Sender File Adapter is not reading anything

Hi,
I have a really strange problem here. I'm tyring to read a file using file adapter (FTP) and the adapter doesn't read anything and it does not throw any error in the communication channel monitoring.
I'm using a receiver file adapter to write files to the same FTP folder, so it can't be a connectivity problem. And I tried to get the file using Filezilla and it works fine...
In the sender file adapter I tried to simplify the maximum to solve the problem:
- NO File Content Conversion
- NO advanced attributes
- I used the "*" in the file name to read any file
- I've only configured the FTP connection, the folder and the file name. I don't understand why it isn't working...

Yes I got this message:
Polling interval started. Length: 5,0 seconds
Now I tried something... In the FTP Connection parameters, I set as the server a random and unexisting name, and I get the same result...
I'm starting to thing that some firewall is blocking the connection, but I have to wait until next monday to know this. But I don't understand why the receiver FTP channel is working...
PD: The cache is correctly refreshed because I changed the polling interval time, and it has been updated on the monitoring

    Dear all,
Sender file adapter is not polling the file.(But Receiver file adapter is getting the file)
    we have installed SP15.
It was worked fine for previous SP14.
I have cheked in Adapter monioring also.
Can you help me out of this problem
    Regards
    Dhanabal

    Hi Dhanabal,
Is the XI system running on a unix machine ?
If yes, from the OS level for the folder you are using in the file comm. channel, execute the command
    <b>chmod 777 <folder_name></b>
The reason for the file to show up in receiver side and not get deleted might be that the xi user mighht be having only read access to the folder...
    Thanks,
    Renjith.

  • Sender file adapter is not picking the file from windows server

    Hi Experts,
We have a sender file adapter running on Unix server. Now we have changed the source directory path from Unix to Windows in file access parameters.  It is not picking the files from windows directory and not showing any error.
In this scenario, input file for sender adapter is *.xml and no content conversion.
Could any one please let me know is there anything needs to changed in file adapter.
    Thanks in advance,
    Sridhar. M

    Sridhar,
What do you have in the directory path?
If it is a shared drive in unix then the directory in windows should also be a shared drive from XI system. Else if it is FTP check the address.

  • Sender File adapter is not picking up file

    Hi,
I am usning the sender file adapter to process a file through FTP. Adapter does not pick up the file, however it recognise the file, as it appears in the error message. Below is the text of the error message:
<i>Could not process file '<b>filename</b>': com.sap.aii.adapter.file.ftp.FTPEx: 550 toSAP: No such file or directory.</i>
I am not sure yet whether this file is <b>read only</b>. Can read only file not be processed in FTP ?
    Thanks

Hi, I have the same problem. In advance, we can see in FTP Server log that CWD command it is called twice, for example :
    00:00:59 10.15.64.187 [4669]USER MDM 331 0
    00:00:59 10.15.64.187 [4669]PASS - 230 0
    00:00:59 10.15.64.187 [4669]CWD MDM_55600_MATERIAL_STD\Outbound\ESN_800\_MATMAS05\Ready 250 0
    00:00:59 10.15.64.187 [4669]CWD MDM_55600_MATERIAL_STD\Outbound\ESN_800\_MATMAS05\Ready 550 3
    00:01:59 10.15.64.187 [4669]QUIT - 550 0
If we create a directory MDM_55600_MATERIAL_STD\Outbound\ESN_800\_MATMAS05\Ready into the first directory Ready where it is positioned with first cwd , its works !!
First CWD is called for read file an seccond for processing, somebody knows because this behavior ?

  • How to: Sender File Adapter to dinamically read all subfolders of a folder

    Here is the scenario:
-Interface:  A file to file interface.
-Objective: The idea is to move files from a file server to another file server.
    -Master Source Folder: ...\OUTPUT\
    -Master Destination Folder: .....\INPUT\
    Interface example
    -Source Folder: ...\OUTPUT\INTERFACE1
    -Destination Folder: .....\INPUT\INTERFACE1
The idea is that the PI interface must read all the subfolders inside ..\OUTPUT\ and then move the files found to the corresponding folder in the target.
What we want to achive is to be able to add a new source folder i.e ...\OUTPUT\INTERFACE2 without having to modify the sender File adapter.
Actual status: Dynamic determination of the destination folder is already done, but source folders are statically defined in the sender file adapter.
Can this be done? Perhaps using a Bean Module or something?
    Regards.
    Mariano Billinghurst.

This is great! In the off chance anyone else is trying to do this, this is also useful if you have Papers and you want to switch to Mendeley. Papers keeps PDFs all organized by year and then author so the PDFs are all nested in subfolders. If you option-click the triangle next to the Papers folder, it will then show all the PDFs. Select All and then drag over the whole thing into Mendeley. I just imported my entire collection in under a minute. Glad I looked this up!

  • FCC Send File Adapter - missingLastFields not working

    Hi
I have a flat file to capture using the sender File adapter
    Parameter as follows:
    Header_fieldNames : Key,Name,StaffID,Telephone
    Header_fieldFixedLengths :  2,12,10,8
    Header_endSeparator : 'nl'
    Line_fieldNames : Key,Address,Company,LineText
    Line_fieldFixedLengths :  2,20,20,40
However there are times where last field come in missing.
    Hence I use the Header_missingLastFields : error
                              Line_missingLastFields : error
However it does not seem to be working as the adapter fails to pick the file from the FTP folder
but if I  replace error with ignore, the sender adapter picked the files and process and send to the receiver adapter.
I need to flagged error in sxmb_moni if last field or last few fields are missing....any advise how could this be achieve ?
    Regards
    Fred

    Hi Freddy,
I think you might like to specify missingLastFields = add. then it will add the missing fields as empty. you can further check if these are empty in mapping and then fail the message or create an alert.
If you specify "ignore" then you will not get those fields in your structure and if you specify "error" then the file will not be picked up.
    have a look here
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/2c/181077dd7d6b4ea6a8029b20bf7e55/content.htm
    missingLastfields
If the inbound structure has less fields than specified in the configuration then the XML outbound structure is created as follows:
    ○       ignore
Outbound structure only contains the fields in the inbound structure
    ○       add
Outbound structure contains all fields from the configuration; the fields missing in the inbound structure are empty.
    ○       error
Conversion is terminated due to the incomplete inbound structure. An error message is displayed

  • Sender File Adapter does not get files when there is a large number ( 300)

We are on XI 7.0 (SAPKB70015)
We have an issue picking up a large number of files from a particular server. We are trying to pickup the files based on a wildcard e.g. test
    - we can retreive up to 200 files from the same server (using the same config) no problem
    - we can pull lots of files (>3000) files from other servers (using the same config) no problem
    - we can write an mget command (mget test) to reteive the files no problem
So the only issue is retrieving a large number of files from a parfticular server. We see no errors in the RWB.
To get this sorted out we need to find the exact commmands that XI executes to attempt to retrieve the files. Can anyone point me in the right direction on how to find this.
    Thanks
    Richard

It turned out that this was caused by a limitation on the ftp server.
The file adapter uses the dir command to get a listing of the files matching a specific mask. The dir command does not return any files if there are a large number (the ls command works fine but the file adapter uses dir instead of ls).
sap told me that 'According to this FTP server is no compliant with RFC 959 and that is
why DIR command returns an error.'
We were able to get this resolved by applying a patch on the ftp server.
    Thanks

  • Sender File Adapter - Fixed Length

We have a Fixed File(Sender). With 3 fields. NO Header. Space is the separator for each fields

    Hi Naveen,
          Do check the following things,
    >>Note : I have been asked to give the Transport Protocol as "NFS" (Whether this is the problem???) I have summarized the complete details below. Please help me
1.If your file resides on your local network/local computer give NFS(Network file system). if your file resides on a FTP location give FTP and also give the FTP log on parameters.
    Additional Parameters
    File_MT.fieldFixedLengths 10,10,5
    File_MT.fieldNames VendorNumber,VendorName,City
    File_MT.fieldSeparator
    File_MT..processFieldNames fromConfiguration
2.If this structure does not match with the input file structure the file adapter wont pick up the file. So check for the help document provided by SAP in the following path.
    help.sap.com  --> Documentation  --> SAPNetWeaver --> SAPNetWeaver '04 --> English --> process integration --> SAP Exchange Infrastructure --> connectivity --> Adapters --> File Adapter
           Your file contains three records
    V123456789 A123456789 Bosto
    V234567890 B123456789 Atlan
    V334587900 C123456789 Austi
You have mentioned the fieldSeperator as space but there is no File_MT.endSeparator '/n'  which differentiates between each and every row (record).
Parameters for Record set Structures mentioned in the sender adapter configuration does not match with the actual file structure .
Try giving exact structures in the configuration of sender file adapter.

  • SENDER FILE ADAPTER (FTP) ERROR

    Hi,
Iam getting the following error in sender file adapter:
Could not process due to error: com.sap.aii.adapter.file.ftp.FTPEx: 550 *** ERROR *** NO BATCHES FOR TRANSMISSION
Could anyone help me in this.
    Thanks &Regards,
    Kiran

    Hi Kiran,
This problem is not related to PI but rather related to FTP server settings.
Try changing the name of the file in your adapter settings to a string without any dots and ".
Try this and let me know if its successful.

  • Getting File Name (Sender File Adapter )

    Hi EveryBody,
I need to capture only the the FileName in to the outbound xml that is present in the filepath of XI server.
    I checked:
    Adapter Specific Message Attributes:
Checked box on --> 1)Set Adapter Specific Message Attributes
                                 2) File Name
And my dt IS OF TYPE :
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <MT_DMS_FINAL>
       <Header>
          <FileName/>
       </Header>
    </MT_DMS_FINAL>
Now i put the File into the path , i donot need any content of file in XML , only needed the file name.
i tried above config and it says mapping error, but i test it"s running good with the test tab.
i guess file picked up by Sender file Adapter is not matching witj the outbound interface ?? is it so ?
advice. i see in the sxmb_moni that only the content not in xml structure is displayed.
    srini

Refer to the blog that i asked you to go thru. It has no input fields. It accesses the file name through the Dynamic Configuration. Provides the same as output. Its just a java function without any input parameter. Create an UDF and deleted all the arguments(even "a").
    Code:-
    DynamicConfiguration conf = (DynamicConfiguration) container.getTransformationParameters().get(StreamTransformationConstants.DYNAMIC_CONFIGURATION);
    DynamicConfigurationKey key = DynamicConfigurationKey.create("http://sap.com/xi/XI/System/File","FileName");
    String ourSourceFileName = conf.get(key);
    return  ourSourceFileName;
Oops sorry, i guess i forgot to provide the blog link. Anyway its here:

  • Sender File adapter not picking the file ABCD.PRN extension file

    Hi
Am doing File to Abap Proxy scenario. My source will be in text format of fixed length of fileds 7.
My souce file will be generated by a third party machine with the extension EEE150809.PRN. In my scenario my file adapter should pick the file and update the same in ECC via a Proxy.
I have configured the Sender File adapter with Message Protocol -  Content Conversion but file adapter is not picking the file. I have checked the Communication channel and status is fine. But the same Communication Channel works for .XML file.
What are the parameters that I have to consider with the file extension .PRN using File adapter?
    Thanks.
    S.

    Hi Swarna,
You dont need to worry about the extension when picking the file. You can try using EEE* so that is picks all the files starting with EEE. If you have the fixed name then you can try giving EEE150809.*. Also EEE150809.PRN should not have any issue. Try to see in sender commu ication cahnnel for anyerrors. Probably there might be some network issues or authorisation issues. If you are reading with NFS then ask them to give necessary permissions. If you are reading through FTP check the user id and pwd you are using.

  • Sender File Adapter Not Showing in Decentral Adapter Engine

    Hi,
We have recently implemented a Decentral Adapter Engine on a windows box. The adapter engine seems to be working fine because my adapters show and seem to work fine in it.
However, when I define a Sender File Adapter that uses File Content Conversion message protocol instead of just File messaeg protocol, the adapter does not show up in the decentral adapter engine.
I made sure that Adapter Engine parameter in the Sender File Adapter shows the new adapter engine but that does not seem to be working. If change the Adapter Enginer parameter to show the Central Adapter Engine, then I can see the Sender File Adapter on the Central Adapter engine and it works fine. (Note: The Central Adapter Engine is installed on a Unix box)
Here are the paramters I defined for the Sender File Adapter:
    - Transport Protocol: File System (NFS)
    - Message Protocol: File Content Conversion
    - Adapter Engine: (new Adapter Name)
    Source Directory: (
    server/drive/path)
    File Name: purchaseOrder.txt

    Purchase_Record.fieldNames: Request_Action,Request_PO_Num,Request_PO_LN,Request_PO_Date,Request_Purchasing_Org,Request_Purchasing_GName,Request_Created_By,Request_Vendor_Name
    Purchase_Record.fileContentFormatting: trim

    Advanced Mode: (not checked)
    Your help is much appreciated.

    Hi Alaa,
    look into this document:
http://service.sap.com/nw-howtoguides -> Exchange Infrastructure -> Troubleshooting: Adapter Engine 3.0 (Expert Call slides)
If the File Adapter works without conversion, then you should count the number of fields in a row. If it differs from the configuration, then it runs on error.
Another idea is to check the content type of the file. When you do not enter a File Encoding, then the file adapter assumes utf-8. If the file is for example latin-1, then the number of characters in a row are not counted correctly.

  • Read uniquely named file. Sender File Adapter unsuitable for synchronous

    Hi All,
We have a requirement to read a specific file that has a unique name based on a transaction ID. The transaction ID will be passed from the source application.
The communication is required to be synchronous. There could be multiple requests/files generated and present at the directory at any given time but each corresponding to a specific transaction ID. If the file is not yet generated for that transaction ID we return back an error to the calling system.
I think we can not use Sender File Adapter - because of the dynamic naming and also because we have to return a synchronous response back depending on the file availability. i.e. We can not have a defined pattern in the file name nor can we specify a wild card as there could be more than one files in the location.
In theory we could use the File Sender adapter to read all the files in the directory and a BPM with correlation set based on the transaction ID and let the process wait for the request. But as far as possible I want to avoid this unnecessary wait or extra demand on the system. More so because the files could get big.
If I were using a tool like SAP Business Connector or webMethods then I would I used a readFile Java service and given it a filename to return the required bytes in a synchronous read.
Is something like this possible in XI? If someone has written a synchronous Java to read file can they share the code? Or do you suggest I write a ABAP server proxy to read the file?  The problem however will be how do we map the data to a XML within the code.
All suggestions welcome. There has to be a simple and effective solution to this mundane requirement !
Wishing all SDNers a bright start to this new year,
    Thanks,
    Charu

"The transaction ID will be passed from the source application so we know what file to pick"

    Hi,
You could make the scenario a little simple and avoid custom development if the logic can be put into scripts(out of XI).
Say all the files are coming into a directory called D1.
Here, you could use a script to arrange all these in an order (say ascending) and move the first file into another directory D2.
The sender file adapter would poll this directory D2. The adapter can have a wild card character for the filename field now.
Once the file is in XI, you could check this against the transactionId present(I am not sure how you get this though!), and determine whether to send a mail, or to send a file back.
Here, I have assumed that there is somekind of order present in the files placed in the directory D1.
Again, this is just a suggestion.. I might be wrong with all the assumptions.
    Regards,
    Smitha.

  • Sender File Adapter - No error, but not generating any message

I am working on a file to RFC scenario.  The sender file adapter is using content conversion to read a comma delimited file.  The file is being picked up and archived correctly, and the adapter monitor does not show any errors.  However, the process disappears at this point.  I don't see any messages in SXMB_MONI, and there is no sign that the process is reaching the RFC adapter.  Has anyone ever had this happen before?
I have four line types for Buildings, Additions, Floors, and Rooms.
I list all four in the recordset structure, and I identify a key for each with the keyFieldValue parameter.  I list a fieldSeparator of ',' and an endSeparator of 'nl' for each row.  And i have a list of the fieldnames in the fieldnames parameter.
The only thing i'm not sure about is the keyFieldinStructure parameter.  I have specified ignore there, because I don't want that field in my XML.  Do I still need that field in my sender datatype, even if I'm ignoring it, or can I leave it out?
Thanks for any help.  Please don't just list blogs unless they have something you think is helpful with my specific problem.  I have already read all of the blogs that deal generally with the sender file adapter and file content conversion, and I need more specific help at this point.

I made one error before, it IS showing up in the Recovered Adapter Audit Log (it took that log about 10 minutes to open that particular tab so I didn't notice them there).

  • How to count the  number of files read through  sender file adapter

    Hi  ,
I have a scenario where I am reading  files from a third party system and trying to send those files to R/3 system .The frequency is 1 file per day .But there can be situation where  the source system can put  2 to 3 files in source folder and so XI sender adapter will pick up all the 3 files at time . And I want to send only 1 file at a time to r/3 .
Do you know any way to handle this requirement ?
    Thanks ,

    Hi,
Like Bhavesh pointed out, you could EOIO as the Quality of Servie in the sender file adapter.
But I guess this would solve your issue only to a certain extent.
Marking this QOS in the sender file adapter would only mean sequential processing of the files. That is, the second file will be sent only when the first file is successfully received by the end system.
It would not ensure that the files are sent only after 15 mins of the first file is sent.
If the 15 mins time period is important, then this needs to be achieved using a BPM which ensures that the messages are sent to the target only every 15 mins.
In case, the frequency of the incoming files is not known (in which case, the having a BPM would be a bad idea) you could use a ztable, which stores the filename and time the file was sent to the R/3.
You could query this table each time, before sending the file data to the R/3
    Regards,
