Server Name in FTP Connection Parameters
Hello
When I specify IP Adrress for Servername in FTP Connection Parameters it works fine. Is it possible to give Hostname or URL for the parameter servername. If this is not possible is there anyway that we could pass Hostname or URL instead of IP Address.
Thanks
Naga
Hi Naga
Hostname will work. just you need to take care about the DNS resolution of that hostname. If the host name is not resolved by DNS then it will not work
Thanks

Changing the server name on package connection string.
I have a connection string in a package which is a local connection string and not in project connection manager and isn't parameterize as well. Now I need to change a server name of the connection property without using editor. Can I do that and how ?
Moyz KhanI agree about using configuration for connection string but unfortunately this is an inherited project/packages . And my task it to make these run as currently I don't have luxury to modified it.
So I was able to change most of the connection string with below update
update[SSISDB].[internal].[execution_parameter_values]
setparameter_value=replace(cast(parameter_valueasvarchar),'OldServer',NEwServer)
update[SSISDB].[internal].[object_parameters]
set[design_default_value]=
replace(
cast([design_default_value]asvarchar(1000)),'OldServer','NEwServer')
Now the only one its complaining is the Project connection string . If I know where to look and update that I might be able to run these packages .

SSIS Expression to Server Name from a Connection String
Hi,
I have an SSIS variable which contains a connection string as follows; -
User::strDYNconnection {Data Source=myServer;Initial Catalog=myDatabase;Provider=SQLNCLI10.1;Integrated Security=XXXX} String
I need to get the server name from the above variable using an SSIS expression so I can pass the server name to another function.
Thanks in advance,
Kieran.
Kieran Patrick Wood http://www.innovativebusinessintelligence.com http://uk.linkedin.com/in/kieranpatrickwood http://kieranwood.wordpress.com/Hi Kieran,
This works fine when the Data source comes first in the connection string (which it usualy does). but when it doesn't,
e.g.
Initial Catalog=myDatabase;Data Source=myServer;Provider=SQLNCLI10.1;Integrated Security=XXXX}
you will get 'myDatabase' as an answer
I would add 'Data source =' in the find string (and adjust for length of this search string to add sufficient offset)
e.g.
SUBSTRING(RIGHT(@[User::strDYNconnection],LEN(@[User::strDYNconnection]) - 11 - FINDSTRING(@[User::strDYNconnection],"Data Source=",1)),1,FINDSTRING((RIGHT(@[User::strDYNconnection],LEN(@[User::strDYNconnection]) - 11 - FINDSTRING(@[User::strDYNconnection],"Data
Source=",1))),";",1) - 1)
Even this is not foolproof, when the Data source is the last element in the string and there is no ending ;
e.g.
Initial Catalog=myDatabase;Provider=SQLNCLI10.1;Integrated Security=XXXX;Data Source=myServer}
the formula needs to be extended further with a ( ? : ) operator around the last operator to see if the last ";" was found or not.

How to Retrieve Server Name for creating connection pool during startup!
Hi All,
I am going thru the edocs documentation of weblogic for creating the connection pool and the datasource dynamically. The URL I referred to was as under
http://edocs.bea.com/wls/docs81/jdbc/programming.html
There is a sample given in the above-mentioned URL. The Server MBean is created by passing the server name.
The code below mentioned was have placed in my dblib.java
svrAdminMBean = (ServerMBean)adminMBeanHome.getAdminMBean("myserver", "Server");
I am creating the connection pool from the servlet by invoking the dblib.java
I cannot hard-code the server name in the dblib.java since the same code was shared across multiple servlets.
Each Servlet will create its own connection pool during application server startup.
Is there a way to retrieve the server name in which the dblib.java is invoked.
Any pointers to info source will be REALLY appreciated.
Many Thanks in Advance,
C R BaradwajYou can get it from the Java system property weblogic.Name, i.e. System.getProperty("weblogic.Name");

How to change Server Name on BPC Connection Wizard in Mass
Hi there,
I need to know if there's a way to change Server Name in Connection Wizard on a large number of PCs, using a configuration file that can be deployed to the PCs that need the change.
Thanks for your response.
Cheers,
RodrigoApparently the Server name is stored under:
HKEY_LOCAL_USER\Software\VB and VBA Program Settings\Outlooksoft
5\LATEST for each user who uses BPC under the data containing "SERVER"
So this is going to help on this requirement, previous a registry backup.

Hi All,
1) I am creating a structure with fields "Name", "Street" and "City". While creation i want to make "Name" fields as mandatory. Is it possible. If so how to achieve this.
2) What is the purpose of Context Object and in which situation we will use this.
3) What is the purpose of Fault Message Types and in which situation we will use this.
4) I am doing file to file scenario, at sender side i have set the adapter as file and transport protocol as "FTP" . It is asking for "Server", "PORT" and "Login Details". What is this FTP, for this do i need to take any login details. I am totally not aware of FTP, could please explain more about this.
Kindly look into the above points and respond point by point.
Regards,
VenkatVenkat,
Ans1: If you want to make the Name field as mandatory give the occurrences as <b>1..1</b>
Ans 2: Refer Context object
Ans 3: Guide for Fault Message Type
Fault Message Type
Ans 4: FTP - U must check with your basis team whether u have FTP server. If they have get the details from them. If they don't then install tools like WSFTP Pro etc, and give the connection details in the comm.channel

Hello,
I have an Exchange 2010 question which I will post in the Exchange 2013 section since the Ask a question button in the legacy Exchange Servers section of technet takes me back to the part of Technet where I can only ask questions regarding Exchange 2013.
If someone can point me to a part where I can place a question in an Exchange 2010 forum please let me know.
We have Exchange 2010 setup with a CAS array listening to outlook.internaldomain.com
We have TMG 2010 setup with a rule for Outlook Anywhere, the rule listens to mail.externaldomain.com and traffic that meets this rule is let through to outlook.internaldomain.com.
When I fire up my laptop, which is connected to the internet, and start Outlook and let it configure my profile through autodiscover it sets it up correct and fills the Outlook profile with a servername stating outlook.internaldomain.com and a proxyserver
to be used stating mail.externaldomain.com. After initial setup when my Outlook starts it almost immediatly prompts me for a username and a password so this is working fine.
At the office we have an internal network segment where DHCP is servicing the connecting clients and giving them our internal DNS servers because they need connection to some other network segments which are not available to the internet. This network segment
does not have access to our internal Exchange environment but has full access to the internet. Clients in this network segment do want to use Outlook so using Outlook Anywhere for them is the logical way to go. When I connect my laptop to this network segment
I get handed an IP address and our internal DNS servers, when I start Outlook it takes about two minutes before a the credential prompt pops up and another 2 to 6 minutes after entering credentials before it says all folders are in sync. This is quite long
and our clients find this unacceptable.
I started testing what might be going on here and I have found that when I manually enter external DNS servers the Outlook password prompt will popup in seconds and all is working as expected so it seems Outlook is trying to connect to the internal servername
when using our internal DNS servers (which can resolve outlook.internalnetwork.com) instead of directly going to the proxy server which is to be used for Outlook Anywhere.
When I start a network monitor trace my thoughts are confirmed because when I am connected to the internal network segment OUTLOOK.EXE first tries to connect to outlook.internaldomain.com, it almost immediately gets a response stating that this route is
inaccessible but OUTLOOK.EXE keeps on trying to connect untill some sort of time out is reached (somewhere around two minutes) after which it connects to mail.externaldomain.com and Outlook shows the credential prompt.
So to round it up, when connected to DNS servers that can resolve the internal servername Outlook tries to connect to the internal servername in stead of the external name, Outlook does not reckognize the answer from the network that the internal route is
not acessible (or it does but does nothing with this information).
Has anybody experienced this behaviour in Outlook?
Does anyone have a solution in where I can force Outlook to connect to it's proxyserver and disregard the internal servername?Thank you for your reply.
The client computers that are experiencing the issues are not domain joined, the only reason I can think of why this is occurring is because the DNS servers are able to resolve the internal hostname of the server, but I would expect Outlook to always use
the proxy server that has been set in the configuration of the Outlook profile. Or at least acknowledging the answer that the initially tried route is inaccessible and immediately continue to the proxy server.
For setting the same hostname for internal and external use, we use different namespaces internally and externally, do you mean setting the external hostname on the CAS array for internal use ? Wouldn't that push all internal communication to the internet
and to the outside interface of the TMG where the server is published with that hostname ? -

FTP CONNECTION PARAMETER, SERVER & PORT
HI m new to xi,
i m working with file to file scenario. while creating the sender communication channel for file adapter for the FTP connection parameters, what to give for the server.
i dont know my server ip address. m having my own system.
i installed guideFTPD to my OS (windows server). i dont know the ip adress, can any one tell me how to know the server IP address.
i searched in SDN but i didnt find.
points rewards
thanks in advance
munnaHi,
If you are just doing it for testing then you can also go for NFS mode in your File Adapter which will allow you to pick and drop the file on your XI servier directory. The directory can be seen by using the tcode AL11.
But if you have any specific reason to use FTP adapter then you can go ahead and as suggested above you can find the ip address.
Probably if you go through this link before configuring your adapter then it will help you a lot..

Get error when passing a server name to Crystal Report
I am developing a desktop application using VS 2012 with CRforVS_13_0_9 and CRRuntime_64bit_13_0_10 installed. The database is SQL Server 2012 Express. I use SQL OLEDB in Crystal Report to connect the SQL database. Here is part of the codes.
Dim crTableLogoninfo As New TableLogOnInfo
Dim crConnectionInfo As New ConnectionInfo
Dim crTables As Tables
Dim crTable As Table
With crConnectionInfo
.ServerName = Login.sServer
.DatabaseName = Login.sDatabase
.UserID = Login.sDBUserID
.Password = Login.sDBPassword
End With
Try
crTables = CReport.Database.Tables
For Each crTable In crTables
crTableLogoninfo = crTable.LogOnInfo
crTableLogoninfo.ConnectionInfo = crConnectionInfo
crTable.ApplyLogOnInfo(crTableLogoninfo)
Next
CrystalReportViewer1.ReportSource = Nothing
CrystalReportViewer1.ReportSource = CReport
I get an error "Failed to open connection -- Database vendor code 17" when I run a Crystal Reports through my application. The problem is Crystal Reports does not like the server name which is passed. The purpose for passing a server name is to connect to different server if needed. I am not 100% sure the error occurs after VS 2012 or SQL Server 2012 express was updated.
Any ideas how I can fix this problem?
Thanks,
JohnHi John
First, you want to check the error code in your database documentation. The error is being passed from the db client through the report engine totally unmodified. Googling the error will also be a good idea.
And, seeing as you are using SQL Server 2012, make absolutely sure that the SQL Native 11 client is installed.

File selection sequence in the FTP connection for File Sender Adapter
Hi,
I have a file to Proxy scenario using FTP connection parameters.
If there are multiple files in the sender folder, XI picks up the files randomly with no processing sequence.
I want XI to pick up the files based on the date time stamp meaning the oldest file created in the folder should be processes first and rest all in sequence there after.
I know processing sequence can be set for NFS connection but not for FTP .
Please suggest if there's any way to make this work.
Thanks in advance.
Thanks and Regards,
Amit Bhagwat.
Edited by: Amit Bhagwat on Nov 4, 2009 5:17 AMHi
For the Transport Protocol "File Transfer Protocol (FTP)" files are always processed in ascending alphabetical order
If you want the file to be processed in sequence then you can use Quality of Service EOIO in the sender adapter.
The files are processed in the sequence they are picked up.
otherwise use BPM for File Sequencing..

So I have set up a localhost area in my Mac. I have the new server.app and I am running yosemite 10.10.2 .
I have a program running in my local server enviroment that wants to FTP to my mac .
It asks for the server , name, password, port and path. what are they?
I am pretty certain that the Serveris "localhost",
Name is my macs name (like my-mac-min)
password is "my login password"
and they suggest port 21.
But what is the file path, lets just say my site is set up http://localhost/siteftp and is actually at my Users/Sites/siteftp folder.
Why cant this program connect to the mac.
Is it because they are both operating in the same localhost enviroment,
could it be my folder permissions are not correct on siteftp folder?
Help please !I tried turning the computer off and then back on. The alerts don't show the notice to update as resolved. Hopefully this is not a problem or an indicator or another problem. Should I ignore or reload 10.10.1 from the app store to trigger a resolved check in a green circle?
Interesting that I had to buy server software after my free Yosemite download. I would have hoped that the two pieces of software would have gone together without any complication. It is not positive to end up buying a problem. Ah well, time to move on. -
