Sequence Audio Is Quiet Help

I have digitized Beta SP footage (the project is all SP) into a project, my second on Final Cut Pro for a long time AVID user. The audio plays fine in the Viewer, but is silent in the sequence. I didn't have this problem in the first project I cut. The AIFF files I imported don't have this problem and I tried "reconnecting media" and that actually helped one clip. The silent audio is showing -96 db in the sequence. I brought it in at 16 mono, 48 kHz and 24 bit integer. Stereo monitoring is L & R.
It doesn't seem to matter if the audio came in with or without video.
Thanks,
Mitch

Ok here is what I found, besides Pro Tools and AVID are different again, it looks like the default import is multiple tracks and so even though I think audio is coming in on 2 it came in on 4. Something new to look for. Thanks.

Just discovered this nifty little bug myself today. Boy, Leopard is really bug city, I'm definitely regretting the upgrade. I was glad to find the 'show in mailbox' trick, although then once I went to re-send the message, it duplicated it for some reason and sent it twice, so now my business contact thinks I'm a moron because I sent him this super large attachment TWICE thanks to moronic Mail.app.
Another interesting thing though, is that after finding the email via 'show in mailbox' and opening it, it actually displayed the MP3 attachment as the old Tiger quicktime player (w/progress bar) as opposed to when I first composed the message and it would only display it as an icon. I thought they had just removed that feature for some reason, but nope! Another bug!

  • How to change sequence audio preset?

in my browser, my FOOTAGE audio rate is 48khz/audio format 16-bit integer. but my SEQUENCE audio rate is 48khz/audio format 32-bit floating point.
when i go to adjust the sequence settings to make my sequence 16-bit as well, it says it is 48khz/16, but that doesn't correspond to how the sequences are in my browser. when i try to add new sequences, it adds them as 32-bit instead of 16 still.
    any ideas?

Your sequence will show 32bit floating point as it's functionality. Why, I don't know...others here may.
If you open a sequence, then go to MainMenu/Sequence/Settings, you'll see that the settings there should be 16bit depth.
    That should be correct.
Are you having issues with anything, or simply determining what's up?

  • Nested Sequence Audio Problems

    Hi all,
Progressing with FCP and experimenting with doing things differently, I am trying to take advantage of being able to nest sequences so that the minor changes I make to these individual sequences automatically update in the large, full sequence in which these various scenes are nested. It's great.
However, I have encountered a couple of different problems with audio. For instance, at various points, when I am playing the full sequence (the one containing nested sequences), audio drops out completely (though only briefly). At other times, an audio track that I have faded out pops back on for no reason.
Does this ring a bell with anyone?
    -Cyrus

I have never really had any luck nesting sequences in FCP. When I first bought FCP, version 1, I was sold on the premise that FCP has about 90% of what After Effects has in it. It does not. FCP is a video editor and not really designed to nest sequences like a AE. I like Motion because it can render internally in FCP instead of AE that requires you to render to a media file and then import that into FCP. I hate to tell you that you compositing is something best reserved for a dedicated compositor. Doing it in FCP will only make you cry.

    Hi there,
You're running an old version of Safari. Before troubleshooting, try updating it to the latest version: 6.0. You can do this by clicking the Apple logo in the top left, then clicking Software update.
You can also update to the latest version of OS X, 10.8 Mountain Lion, from the Mac App Store for $19.99, which will automatically install Safari 6 as well, but this isn't essential, only reccomended.
Thanks, let me know if the update helps,
    Nathan

  • Help, please: Sequence audio won't play - 'pinked' out.

    Hi FCPeers,
I'm (hopefully) winding up a two week system reformation - storage backup, initialization, reformatting, partioning, installation - well, the whole 9 yards in order to run my creaky but workable FCP 3.0.4 on OS X 10.2.8 the way it was meant to run (NOT on 10.4x!).
Anyway, I'm sure my question must be a no brainer for the more experienced, but in my current Project I have two Sequences, a Title Sequence and the Sequence of the film, itself. I did this to keep rendering times down on my low end machine figuring that I'd "splice" the two Seqs together (believe me, I'm looking at a Mac Pro solution in the hopefully not too distant future).
Now, I cut both sequences so that the Title audio tracks segues seamlessly into the tracks of the second Sequence, such that the overlap can be lifted or overwritten (only two channels among the four tracks actually cojoin). To do this I found a moment of silence with no video between the two Sequences, but in order to test, today, I tried copying both the video and audio of the "Title" Sequence to the "Movie" Sequence (and vice versa!) Everything plays as it should EXCEPT for 3 adjacent segments of one of the (four) audio tracks. Can't hear 'em. They show up pink in the Timeline and are just not heard. I went back and rendered the pink segments individually - still no sound from those portions of the track. I fiddled with the Channel designators, switching this and neighboring tracks between Channel 1 and 2 to no avail. I'm sure I'm doing something wrong. Could it be that because the tracks in the two Sequences have the same name that they default to toggle one of the tracks off at a lower level? The developers anticipated this because of the pink tint to the track. If this is explained elsewhere, I apologize for being lazy and not searching harder to get a clue.
Thanks in advance for any HELP!
    All the best,
    David

    Michael,
Thanks. I haven't mixed down the audio or checked the number of tracks in Prefs. Good points.
As far as a mixdown goes, I'll definitely give it a try, though I wonder whether or not the tracks will be recognized during mix down recording - given that you can't hear either of those segments in playback. Just have to try.
Re the preferred number of allowed tracks - I'll go check as soon as I send this off, but I'm not sure that applies in this case, since the two Channels containing the segments that are pinked out are not in additional tracks. I should have mentioned that other audio clips and segments on the same Channels in the SAME tracks ARE heard in playback. As are two additional track in the 2nd Sequence. It's only when the two sequences are joined that the pink tinted segments can't be heard. Within the sequence the same audio cuts playback as they should. Thanks again &
    Best regards,
    David

  • Multi-Camera Source Sequence Audio from 1 Speaker instead of both??? HELP PLEASE!!!

So I have been at this for awhile now. Am I missing something?
I simply take my 2 .MOV's and 1 .WAV and I create a mulit-camera source sequence. Except when I play it from my time line and it appears in my program pane it only plays the .WAV from one speaker...
If I break it apart and load the .wav from the timeline into the source pane using keyboard shortcut "F" then it plays through both speakers..?
Attached is a screen shot of the broken down Mulit-Camera Source Sequence by clip.
    Please help me, thank you!

I just tried that, although it still plays out one speaker when I play it in the timeline, either out or in the nest.  It appears that the timeline has an audio setting that is off perhaps? Or a bug? I have attached many images to check out... Thank you advance!

  • Audio echo. every two hours my audio on all my sequences echo. Please help!

I am currently using final cut 6.0.3
This just started happening. I tried trashing the preferences as well. The weird thing is that the audio goes back to normal and back to echo whenever it wants, or so it seems.
    thanks

Well, I am VERY particular about keeping my electronics MINT. I have never not used a protective case and I have to say it is almost heart breaking to imagine the scratchs my Touch will have on that shiny back after just one day without a case...........but I am desperate. I must say I really do love my Touch. It is my 15th Media player and beyond all comparison the best Media Player I have ever owned and I am willing to do whatever is necessary to remedy this situation and be able to use my Touch as intended once again.
What gripes me the most is that I paid premium price for this iPod Touch and it has virtually no Tech support. It baffles me. I had ONE tech support phone call available within 90 days and I used it on the first Touch so now I can't phone tech support , you cannot e-mail tech support , my only option is to place a service request and send it to AppleCare and you can't give a decent description of the problem even then because you are limited to 200 characters and I am damned tired of sending it back and forth. Is it really so hard to offer decent Tech support for these $400 and $500 Media Players? Dozens of other manufactures manage to do it so why can't Apple? They've got an AMAZING product , why not give it AMAZING support? Thats all I'm saying.

  • FCP or Compressor Audio Problem - Please Help!

    Please Help!
I have completed my wedding project in Final Cut and it includes 4 extra stereo tracks (music etc) on the Final Cut Time line, therefore 5 stereo tracks in total. Music was just imported into the browser and then placed according in the time line.
When I export the whole project to Compressor, the video compresses fine into the DVD best quality format but the audio compressor has only compressed a SEGMENT of the FIRST stereo tracks?!
Totally Bizarre.. My client is waiting for the DVD and I’m at total loss!!
Desperate workaround (but want to avoid) If I have too i tried rendering the whole movie to a QT movie, then importing that into DVD Studio and just using the audio from that (which is ok) in my DVD project! But I don’t want to do this as I have not properly compressed the audio along with the video in the DVD best settings preset in compressor.

No I don't think so.. I use Switch to convert the .whatever files into .aff compliant files. Something has obviously go a miss somewhere during my edit, I just cannot think where. I did ask before if there was anyway to check for compression markers as the orginal problem seemed to be rendering just only a section of the audio. I did a clear markers control+' which clears markers on the timeline but not sure where that leaves compression markers. As I imply, I didnt deliberately saet any compression markers but maybe some crept in there?
Also I found it odd why SP pro originally came up with just "Error" when I tried to export the project to it? I tried a fresh sequence with a small amout of video on it and it exported fine into Soundtrack Pro (SP).
Additional question: What is the purpose for the mix down in the Sequence settings then? I seemed to do the trick for me? Should I include this in my work-flow because it is not always necessary to use Soundtrack Pro just for laying down a music bed?
    Thanks

  • Multicam source sequence - audio offset does not work when syncing via audio

Working double sound with Canon 5D footage and syncing via audio is a big help, but the camera sound is one frame ahead of the video.
Merge clips requires each v/a clip pair be selected individually AND can't be slipped after merging - so that's no good.
Create multi-cam source sequence works a treat AND offers an audio offset BUT that does not appear to work when syncing via audio (I understand why you might think we wouldn't need it but...)
    Unlesss I'm missing something?

I have the same problem. Syncing video via audio in multicam works perfectly on my 3 cam shoot but audio offset does not work. Had to do that on the sequence timeline afterwards.

  • Image Sequence, Audio, Edge Animation - it's all there in my app

My first DPS app went live last night.
    (Yay me.)
Now look into my eyes; you will like it. Don't resist.
Why? Well, it's free. And free is good, we all like free. It has fun drawings and interactivity. It makes use of many DPS components including an image sequence that looks like an animation, audio, HTML5 canvas tag, and an Edge Preview animation.
What's even better is that Adobe has asked me to make the components available in the DPS cookbook. You can have it all and use it in your own DPS apps. So while I get all the files ready for that, download the app from iTunes - so far only iPad - but I will publish for Kindle Fire and Android presently.
Leave any comments or questions with this thread so we can all benefit.
It is a Spanish-Language alphabet learning application called Todas la letras.
    http://itunes.apple.com/app/todas-las-letras/id540437129?mt=8
I have built a site which has some of the HTML code and a description of how I built it
    www.milibrodelasletras.com
So far, 10 downloads. 2 from Mexico, 1 each from Argentina and Columbia. Gracias, Suramerica!
And thanks to forum users who helped me along, espcially the Bobs.

I haven't figured out the refresh rate of the iTunesconnect analytics - so far, just the 14 downloads mentioned above. So I would safely bet that you are the first downloader from Down Under (too clever?). In fact, here at Dan McSweeney Digital Publishing Corporate Headquarters we'd like to name you our Australian ambassador. I'm going to have accounting send you a Speedo, an orange cap, and a Glock. The intent of this app was to get Australia speaking Spanish, bwah hahah, it's working.
Glad you liked the image overlay "animation." Credit for that idea is due Colin Fleming. And if you are handy at all in After Effects, it's not difficult to export an animation to a jpeg image sequence - AE even sequentially names the files for you. All of this will be detailed when I post the project files. Meanwhile anybody can ask me questions. (Like I'm some kind of mad expert in this, right?)
Writing a sparkling review of the app on iTunes is, by the way, part of your duties as ambassador.

  • Sequence audio format stuck on 32-bit Floating Point

    Hi,
The audio format for all my sequences is set to 32-bit Floating Point when I check them in the browser's Aud Format field. When I manually change the format in the sequence settings nothing changes in the browser and choosing a new sequence set up doesn't seem to help. What I don't understand is that there isn't even an option for 32-bit Floating Point in Audio Settings. Anyone else experience this?
    I am using v6.0.6 on osx 10.5.8
    Thanks,
    Tom

16 bits per channel equals 32 bits stereo. Floating point means that you can, but don't have to, have a non-integer value for your audio.
