Schedule with Exchange & Email with GMail?

Oh wise people,
I am considering getting an iPhone. I want to keep my Schedule synced with Exchange (for work) and my email synced with GMail (for personal).
Is this possible? Is the Exchange sync an all or nothing sort of thing?
Thanks in advance,
cweight

Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars
Tap on the Exchange profile you have (or will) set up, then toggle off the service you don't want to sync up. (There is a button for each of: Mail, Contacts, Calendars)

  • Any way to sync with Google Contacts and activesync with Exchange emails?

Here's what I'm trying to do:
    1. Sync my iPhone contacts with Google
    2. Have my private calendar synched with Google
    3. Have my work calendar synched with Exchange
    4. Get push email from my Exchange server
    5. View Google email
I have done 1 & 2 using Google Sync for iPhone, but since this is done via ActiveSync it blocks my ability to add my corporate Exchange server as I am only allowed to have one ActiveSync account on the iPhone.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!

    Hi Adam,
As you probably discovered, the problem is Google Calendar. The iPhone can get email directly from Gmail - without Google Sync - but the Calendar won't work. There are two main options
    1. The simplest option is to view your Google calendar via CalDAV. The iPhone supports CalDAV and can sync with any any CalDAV compatible calendar system. Unfortunately, I believe that it's read-only: using CalDAV, you can't update your Google calendar from the iPhone. However, if read-only is fine, that's the simplest option. Then you'd use Exchange for your work stuff, Mail on the iPhone to talk directly to Gmail, and CalDAV support in the calendar to view your Google calendar.
    2. The more sophisticated option is to use Mail on the iPhone to get Gmail, then use Exchange for everything else. You'd then add SyncMyCal on your Windows PC to sync your Google calendar with your Exchange account. The sync is two-way and works very well. With your Google calendar available in Exchange, the sync from Exchange to the iPhone will now have your Google calendar items too - and you can create new events on your iPhone's calendar that'll end up in Google calendar.

  • Notification Light with Incoming Email and Gmail u...

    Hi,
How do I configure email to blink the notification light when an email is received?
Also, I have 3 email accounts configured: Exchange and 2 Gmail accounts. I changed the Gmail accounts to sync email every 15 minutes. The Exchange account works but not the gmail accounts. Gmail has IMAP already enabled.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Scott

The notification light only has options for new messages (SMS, VoiceMail, etc) and Missed Calls. I cant find the option for email.
For Gmail, mine worked when I used the normal Gmail icon when setting it up, but I didnt like it. I set up and Exchange email for my gmail so that it would sync my calendar as well. (The normal gmail option wont do this). I do remember with Anna that I had to DECLINE the terms of service when setting up the email for it to work. The last tidbit would be to check your retrieval settings. Mine first defaulted to 9am to 9pm Mon-Friday. Hope something helps.

  • High data usage with Exchange email

We have encountered the following problem when using Exchange email.
    Device used: iPhone 5
    Exchange Server 2007 SP3
The exchange mailserver is limiting the size of an email to for example 10 MB
Now the users send an email with multiple high resolution pictures via email exceeding this 10 MB
The email stays in the outbox and retries over and over and over to send the email.
When connected to cellular network the data usage is increasing rapidly and the result is a very large bill.
What can be done to prevent the email from sending over and over again?
The user does not notice any problem as the email stays in the outbox.
    Your thoughts are highly appreciated.
    Remko

Currently on the phone with Apple. I do believe this is a technical issue.
The user sends out an email and it is not very clear to the user that there are problems sending the email.
I have seen instances were users used up to 3GB of cellurlar data usage because they send just on email that was too large.
Will post if I learn anything from Apple.
Did you know that there is some mechanism on the phone for to prevent sending to much content? Try to select like 20-30 pictures and use the arrow icon to assign the pictures to an application. You will notice that there is not much to select from. Now try to reduce the amount of pictures. More option will become available as you reduce the amount of pictures.
Unfortunately, if you attach anything from the mail app there does not seem to be a check on how much data you send.

  • Problem with exchange email policy race condition.

We are having an issue with the email address policy self resolving internal collisions by appending the number "2" to email addresses.
Basically what we do is new employees receive contacts for the GAL automatically. The user can then choose to create a user object or even get an exchange account via online self-provisioning site.
So our process deletes the contact object, then creates a user object. That user object is then mail-enabled.  At that moment the email address policy kicks in and adds a few addresses  ( [user]@[domain] [user]@excahnge.[domain] etc)
here is example code of how we sometimes do this manually for users that don't self-provision.
    #remove contact
    Get-ADObject -filter { cn -eq $user } -Server $script:dc | Remove-ADObject -Confirm:$false -Server $script:dc
    #create new user object
    New-ADUser -Name $user -SamAccountName $user -Enabled $true -ChangePasswordAtLogon $True  -UserPrincipalName $userPrincipalName -DisplayName $User_displayname -Path $ou -GivenName $userFirstName -Surname $userLastName -AccountPassword $Private -Server $script:dc
    #mail enable user object
    Enable-MailUser -identity $user -ExternalEmailAddress $externalAddress -Alias $user -domainController $script:dc
Now the problem seems to be that even thought the contact is deleted the address is still somewhere in the system because when the user is mail enabled their addresses look like this: [user]2@[domain] and [user]2@exchange.[domain]. it sticks 2s on all of
    them
best guess is the policy sees the old address *somewhere* but rather than fail it just appends a 2 to avoid the collision and goes on it's merry way.  All the script lines run against the same DC and all the exchange servers point to one DC.
what is causing this and how do we stop it ?

I've put small sleeps in without help. I don't know how long it might be taking. I don't want to keep adding delays until the app appears to hang. Also this is a more recent phenomena, it used to work fine.
We did have some replication problems in the past but those were alleviated by using the -domaincontroller parameter and making sure all commands run on the same server.
the weird thing is if it is replication I don't know to what. The object is indeed gone or I would get an "already exists" error when I create the user object. the server does not see any object but the address policy still sees the addresses somewhere.

  • Problem with Exchange email in Yosemite

My Exchange email account has two addresses associated with it. On the iPhone (6, iOS 8.1), it sees both of them, but with my upgrade to Yosemite, it sees only the emails with the address listed in Accounts. Incoming emails to the other address appear on the iPhone, but not on my MacBook Pro (Retina, mid 2012). There is no way to give another address in Accounts, and you cannot add an additional Exchange account with the same username. Does anybody have a solution?

Terribly sorry for the long delay in replying (Work, Life, etc. BUSY).
The send as option is set to "Account of selected mailbox". I set it to the flast@ account specifically yet the behavior does not change.
Still not working as it should in Yosemite either.

  • Issue with Exchange email on Bold 9930

I had my email all set, multiple gmail accounts, a yahoo account, and an Exchange account.  I had some issues and needed to wipe my device.  When I restarted everything, I was able to add back my accounts, but not the Exchange email.  It was SO EASY THE FIRST TIME, I just put in my email address and it firgured everything out for me.  Now, I've tried every method to set it up. From the phone, from the internet.
I've tried to sign into BIS, but it won't let me.  If I try to make an BIS account, it says you must do it from your phone.  If I do it from the phone, it says you can't use a computer browser to set it up.  If I say that I have an account, the password reminder email has my password as BLANK.  SO, I started a Blackberry Management Account and added myself as a member in an attempt to add the email!  Still doesn't work.
Exchange guys gave me the info I already had that worked prior.  They say nothing has changed and they don't force locks or what not onto my phone (it's a personal phone)
Any ideas?  There must be something stuck somewhere on my phone.  A setting that I can't see or delete!?

        Hi dkinem!
Oh my! I know how important it is to receive your work emails on your device. Thanks for all the great troubleshooting that you have completed thus far. Let's get this resolved. What version/year of Microsoft Exchange are you using?
What specific error message are your receiving? I'm here to help. ^PF

  • Problem with exchange email

Hi, I just purchased an iPhone 3G. I setup my exchange email at the office. When I am connected to the Wi-Fi network at the office the email, calendar, and contacts will sync perfectly. Once I disconnect from the Wi-Fi, the email will sync just fine until I connect to another Wi-Fi network, or until the phone locks up (which happened yesterday after having the phone 3 days, extremely disappointing). Any advice?

  • Can we connect Outlook with Exchange 2013 with the default Self-signed certificate?

    Hi,
the question is very simple, but after several days searching in this forums and in the web I have not been able to find a definitive answer YES or NOT. I know that Self-signed certificates are not for a production enviroment and only for labs and we must
purchase a third party certificate or get one from a internal CA.
Anyone can answer this question with no doubt?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Abhi,
I wrote this question because in a recent migration to 2013 from 2007 we've found with this problem: you can view it in the post http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/exchange/en-US/1ddd1e81-1061-4461-95dd-13de653ef8fe/outlook-cant-connect-with-exchange-2013-after-migration-from-exchange-2007?forum=exchangesvrdeploy.
Also I have installed a new exchange 2013 in a lab enviroment and I also have unabled to connect from a Outlook 2013. The problem is the same Outlook is unable to detect the exchange server. Many people in this forums told me that have to be a certificate
problem and for that I posted this question. Honestly, I don't know how to do for Outlook can be connect with Exchange 2013. I don't know what I'm doing wrong.
    Anyway thanks for your answer.

  • Trouble with sending emails with Road Runner

I have had little luck with sending email from my iPad with Wifi through my Road Runner Account (Central Florida). Apple Support got it to work with the AT&T 3G set as a secondary Outbound server, but I am still looking for a way to send emails with RR with WiFi. The problem may be that there is no way to turn off the authenication feature in the iPad mail setup, and RR here does not require or permit authentication for its outbound mail servers. Has anyone had this problem and found a solution? Why is there not a selection available in the setup for "no authentication" since I can see that there are accounts which do not support it?

If you had the AT&T network set up and on, and the RR still did not work, there must be another problem with sending emails through RR than I have guessed. I have thought the problem was the incompatible Authentication setting, but if you had the AT&T on as an alternative, that should have resolved the Authentication issue. In any event, I have discussed with Bright House (RR), and they do not seem to acknowledge any compatibility issues with the iPad. Hopefully, it can be resolved.

  • Help with retrieving emails from Gmail into Mail

Help! I'm helping my mom with her computer and her hard drive died (not backed up of course). She has a new hard drive now and I am importing her emails from her Gmail account into Mail. It worked great importing all the emails that she has since July 15th (the last time she retrieved mail from her Gmail account). If I go into Gmail through Safari I can she has hundreds more emails prior to this date still on their servers but they didn't download into Mail. I presume this is because Gmail knows they have been downloaded once before (to her old dead hard drive), but how do I get around this so all of her emails can be imported into Mail? The only copies are on the Gmail servers.
Thanks in advance for your help,
    Scott

    Okay, then let's try this:
    1. Quit Mail.
    2. Go to Home/Library/Mail and remove (don't copy and don't empty the Trash) the POP mailbox.
    3. Go to Home/Library/Preferences and remove the com.apple.mail.plist file.
    4. Restart Mail, setup your POP account again and it should connect to Gmail and download all the messages. If it does, then you can delete the file and folder you previously removed.

Today August 10, 2012, i tried to install the application again, and the problem persists.

    Hi Panchotomass,
Welcome to the Nokia forum and thanks for your post.
Your Nokia Messaging account can be deleted by your Care line. Simply call and ask them to remove the account off the database. Once the NM account has been deleted, make sure the email account is deleted from the phone as well, reboot the device and reconfigure the email account. This will set up a new Nokia Messaging account for you.
