SCORM completion w/o a quiz

I have a number of presentations which we need to export for
SCORM to run in SABA. However, the presentations don't actually
have a quiz. I want them to be marked as complete in the LMS when
the user finishes the last slide of the presentation. Is this
possible? If so, how?
Cheers

Best way to troubleshoot this is to identify exactly what
changes were
made, revert back to versions that did work properly, and
slowly
implement those same changes - 1 by 1 - until you hit upon
the problem
again.
I've seen inconsistencies as you describe, but always in the
case where
there are several quiz questions that are being fully tracked
(question,
answer, selected response). Captivate waits something like 4
seconds
between posts to the LMS with the most recent activity. If
there is a
lot of data, that can take a while...so the user may quit the
lesson
before the update is made....resulting in lost bookmarks
and/or improper
completion status.
Not sure why that would happen with a non-quiz lesson.
Perhaps minimize
the tracking options in the Quiz Preferences?
Also start as 'fresh' as you can in the LMS. Ensure the
previous lesson
is reset or removed before uploading the new version, or
change the
name/manifest to ensure the SCO is uploaded as a new lesson.

  • SCORM "Complete" and Quiz Settings

    Any ideas?
One question in course. I edit question so it has zero
points. I change quiz mgr. settings to report pass/fail. User
answers question and course is marked "complete." I don't want it
to be marked complete. Captivate is passing a "c" somehow. I do not
    grok.

That SetValue call sounds like Captivate is reporting a
score... are you certain there's only the one scored interaction?
In general, it may help to know that Captivate sends the
score after every reported interaction, and will send the course
complete/incomplete/pass/fail value after the last reported
    interaction.
If you don't want Captivate to send a score every time, you
need to hack the Javascript code. There's several ways to do this,
so I'd recommend a search of the Captivate forum if this is what
    you're trying to do.
If you want Captivate to send the complete/pass value at a
different point in the course (for example, at the end), you need
to add another scored interaction at the very end and just give it
    a value of zero.

  • Forcing SCORM completion

    Hi there,
I'm just having a bit of problem with Captivate. Basically what we need to do is to send a 'completed' state to the LMS when a student visits a particular page.
This is what I have done so far:
    Slide On Enter: Execute Javascript
    var CaptivateObj = document.Captivate;
    SCORM_objAPI.LMSSetValue('cmi.core.lesson_status', 'passed');
    SCORM_objAPI.LMSCommit('');
    SCORM_objAPI.LMSFinish('');
    CaptivateObj.cpEISetValue('rdcmndExit',1);
..obviously it doesnt work at all.
Is it possible to meet this requirement in Captivate? Or are we restricted to use the 'number of slides viewed' or 'quiz score' as completion criteria?
    Thank you!
    Regards,
    RT

If the page is always the same you could change you completion settings to slides viewed.
    if not, try setting:
    SCORM_objAPI.LMSSetValue("cmi.core.lesson_status", "completed");
I would also use double quotes instead of single.

  • No completion tracking w/o quiz question in v.7?

Just noticed today that several courses we had created in 6, but updated in 7, no longer seem to count completers as "complete" in our LMS.  These courses do not contain graded quizzes.  In 6 we had set a % of slide views to indicate completion.  I just read the fine print in 7 and it indicates that, unlike in 6, the score for any content without graded quizzes is zero.  Am I reading this correctly, Adobe?  And if so, why on Earth would you do this?  Moreover, one would have to dig rather far down into the fine print ( as I just did) before experiencing the upgrader's remorse I am on the verge of experiencing.
    Anybody?

Aaron, I use a Fantom XR SPDIF output to record. The
thing you must remember is the XR's SPDIF will have
to be the Master Clock reference for Logic otherwise
you will get clicks and pops!
Check the settings in the Audio/MIDI setup under OSX.
You will need to set the Mbox2 as the master clock as
this is receiving the SPDIF input. Hopefully the Mbox
will detect SPDIF and accept that as Master.
Restart Logic and ensure you have sample rate set to
44.1Khz as that is what the frequency of SPDIF is.
I'm aware that this may sound complicated but at the
end of the day if you record from a SPDIF source, it
has to be the master clock for Logic.
    Good luck, Rik.
Rik, I was wonder how this would work. When I tried to use
SPDIF with my Mbox1, I could never get Logic to see the
input. I am not sure it was supported. But I can use my
Saffire's SPDIF but I have never set it up as master. When
you mentioned it had to be the master clock, I went into Logic
to see if it showed up as a choice. For syncing Logic only has
    choices for
    internal
    midi clock
    MTC
    Manual
which one should I use to make the interface the master?
Logic only mentions listening for MMC.
    Thanks

  • SABA LMS Completion Status is always "Successful" -- even if quiz skipped

For a course I'm creating, the SABA LMS Completion Status is always “Successful” even if just 1 slide of the Scorm 1.2 compliant Adobe Presenter course is viewed – doesn’t even need to get into quiz.
A failing grade is also always "Successful". How to get an "Unsuccessful" for skipping the quiz and/or failing the quiz?
    Settings:
    Reporting - Quiz Manager:
Enable reporting for this project -- checked
Learning Managemenet System (LMS) -- Scorm
Choose Report Data -- Report Quiz results only
Report Pass or Fail -- Report Pass/Fail (should this be Report staus as defined by report data?)
Report Score to LMS as: Percent
Reporting Level -- Report interactions and the score

I have Presenter courses working properly in Saba.  Sometimes the issue is your Offering or Content settings in Saba.  Could be a combo of having Is Scoring checked and having a Mastery Score set on Course or Offering level.
When you dig down into the Activity History for that transcript completion, what status is listed on the module level?  Saba will roll up to a status of Successful/Unsuccessful/Not Evaluated depending on how you have it setup.  What Status is your content actually passing back: Completed, Incomplete, Passed, Failed?
    Good Luck!

  • Quiz SCORM-Data transmission fails on second and any further time

I'm working with Captivate 4 and the ILIAS LMS. I have
created a quiz with multiple choice questions and published it as
SCORM 1.2. The quiz was uploaded on ILIAS .As I first tested the
quiz in ILIAS it works normally. The score.raw and lesson_status
data transmission was correct. When I start the quiz a second or
third or... time, the score.raw and lesson_status will not be send
    again to the LMS.
Maybe anyone of you have a suggestion to solve my
    problem?

Are you sure it's being 'sent to the LMS' just once? Is it
    not being
sent each time but is being ignored by the LMS once the value
    is
    something different than 'not attempted'?

  • Best Practises ►Repurposing videos with Captivate and export as SCORM

I'm new to Captivate and SCORM.  I have a series of 6 basic video Lessons (MP4s) which make-up one Course.  Lerners must complete (pass a summary quiz) each lesson before they can move on to the next.  We want to repurpose these files to create a more immersive UX.  I'm looking for a "best practices" suggestion for this work.
Currently the plan looks like this:
Re-edit existing videos into sets of smaller clips.
Create Captivate project/s using the edited clips and adding other Captivate tools/features e.g. navigation, quizzes etc.
The Captivate project/s will be exported/saved as SCORM package/s.
We will up-load the SCORM package/s to Moodle.
I'm very new to this, I've not yet created a SCORM-based Moodle project, and am not clear on how they "work," but that's for the Moodle forums.
Should I create one large "Course" with Captivate that contains all of the content from all 6 MP4s?  This will require us to rely on Captivate's functions to control access to each lesson.  Each lesson has a summary quiz; learners must pass each quiz before they can move to the next lesson.  This one SCORM package is than imported into one Moodle course.
Should I create six smaller "Lessons" with Captivate that contain only the content from one MP4?  This will require us to rely on Captivate's functions to control progress through only one lesson.  The summary quiz will be 'administered' by Captivate/SCORM.  When the learner passes the summary quiz the lesson is complete.  We will rely on Moodle's access control functionality to then provide access to the next SCORM package.
If anyone has experience with this sort of project, or can offer some advise I would appreciate it.
    Thanks
    Larry

While I cannot claim enough expertise to state these are best practices, I offer them as food for thought as you work out your implementation. We use Moodle and Captivate in combination. We do kindergarten to grade 12 curriculum and we realized that there is a huge number of lessons that can be repurposed for multiple grade levels and we also have more than one copy of many of our courses.
What we decided to do was to use what would be equivalent to a repository for the lessons portions. These have interactives in them for practice of the new concept but they are not scored. Our many courses that use a particular lesson can then link to the one instance of the lesson from the repository. This saves us a lot of disk space, development time in new course builds, and if we need to fix or update the lesson we merely have to do it once. Those are huge benefits.
Anything that will score to the grade book runs inside a course so the SCORMs can 'talk' to the course the student is in, so homework, quizzes, and tests are housed inside Moodle courses.
We can place links to the repository lessons easily into the SCORM final landing pages of after the pretest or provide the ability to link to the lesson as feedback if a student is having trouble with a particular question.
We are also starting a project of building interactive walkthroughs for each problem that will be housed in the reporitory. If students get stuck, they can be linked out to the walk through. This is a great way to do these because their homework will not have to be weighted down with a walk through for every problem. That will make them faster to load, but yet when they do need a walk through we can link them out from the SCORM to the deep and interactive added support for just what they need.
So far, this setup has worked well for us. We are not expecting any major changes such as a new domain name on the repository. If your repository domain name or server structure for your repository is likley to be in flux, then this setup is not ideal.

  • Can eLearning posted to LMS be completed in various stages

I'm fairly new to Captivate 3.0. I would like to create a
project posted to a SCORM compliant LMS that the user could opt to
complete in stages according to their time availability. Ideally
the project would enable them to pick up more or less where they
left off. I'm not sure the best way to go about doing this:
    a) One really big project
    b) Several projects-- all of which need to be completed --
    plus a mandatory quiz.
    c) Menu builder project which links to the other projects.
I have seen other eLearning (created with other tools) on our
LMS that lists various modules and as you progress you get a
'completed' status. That way you can resume on the next
    'incomplete' module next time.
When I tried to hand my LMS co-ordinator 3 distinct project
zip files to upload for testing, it wouldn't work; but he was able
to load just one project zip file.
Any advice or pointers would be appreciated.

Hi Marlene - Unfortunately, there is no direct integration between Beehive Workspaces and Oracle Review. I tried using the Remote Document capability of Review, but it seems to fail b/c you need to be able to authenticate into beehive to access the content remotely.
I would suggest manually moving the content between beehive and OReview for the time being.
Sorry we couldn't offer more help.

  • AICC Captivate 4 won't send completion to GeoMetrix LMS

    Hi,
I have a Captivate 4 course with several quiz questions. Completion criteria is pass/fail, scores only, report as score, report quiz results only. I am publishing in AICC format to the Training Partner 2009 LMS by GeoMetrix.
The LMS will recogize scores, but it does not register a completion status when the quiz is passed successfully. This results in subsequent course accesses remaining in 'credit mode' rather than the desired 'no-credit' or 'review only' mode. In other words, users can still change their scores after they pass, and they should not be able to.
Has anyone else experienced this issue with the GeoMetrix LMS? Is there a fix?
    thank you,
    Gary Poplawski

    Hi There,
    Welcome To Adobe Forum.
However you can try using SCORM CLOUD as an LMS to upload the published output.
Can you please try and upload the published output to an LMS called SCORM CLOUD.
You can create a free trial account on scorm cloud using the following steps:
    Browse to  the link https://cloud.scorm.com/sc/guest/SignUpForm
Now Create your free trial account.
Now publish the output in a zip format (in the form of SWF with reporting option enable and choose “Scorm” from the option)
Now sign in into scorm cloud and upload the course and launch the output.
Please check the result and let us know if it works fine.
    Thanks and Regards

  • Captivate 4: 3 Attempts, Score and Completion Status Issue

    Hi Everyone,
I hope somoene may have some insight on this issue.  We built a quiz in Captivate that has a minimum passing score of 80% and allows the learner 3 attempts to complete it.  The quiz should only send a completed status to the LMS if an 80% or greater is acheived.  If the learner takes the quiz and passes on the 1st attempt, the quiz is marked as completed and passes the correct score to the LMS.  However, if the learner fails the first time, and then gets a passing score on a 2nd or 3rd attempt, the new score is passed to the LMS but the status remains as incomplete. I included a screenshot from a test I ran in SCORM Test track.  I failed the first attempt and passed on my second attempt with a 97%.  However, as you see it is stated as incomplete.  When I passed on the first attempt, it says completed.  Any thoughts?  Perhaps this is a setting somewhere that is incorrect?  We have tried several things and even tried calling Adobe Support (but after an hour and a half of holding and transfers that hit a wall).  Any insight would be great!!
    Thanks,
    Connor

Complete/Incomplete is more related to how many of the slides in the project were viewed all the way through to the end.
If you're talking about a score from the Quiz being at least 80% in order to pass then maybe you should be focusing more on Pass/Fail.
Check your Quiz Settings in Captivate.  Do you have it set to report Complete/Incomplete or Pass/Fail?
Maybe what you're seeing here as inconsistency is due to your not watching every single slide all the way through on the second time through.

  • Help! Multiple quiz results in Results Analyzer erase previous results

I'm very new to Captivate and having trouble with the Quiz Results Analyzer. I have 3 separate quizzes and have included the button for students to "post results" and log into an Acrobat account, then I can view their scores in the Analyzer.
I'm using C. version 6, and in the Quiz Preferences Settings, I gave each quiz a unique name, objective ID and interaction ID prefix.
Everything works when students take quiz 1, but when they take quiz 2, the Captivate Quiz Results Analyzer completely replaces their orginal quiz score. Then when they take quiz 3, it replaces their quiz 2 score.
Did I miss something in Captivate, or do I need to configure something differently in with Acrobat or the Analyzer?  I honestly don't remember where/how I set up the Analyzer results, and now it doesn't seem to give me any way to change things (ie, add a course, etc).
I will admit that originally I didn't give the quizzes an Interaction ID prefix (only unique objective IDs). But I've corrected that and now I have different ID prefixes for each one, yet after retrying the quizzes, I still see they are each replacing the old scores with the most recent ones.
Any ideas what I am doing wrong?  Thank you!

I would suggest please go through this blog post:

  • Is it possible to copy and paste a review quiz from on book into another?

I have a number of quizzes in an ibook which I have been using as a sand box.
There are 10 questions in each quiz.
I have copied and pasted a lot of the material from the trial ibook into a new book.
I would like to copy and paste the quizzes from the first book into the new new ibook also.
    Is this possible?

Its possible to make a duplicate of the quiz within an ibook, but I have tried CUT and PASTE but it does not work even though they are both colored black in the menu.
As CUT and PASTE are colored black, I thought that it might somehow be possible to copy them from one ibook to another.
I can copy the complete section containing the quiz from the first ibook to the second ibook. If I could then copy the review quiz to the appropriate section in the second ibook, and then delete the copied section, it might work.
However, it still will not copy and paste the review quiz, only make a duplicate next to the original quiz.

  • "Previous" button locks up Quiz screens

Hello.  I was wondering if anyone has encountered the phenomenon of Captivate placing a "You did not answer the question completely" on all the quiz screens in a file in the event the user would click the "Previous" button in the skin?  When this happens, all of the quiz screens in the file have the aforementioned message and the user can not complete the quiz.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Can you check the Quiz Preferences, Settings: is the option 'Allow backward movement' activated?

  • CP7 SCORM 2004: When should success status be sent to the LMS?

I'm seeing success sent only on quiz passed along with completion status. However, I'd like it to be sent on one slide view, with Completion being sent on quiz passed.

I'm trying to make success trigger on slide one, because it is meaningless to our LMS. In our system, their forward progress is dependent on completion, which is set to "quiz is passed. However, I've noticed that I can't get success to trigger, even though it is set to one slide view, if the student leaves the lesson before they complete the quiz.
Also, we're having trouble getting individual reports for those abandoned sessions, and I suspect that if I can trigger "success" as I'm aiming to, we'll see those individual abandoned reports as well. Right now, a student can overwrite their abandoned attempt until they complete the session by passing the quiz.
If you could pass on the script to set success, I'd definitely like to give it a try.

What do you mean by "adjust"? Editing of Photoshop images should be done in Photoshop.
Sure, it's possible to save individual layers from an image in Photoshop as inidvidual files in a variety of formats, but what's the point? You could just as easily import the layered file, then copy/paste it into a new layer for each layer in the image and use layer visibility to control which ones show. I don't think that will do you a lot of good, though, if you use adjustment layers or opacity controls on the layer in Photoshop.
