as Java EE Application successfully as mentioned below:

The test is successful.
Now I am trying to schedule a scenario using this agent as below :

But seems like the scheduler never runs..and there are no execution logs as well.
When I try to run the same scenario using the same agent, it runs fine.

Yes.. I have already done - Update Schedule on that agent.. The scheduled is updated successfully.
Additionally, I have more then 1 agent up and running...Will that cause any problems?
Do I need to do something in the Load balancing tab of the agent?

Agent Scheduler - Schedule Scenario programatically

Im working with scenario scheduling using a scheduler Agent in Oracle Data Integrator 10g. I know the schedule can be set from the Designer or the operator tools but for some of the defined scenarios i need the user to set the execution schedule using a web application (Java Web application). I can´t let the users connect to the Work Repository to set the schedule for a scenario.
Is there a way to set the schedule for a scenario programatically using the ODI Java API or a Web service? I want to create new schedules for a scenario or change a schedule without of the Operator or Designer tools, and preferably without messing directly with the Master Repository
An alternative could be managing the schedule in the web application using Quartz or Cron and then invoke the scenario with the OdiInvoke public web services, but i prefer to use the scheduler agent.

There a lot of ways. It just depend on how you can customize it. Create a batch file to trigger the scenario.
Now a create small java program to run batch file and make a looping for infinite times and just after the trigger of scenario supply the sleep time for required interval.

Scheduling Scenarios - Multiple instances of scenario

Hi
I am using the scheduler to schedule a scenario that has a large number of cdc packages. The scenario usually takes 7/8 mins to complete.
I have set the schedule to execute the scenario hourly at 30 mins past the hour.
The execution cycle is set to many times (10) with 30 seconds interval between repititions.
However sometimes the scenario can take longer to complete, so the execution cycle will not have completed when the next cyclye begins (i.e. + 1 hour).
The upshot of this is that I end up with 2 or more instances of the same scenario running at the same time. This causes conflicts because C$ and I$ tables are being deleted, populated etc from different instances.
I would ideally like to set up the scenarios so that they will not start while another instance is running.
I've tried doing this with variables, but variables in one instance are not available in other instance (have tried everything here).
I also heard there was a way of running scenarios synchronously, but this only appears to be available if you run using startscen.sh - I would prefer to use scheduler.
I'm aware there is a way of adding session number to C$ and I$ filenames, but surely there is an easier way if ODI is any good at all???
Can anybody help me.

Hi ,
In ODI , there is a tool name "OdiStartScene" which usually use for running the scenario in the package. eg. if you have package A and want to wait for Package A to succeed then running package B , You can use this tool with "Synchronous Mode".
And about the variable that you talking. Did you use variable in "Global" mode?

Order Receive to Production Plan, Scheduling Scenario

Hello ,
We are making process chart which will include total manufacturing unit function. It consist of Sales, Project Management, Engineering, Bill Of Material Preparation, Production Planning, Scheduling and Manufacturing/Production.
What should be very standard total scenario specially from Bill of Material for any particular received PO then Production plan, forecasting, scheduling etc. for the same.
Please share scenario which you have or which used most commonly all over manufacturing industries.

If your scenario is integrated with project system you can refer using planning strategy 21 Engineer To Order.
If you want to have simple make to stock scenario then you can explore 10,11,40 etc for different reasons.
You scenario is customer oriented then you can use planning strategies 20,50 etc
All above planning strategies have their own process steps.
If you can tell us exact scenario in which you are working so that someone could help you with process steps.

Immediate help required with this job scheduling scenario

I have a job that needs to run a procedure hourly but not between 6:00 AM to 8:00 AM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
Can anyone help me with how to schedule this job.

If you use a window the job would only execute if the window opens. If for some reason the window did not open then the job would not execute.
Windows should be used to specify which resource plan should be active for the time interval.
In this case you are better off using FREQ=DAILY; BYHOUR=; and specify the hours.

Scheduled scenario execution failures

Hi,
I am facing some weird situations.
Currently we have scheduled execution of Packages in morning. Now some of the packages (Actually procedures in packages) are failing in scheduled execution but when i re execute same procedure in say 5 minutes are so they execute successfully.
I am using Oracle as source and destination database.
What would be exact problem?
would it be with databases?

I have a kind of similar procedure used for 5 different factories with slight changes in it say PROC_A,PROC_B,PROC_C,PROC_D ,PROC_E..
All of them has some date related functions .
The failing of procedures is not specific to any procedures but failures are same.

But strange thing id that as soon i reexecute the same code in SQL,or PROCEDURE in ODI both executes fine.

Selection of scheduling scenarios

Hi,
While scheduling my project using bottom up approach, the system defaults the method for plan method/ basic and plan method/fsct as "Bottom up (taking dates of higher level WBS into account).
Is there a way i can change this to "strict bottom up" as I need the system to adjust the dates of the WBS during scheduling (including reducing the duration)

is it posible by metadata navegator setup scheduling from a scenario and stop a scenario from a user ?

With Metadata Navigator you can see all metadata, and execute objects like scenario, interfaces,...
but you can't schedule scenario and I think that you can't stop an execution (even if I have a doubt)...
I was using this module last year and I'm not using it anymore so I can't verify.

Background job scheduling problem in APO

Hi fellow SDNers,
i am going through this peculiar problem of background job scheduling:
scenario is like , i have an CSV (excel file) in aplication server which would load data into the infosource, which i have scheduled to run in backhround (in infopackage) ,after event is triggered (option in scheduling tab of infopackage...THE SCHEDULING OPTIONS)
now everything seems to be fine.. but the data is not getting loaded...?? could u lease help me out..how to load data from excel file (in background), after an event gets triggered.

Is it possible to add new delivery schedule with bapi_change_po?

We're able to update PO existing line item and delivery schedule date with BAPI_CHANGE_PO. However we can't find any way to add new delivery date (under delivery schedule tab, in PO) for multiple delivery schedule scenario.
please advise is it to do so with BAPI_CHANGE_PO or we should try other approach to do it. Thanks.

Use the BAPI "BAPI_PO_CHANGE". New delivery schedule information can be filled in the structures POSCHEDULE & POSCHEDULEX.

Calculation of start date with backward scheduling

Dear all,
I am facing an issue related to backward scheduling. I have requirement in which whenever backward scheduling is used, system should calculate from last activity to first for calculation of schedules which is fine. But when running scheduling i am giving finish date as input and system is always using start date as current date and not calculation last date from last. For example if i input finish date as 15 feb 2015, and there is only one activity of 15 days, system should count start date from 1 feb 2015. Please help me how i can achieve this, currently its always putting start date as current date.
My current settings are--
Project definition- WBS Scheduling profile- Backward scheduling
                              scheduling scenario- Free scheduling
Network-      Planning type- basic dates
                    Scheduling type- Backward

Dear all, this issue is resloved. Reason was that by default i am using forward scheduling for all project but in case of backward scheduling, user change schedule type at project definition and network. I was removing start date and putting finish date and running scheduling. Missing step from my side was i need to first copy date from top to down than run scheduling again.
