Context:
I need to add UI-elements on top of some native views.
When adding native components on screen (Native Alerts, SMS compose-view, Email compose-view, MapKit, etc.) they are layered over the entire AIR application.
I have no control over this layering and so I can not put AIR UI-elements above these views.
So... what I'm trying to do is:
- take a screenshot (bitmapdata) of the component (eg.: MapKit, or even the entire screen)
- hide the actual native component
- add the bitmapdata to the AIR displaylist
- add the neccesary UI-elements over that bitmap
- presto
But native components aren't part of the displaylist, so I can't take bitmapdata from them...
So my second plan was to capture the bitmapdata natively as a UIImage, convert that to a bytearray and pass it to AIR.
Then in actionscript convert the bytearray back to an image, etc.
This seems like an awful lot of work (I'm not even sure it would work) to get a screenshot of a native view or the entire screen.
Actual question:
How can I take a screenshot of my iDevice and use it in flash?
And please don't tell me to use the cameraroll, I don't want to store dozens of UI screenshots on the users device.

IOS pdf viewer cannot display text that was entered in acrobat forms???

hi.
i have a blank PDF form. i enter text into this form on my mac, i use the latest adobe acrobat or adobe reader to do this. i email this filled out form to a person. the person uses an iphone or ipad to view his mail. he is a novice user, no extra apps installed. the user opens the attached pdf (default ios pdf reader) and the form is displayed.
but – not a single word i entered into the form is displayed.
it seems that forms that are filled out with acrobat/reader can't be correctly displayed on an iphone/ipad? They show up blank!
I tested this with a few documents, same result.
any help?

The basic readers might not process field forms, just the basic context of the PDF.
It is best to add an app that can process Acrobat PDF forms, not just read them. I would look at PDF Expert since it appears to be the most compatible and runs custom JavaScripts in forms. Another option would be the Adobe Mobile PDF Reader.
Did you create the PDF form?
PDF forms can be created by Acrobat, AcroForms, or using LiveCycle, XML forms. The majority of iOS or android mobile devices cannot process XML forms.
Trying to read PDFs on mobile devices requires testing of the PDF to fix display issues and if you are using forms the JavaScript within forms needs to be tested for compatibility with various app readers to see if the form fields and code even work.

Font used in iOS Document Viewer

Hi, after doing a few Google searches there seems to be very little on the web of this issue.
When viewing documents (.doc etc.) is there a way to change the font it is displayed in? I find the Serif font very disorientating on such a small screen and would prefer a simple Sans-Serif. Is this at all possible?

IOS 8 view problems on iPhone 5s

After updating to iOS 8, if I am viewing an email and the phone goes to sleep mode, when I return to the phone it will not allow the email to change from regular or landscape mode to the other. I have to close the mail app and restart it to get it to work properly again, until the phone goes to sleep again. Any one having this issue or know of a fix?

Mine was stuck around 90% during the update of iOS 8.0. Nothing happened for a while. when i checked my computer, there was an error says they couldn't update. I didn't know what to do. So i've searched on google and found an answer saying "press and hold home button and on/off key till the device restart". I did. Phone restarted and was already connected to the PC. I tunes asked me to restore and I did. after restarting 2-3 times, now it's up and running. by the way, i'm using a iphone 4S.

It shouldn't. You can use stagewebview and you can point it to local files or external web links. It creates an instance of mobile safari so anything that can be rendered in there can be viewed.

IOS - Multiple views...separate toolbar in each?

Hi, working on my first iPhone app and having trouble with toolbars. I have four separate views in the app, controlled by a TabBar in the app delegate class. Each view has it's own view controller class and it's own xib file. So far so good...when I run the app, I can change view using the tab bar. If I put other controls in the different views these show up and behave as expected. However, what I would like to do is have a toolbar at the top of some of the views (not all), and have different controls embedded in each. I can put a toolbar object and embedded controls in the xib of a view, but when I run the app, the toolbar is not visible. Is this set-up even possible, or do I have to have a single toolbar in the app delegate class and control the showing/hiding and embedded controls programatically when the view changes?

You have one master inBox. Click the little arrow next to inbox. This should let you see all the separate accounts mounted under it. I keep this open so I can see which accounts have new mail when it comes in. It makes keeping track of 8 mailboxes easier:->
This also works with the Sent Folder and the Trash folder. They should also have an arrow by them and you can click to see the accounts under each choice.

Does iOS support viewing Track Changes?

I'm trying to open Word documents that contain track changes but the iPad only seems to view the 'Final' version. Curious if there is a setting to change this. Thanks in advance.

I wish Apple would go back to the way changes and comments were displayed in Pages '09 rather than the way they are displayed in Pages 5. It seems like a massive step backward and I even had a professor state that Microsoft veered away from the direction that Apple seems to be moving toward with this last update. So I have elected to keep using Pages '09 because I am working with scientific manuscripts that have various drafts and it is to important to be able to quickly identify who made changes rather than slowly clicking through each edit to find the specific ones that are critical.

IOS App View Bugs

Help! I'm getting this bug that zooms out Facebook and Twitter apps on my 4S. I've tried restarting, deleting and reinstalling and restoring the phone, but this bug persists. Any ideas?

Check your settings to see if Accessibility functions are turn on: Settings App > General > Accessibility. Zoom is the likely culprit if this is the issue.

No Screenshots possible after update to iOS 8.1.1

I updated yesterday my iPhone 6 plus with 128 GB from iOS 8.1 to iOS 8.1.1. The update runs during step installation well. The validation step fails with a white screen. After 10 minutes I stopped the iPhone 6 plus and tried to reboot. It fully automatically fails serveral times to reboot and succeded then at the end. The update info said iOS. 8.1.1 is installed. I cannot do any screenshots under iOS 8.1.1, neither on portrait nor landscape mode. Several times per week I have to do screenshots. I am really sad with the bugs of iOS 8.* and iPhone 6 plus 128 GB. When does Apple delivers the next update after iOS 8.1.1? I need the screenshot option back portrait + landscape, urgingly !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Although this reply is late. I just want to share that I have the same issue - no LTE after upgrade to 8.1.3 on my iPhone 5. No matter switch on/off iPhone or LTE option or Airplane Mode - they all didn't work....but after an upgrade to 8.2 today. I got my LTE back now after a month...not sure if it is a bug or a reset work. Good luck to anyone who looking for the resolution of same issue.

Though, i can oped normally PDF files like Fotos, Invoices etc.
Any idea what's going wrong ?

IOS 8.1 is viewing of raw files in photos app fast?

After upgrading from ios 7 to ios 8 the viewing of raw photos (nikon NEF) in the photos app became very slow.
Is this still the case wit IOS 8.1? Under ios 7 viewing nikon nefs was as fast as viewing jpegs.I have an ipad air of the first generation.

Yes. It has been sped up, but only a little.. It's still freezing on images and crashing.

IPhoto 11: How to view "all photos" while in full screen mode

In iPhoto, when it's not in full screen mode, if you click photos in the sidebar (under Library), you get a nice view of ALL your photos, and you have the option to sort them by event. When you go from this view straight to full screen mode, it stays this way, which in my case is particularly useful since I like to move photos around from event to event. However, staying in full screen mode, as soon as I click an any other of the menus at the bottom (events, faces, places, albums, projects), I cannot find anyway to get back to the "all photos" view, other than to take it OUT of full screen mode, click on "Photos" in the side bar, and then go back to full screen mode. Either I am missing something that is glaringly obvious, or this is a rather annoying oversight by Apple. It seems like it would be natural to have "Photos" be one of the options along with Events, Faces, Places, Albums and Projects in full screen mode. Right now the only work around I've been able to come up with (aside from going back and forth with fullscreen mode), and to hit "command F" while in full screen mode, and then type "i", which will give me what I am want only because all my photos start with "i". Not a very elegant work around, I know, but perhaps I am missing something very obvious.

In case my description isn't clear, here is a screenshot of exactly the view in full screen mode I am talking about that I can't seem to return to once I leave it, other than to go back to non full screen mode or use the search trick.

Unfortunately, there is no feature that provides this functionality. The only option would be to take a screenshot of the history view and then print that.
