"Server Admin" tool does not have proper listing of SMB Share directories

I've been stuck on this one for a while and am looking for any thoughts/help on how to unstick things.
BACKGROUND
I have an SMB share that works (about 10 users banging on it). There are lots of subdirectories to this share and all is fine. The share location is /Users/myshare and I can browse to directories that have the effective path of:
/Users/myshare/mydir1/subdir
/Users/myshare/mydir1/subdir2
PROBLEM
The problem is that Server Admin simply has lost some of the "subdir" directories. It just doesn't think they exist anymore. Specifically, when going into the Server Admin SMB panel under Share Points, I can select my sharepoint and Browse the directory structure.....I might see myshare/mydir1/subdir2 and subdir3 and subdir5, but Server Admin just won't see "subdir1" or "subdir4".
I have checked permissions, and "subdir1" and "subdir2" are identical. I have re-applied permissions and even run mdutil -E on the volume.
Does anyone know any what to force Server Admin to re-index it's listing of a sharepoint???

I ended up filing a formal bug through Apple on this one, as there was definitely and issue with something on the share and how permissions were propagating and Server Admin was pretty much worthless at browsing the share (and setting permissions).
The solution was painful, but basically involved: (a) Cloning the internal server drive and booting off of that. (b) Booting off the external clone, then deleting the entire /Users directory on the the original internal (c) cloning back to the internal drive (thereby replacing the /Users directory). Somehow this re-wrote permissions from scratch and fixed whatever corruption was stuck in the way.

  • SCVMM 2008 R2 - "The SQL Server service account does not have permission to access Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS)."

I know this question has been asked before, but never for R2, that I can tell, and the posted fixes aren't working. I have just installed SCVMM 2008 R2 on a Windows Server 2008 R2 server, using a remote SQL 2008 SP1 database. When I attempt to connect to SCVMM, I get the following error:
"The SQL Server service account does not have permission to access Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS).
Ensure that the SQL Server service is running under a domain account or a computer account that has permission to access AD DS. For more information, see "Some applications and APIs require access to authorization information on account objects" in the Microsoft Knowledge Base at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=121054.
    ID: 2607"
What I've seen online is that this is usually becuase the domain account SCVMM is running as does not have the proper permissions on the SQL database. Here's what I've confirmed:
    1) My SCVMM service account is a local admin on the SCVMM server
    2) My SCVMM service account is a dbowner on the SCVMM database in SQL
    3) My SQL service account is a dbowner on the SCVMM database in SQL
    4) My SQL service account is a domain user (even made it a domain admin, just in case, and it still "doesn't have access to AD DS," which is obviously untrue)
    5) Neither service account is locked out
Has anyone run in to this? It says in Technet that remote SQL 2008 is supported, as long as the SQL management studio is installed to the SCVMM server, and I installed and patched before I began the SCVMM installation. I just don't know what else to try - I have no errors in event logs, no issues during the installation itself...

That answer was very unhelpful fr33m4n. The individual mentions that they've received the error that points to the KB article. I currently receive the same error -- there seems to be no resolution. I've run the Microsoft VBS script to add TAUG to the WAAG
as suggested by 331951, and that made absolutely no difference.
    1) My SCVMM service account is a local admin on the SCVMM server
    2) My SCVMM service account is a dbowner on the SCVMM database in SQL
    3) My SQL service account is a dbowner on the SCVMM database in SQL
    4) My SQL service account is a domain user (even made it a domain admin, just in case, and it still
"doesn't have access to AD DS," which is obviously untrue)
The user is also a member of WAAG, the machines have delegated authority to each other. Is there any other solution?

    Folks,
    Hello.
I am installing PeopleTools 8.53 with Oracle Database Server 11gR1 and OS Oracle Linux 5.10.
Data Mover Bootstrap and Application Designer can log into Database instance successfully. My procedure to run PIA is below:
Step 1: start Oracle Database Server and LISTENR is listening.
Step 2: start Application Server ./psadmin and 8 processes are started.
Step 3: start WebLogic Server PIA /opt/PT8.53/webserv/PT853/bin/startPIA.sh
In Browser, http://192.168.196.102:8000/ps/signon.html comes up successfully. But when sign in using UserID PSADMIN and password "myname", I get the error message in Browser as below:
The application server is down at this time.

I think the error is indicated in TUXLOG file "ERROR: Jolt client (ip address 192.168.196.102) does not have proper application password". The application password "myname" in Browser http://192.168.196.102:8000/ps/signon.html page is not working. I use the same password "myname" to login Data Mover Bootstrap mode, Application Designer, and Application Server psadmin configuration successfully. I have tried a few other passwords in Browser http://192.168.196.102:8000/ps/signon.html page but not working.
    My question is:
How to solve Sign In issue on http://192.168.196.102:8000/ps/signon.html that is "ERROR: Jolt client (ip address 192.168.196.102) does not have proper application password" ?
    Thanks.

    Dear Nicolas,
Hello. I have used the same password for "DomainConnectPswd" in the file Configuration.properties with that for Application Server setting. Eventually, UserID PSADMIN sign in http://192.168.196.102:8000/ps/signon.html successfully. PeopleTools 8.53 runs correctly in Browser.
It seems that whether upgrade Oracle Linux 5.0 to the latest 5.10 does not have effect !
I am very grateful to your great help for this installation of PT8.53 with Linux and Oracle Database !

  • This log in user does not have proper rights to use WebCenter Capture

    Hi experts,
We have WCI 11.1.1.8.0 setup. It has WEC configured. However when I login with "weblogic" user. This is domain admin user. WEC allows user to login and shows top navigation bar. However in the body it shows below message
"This log in user does not have proper rights to use WebCenter Capture"
I am sure i have not gives a proper group/ role to this user. I am not sure which one is that.
    Regards,
    Vikrant Korde.

    Hi Vikrant,
This happens if user is not in Capture Application Role.
    Check this:
    Log in to EM
Right-click the capture_domain, select Security, and then Application Roles
In the Application Stripe field, select capture, and then click the Search application roles icon to display the Capture application roles.
In the Capture User add this weblogic.
    It will work now.

  • File Does Not Have Proper Content

    Hello,
I'm working on rebuilding a project file after some knucklehead at work deleted many of the files in the project (don't worry, the person is still alive).
After re-transcoding and re-synching all the files (interviews, to be precise), most of them have been able to be re-linked fine, even when the attributes of the clip have changed slightly.  One of them, however, is being grumpy
When I try to reconnect it to the file, it says:
"The file does not have the proper content to reconnect to 'clip name' at timecode x in sequence y."
Is there any way to work around this?  I don't understand why all the other clips, some of which changed much more between their original versions and the new ones I've made, were able to be relinked when this one refuses.
    Any thoughts?
    Cheers,
    BWP

You may have to simply reimport and cut the material into the sequence.
This may be faster than trying to finesse a reconnect.

  • Admin Account does not have Admin Privileges

    Here's the story
    iMac 20" Aluminium
One of twenty for a school lab
Customised one from scratch, fresh OS install from accompanying disk set, installed all applications, ran all updates for OS and all applications, repaired permissions before and after.
    Admin account in place, obviously.
I log in as admin and can open most applications. I cannot, however, open System Preferences.
I am told "Admin does not have permission etc". I did not set up a root account, and didn't really want to at this stage as it has not been necessary before.
Anyway, as access to System Preferences was not possible, I started up the iMac in target mode and booted my Mac Mini from the iMac OS. I could then log in as admin and access System Preferences.
In Accounts I created a second account which I called Admin1, and gave it admin privileges.
I repaired Permissions (twice) again. Disk Utility worked under this Mac Mini log in, but did not work when logged in directly on the iMac.
I logged out, shut down, detached the firewire cable and started up the iMac. It allowed me to log in using the new Admin1 account, but I still cannot access System Preferences. It is not connected to a network, as I have experienced Admin issues in the past when servers seem to interrupt some processes, because they have an Admin account too, of course.
I really do not want to go through the process of installing dozens of applications again (it's for an art lab, so has everything, with a full install taking six hours).
Has anyone experienced this weirdness and, more importantly, figured out a way to fix the problem.
I have been so careful with this configuration and have no idea what could have happened.
    iMac details
    2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    2 GB 667Mhz DDR2 SDRAM
I cannot even open the More Info part of "About this Mac"..
    I'm stumped. Help...
    Thanks in Advance
    Tony

    several things you can do:
+ run terminal, type su and login as root, if not configured yet type sudo passwd enter your passwd and then enter your root passwd, then chmod 777 to system preferences application folder, or
+ open system preferences > account > give your account permission to administer system, or
+ show input menu to be show on login menu, logout, then login to OS X as root, then open account preferences again and use parental control to grant system preferences to be access and modified by your administrator account. REMEMBER remove the root option from login menu after that, to avoid other brute force your root password from login menu.
hope useful. if you have further question about your problem, don't hesitate to ask...

Can anyone point us on how auto-publish works and what all permission is required by users or owners?

    Hi Goahh,
It might be that your issue has nothing to do with the rules set to auto-publish the project. Try to inactivate the auto-publish for a test project and try if the publication by itself works. Or simply try to publish a project from MS Project Pro and see
if you still get the error message.
    Has it been working before?
Check also that the "Manage SharePoint Foundation" permission is enabled for the security groups in question.
    Hope this helps,

  • OBIEE Admin Tool does not allow to modify any object

    Hi,
I have this strange problem. I have OBIEE 11.1.1.6.2 client installed on my PC. I am trying to update RPD objects in offline/Online/MUD(I tried all three) mode but the Check Out button is greyed out for me. No matter what changes I do into Tools --> Utility, it stays greyed out. I have reinstalled the Admin tool again and but problem persist. I have admin rights on PC so privileges can't be an issue. From connection pool I can view the data or update the row count but can’t add/delete/modify anything else.
Any idea what’s wrong here? Any pointer for further research.
