SDK to install on Win7, Win8 & on Win8Pro embedded versions.

Hi,
I would like to develop Windows App which will be installed and run on Windows Tab.
I have been reading in different places and came to know that I need to install SDK on one of the Win7, Win8 or Win8Pro; I tried getting more information on how to download, install & use the SDK from scratch but all my efforts went in vain.
Can anybody guide me in the correct path what I need to install and what sdk can I install to develop Windows App along with the Downloadable link either free or for purchase.

  • WinUsb, INF fail to install on Win7 while Successfully install in Win8

    Use-case
Windows 2012 as the development machine ( where the INF is signed )
inf2cat and signtool are used to sign the INF
Signed INF ( along with the co-installers ) are deployed on a Win7 Ultimate machine
    Problem description
While successfully installed on Win8*.* while right-clicking to install on Win7 I get "The INF file you selected does not support this method of installation" ( setupapi.dev.log say nothing )
When using "devcon dp_add %INF File" the driver is successfully installed, BUT, is not associated with any of the related Hardware IDs... After devcon usage, when manually updating the driver using "Device Manager", I get "The required
section was not found in the INF", setupapi.dev.log is saying the same: "CoInstaller 1: failed(0xe0000101)!, !!!  dvi: Error 0xe0000101:
The required section was not found in the INF."
What am I doing wrong? why does for Win8 the INF is successfully installed and for Win7 it fails ?

There were two problems, one is, as other mentioned, the fact that Win7 doesn't support INF installation by right-clicking, this however, didn't explain the devcon dp_add installation problem described in the original post, the resolution was to add the
following to the INF file, while this is not required when installing on Win8, IT IS mandatory when installing @ Win7
    [USB_Install.Wdf]
    KmdfService=WINUSB, WinUsb_Install
    [WinUsb_Install]
    KmdfLibraryVersion=1.11
I have spent half a day on hunting this down, having better logging information would greatly reduce the time it takes to resolve such problems, for example, By adding the name of the expected/missing section to the message "The
required section was not found in the INF"

  • GT70 - Win7 / Win8 BIOS - Confused + Questions

I tried posting this in the BIOS forum but I didn't get any responses. I'm not sure if I should have posted here first.
I have a GT70 Dominator Pro 890. It came with Windows 8.1 preinstalled. I don't want Windows 8.1; I'll be blanking the hard drive and installing Windows 7.
Since this computer has separate Windows 7 and Windows 8 BIOS's available for download, this leads me to think that I need to change the BIOS from the "Windows 8" version to the "Windows 7" version. But there seems to be conflicting information on the Internet about this. Some posts say you can and should do it, others say you can't and shouldn't do it.
    So, my questions are:
    1) Should I be changing / flashing the BIOS from the "Windows 8" version to the "Windows 7" version for running Windows 7, and
    2) If not, should I continue to upgrade with the "Windows 8" BIOS version, even though I'm running Windows 7, and
    3) Will Windows 7 have any issues or not run right since the computer is running the "Windows 8" BIOS version?
I *am* using two SATA drives in mirror RAID mode.
The other thing that confuses me, is how (even for each Win7 / Win8 BIOS version), there are again two different versions.
In the case of the GT70 Dominator 890 Pro, there is a version "50" for "WIN8 Default AHCI Mode", and version "70" for "WIN8 Default RAID Mode" (and a version 30 and a version 10 for the same two modes for Windows 7).
Wouldn't the Default AHCI mode or Default RAID mode be something that the user specifies in the BIOS? Why would there need to be a totally separate BIOS version for these two different modes? (I thought RAID already has AHCI enabled?)
Having four BIOS versions for the same computer is pretty distressing considering that I might brick it by installing the wrong one.

    Hi,
Is there a way to suppress Compatibility warning box while silently installing SQL Server 2008 Management Studio install on Win7?
    Thanks,

    Hi Kugler,
Even I was facing the same issue. It is because you may pending reboots on the target machine.
I also used the cmdline as below:
    <PATH of EXE> /Q /IACCEPTSQLSERVERLICENSETERMS /ACTION=install /FEATURES=SSMS,ADV_SSMS /HIDECONSOLE
Before installation it is better to restart the target machine and start with the installation.

  • Version 11.1.2 Install on Win7 VM

    Hi,
I successfully installed the Hyperion stack on my WIN7 VM on my mac book pro. I then configured it, hooking it up to MS SQL 2008 Express also running on the win7 VM.
Everything seemed fine. HOWEVER - when I open up EAS, and try to connect to the localhost essbase server, it cannot connect. I'm using the correct server name and correct login details. It's as if the server isn't running, but it appears to be as the service is running when I check Task Manager.
Is there some "secret magic" that I don't know about that needs to be done?
I'm experienced on the application side, but I'm a complete novice on installing and server side of things, so please forgive my ignorance in this field.

PS I've started all the services using the "start.bat" file in the bin directory.

Thanks John and Tim.. TIM - You did some work for us when I was at Sun Microsystems. You did the StarOffice add-in, you would have worked with Michael Everest. We were in the same team, he was the server guy and I was the essbase guy. I think V9 almost killed him! It's because of him I never had to get involved in an Install and all it's many delights, plus we were on Solaris back then, which brought it's own issues,
TIM/JOHN - I guess then that just because it's worked on Tim's win7 laptop doesn't mean it will work on mine...... I was hoping it would be something relatively obvious and simple. I guess not. :-( I even did a fresh install of Win7 64bit, got it all updated and everything. I was so excited when it all installed and I was able to configure. Imagine my heartache now :-( VERY frustrating!!!!
Anyway, on the off chance, below are the logs from essbase and shared services.

  • No Protection Tools! I have enabled enhanced security. This is Acrobat XI on Windows 7 64-bit. Did same install on a Win8 server and it's fine.

I just want the protection tools to show on the Tools dropdown! So I can use them...

    Hi Sara,
Thanks for putting me in the right place. I'm not much of an
    online-community person!
Here's what happened after your email:
    1. I went into Acrobat and clicked the down arrow as you described. I
previously had been clicking in the View menu. I saw the Protection
tools and I was so excited.
    2. So then I clicked on "allow multiple panels open" whereupon the
Protection tools disappeared! They did not reappear when I unclicked the
    "allow multiple panels open".
    3. Remembered that I hadn't reinstalled the updates after reinstalling
Acrobat in hopes that would fix this problem, so I installed the
    updates. I'm now on 11.0.07.
Sadly, still no protection tools appearing in either the View-> Toolsets
or the down-arrow in the upper-right corners of the Tools panel. Bummer.
This is so strange, since the same installation worked great on our Win8
    server!

I'm thinking of putting RC1 onto a Presario Desktop PC that came with XP and was built in 2006.
Has anyone done a full install of Win7 RC1 onto a PC that originally came with XP (built in 2006 or earlier)? I'm curious what the experience was like.

What drivers did you have to go looking for - if any?
    Thanks for the help.

Please post rather than send me a Message. It's good for the community and I might not be able to get back quickly. - Thank you.

I've loaded Win7 RC1 on a HP dv8000 notebook that was built in mid-2006.  It seems to have gone ok except for the sound board problem.  There is effectively no sound.  If you turn the volume all the way up, you get very very low sound.
I had this problem when I moved from the original operating system XP to Vista, but I can't recall the solution and haven't been able to find a working driver yet.

  • Re-install after win7 reformat

I have LR5 working on my Mac with no issues.  Was also working just fine on my PC Laptop until this week.
I have to reformat re-install Win7 due to some corruption issues.  I did a screen grab of the LR5 serial (with last four digits appearing as ****, that was helpful ).  I was able to grab the serial off my Mac installation with last 4 digits populated.
When I attempted to re-install LR5, the installer is complaining the serial number is not valid.
Do I need to re-register LR5 first - how does one do this AFTER a reformat of Win7?
    Suggestions?

Same version of Lightroom on the Mac and PC? Both versions are running Lightroom 5?
Do you have any records anywhere of your Lightroom serial number? Did you save the CD and box it came in, or if you downloaded it, did you save the e-mail that provided the serial number? (... and if not, maybe you might want to consider developing a method to save your serial number for all software ... just a little friendly advice ...)
If you registered your product with Adobe, you should be able to log in to the Adobe web site and obtain your serial number there.
And if that doesn't work ... I dunno

The serial number is what determines the version of PS CS4 that is installed on your machine.
It is impossible for PS CS4 to install the 64 bit version on Windows XP 32 bit machine.
If you have a 32 bit OS machine PS CS4 will only install the 32 bit software.
If you have a 64 bit OS machine PS CS4 will install both 32 bit and 64 bit software.
Don't forget to install the .exe file installer file as Admin. Run the Disk but choose to explore the Disk. Find the PS folder and open it and right click on the .exe file and Choose to run as Admin.
Turn off Windows defender prior to install. It is also better to turn off Adobe reader if it is installed (better yet, remove it) as it has caused PS CS4 install problems in the past for some unknown reason.
To avoid problems install PS CS4 on C drive.
Like I wrote above the serial number determines what is installed, not the Disk. You will know if you paid for the extended as it is almost 1 grand (the upgrade is cheaper).
If you feel that you purchased the extended version but only the standard version installs you need to contact Adobe. Tell them hey, here is my receipt for Extended but the serial number you gave me is standard. This has happened before but nobody ever posted back saying the problem was corrected.

  • Xi-fi fatality pro not installing on Win7

)Xi-fi fatality pro not installing on Win7 I'm done. 7 hours trying to install a **bleep**ing sound card. Ridiculous. Before any one suggests, I've tried the Pax drivers, the KX drivers, some beta drivers, swapping slots, uninstall, clean drivers, safemode, killing a chicken - Nothing. Creatives crap drivers will not detect their own card, even though Everest has no problem telling me what card I have. HD Audio device is what I get. And even then I have no sound and the orange connecter seems to be a S/PDIF jack.
Creatives own PID hotfix will not even detect it(how lame is that). No matter what I try, and I've tried everything on these forums (and elsewhere) short of a format and re-install - and I'm not doing that for a ****ed sound card.
This is not a plea for help. I've availled myself of all the help here and elsewhere (at least the search function works). Thanks to everyone who's helped others and as a result tried to help me as well. But creative's garbage will not work on my system.
I remember my old Audigy 2 was a pain in the ass, I should have my head examined for even considering Creative again.
Oh well. I hear ASUS is good. I'm just sorry I wasted my time with this piece of crap.

-sorry to hear about your problems, I had the same thing happen to me in the past, in my situation the problem was fixed by removing the card from the system and cleaning/polishing the contacts on the bottom of the card with the eraser you find on the back end of a normal pencil...
best of luck with whatever you choose... creative is F'n many of us using Win7....

  • I Tunes will not install on my Win8 laptop. is there a fix?

Im having alot of trouble getting ITunes to install on my Win8 Dell inspiron. The install gets right to the end and then fails.

If there is it probably requires doing so in compatibility mode.  Try searching Google to see if anyone has looked into this for Windows 8 or even an earlier version since it likely a question for earlier Windows versions as well.
