Script servers update and restart
i would like to automate install updates and restart for the servers on scheduled time (or initiate manually for all/groups) that are on GPO option 3 (download updates but let me install).
I found couple of discussions from year 2010 and there is a success after many suggestions. But it is a bit time consuming to follow all this. So, may there is a definite step by step guide.

I am talking about the servers that will not cause any disruption.
1. All servers are on option GPO option 3 (download updates only).
2. In my case I talk about 15 hyper-v hosts with 2 VMs each (DC and Print server).
So I know that any time Saturday, Sunday or any night time will not cause any problem.
So instead of login to 15 HV hosts and then to 2 VMs on each for launching Windows update and restart I guess it is a valid option to run a script and get notification. The servers are generally HEALTHY so even in case of some error or non restart I can
manage it after getting a notification.

Video no longer plays from sites on comedy central. Site says browser must be updated, but I have installed all updates and restarted the computer..twice.
If it is any consolation this started happening to me today. I am in Toronto. I am wondering if there is a copyright issue here. I have done nothing to solve it - mostly because I suspect this has nothing to do with my computer.
p.s. My speculation about copyright is not correct. Comedy Central plays fine with Google Chrome. Have not yet tested Firefox. -

Why does the App store say 'download' to OSX Mavericks when i have already downloaded the update, and restarted the computer?
I can't find Mavericks icon on the dashboard or launchpad either! Help!It sounds like you've installed Mavericks. You can confirm this by clicking on the Apple located at the top left of the screen and choosing "About This Mac" from the menu. You should see a window appear with the text "Version 10.9.1" near the middle.
If it says "Version 10.9.1", then you've installed Mavericks. It still says "Download" in the App Store because you can still download the operating system after installing it. This is useful if you want to download it for a friend, or create a USB boot drive.

I make some updates and restart my Macbook Pro, and the screen became Grey with 3 beeps with Led.
I read it could be the RAM memory. So I opened it and tried to reconected them.. but the problem continues.. So I asume it was one of the memories or one of the Slots... But when I tried them separetly all the Slots and memories worked... But togheter the problems continues.
Any suggestion?
The Mac worked perfect! There where just some updates...and before the restart, a pop up appeared saying that the updates could not be done because of an error... after that... the restart, the grey screen, and the 3 beeps with 3 leds.

Hernan.Have you tried putting back the original memory and seeing if that works?
Also if you could tell us the mode of the MBP, how much memory was in it and what you are upgrading to it would help. -
Installed latest update and restarted computer and iTunes wont open!
I have just installed the latest update to iTunes and restarted the computer when told to and went to open iTunes to sync my latest songs and it says:
"iTunes cannot run because some of its required files are missed.
Please reinstall iTunes."
This would result in me loosing all my music so I hope you have a solution.A simple thing to try is a repair install. You can do this from programs on Control panel, or you can download the iTunes installer and save in on your PC. When you run it it will give the option to repair if it is the same version as the one you have installed.

Otherwise, in the past this has been associated with Spyware Terminator blocking things, but that was a while ago.
The other thing to check for is malware. You can download a free version of malwarebytes to do the scan:

Mail Application won't open despite software updates and restarts. Can anyone help?

Having major problems with Mail today. Updated all of my software on my Macbook pro and then tried to open Mail which was not responding before the updates. Now it wont even open despite having all software up to date and having tried restarting the computer over and over. When I go to open it it immediately says not responding when I open the Force Quit window. Doesn't matter how long I leave it open. When I try to restart, restart stops as Mail is not responding. have to force quit and start over. Can't access my emails. Anyone have any ideas? PS - I am not very tech savvy, so if you do have ideas, please be clear in how to execute. Thanks in advance!Had the same problem, I installed the following update and it fixed it for me:

Make sure your iTunes version is version 12. if it is and still doesn't work, reinstall itunes from this installer: iTunes
Make sure you have a Time Machine backup, but you shouldn't lose your library by reinstalling iTunes. -
So I tried it again and it said I still have all the same updates like i had never tried to install them? Any help? I want the new Itunes.

I updated my iTunes on my windows 7 laptop. I restarted the computer to relaunch iTunes and get it back running and it said that there was an error updating. Trying to uninstall and reinstall,comp wont uninstall programs -.- what do?

Last night my computer (Win 7 Dell laptop - Firefox) did an update. It restarted and when I turned it back on, the computer gave me a message that said "preparing your desktop" before I could log in. When I logged in, it was almost as if the computer was brand new - the desktop theme was new, it said my mouse was ready to use, and then it said that internet explorer 10 was updated. I clicked on Firefox as usual, expecting it to give me the screen where it asks me if I want it to restore all of my tabs, and it was the Mozilla home page and firefox was barebones in the sense that it didn't have any of my add-ons, or even the basic, file, edit, view, history, bookmarks, tools, help buttons on the screen. When I went into the history, it only had today listed, and no websites!!! I am freaking out and I really need to know how to get everything back to the way it was. I had a Personas add-on with 36 backgrounds that I adored, and I don't want to have to go back and re-download all of my add-ons, not to mention there is no way, I would be able to remember or pick up where I left off with all of those tabs I need for work. Please help me!
That is a Windows temporary profile, not the fault of Firefox, but something (possibly a windows update, they rolled a bunch out today) corrupted your Windows profile. http://www.sysprobs.com/fix-temporary-profile-windows-7 can help you, this will also bring back your Firefox data.

10.5.7 update and Restart Screen
I have just updated to 10.5.7, then i tried to use Preview to look at a picture, and it did'nt open so i tried to Force Quit, but it failed. So then I restarted my Mac, and I got a screen with an Apple Logo on it, then a transparent gray screen came down saying I have to restart my computer. I did this several times, and tried booting in safe mode. Nothing. Please help.

After software update and restart, acts like it's a new install?

After doing the recent software update on my son's 20" iMac C2D machine, I did the restart and once it reboots I get the "quick start" page as if it were a new install of Leopard and nothing were no user accounts set up. I can restart in target disc mode and connect to the iMac with my MBP, everything is still there, including all the recent files on the desktop. The Time Machine back up is also in tact.
Why can't it see the account and boot up? Any way to boot from the Time Machine back up? Any help is much welcomed at this point as my son needs to do some school work tonight.By "quick start" do you mean the Setup Assistant that, among other things, lets you setup the first user account? If so, go with it. When you get to setting up that account, ensure that the "short name" exactly matches the name of the lost home folder. The new account will "adopt" that folder & you should be back in business.
FWIW... an alternative would be to setup a temporary account like "test". Once you have access to the system, you'd go to SysPrefs->Accounts and add a new user whose short name, again, matches the name of the home folder you want. In this case, it will say that a folder with that name exists & ask whether you want to use it. This method is useful if you can't remember the exact name of the folder in question - you can open the Users folder and copy the name letter for letter.

After closing iphoto and restarting Albums dissapear
library is kept on a Zip disk. After closing iPhoto and restarting all the albums dissappear. Pics are still in the library but all albums and sorted pics are gone. I'm getting ready to go back to "Jpeg View".
