Screen Draw Weirdness Importing Existing Clips

I've been having a strange problem when I try to import an existing clip into iMovie HD 6.
It displays an image of a frame of the clip directly on the screen overwriting whatever was there, including wiping out my wallpaper.
To recover I have to move a window over that area and then move or close that window causing a redraw.
Has anyone else seen this?
Thanks,
Joe.

I haven't seen that problem, Joe, but it may be important. Please report the problem to Apple. (Apple doesn't read these user forums.) If you can, provide a step-by-step description of exactly how you make it occur.

Do you have any third-party QuickTime plug-ins installed? Users have been lots weird problems reported with any of these: 3ivx, Divx, Flip4Mac. If so, remove them and Restart your Mac.

  • Why do I get a black rectangle on the left side of the screen when I import a clip in Imovie?

I import a clip into imovie 6 and I get a black rectangle on the left side of the screen. It's driving me crazy!

    Thanks for the reply.
My original source material is in Apple Intermediate Codec, with 32-bit float audio and a variable frame rate. This has not been friendly to FCP, so I use Quicktime to convert it to Apple ProRes with 24-bit audio and 29.97 frame rate. This is what I import into FCP.
My sequence settings are set to the same specs as my source material. 854x480, square pixels, no field dominance, Apple ProRes compression.
The black bar on the left side of the screen shows up before I even export. It shows up when I render everything.
I am exporting with Quicktime Conversion to:
    MP4
    h.264 codec
    720x405
    1000 video bit rate
    Main Profile
    No cropping/filters or anything.
The ONLY thing I did different before upgrading to FCP6 was that I used Apple Intermediate Codec all the way through. I was told by an FCP instructor that writes and publishes all kinds of FCP training material that I should upgrade to FCP6 and use the Apple ProRes422 Codec instead, so that's what I'm trying to do.
I am going back to restart my project using Apple Intermediate Codec all the way through like I used to, but it will be awhile before I can tell if that solved the problem. Either way, I would like to be using the ProRes codec....
    Thoughts?

  • I have an old project with AVCHD clips and I want to import the clips again with surround sound. How can I relink the project clips to the re-imported ones without doing the project from the begining?

I have an old project with AVCHD clips and I want to import the clips again with surround sound. How can I relink the project clips to the re-imported ones without doing the project from the begining?
I have a sony handicam and I imported the clips to iMovie and they lost quality and converted the audio to stereo. I want to import the project to final cut X and import the AVCHD in 1080p and surround sound and export the movie in bluray. Can I relink the clips without editing everything again?
    thanks!

Only photos taken with the iPad, copied onto it via the camera connection kit, or saved from emails/websites etc can be deleted directly on the iPad - either via the trashcan icon in the top right corner if viewing the photo in full screen, or via the icon of the box with the arrow coming out of it in thumbnail view.
Photos that were synced from a computer are deleted by moving/removing/de-selecting them from where they were synced from and then re-syncing. If you want to remove them all then normally you could just sync an empty folder (in terms of photos) to the iPad, but as you don't want to sync at the moment you can't do that.
You can reset the iPad back to factory settings and start from scratch with it : Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content And Settings

  • Premiere CS5 import avi clips without sound. How can I import avi clips with sound without convert?

    Dear Adobe Forum,
I have the following problem, please help:
I would like to import avi clips in adobe premiere. All clips have the same avi codec. But unfortunately my adobe premiere does not import the sound of a few
avi clips. It is wired because about 10 out 70 avi clips which have all the same avi codec does not work with sound in premiere CS5. In the timline premiere import the video and audio line but there are no audio waves in the about 10 avi clips. additonally premiere plays the 10 avi clips in the source monitor without sound. Furthermore when I open the 10 avi files without adobe premiere they have sound, but with premiere there are no sound in the 10 avi clips.
What can I do, so that I can import all avi files with sound. I do not want to convert each of the avi files because then they have not a good quality and it is to complicated and it takes to much time to convert all files in this video project and in the other video project in my future.
Consequently How can I import all avi files so that they have immediately sound? Do I have to change some premiere settings?
    Thank you in advance
    Leonardo

  • Import incomplete clips

    hello!
I just got a new HD camcorder - the Samsung HMX-H200 - and everytime I try to import, the clip gets cut short. I play the clip(s) in import mode & they seem normal & everything's there, but when I check the events once they're imported, there's a huuge chunk of the end missing :S
I've yet to try to convert the MP4's +and then+ import - I'd rather not have to do that for every time I edit.
Any & all help is greatly appreciated

    woops!
i think it was just a weird glitch.
when i tried importing it manually, the videos were greyed out
no idea what changed the second time around :S

  • Delayed live screen drawing with tools in Photoshop. Video driver update?

Delayed live screen drawing with tools in Photoshop CS5 on my iMac running system 10.6.7.
Hi there. Recently, I've been having issues with the tools. There's a distinct DELAY in the live drawing. For example, if I open a random image, take the pencil, paintbrush, or even eraser tool, and I draw a large line across the image, I don't see anything. If I zoom in or out 1 click, I see the line. If I draw ANOTHER line, same thing - I need to zoom in or out to see it. With all of the tools. I've never had this issue before and it's incredibly frustrating (that might be an understatement as you can imagine - I use PS daily as I am a full-time designer.) Any ideas or solutions? I've already TRASHED my preferences and reset the tool. If it IS a driver issue (which is weird, because this issue just recently started happening) I contacted the driver manufacturer (AMD) and was told:
"Unfortunately, Apple does not authorize us to release drivers for their products.
All drivers are provided to Apple who then customize and release them to their customers.
You will need to contact Apple to obtain the most current drivers for your product."

You are correct - only Apple can deliver display drivers to you.  That's what you get with a Mac as Apple wants to be your "one stop shop" for support..
Just curious:  Are you painting with large brushes and very small Spacing values?  That can cause some delay, though it normally catches up on its own - you don't have to do anything to make it happen.
Have you tried disabling OpenGL Drawing in your Photoshop Edit - Preferences - Performance menu.  Restart Photoshop after making that change and before testing.

  • Weird problem moving clips to timeline!

I'm using Premiere Pro CS6.0.3 in Win 7 64bit. Almost every time I start a new project, after I've imported my clips to the Project window, as soon as I move the first single clip to the timeline, ALL the clips jump to the timeline in random order, as if they were one big single clip!! Weird! If I Undo it, and then try again to move a single clip to the timeline, then it works okay...usually. Sometimes not, and the only way to correct it is to dump the clips and re-import them, or restart Premiere.
I figure this must be something I've overlooked in one of the setups, but I can't for the life of me figure out what. If I can get a single clip onto the timeline, then the rest of the session works just fine. Also, this doesn't seem to effect saved projects. Just happens when starting a brand new project.   Any ideas? Thanks!

When they get imported into a Bin they are all "selected" (Highlighted) in case one wants to do some other group action with them (eg Modify).
CTRL- A will deselect them (ie unhighlight them) allowing one to use them individually.
Clicking off them = click somewhere else apart from the Highlighted files.
    Got it?

  • IMovie 10.0.4 imported video clips are blank and green?

I've imported video clips successfully from a VHS player & from a few DVD's to iMovie 10.0.4. However, the most recent DVD I've wanted to import doesn't work. The original DVD is in UDF format. I converted it to MP4.4 format, and the first time I played it in iMovie, it worked fine. But the second time I played it, the whole clip was super jittery like it was skipping every 0.5 seconds. Then the third time I played it, the clip was just a blank green screen. I've tried using the most recent version of HandBreak to convert the DVD to a different format that supposedly iMovie can read, but the same thing happens when it's imported into iMovie - just a blank green clip. What am I doing wrong?? Thanks all.

Same issue I've seen. I have a Sony DCR-TRV30. Had 40 tapes to transfer to iMovie 10.0.6. Had no issue on first 16 tapes then all the sudden I experienced the audio/video timing issue. Video looks good when it is getting imported, audio/video in sync on camera and in preview window on iMovie while importing. Tape finishes and you start to watch import when beginning of tape is in sync and by end it is several seconds out of sync. Tried deleting and installing iMovie again and that didn't help.

  • Import existing web content.

    Hello,
We have an existing internal web site that I would like to bring into Portal Page Groups. The content is mostly static HTML with relatively linked images and docs. Is there a script or procedure for doing this?
    Thanks for any assistance.

To import existing Web content, OracleAS Portal offers a number of content integration technologies (ZIP files, WebDAV, Omniportlet, and APIs) which may help you migrate your existing Portal content/static content to OracleAS Portal:
    1) ZIP file item type (accessible from the add item wizard) - allows you to upload static content and associated images very easily into a portal page/page group - all in just one single operation. Zip File items make it very simple to stage and maintain formerly static HTML Web sites.
    2) WebDAV i.e. drag and drop the content. You can set a default region for which the content ends up in. More information is available at this link below:
    http://portalstudio.oracle.com/pls/ops/docs/FOLDER/COMMUNITY/OTN_CONTENT/MAINPAGE/PUBLISH_CONTMGMT/TECHNOTE_WEBDAV.HTML
    3) From Portal version 9.0.2.6 onwards, content area APIs are available. See the portalstudio link below for more details.

  • Copy existing clip data to XMP Metadata

Hi, after looking on the forums and reading the Adobe Premiere Pro Metadata manual, I discovered that when entering Metadata in the clip data field you need to have the little link box checked next to the clip data field in order to have that metadata follow that clip to whatever project you import it into in the future.  However, I discovered this after entering clip data for hundreds of clips and would like to know if there is a way to link the information I already entered into the clip data field to the XMP metadata so I don't have to do it all over again for every clip.  The manual only says that clicking the link does NOT copy over existing clip data, but does not say whether or not there is a way to do this.  Any suggestions?

Because sourceFolder and targetFolder are Finder items --> folder "Submissions" of folder "Zoom" of folder "Brands" of disk "DCKGEN".
You must first convert the path to make the coercion (the path and  the name), like this : ((sourceFolder as text) & eachFile)
But this call the the Finder each time.
It's best to convert the variables only once :
set sourceFolder to sourceFolder as string
set targetFolder to targetFolder as string
-- now loop though the files
    repeat with eachFile in newFiles
But it may have other consequences if these variables are used later in the script
So I recommend to use other variables, like this :
set sFolder1 to sourceFolder as string -- convert Finder item to text and put it in another variable
set tFolder2 to targetFolder as string
-- now loop though the files
    repeat with eachFile in newFiles
--          convert the filenames to posix paths that the shell can handle
set srcFile to quoted form of POSIX path of (sFolder1 & eachFile)
set destFile to quoted form of POSIX path of (tFolder2 & eachFile)
-- and cat the data, removing the files as you go
              do shell script "cat " & srcFile & " >> " & destFile & " && rm " & srcFile
    end repeat

  • Importing QT clips to make instructional video

I would like to create an instructional video that uses pieces of Keynote presentations (which have been exported to QT) and video screen captures taken with SnapzPro, which are also .mov. In the past, I have just used Keynote to export to QT Pro and then made a few adjustments in QTPro, but I would like to be able to fine tune it more and assemble something that looks more professional, with music and effects, etc. (like the Apple tutorials).
I am very new to FCE and a bit overwhelmed with it all. The problem I am having is that when I import these clips into FCE, they need to be rendered and following that, the picture just becomes blurry. Is my problem related to my not matching up settings, or is what I’m trying to do something that can only be done in FCPro? I have not found a way to enter in specific frame rates in FCE so that they match my clips – just small, medium, large?
Has anybody else tried something like this? I’m not working with any video captured from a camera or tape, just QT .mov files. I just want to know if the problem is that I just don’t know enough yet, or if it’s that FCE can’t do this.
    Any help appreciated.

within iMovie, what's the easiest way of saving them all separately outside of the project so that I can batch convert them all with Streamclip
No need to save them outside iMovie.
Just quit iMovie. Then with MPEG Streamclip drill into the iMovie project (select All files in the open file dialog) and choose /Cache/Timeline Movie.mov as an input. (That feature was suggested by an iMovie user (cough, cough)).

  • 2D Screen Draw Issues - KT880 Delta

Ok, here I am again after resolving all the other issues.
It would appear that I am having some slight 2D screen draw issues.  As with everyone else that has posted in these forums along the same lines with the KT880 Delta everything is fine with 3D.  For some reason it is only with 3D.
So far I have done the following:
Moved my Soundblaster Live Card to the 5th PCI Slot to avoid any conflict.
Installed, Uninstalled and reinstalled both sound and nVidia drivers
Disabled VLink 8x in the bios
Set AGP to 4x in the bios (I only have a 4x AGP card currently)
    Set the cache to 128mb
First installed the correct 4-in-1 drivers, then superceded thoses with the Hyperion drivers instead.
Despite all this I am still getting draw issues when minimising and maximizing windows, scrolling through web sites, and dragging open windows around the desktop.  However, I have tried 2d drawing tests on windows media player 10, as well as pitstop (that actually told me I had a good setup!!)
So, not too sure what to do...any more help would be great.
    Specs are:
    MSI KT880 Board
    Sempron 2800+ 2.0ghz CPU
    1.5Ghz DDR333 memory
    Gainward MX440 128Mb 4x AGP card
    Creative Soundblaster Live! 1024 card
350w PSU (Not sure what type it is!!!)
    I hope thats enough information

This appears to be a recurring problem with the KT880 across several different graphic cards (mostly NVIDIA).  I've never seen so many complaints specific to 2D graphics collectively as have been reported here for just one particular mainboard.  There is talk of a BETA BIOS that solved at least one case, but not others:
KT880 Slow 2D Performance with Leadtek 6600GT AGP
    KT880 Screen Draw problem
KT880 DELTA mainboard and 2D speed decrease
MSI kt880 Delta + Graphics card = problems
KT880 Slow Screen Draw and other problems
KT880 DELTA FSR Problem with graphics in Win XP
The number of reported cases is more than the # of threads because some users entered into existing threads to report they had the same problem with KT880.  MSI should be investigating this issue.

  • Importing video clips in AVCHD (Lite) into Aperture vs iMovie

I'm trying to figure out which application I should use for importing and storing video clips shot on my Panasonic DMC-ZS7 camera. This camera can shoot in AVCHD (Lite) or in Motion JPEG. I use the AVCHD (Lite) format to shoot the videos with this camera.
The two application options I currently have for importing video clips from this camera are:
    a. Aperture 3.5.1 (I'm not using iPhoto since I have Aperture).
    b. iMovie 10.0.1 (I'm not using Final Cut Pro)
When I first got this camera, Aperture 3 did not support the AVCHD Lite codec. Back then, iMovie could import video clips shot in AVCHD Lite, but it had to transcode the AVCHD video clips into AIC (Apple Intermediate Codec). Some time later, one of the Aperture 3 updates made it possible to import AVCHD Lite into Aperture (without having to transode into an intermediate codec), so we started importing our video clips shot in AVCHD Lite (together with our photos shot by the same camera) directly into Aperture.
iMovie 10 released in 2013 supports importing video clips shot in AVCHD Lite without having to transode them to AIC for storing these video clips in iMovie. So, now we have a dilemma that we need help with. Which application should we use going forward for importing video clips from this camera?
When I look at the metadata for the imported videos in Aperture, I see that the format of the imported video clips is listed as H.264. However, I can't seem to be able to find any information about the format in which iMovie stores imported videos. I can "Reveal in Finder" a video that I import into iMovie, and I see the size of the file and the .mov extension assigned to the file. With video files, the extension does not always determine the codec of the file, but in my non-expert opinion, the .mov extension is not H.264; I may be totally wrong here, though. What I have noticed, though, is that a video clip imported into iMovie has the file size that is about 10% larger than the same video clip imported into Aperture.
    Therefore, I have three questions:
    1. What format is a video clip (shot in AVCHD Lite) stored in Aperture 3.5.1 and in iMovie 10.0.1
    2. Which format (the one used by Aperture or the one used in iMovie) is better suited for transoding AVCHD videos into? The balance of the quality and file size is the main consideration for us.
    3. Which applications would you personally prefer using for importing video clips to and why?
I do want to use some of these video clips to make home videos in the future, utillizing iMovie. However, it seems I can still store the raw footage in Aperture and access this raw footage from iMovie to be able to create an iMovie project and a final home video. One of the concerns is that if we keep importing our video clips into Aperture, the Aperture library could grow beyond the size that Aperture can support and we may end up losing our photos due to the database corruption. Is this a real risk?
    Thank you!

I had the same question recently. Go to the right of this box and a little above, into the Search Discussions window. Type in this: Is MPEG2 the answer
You will find my question, and the great answers I got. Follow those directions and you will be all set!

  • Importing existing project to Project Online

Hello, my company recently purchased Project Online to add to our existing Office 365 environment.
From the Project Web App home page, I would like to use the Create or Import projects tile to add an existing .mpp project file that I have uploaded to my SkyDrive to Project Online, and manage this project from the Project Web app.
However, I cannot figure out how to do this or if it is even possible. The tile itself says "Create new or import from Sharepoint sites and project files.".  To import an existing project you're then referred to this site: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/project-server-help/more-ways-to-create-or-import-projects-HA102923810.aspx.
On that site the only listed ways of importing an existing project are to import a Sharepoint task list (not what I want) or by connecting your local Project Pro to Project Online and publishing the project.
Importing or uploading an existing project file directly to Project Online would seem to be a fundamental basic usage of Project Online. Do I really need to also purchase Project Professional in order to import existing project files to Project Online?
    Thanks

Project Online cannot read mpp files, hence the reason for requiring Project Professional 2013 if you want to import these into Project Online - even if you only want to manage them via Project Web App from then on.
If you've not got Project 2013 Pro, you could cut and paste the existing task list from Project into a SharePoint list, and create the project from there.
The way forward will depend on the complexity of your schedules, remember that PWA does not have all of the capability of MS Project 2013
