  • Schema and user management.

    Hi,
    I am planning to create multiple users for a particular schema.
    Ex: I have a schema emp_db. will it be possible to create multiple users who access the same schema. I am planning to do an audit on the schema to know which user has done the modification.

    will it be possible to create multiple users who access the same schema. Yes, a schema objects can be accessed by several other users in the database. You need to grant privileges to the other users to have access to the objects from emp_db schema.

  • Difference between target schema and target user

    hi,
    Can anyone explain to me what is the difference between target schema and target user? examples will be more welcome then theoratical explanation.
    thanks so much

    In Oracle database schema and user is the same things (if you use general authentication by database).
    When used external authentication (for example with Windows domains/active directory) schema is a owner of database objects group and you should specify mapping between external usernames and schema to which this user has access when connects to database.
    For example:
    - windows domain user CORPDOMAIN\USER1 can connect to oracle database schema SCOTT;
    - windows domain user CORPDOMAIN\USER2 can connect to oracle database schema SCOTT;
    - windows domain user CORPDOMAIN\ADMIN can connect to oracle database schema SYSTEM;

  • New User Database schema and table name

    When i create a new user in Oracle Webcenter Spaces 11g, I am not able to get the name of the database schema and table, where it is stored. Any insight on this will be very helpful.

    WebCenter (and WebCenter spaces) uses an 'identity store' instead of database schema for storing user information - in an 'out of the box' installation, users are maintained through an embedded WebLogic LDAP store.
    See the Oracle Fusion Middleware Administrator's Guide for Oracle WebCenter, p. 34-2.
    At the end of section 34.4.1:
    WebCenter Spaces supports self-registration. When new WebCenter users
    self-register, they create their own login and password and a new user account is
    created in the identity store. See also, Section 34.4, "Allowing Self-Registration".

  • Defining an Authentication Scheme for user ID and password and client certi

    Hi,
                    I do need to define an Authentication Scheme for user ID/Password and client certificate,, both at the same time, so whenever the end user access the SAP Portal he/she will be asked to provide user and password as well digital certificate,
                    Despite of the whole idea behind o f the concept of digital certificate, my client sill wants to keep the user ID and password to complies with business requirements.
         I found a documentation that discuss Authentication Scheme with example using both ID and Digital certificate, but the priority was set different for each authentication method.
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/d3/1dd4516c518645a59e5cff2628a5c1/content.htm
         So I am wondering with I can accomplish User ID/Pwd plus digital certificate just by making the priority the same value. Anyone had a similar requirement?

  • Difference Between Database Schema and Database User Account ??

    Later the exact "Difference Between Database Schema and Database User Account".

    Please try to explain in a simple manner........
    Thank you very Much in Advance..........

    Greate example. but i would like add one more point..
    a user is a schema and schema is a user. but when this applies to the user that he become a schema, only if he has got some objects. so we can say while creating the user which dosent contain any objects called simple user account but afterwords when he has got an objects then we can say its a schema as the above user has shown you through the exampleIt is just word-play. There is nothing in like a 'status' indicator to say "USER_A is just a user but USER_B has become a schema". Many people use the terms "user" and "schema" interchangeably, and some very good DBAs will insist this is correct. I don't disagree with them even though I usually try to make the distinction.
    In a typical application, all of the objects (tables, procedures, etc) that implement the app will be owned by a "application schema owner" - a user which exists for the sole purpose of owning the schema. Said user will have no privileges at all .. especially not CREATE SESSION. Except for possible maintenance activity no one ever actually connects as this user. User accounts are then given to actual humans who connect with their own accounts. The accounts have the necessary system and object privileges granted to them - via a role. One could also create a special account (let's call it APP_ADMIN) that is used for maintenance and batch operations within the application.

  • Can i recover my all active directory domain computers and users from IFM and in-cooperate them in new forest ??

    My only Active Directory Server on win server 2008 R2 with one domain controller crashed today. The only backup that i had was IFM media.
    So what i have done till now to recover it is a follow
    I reintalled window server but this time it is winserver 2012. I added AD DS role to it. Promoted it to Domain Controller. (functionality level is 2008 R2)
    On second server i installed win 2008 R2 and trying to add additional domain controller from IFM to recover all of my domain users,computers and GPO's. but i am getting this error
    Could not replicate the directory partition CN=schema, CN= configuration, DC=XXX, DC=com from the remote domain
    the naming context specified for this replication operation is invalid
    i dont know weather my approach is correct or not
    but my simple questions is
    Can i recover my all domain computers and users from IFM and in-cooperate them in new forest ?? if yes how can i do that?? urgent help required.

    yup exactly i created a new domain(in new forest) with same previous name in window server 2012 on SERVER-1. As ifm file that i had was generated from 2008 r2 so on second server i installed window 2008 r2 and tried to add role of additional domain controller
    from ifm file on SERVER-2 using dcpromo /adv . every step went ok but in last step when it starts replicating domain controllers it poup following error
    Could not replicate the directory partition CN=schema, CN= configuration, DC=XYZ, DC=com. .  .
    and roll backs every thing.

  • Best Practice in maintaining multiple apps and user logins

    Hi,
    My company is just starting to use APEX, and none of us (the developers) have worked on this before either. It is greatly appreciated if we can get some help here.
    We have developed quite a few applications in the same workspace. Now, we are going to setup UAT and PRD environments and also trying to understand what the best practice is to maintain multiple apps and user logins.
    Many of you have already worked on APEX environment for sometime, can you please provide some input?
    Should we create multiple apps(projects) for one department or should we create one app for one department?
    Currently we have created multiple apps for one department, but, we are not sure if a user can login once and be able to access to all the authenticated apps.
    Thank you,
    LC

    LC,
    I am not sure how much of this applies to your situation - but I will share what I have done.
    I built a single 700+ page application for my department - other areas create separate smaller applications.
    The approach I chose is flexible enough to accomdate both.
    I built a separate access control application(Control) in its own schema.
    We use database authenication fo this app - an oracle account is required.
    We prefer to use LDAP for authentication for the user applications.
    For users that LDAP is not option - an encrypted password is stored - reset via email.
    We use position based security - priviliges are based on job functions.
    We have applications, appilcations have roles , roles have access to components(tabs,buttons,unmasked card numbers,etc.)
    We have positions that are granted application roles - they inherit access to the role components.
    Users have a name, a login, a position, and a site.
    We have users on both the East Coast and the West Coast, we use the site in a sys_context
    and views to emulate VPD. We also use the role components,sys_contexts and views to mask/unmask
    card numbers without rewriting the dependent objects(querys,reports,views,etc.)
    The position based security has worked well, when someone moves,
    we change the position they are assigned to and they immediately have the privileges they need.
    If you are interested I can rpovide more detail.

  • Authorization scheme for users stored in a database table?

    Hello!
    I'm trying to find out how to make an authorization scheme for database users.
    I first made an authentication scheme for my current application, I named it "Authentication for database accounts", and the scheme type is "Database Accounts".
    A word of explanation:_
    I have a table in my database, named "USERS". Inside this table, I have the following columns:
    - USERID (NUMBER)
    - USERNAME (VARCHAR2(50))
    - PASSWORD (VARCHAR2(50))
    - EMAIL (VARCHAR2(200))
    For this question, I'll take an example user. The username is USER and the password is USER. Email and UserID don't matter here, but let's just say the UserID is 1.
    What I want:_
    When you go to the application, and you are requested to log in (page 101), then I want a user to be able to log in with the data that has been stored in the USERS table.
    So, on the login page, the user will enter USER as username, and USER as password. The authorization scheme then needs to check whether or not this username and password match the data in the USERS table. If it does, then it must sign the user in with the credentials the user entered (those being USER and USER).
    I also want the UserID to be stored somewhere in the application (if possible, in an application item).
    How do I do this? I've never made an authorization scheme before... I'm not too good with PL/SQL either, but I'm working on that part.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    I'm trying to find out how to make an authorization scheme for database users. I think there may be some confusion here. An authorization scheme gives the user access to different parts of an Apex Application. Database users are the users that you use to login to the database, for example with sqlplus.
    From the rest of your post it sounds like you need a custom authentication scheme to validate users against a custom table. For this you need to create a custom authentication scheme and select use my custom function to authenticate. Exactly how you set up the authentication scheme depends on the version of Apex you are using. But an example of validate user function you could use is given below:
    function validate_login (
       p_username   in   varchar2
    , p_password   in   varchar2) return boolean
    is
    v_result varchar2(1);
    begin
    select null into v_result
    from USERS
    where userid = p_username
    and password = p_password;
    return true;
    when no_data_found then return false;
    end validate_login;Once the user has successfully logged on the userid will be in the APP_USER apex substitution string.
    And for Application Express Account Credentials, does this mean an admin must make each new user by hand?If you using Apex account credentials the user details are stored within the Apex tables. You can create users using the Apex admin application or by using the APEX_UTIL.create_user api.

  • Schemas and workspaces in Apex 3.0

    Hi Friends
    We are quite new to HTML DB. We have few queries pertaining to schemas and workspaces.
    We are developing an application in workspaces X which is associated with database user/schema X. We need to give this application for testing to the users. For that we need to have different set of environment so that it does not hamper our development.
    So what should be our plan of action.?
    Currently we have created a different database user/schema in the same database and associated a different workspace Y to it. But we are facing import/export issues across the workspaces. We have already raised this issue in the forum.
    Can we have same workspace associated with 2 different database schemas/users? If yes, then how does HTML DB handle the same?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards
    Minakshi

    Hi Friends,
    As per Scott's suggestion, we attached our workspace X to 2 schemas A and B. Then we exported the app say 555(here the schema is A) and imported it using the parsing schema B in new application id say 500. But now the real problem starts. If we have added some new functionality in a page in our application 555 and now only that page we want to export and import it in application 500, then it gives error as "This page was exported from a different application or from an application in different workspace. Page cannot be installed in this application." So in the sql file that we exported, we changed few things as follows(marked in bold)
    --application/set_environment
    prompt APPLICATION 500 - Load_Factor_System
    -- Application Export:
    -- Application: 500
    -- Name: Load_Factor_System
    -- Date and Time: 12:01 Monday May 21, 2007
    -- Exported By: ADMIN
    -- Flashback: 0
    -- Export Type: Page Export
    -- Version: 3.0.0.00.20
    -- SET APPLICATION ID
    wwv_flow.g_flow_id := 500;
    wwv_flow_api.g_id_offset := 0;
    After we changed the export file as above and then tried to import it in application 500 it gives error as "ORA-20001: GET_BLOCK Error. ORA-20001: Execution of the statement was unsuccessful. ORA-00001: unique constraint (FLOWS_030000.WWV_FLOW_PAGE_PLUGS_PK) violated <pre>declare s varchar2(32767) := null; l_clob clob; l_length number := 1; begin s := null; wwv_flow_api.create_page_plug ( p_id=&gt; 6303905775095939 + wwv_flow_api.g_id_offset, p_flow_id=&gt; wwv_flow.g_flow_id, p_page_id=&gt; 1020, p_plug_name=&gt; 'User Master', p_region_name=&gt;'', p_plug_template="
    Can anybody please help us with this issue? The other solution for this is to delete the complete application 500 and then freshly install the application. But we do not want this since any change in few pages should not result in deletion of complete application.
    Also Scott, thanks a lot for your detailed solution as to how to put an example on apex.oracle.com. We shall definitely put an example and post it.

  • Context,Physical schema and Logical schema

    Hi,
    How the context,physical schema,logical schema and agent are interrelated.
    Please explain
    Thanks
    Jack

    Hi Jack,
    Context:
    A context is a set of resources allowing the operation or simulation of one or more data processing applications. Contexts allow the same jobs (Reverse, Data Quality Control, Package, etc) to be executed on different databases and/or schemas.
    Its used to run the object(process) in different database.
    Physical Schema:
    The physical schema is a decomposition of the data server, allowing the Datastores (tables, files, etc) to be classified. Objects stored in data servers with this mode of classification can be accessed by specifying the name of the schema attached to the object name.
    Ex
    Oracle classifies its tables by "schema" (or User). Each table is linked to a schema, thus SCOTT.EMP represents the table EMP in the schema SCOTT.
    Logical schema:
    A logical schema is an alias that allows a unique name to be given to all the physical schemas containing the same datastore structures.
    ->The aim of the logical schema is to ensure the portability of the procedures and models on the different physical schemas. In this way, all developments in ODI Designer are carried out exclusively on logical schemas.

  • FI-TV Scheme and Field control in Travel Manager

    Hello!
    Question:
    The question is - Is it possible to somehow customize field control for TRIP selective screen by means of SPRO IMG Scheme and field control or transaction FITVFELD (i.e. hide some fields or add new fields)? Or fields can be added or deleted only by ABAP modifications and User-exits?
    Prerequisite: I need to add an additional CHAR or TEXT field "Document number" in TRIP transaction which will allow a manager to manually enter a document number of a trip. Further this field has to be added in reports as well, so that manager could get all the trip details due to this new field "Document number".
    What am I doing wrong?
    Looking forward for your reply!
    Regards,
    Eldar

    Hi..
    how do you define trip provision variant at first?
    did copy standard variant?!
    if you copy from standard variant - such as 01, or 99, then you will find schema under your copy trip variant.
    hope it helps.

  • Unable to export Groups and users list

    Hi,
    We have just upgrade BO from XIR2 to V3.0. We need to create an Excel file wich shows links between all users and all groups. Is it possible to query the repository ? Does it exist a functionality in the CMC interface to copy quickly all the links between all users and all groups into an Excel file ? We have to many links (1000 users and 40 groups) to do it manualy.

    you can have this from the audit schema if you have your audit services is enabled for some specific servers.
    then you can use query builder to query the audit schema about users, groups , reports and all the objects related to the business objects system.
    dorp me some mail i will guide you to some good third party software which do all those things for you with easy and fast way,
    good luck

  • Oracle APPS schema copy with all privileges to new schema and table space

    Hi all,
    Here is scenario:
    I have installed e-business suite in windows 2003 server for training environment using production (prod), single node and without vision (demo).
    i have to create a new table space in e:\oracle\prodmanz with similar content as in proddata and create a new schema called manz with same privileges as APPS.
    Kindly advice.

    email: [email protected] cc to [email protected]
    Thanks in advance guys.

    Hi Khalid,
    Ideally when you execute sql 'create schema <schema_name>' then the logged in user is going to default owner of the schema and you should see that under 'object privileges' of that user.
    The user will have 'create any' privileges which means the user has all the privileges on that schema.
    if you want to check who is owner of the schema in the system, please check 'SCHEMAS' under views in SYS.
