Search for FPGA boards ( VI_ATTR_MODEL_CODE )

I used the "Visa Find Resource" and the VI_ATTR_MODEL_CODE to search for a specific board. VISA resource names are no longer supported to connect to a RIO device. Instead the RIO Resource should be used.
I have customers that have different types of boards (PCI-7831 and PCI-7833) simultaneously in the computer.
1) How can I get the reference to the correct board or how can I check which cards are installed?
2) What is the VI_ATTR_MODEL_CODE of the PXI-7831R?

Hi Mr Rychen,
I don't really understand what you said when you say "VISA ressource name are no longer supprted..."
I run the attached VI and could see the ressource description of my RIO card on my computer.
Can you try this VI and check if it works on your computer.
Can you send me the lsit of the software that you have on your computer?
Have a great day.
Regards.
Matthieu

  • Live Update down for AMD boards?

Ok it has been down for a week now and I don't know why :( Support is just asking me to reinstall... But the problem clearly isn't in my setup.
Here is pic of how many drivers can Live Update find for me.
Here is the info that Live Update shows to my mainboard.
When I search for AMD boards in Live Update it gives me zero results (at least for all AMD K8 boards), but Intel boards shows just fine.
MSI could you please fix this problem soon?

Sigh... Yet another web drama queen.
LOL He will be back when he has a real issue. We give the best tech support on the web but we can't contol MSI's own website that contains Live Update and their drivers.
I guess some folks never will get it.
Or does he still think that I work for MSI? HeHeHe
Sorry didn't notice at first that this was a USER 2 USER forum...
Won't be back here after this post since I have no need for tech support (can manage my self).

Boy you would think if he is having so many problems that he would download everything manually and update it that way.

Don't you think that I have installed the drivers alreayd?...
I only posted because they have a bug in their system and it seems that they don't know it themselves.
I already issued this problem to techsupport, but they just asked me to reinstall (even when I said that I had done that allready)...
Gave them a bit more info and hopefully they will understand that the problem is in their servers.

Sounds just like what was happening with my Alum MB. I took it in and they replaced my battery. It seems to be ok now. I don't know what it is, but my battery was fine before 10.5.6 and the same timeframe of the firmware updates when they came out.
My battery health was jumping around but was fine before all of this happened. Unfortunately at 381 cycles I don't think you have much chance of getting the battery for free. Perhaps you can complain about the battery saying it was fine until 10.5.6 or whatever. Not sure when your computer was made, but perhaps you are eligible for this program: http://www.apple.com/support/macbook_macbookpro/batteryupdate/

CODE WARRIOR Hello. I believe this question was answered in a previous post. Please let us know if you have any new questioins or if you need some clarification.
You are able to develop device drivers for your custom hardware using the NI Measurement Hardware Driver Development Kit.
However, it is not possible to use custom FPGA boards with LabVIEW FPGA. The FPGA boards have to be one of our R Series boards. Here are some links that should shed some light on the Measurement Hardware DDK.

  • DE FPGA Board not Connecting

I am using DE FPGA board with NI ELVIS II, and LabVIEW 2012. I have searched in the Discussion forum and got the latest driver software (5.2) for the board.
But when I start running my FPGA VI , after successful compilation and generation of Bit file (after synthesis) the error message shows "Communication cable is not detected"
    What is the problem?

    Thanks for your reply,
But I have already got the problem solved.
I don't know how, but one day It suddenly worked!!  then I tried the same procedure in another computer, there also it worked.
I think, the problem was that, the previous version of driver was installed in my laptop, after I have uninstalled it, the device worked!! I am really surprised with the procedure !! But It happened !!

    Hi
I made a small code which helps you achieve this functionality.
    Hope it helps!
In this code: I read from "toplevel_gen_xst.log" file generated for the project; search for the string "Device utilization summary" and extract the part of interest Now you add this extract to your report compiled using report generation toolkit.

  • Officejet 6700 error while searching for updates: 'Printer could not connect to server'

I recently purchase the Officejet 6700 Premium. While setting the printer up, I received the error 'The printer could not connect to the server.' I first received this while the printer was searching for updates. I later received the same error while trying to set up ePrint from my computer.
The printer is connected through my wireless router. All other print services function normally. It is connected to the network, and I have printed several times over the wireless network.
Though I don't think it matters, since the on-board print set-up gave me the error, I run Windows 7 64-bit on my computer.
    Thanks for any help!

What is the IP address of the printer?  What is the make and model of the router that you use in the wireless set up? Is the router firmware up to date?
I would first try power cycling the router and the printer. Turn off/unplug the router and then power down the printer. Then plug the router back in and wait for it to be fully up and functioning before turning the printer back on.  After you have both pieces of equipment back on and functioning attempt to connect to web services again.
If still having problems I would attempt to set a static DNS on the printer through the embedded web server (EWS) by entering the printer's IP address into the address bar of  a browser on a computer.
Once that computer displays that page click on the Network tab.
Then look in the column to the left and find the Wireless section
    Click on IPv4
Then on that page look at the 2nd section that is labeled DNS Address configuration
Change the radio button to the manual option
Then for the manual preferred fill it out and make sure it reads 8.8.8.8
Secondary should be set to 8.8.4.4
    Then hit Apply
Read the next screen carefully. That message with the "OK" button below it  is one that states to click that button to undo the changes you  just made.  Just navigate away from that page by clicking on another tab.
Then reattempt to connect to web services.

  • How to search for a message or thread with a known message ID in forum?

How to search (or "swich") to a thread with a known ID ? The "Search
Message" yields no results when searching for a message ID. Is there a
other proper way for referencing a thread or message?

If you want to keep the threads for yourself, you can use your favorites menu or the site's bookmarks option.
If you have to transfer the number to some one else, the URL format looks fairly simple -
    http://  forums.ni.com/ni/board/message?board.id=board number\name&message.id=your number.
if you enter the same board, you will have the board number. This doesn't look like a particularly convenient way, but I don't have a problem with copying and pasting URLs.
The other option would be to do a search, but that is not guranteed to give you an exact answer.

  • AMs and PMs - how to search for small-caps?

In my book I'm proofreading I have a mixture of (because I was undecided when I was putting it together):
    i 7.00 a.m.
    i 7.00 am
    i 7.00am
I ran these three options past about twenty people this morning, 6 voted for the first, 8 voted for the second, 3 voted for the third, and 1 person and myself voted for the option I can't show properly here: small-caps: 7.00 AM. Then of course there was the wag who told me: "Why don't you just say '7 o'clock in the morning' "? And the complete ratbag who suggested, in the interests of avoiding confusion: "7.00 am o'clock in the morning before lunch at 0700 hours."
Before I make them all the same format, which will very likely be small-caps, I want to make sure I can easily search for them so I can replace with an alternative style if I change my mind again later on.
QUES: How do I search for "AM" and "PM" (spaces before and after) if they are formatted in small-caps? I can't use paragraph styles because the AMs and PMs appear in a variety of styles already.

Thanks for all the hints. I'm going to try some of them to see how they work. I should make it clear though (my original post may have been unclear about this) that I was asking how to search for AM in small caps AFTER I had changed all time-formats to that form.
As for why I asked for input: I treat my book a bit like a democracy and give people a chance to vote on certain aspects and make comments just in case they have a good idea that I hadn't thought of; but yes, I'm the boss, and in terms of votes mine counts for 95%. In this case, someone suggested using a colon -- which I have taken on board. So I will be using the time format 7:30 AM to see how it looks. But if I don't like it, I want to be able to find all the small-cap AMs and change them to something else in one go.
My interest in time-formats has stirred some interest locally. My partner proof reads a walking club magazine and she received the latest edition lat night. She has never concerned about time formats before, but after my foray into different options, she came up with the following variety (the club has lots of reports that include times when walking trips start and end), even though she thought she had done a thorough job of proof reading:
    9 am
    9.00am
    9:00 am
    9:00am
    9.am
    9 AM
    9.00a.m.
    9.00 a.m.

    * Try to find an answer by reading the manual.
    * Try to find an answer by reading a FAQ.
    * Try to find an answer by inspection or experimentation.

  • Nokia 2275 error: Searching for service.

I have a Nokia 2275.  A few days ago, was unable to receive texts.  Came to this website and someone recommended factory reset.  Now I can't do anything on my phone and it says searching for service.  Anything I can do?
Moderator's note: The subject was edited as the post was moved to the correct board.

    Hi Bridgette,
Sorry to hear that. Are you seeing the "searching for service" when turning on the phone? Have you tried to remove and reinsert the back cover, battery, and the SIM of the phone?

I am working for a company in the transport sector, we found a iPod on board, but nobody reported a lost one. Where can I search for the owner?

    Michnael,
If the number of clients that used your service is small, you could contact them directlyn. Be sure to use a non-leading question ("Did you receive all of your goods?"). If you ask, "Did you lose an iPod? We found one, and don't know who it belongs to", most peopel would reply, "Ahhh, sure, that's mine." If that doesn't work, contact Apple. Too, I'm sure your company has had stuff unclaimed before - how did they handle that stuff?

  • Provide a probing output for our board

    Hello everyone,
In Comsis, we have FPGA based Wi-Fi devevelopment platforms that are our own design, namely MimoKit and MimoKit-II. Until now we used in-house methods to probe signals in these platforms but recently we received an inquiry for a probing output that is compatible with a 3rd party software such as LabVIEW. Never having used LabVIEW (or any other data acquisition software) we do not know where to start and I would be grateful if someone can point us the direction.
In a nutshell, what we are planning to do is, to stream 8 multiplexed channels, each of 32 bit data, via ethernet. We don't know how LabVIEW demultiplexes this data and interprets it? How should we proceed? (Here is a platform description http://www.comsis.fr/?p=167)
Thank you for all the help in advance
    Best regards

    Hello again,
I'll try to rephrase my question. We have an FPGA board which we use for developping WiFi solutions. Our work includes the analysis of raw (or processed) observations of WiFi signals as well. At the moment, when we want to analyze a signal, we simply store its values for a period of time and then we analyze the stored data (off-line).
In addition to that, we would like to provide a real-time observation/analysis ability in LabVIEW on a host PC. The communication between the board and the host PC will be handled over ethernet port. But we don't know how to proceed to make LabVIEW "understand" our real-time data. Our questions are:
What are the components needed for a device (eg: our board)  to communicate with LabVIEW? What is the streaming data format? how many real time channels can be supported? How to feed multiple channels to LabVIEW?
We use Quartus to develop the FPGA code.
Thank you in advance for your help.
    Best regards

  • FPGA Board CCA 193426B-01L

Trying to find a complete User Confirguration File (UCF) or a schematic showing the mapping of the Spartan chip pin outs for the FPGA board devices and I/O.
Several years ago, at least 5, the Philadelphia School District purchased the NI FPGA Boards that actually went unused until recently and are now being integrated into a Digital Electronics (DE) Course that will include the FPGA Board in various DE projects.  To fully utilize the I/O and devices on the board itself we require User Configuration File data and/or a circuit schematic that will identify pin out connectivity from the embedded Xilinx FPGA to the various devices on the board (example Rotary Switch).  Some of the data is included in information we were able to find or already had (e.g. http://www.ni.com/pdf/products/us/cat_defpga.pdf,http://www.ni.com/pdf/manuals/372809b.pdf, http://www.xilinx.com/support/documentation/user_guides/ug385.pdf), but our information is incomplete.  A complete UCF or a schematic showing the mapping of the Spartan chip pin outs to usable devices on the board and its I/O pins/ports would greatly facilitate use of the board in our classroom projects.
I may be contacted directly via the email above or, you may reach the school and ask for me or Mr. Scott Koehler, Engineering Technology teacher, please see the attached link for the school: http://carver.phila.k12.pa.us/
We currently have ten (10) of the NI FPGA boards, which may at this point be dated, but still quite usable for school purposes.  We would like to integrate these boards to introduce students to FPGA technology, and will expand the equipment base and course breadth as we get the course content established.

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Fernando,
    Greatly appreciate your responsiveness.
We will be using Multisim, and have it installed, as part of the DE Course, but we also want to teach students using C-Language/Verilog/VHDL a variety of tools, and the JTAG programming port directly, and want to be able to direct I/O from the Spartan FPGA to a variety of devices on the CCA or connected externally.  So, I guess we want to get under the hood a bit, teach the tools comparatively, and complement Multisim usage, which is a great tool.
This board is a few years old, I am not sure if it is the current version or still in production.  Is there a complete UCF or a schematic that will identify Spartan pinouts to CCA devices and I/O?  What we are doing is updating, expanding the course and integrating the FPGA (that has gone unused until now) and other devices.
We have ten of the FPGA boards now.
