Server Monitor shows "CANNOT_LOAD_BUNDLE_ERR"

I took the plunge and brought home a new Mac Mini Server yesterday to 'practice' on before deploying in our small business. I (think I) got through the setup fine, then wanted to connect from my remote mac (sitting 2 feet away on the same wireless network) using Server Monitor. Regardless of whether I add the server by IP Address (10.0.1.24) or name (My-Server.local), the status summary reads:
CANNOTLOAD_BUNDLEERR
I can see in my Airport Utility that my AEx Dual Band has reserved 10.0.1.24 for my server.
Baby steps, and this is my first one. Thanks in advance for any help.

Ensure you have the most current Server Admin tools version loaded, and - if you are running Server Monitor directly upon the Xserve box - then you can look to select the localhost (127.0.0.1) path, and ensure that the [LOM is correctly configured (HT2773)|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2773] and the correct (obscure) [Server Admin installation sequence (TA21516)|http://support.apple.com/kb/TA21516] depending on which version of the tools you're working with. The Server Admin tools are also unfortunately rather sensitive to correct DNS configuration, correct static IP addressing, and to correct LOM configuration, and some of the errors can (obviously) be obscure.

  • Server Monitor says "CANNOT_LOAD_BUNDLE_ERR"

    Hi all,
    Any server admin around?
    On my freshly installed 10.7.3 Server I can't get the "Server Monitor" runing properly.
    It doesn't show any information (except of IP and log) while Server Admin and Workgroupmanager are working fine.
    Log says "Failed to contact server" in both cases, runin' on the server itself and runin' remote on a management client.
    Any suggestions welcome
    TIA
    Bernhard

    I'm having the same problem.  Were you able to fix it?

  • Server Monitor shows blank locations after update

    This a refurb xserve 2.8 single processor, 16 gigs of RAM, no raid, LOM firmware 1.1.2.
    If I reset LOM to "factory defaults" and erase and install Server OS 10.5.4. LOM shows the various locations under "Memory", "Drives","Power","Network", "Temperature", and "Blowers".
    As it should.
    However once I upgrade the OS to 10.5.7 using the "combo updater", Server Monitor no longer displays any locations under Power, Network, Temperature, and Blowers.
    I have deleted the plists for Server Monitor and the BMC cache file but still no locations.
    I have gone round and round with this and have been able to duplicate it. It seems to hinge on the 10.5.7 update and updating directly from 10.5.4.
    I have found if I install the Server Admin Tools 10.5.6v1.1 after the combo 10.5.7 update then Server Monitor displays correctly. I can then install the Server Admin Tools 10.5.7 and have full functionality of Server Monitor.

    OK, I get it..... You need a Lights Out Management port to run Server Monitor, and there's no way to set that up on our little experimental Intel Mini running Snow Leopard Server.
    So this shouldn't be an issue when we install Snow Leopard Server on our production Xserve 8-core Xeon. Good to know.

  • Server monitor : my turn

    Like other people, i would like to manage my xserve remotely (like the advertisement promise).
    ===
    configuration :
    * xserve 1.1
    * os server 10.4.10 (8R2218b)
    * LOM Revision 1.2.7
    * only one ethernet port used,
    * in the etc/hostconfig, the hostname is -AUTOMATIC-
    * i did not configure the LOM initially (because i did'nt ask for a specific ip adress dedicated for LOM at this time). My provider gave me then a specific adress for LOM on the same subnet.
    * dns and reverse dns for the server and LOM are configured by the provider and work fine,
    * I configured the LOM like 'defor' advised in his Aug 22, 2007 post in
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=940740&tstart=0
    * I did shutdown/disconnect/reconnect power/power on.
    ===
    Problems are :
    1) malfunction of server monitor localy (via vnc)
    Server Monitor shows Name = localhost, IP=127.0.01 : is it ok ? .
    It gives informations about the hardware but :
    = i cannot write email adresses into the "edit notification panel". The "Add" button remains grey.
    = the "restart button" doesn't work... "Failed to contact server".
    2) no remote server monitor.
    From my Mac book Pro (localized French)
    I notice that in the list : 'Nom' is empty and 'Adress IP' is correct (writing the IP or the name) and the status remains 'Attente de reponse'
    3) ipmitool
    ipmitool -U [myLOMadminaccount] -H [LOMIP] chassis power status
    ask for password,
    wait 3 seconds and return nothing (the prompt)...the same for others commands
    but "sudo ipmitool -v -v user list 1" gives well the 2 accounts (1 ADMINISTRATOR, 1 USER)
    Thanks in advance for your help.

    Happy news from my system :
    I went to the data center yesterday to try different configurations of LOM but first applied the Xserve Firmware Update 1.0.
    A "power off/disconnect power cord (and ethernet cable, why, not ?) dance " and bingo :
    1) Server monitor on my MacBook connects to the xserve,
    2) I can add an email notification,
    3) i can restart the xserve from my laptop.
    But... it's not complete...
    The history log shows (translating from french) every x minutes : three times 'unable to contact the server' then 'connection lost' then, after few seconds the update time is refreshed as the elapse live time of the xserve in the "infos" panel :
    Is-it a real update or a fake ?
    To be sure (silly question ?), is it possible to simulate a xserve problem in the scope of server monitor (and test the notification by email) ?
    Admin server has the same problem : connection lost after x minutes

    How do I uninstall SyncMate Server, Activity Monitor shows it still there after appzapper uninstall of SyncMate app? Killing in AM proceeds with a SyncMate Server startup again??
    Mavricks, MacbookPro, typical config of everything and standard business user, no heavy graphics, animation or media editing. MS Office, web apps, etc.
    I have the same issue with Logmein, which I installed a trial, uninstalled with appzapper, which I thought does a good job of untangling the components of apps but for these 2 it doesn't.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thx,

    Usually applications like these have their own uninstallers, either build into the installer ( ! ) itself or as a separate uninstaller app. Check the site of the software provider for instructions.

  • Server Monitor is showing no information

    I have a Apple G5 Xserve running 10.4.11
    I monitor it remotely via Server Monitor tools
    Today the entry for this server was showing no information at all
    There is the IP address in my list - then a black disk next to where the name of the server normally appears, but no name.
    Then a Black disk with a ? in it in the "status summary" field, with no green dots.
    If I ARD to the remote server and run the Server monitor tools locally using the 127.0.0.1 loopback address. This shows exactly the same locally as above
    Anybody have any clues as how to resolve this? - Just re-installing Server Administration tools package?
    I'd rather try and understand whats causing it first, than just blindly re-installing packages.
    Any help would be appreciated

    Hi
    Is the daemon associated with Server Monitor running? It's called hwmond. You should see its presence either in Activity Monitor or via the command line using the "top" utility. You may want to read this:
    http://www.manpagez.com/man/8/hwmond/
    I'd also look at the log and see if anything unusual pops up around the time it stopped working.

  • HOW TO: Relay/Send email from websites, Server Monitor in OS 10.5 Server

    If you don't want to run your own mail server or configure DNS on your Xserve, but you still want your website or applications like Server Monitor to send email notifications; this is what you need to do:
    Scenario: Mac OS 10.5.2 Leopard - Advanced Configuration - Setup is for strictly sending emails through SMTP, routed through your ISP or another provider. This is not for receiving emails.
    -Open up Server Admin
    If you have yet to add in a server to admin, you need to do so. Resource PDFs on setting up OS X Server are available at Apple http://www.apple.com/server/macosx/resources/ and there are video tutorials at http://movielibrary.lynda.com/html/modPage.asp?ID=373
    -Click on your server, then choose the Settings button
    -Then choose Services from the Tabs/Buttons below
    -Select the Mail checkbox and then hit Save
    -Now choose the newly added Mail service in the left pane, then click the Settings button up top
    -Start with the Advanced tab. Under Security, un-check everything and don't use SSL unless you want to. You don't need to mess with the other sub-tabs here.
    -Next choose the Logging Tab. Under SMTP log level, choose debug so you will be able to see what goes on in the log.
    -Mailing List, Quotas and Filters tabs can go untouched. You can mess with them later if you want.
    -Click the Relay tab. It is a good idea to only accept relays from your local machine. If you uncheck this, I believe it leaves you with an open relay that anybody can access.
    -Now for the General Tab. Under Domain Name put anything you want. Any made up name and extension is fine.
    Under Host Name, again put anything you want.
    Un-check Enable POP, Un-check Enable IMAP - Basically un-check everything
    Check or leave checked Enable SMTP
    Now check Relay outgoing mail through host:
    Then enter your hosts SMTP server. ex. smtpout.secureserver.net
    Now check Authenticate to relay with user name: and enter your username and password
    -Now hit the Save button
    -Now we need to take a look at the main.cf file and add a few things
    -If you aren't showing all files in Finder already, open up Terminal.app
    Now type in: defaults write com.apple.Finder AppleShowAllFiles True
    Hit enter
    Now type in: killall Finder
    Now Finder should reset and all files should be visible - To hide all files, do the same thing but type False
    -Now open Macintosh HD and navigate to /private/etc/postfix/main.cf (Note: you won't be able to open and edit this in TextEdit. I recommend a program like TextWrangler http://www.barebones.com/products/textwrangler/download.shtml )
    -Once you have main.cf open, all your settings should be together at the bottom of the doc. Scroll down. You will need to add in a few lines and verify all the settings are exactly as below (except of course your own names and SMTP server):
    readme_directory = /usr/share/doc/postfix
    mydomain_fallback = anything.anyting
    messagesizelimit = 0
    myhostname = anything.anything
    mailbox_transport = cyrus
    mydomain = anything.anything
    mailboxsizelimit = 0
    enableserveroptions = yes
    inet_interfaces = all
    relayhost = smtpout.secureserver.net
    smtpsasl_passwordmaps = hash:/etc/postfix/sasl/passwd
    smtpsasl_authenable = yes
    smtpdsasl_authenable = no
    smtpsasl_securityoptions =
    smtpduse_pwserver = no
    smtpdrecipientrestrictions = permitmynetworks,reject_unauthdestination,permit
    smtpdpw_server_securityoptions = none
    -Now save the main.cf document
    -Now go back to Macintosh HD and navigate to /private/etc/postfix/sasl/passwd
    Open passwd with TextWrangler or you editing app, and verify that your SMTP server, username and password are correct. It should look something like this:
    smtpout.secureserver.net [email protected]:password
    -This should be what you entered in Server Admin when you first started. If all is well, quit your editing app.
    -Now, while you are still at /private/etc/postfix/sasl/passwd you need to edit permissions for passwd
    You can chmod in Terminal.app or secondary click on passwd and "Get Info"
    Click the lock and enter your password to unlock the settings
    Next click the + button and add yourself and Admin
    -Now you can close out of everything and go back to Server Admin
    -Hit the Reload (twisty arrow) button at the bottom and once everything is reloaded, hit Start Mail
    -Now type localhost in your browser to see if your website can send email. You can also open up other apps such as Server Monitor and do something to change the status to have it send an email.
    -You can click on Mail in the Server Admin and then view the SMTP log. As long as emails are being sent and then removed from the queue, you are in good shape. If you are getting an SASL error or mechanism error, open up main.cf and verify your settings and/or check permissions on passwd file

    Don't you need the Mail service running to have apps like Server Monitor send email notifications? - Also for hosted sites that use the sendmail function you need a service running to get the emails sent.
    Really you are not hosting a Mail server. It is open, but there is no incoming and if you only accept SMTP relays from the local machine, there should be no issues.

  • Server Monitor doesn't see any sensors

    Hey,
    I inherited this Intel XServe and hot days like this make you take a closer look at the sensor data... all of which are invisible to SM.
    SM doesn't see power, temperature, and blowers. Their respective tabs show one entry under Location: None.
    I'm not using LOM but connecting locally via the loopback address.
    OSX Server 10.6.4, Server Monitor 1.8(5)
    Using 3rd party software like Temperature Monitor does read the temp sensor data fine.

    The way that Apple recommends for the Xserve LOM reset and reboot is to unplug the box. The LOM is an embedded computer riding atop the network controller, and always powered on when the chassis has power.
    For completeness, there's an ipmitool cold restart option for the bmc that might work, but (given the lack of documentation; Apple's recommended approach toward resets; this is a production environment; that haven't tried it) I wouldn't follow that approach.
    I'd also look at a network-enabled remote power switch for this environment. Cheap, and saves you the trip to the DC or the call to the DC staff.

  • Server Monitor error - "CANNOT LOAD BUNDLE ERR"

    I got 2 Xserve(s) intel based - 1 installed 10.6.8 and the other 10.5.8 - both server(s) are upto date on software updates.
    Server Monitor works fine on both of these server(s) when run locally (from the server). When I run the Server Monitor from my local machine (still in the same network), the server with 10.5.8 works fine, but the server with 10.6.8 shows the error "CANNOT LOAD BUNDLE ERR". I am not sure where I am making a mistake.
    Any help highly appreciated..:)

  • Server monitor broken after upgrade to 10.4.11

    I have a Macbook client which was running 10.4.10
    I also had the server admin tools installed to monitor approx 30 servers, some PPC, some Intel, OS's ranging from 10.4.7 to 10.4.11.
    I have upgraded my MacBook to 10.4.11
    The server monitor tool is 1.5f6
    Now using Server monitor I can only monitor 2/3's of my systems
    Lots of them are showing as "No Response" or "waiting for response".
    I have tried deleting/re-inserting
    I have tried earlier versions of the Server Monitor tools
    I have tried a Leopard client running 10.5 server tools.
    Also when I now go to any of the systems that I cannot monitor from my client, running server monitor locally (127.0.0.1) also shows "waiting for response"
    Can anyone help please

    I'm having similar problems and hoping someone has found a solution.
    I'm on Leopard now (10.5.1) and have recently configured SNMP so that I can monitor a server (MacPro tower). It appears that SNMP is working fine at the command line. For example, I can run a status easily enough:
    ra:~ administrator$ snmpstatus -c public localhost
    [UDP: [127.0.0.1]:161]=>[Darwin ra.local 9.1.0 Darwin Kernel Version 9.1.0: Wed Oct 31 17:46:22 PDT 2007; root:xnu-1228.0.2~1/RELEASE_I386 i386] Up: 0:24:37.39
    Interfaces: 6, Recv/Trans packets: 43993/43404 | IP: 44772/42918
    2 interfaces are down!
    However, Server Monitor simply keeps giving me this:
    1/27/08 12:42:48 PM: Failed to contact server
    1/27/08 12:43:00 PM: Failed to contact server
    1/27/08 12:43:12 PM: Failed to contact server
    I've also noticed a problem with hwmon, apparently:
    ra:~ administrator$ sudo /usr/sbin/hwmond
    hwmond will NOT run on this platform.
    Huh. Very peculiar. So, from what I can tell, it seems like SNMP is running and should be (probably is) responding, but Server Monitor is not getting in. I'm not familiar with Server Monitor, but one thing I noticed is that if I try to run an SNMP status without specifying an appropriate community, I get a similar result as Server Monitor:
    ra:~ administrator$ snmpstatus -c notARealCommunity localhost
    Timeout: No Response from localhost
    So, what community does Server Monitor use? Is there a way to change it? Is there somewhere that I can get a default SNMP configuration file that would work with Server Monitor?
    Any help would be appreciated.

  • Server Monitor Buttons Missing

    The Monitoring, Profiling and Memory Tracking buttons are all missing from the Server Monitor and it is not displaying any data. Where did they go? I'm on CF9/Multi-server and Windows Server 2008/64 bit. My CF server instances are running under a domain account so they can get to network shares. I'm using multiple jvm.config files to give some servers more memory than others. I've tried adding the domain account to the Administrators group, made sure monitoring, profiling and memory tracking are all enabled, and made sure the crossdomain.xml file is in the webroot.

    Well, first briefly, I've seen this happen (the start/stop buttons don't appear), where simply refreshing the page made them reappear.
    Assuming you've confirmed that doesn't solve it, here are some questions that may help us hone in on the problem:
    - does this happen on all the instances or just one?
    - you say you are on CF9. Do you mean 9 or 9.0.1?
    - Have you applied any hotfixes or cumulative hotfixes? (And I'd ask you to confirm that not from memory but from confirming by looking in the lib\updates directory. On Multiserver, that's \servers\cfusion\cfusion-ear\cfusion-war\WEB-INF\cfusion\lib\updates for the cfusion instance, or \servers\instancename\cfusion.ear\cfusion.war\WEB-INF\cfusion\lib\updates for any others (note change from - to . in the ear/war directory names).
    - Are the hotfixes there the right ones for the version you're running (not 900 in the filenames if you're running 9.01, or vice-versa)
    - When you say it's "not displaying any data", do you mean that the graphs on the front page are essentially blank? That would mean simply that "start monitoring" has not yet been enabled. When you say "no data", I'd want to make sure you don't mean that none of the screens show anything. There are many that show data even if there are none of the "start" buttons enabled, such as the Template Cache Status page (on the Statistics tab, in the "Request Statistics" section). Is that "displaying data"? Just trying to help clarify your situation.
    Also, just as a workaround until you do solve this, note that if you're on 9.01, you can now at least turn the buttons on and off in the CF Admin, something that's gone under the radar for many, it seems.
    Hope that's helpful.

  • "Enclosure Intrusion" error in Server Monitor

    My Server Monitor app is showing a "Enclosure Intrusion" error on one of my Dual 2GHz Xserves that I cannot get rid of. I've checked, unlocked, relocked, etc. as well as updated to Firware 5.1.7f1 per instructions from an Apple dude.
    No joy, any suggestions?

    I would guess the sensor on the front of the Xserve is faulty, its just to the left of centre if you open the case and slide the Xserve out.
    I have an Xserve that suffers from this too.

  • Server Monitor Issue-My Server Wont Stay in List

    Using server monitor on my G5 Desktop, or on the G4 Xserve is useless.
    The problem is that the server no longer appears in the list. When I add it, it just flickers on the list for a second, then it disappears. Does anyone know what could be happening?
    G5 Client: OSX 10.4.5
    G4 XServe: OSX 10.4.5

    I FIGURED IT OUT
    I had the "Show Warnings and Failures only". This is kind of stupid because you are not aware that the server is listed. I guess this makes sense from a server farm viewpoint. Maybe there should be a checkbox that says "Make all servers visible" or something like that.

    I can't get my G5 Xserve 10.4.11 to show up in Server Monitor 1.6.1 (2) running on my Mac Pro.

    In fact the G5 Xserve even shows up in Server Admin but I just get 'Waiting for response' from Server Monitor.

  • Server Monitor issues again?

    Just upgraded my laptop with 10.5.3 (client version) which I use to manage servers. Since the Xserve's running 10.4.11, I downloaded the separate server monitor version a while back that supports this after they broke it with the 10.5.2. upgrade.
    Now SM doesn't show any servers listed and then crashes. Anybody else having this issue? Is there a new version out?
    Wolfman

    I had the same problem. I upgraded both my client and my X-Serve to 10.5.3 only to discover that while Server Admin and Workgroup Manager were okay, Server Monitor crashed immediately when trying to connect. Using ARD, I copied the version of Server Monitor from my X-Serve that had been upgraded to 10.5.3 to my MBP and that solved my problem. I also copied Server Admin and Workgroup Manager down to my MBP as while they seemed to work, the version under 10.5.3 Server had different sizes.
