What is the point of securing a file without request ?
You'll have to ask the people who created it.

Adobe would call that hacking, and don't allow discussion of it in this forum. You should contact the copyright holder and see if they are prepared to release the password, or an unsecured document, to you. If it's something made for you like a bank statement you should tell the bank how inconvenient their choices are.

  • ISSUE OPENING SECURE PDF FILE

    Hi
I am unable to open the link in the secure pdf file after entering the password. It says to double click the link to view the content in it but nothing happens when I double click it . Please help.

Hold the Control key and click it. It should open in a browser window... or pop up a warning about Reader trying to connect to the internet. Click OK and it should connect.
If it doesn't, the link is "broken" and there's NOTHING anyone here can do about that. ONLY the author can fix the link.

  • Error message opening secure PDF file

I bought a secure water marked PDF file and am unable to open it on my computer.  I get an error message saying, " There was an error processing a page.  Wrong operand type."  I'm able to download the file and open it on my Android cell phone, but if I copy the same file to my computer or download it directly from the website I get this error message when I try to open it.  I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Acrobat reader, but I still get this same problem.  Does anyone have any idea of how to fix this?  I can open other PDF files, just not that one.  I even tried using the repair Adobe reader menu option and still get the same problem.

Sounds like pdf file is corrupt. Reader on your computer may be less tolerant of corrupt pdf files, since a corrupt pdf file can be used as a vector for a virus or malware attack.

  • Secure PDF file problem

I have a problem with Illustrator when I save my work as a pdf file to send to my clients. The pdf file appears to be OK so I save and close the file. When I open the file again, the file is blank. At first I had a client keep telling me my pdf files were blank!
Now I have to save and close the file without password protection then open it again in Acrobat Pro and add password protection. Is this a bug in the CS3 suite?
This seems to be happening since I've started on Mac Pro, OS 10.5.1. Never had a problem on my old G4 and 10.4.1.

Ken, I'm having a similar problem.
I built a series of PDFs using InDesign. I exported them as JPGs, then converted them to PDFs (a personal preference). Everyone could open the files just fine. As a last-step to secure our data, I added some security settings, sent out the PDFs again, and everybody opens them fine except for one individual, who opens them only to find blank white pages.
He then removed the security features from the files I sent him, and the problem persists.
Have you gained any ground with this issue?

  • Acrobat 9.5.1 Crashing when printing secure pdf files

Had this problem with all versions of 9.0 or later, updated in hopes of it fixing the problem. Acrobat just stops working when I try to print secure files. They work fine on machines with older versions of acrobat or reader though. I've tried going to Preferences/General to turn of Certified mode but it's enabled Yes is greyed out and does not allow me to change it.

It will start to send pages to the printer, showing the Progress bar but then it will Stop Working.

  • Where do I input my code for redeeming free copy of Mountain Lion? I have received it (with this secure pdf file) but in Mac App Store see only function "Buy". Where do I input this code to get my free copy?

Anyone also knows why this update is so ridiculously weird? Snap your bill, send us picture - looks so in contrary to Apple's core principle of simplicity! I'm very disappointed.

My guess would be to open the AppStore, then in the QuickLinks panel on the right of the first screen you should be able to choose Redeem to redeem a code.

  • Can I open an encrypted pdf file from Dropbox with my iPhone, iPad, or iPad Mini?

Mac OS 10.9.3 encrypts a pdf file using Acrobat XI, then sends it to Dropbox.  Mobile device retrieves encrypted file from Dropbox.  Then can mobile device user open (unencrypt) the pdf file?

George, you wrote something that encouraged me to try to encrypt a PDF document again using the security icon on the menu bar of my old Acrobat 8 Professional. It worked this time (it wouldn't encrypt on my first try, and I wrongly assumed that it wasn't compatible with Maverick OS).  I dropped document into Dropbox, retrieved it with mobile devices; and when I tapped on the document, it simply asked for the password and opened perfectly. When moving to a different screen, then back to the secured PDF file, one must re-enter the password again (which is good).
As far as what PDF viewer -- I don't know.  I have the Acrobat Reader APP on my devices, is that the reader the document is using??  I've never figured out which APPs are running at any particular time on these devices.
Many, many thanks for your reply!!

The best way is to apply a digital signature to the file. Any other way can
    be manipulated quite easily.

  • Opening pdf files encrypted with private *.p12 key (ANDROID)

    Hi,
I was curious if acrobat reader will be equipped with this functionality?
I have secured pdf files signed with private *.p12 certificate key.
I have installed certificate in Android settings, but I still pdf files won't open. It's says this functionality is not supported.
Is there anything I'm doing wrong? This is SHA 256 something. In other pdf readers it says secured with "adobe.pubsec"
Please respond,  I'll provide any details You want.

Currently we are not supporting this functionality with Reader on Android.
We have noted down your request and will try to incorporate the same in future releases.
    Thanks,
    Adobe Reader Team

  • Why can't I open some Pdf files with Acrobat Beta?

I am using Acrobat.com Beta, and I don't have too many problems with converting to Pdf files, but opening some files that are already Pdf is does not work.I am told to download them ,and afterwards Itry to open them without success. Is there an answer out there?

I'm sorry you're having trouble.Special PDF files such as PDF portfolios or secured PDF files or password protected source files cannot be previewed on Acrobat.com.
Please note that not being able to preview a file should not interfere with the successful viewing of the file once downloaded.
Are you able to open and view PDFs on your desktop? What happens if you try to download the file from Acrobat.com in a different browser?

  • Cannot open the file attachment because your PDF file attachment settings do not allow this file type to be opened.

I think this issue may have been posted elsewhere, but I have tried all solutions offered with no success.  I am attempting to open a Link within a secure PDF file when I receive the error above. I have made registry changes and verified the trust manager settings. Is there anything else I can do?

You should be able to check by opening the Attachments panel on the left (paperclip icon) and looking at the file extension.

  • How can I edit a secure pdf?

I was sent a secure pdf file and asked to complete the information on each page.  How can I do this?

Secured doesn't necessarily means that you can't fill in the form fields.
Did you try to do it? If you can't then you need to report it to the file's
    authors...
