Server unexpectedly dropped the connection ...

Safari 4.0.3
This has just started happening
Safari can’t open the page “http://store.apple.com/” because the server unexpectedly dropped the connection. This sometimes occurs when the server is busy. Wait for a few minutes, and then try again.
Using Firefox there is no problem
Have cleared cache and reset Safari

Hi!
I'm having the same problem here. Tried to delete cache and disable all internet plugins, but that didn't help either. However, I created a clean new user and tried to surf those pages from that account and it worked flawlessly. Thus I think that there's something messed up with my user account. Any ideas anybody?

  • Since upgrading to Yosemite I am getting frequently "safari can't open the page (blank) because the server unexpectedly dropped the connection this sometimes occurs when the server is busy. wait and then try again"

Since upgrading to Yosemite on my iMac I am frequently getting "safari can't open the page (blank) because the server unexpectedly dropped the connection this sometimes occurs when the server is busy. wait and then try again". This is with both a WiFi and Ethernet connection. The server is working fine from other devices using WiFi onto it such as iPhones, iPads, MacBook (which is also on Yosemite) so don't believe its an issue with the server.
I am also noticing page load very slowly when this problem is not occurring.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this behavior; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Please take this step regardless of the results of Step 1.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of Steps 1 and 2.

  • Every time I try to use Safari I get the "Safari can't open the page because the server unexpectedly dropped the connection" message.

I've read through a ton of the discussions on this already, but none of the answers have helped. I've already tried restarting Safari, updating Safari, restarting my mac, emptying the cashe, and deleting the cookies. This isn't just happening on one website either. It's happening with every website I try to access. I'd really appreciate any tips or help.
    Thanks!

  • Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection

Hello All, Is anybody else getting this error message?  Anybody know why?  Any known fixes? I am running:Windows 8.1Windows Live Mail (but also see the problem using Outlook 2010)Only see the problem with my IMAP account, POP accounts have not had the problem. Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. Details:The server did not respond to this IMAP command before the connection was terminated.Configuration:Account: *******Server: imap.comcast.netUser name: ******Protocol: IMAP Port: 993Secure(SSL): 1Code: 800ccc0f

Unfortunately I have not been able to resolve the problem and Comcast has not been of any help.  All I can do is tell you what did not work for me. - I called customer service and he tried resynching the mail server (not sure what that actually is), he was sure this would work, it did not resolve the issue.- I was told to reinstall windows live mail, I did and that did not resolve the issue at all- Turned off the firewall and email virus scanning, no improvement- Increased and decreased lenght of server timeouts, no improvement I have discovered that I get the error message with windows live mail and Oultlook 2010 but not with the windows mail app that comes with windows 8. I have also found that I only get the error with my imap accounts. Very frustrating......

  • My AppleTV2 keeps dropping the connection to itunes on my PC.

My AppleTV2 keeps dropping the connection to itunes on my PC
If i retstart iTunes or homesharing it starts up again but only for a few minutes.
This is hopeless and has been happening to many others- please can you give me a fix for this?

I have the same problem with my apple tv and itunes. Home sharing is on but it keeps dropping out every couple of minutes - really annoying! I noticed tonight that it drops out when i select the shows and music in my library on the TV with the remote that comes with apple tv, but when i play tv shows or my music by selecting clicking play from itunes on my laptop it works. There's definitely a bug but try this work around and see if you have any luck.

  • 2009 Macbook will not connect to internet, or drops the connection the quickly.

My 2009 Macbook has suddenly decided that it either cannot make a connection to anything, or when it finally does connect, it almost immediately drops the connection.  This is irregardless of which web browser I'm using, as it does it for all different browsers.  Other devices are connecting wirelessly just fine.
    Thank you for your help.

I have fixed it, had to format and re-install, annoying, but at least it works now.

  • Airport Extreme keeps dropping the connection

    Hi,
    I have this model:
    http://www.apple.com/airportextreme/
It is connected to the main router which is for TalkTalk, router is just a standard Broadband Wireless N ADSl2+ Router.
My settings in my AE are:
    Internet
    Connect Using: DHCP
    IPv4 Address: 192.168.1.2
    Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
    Router Address: 192.168.1.1
    (nothing else is filled in)
    Internet Options
    Configure IPv6: Link-local only
    Wireless
Network Mode: Create a wireless network
    Wireless Security: WPA2 Personal
    Wireless Options
    5ghz network name - ticked
    Radio Mode: 802.11a/n - 802.11b/g
    2.4ghz Channel: 1
    5ghz Channel: 40
    Network
    Router Mode: Off (Bridge Mode)
Is there anything else I can do? Can I give you some more information?

Overall the settings look good, except for the 2.4 GHz wireless channel in use.
When you say that the connection is being dropped, is this a wired connection to one of the LAN <-> ports on the AirPort Extreme......or.......are you talking about wireless connections to the AirPort Extreme?
If wireless, have you connected a laptop or desktop directly to one of the LAN ports on the AirPort as a test to see if drops occur with that type of connection?
    Regarding wireless channels......
Channel 1 is the most crowded channel in the world, since most routers default to that setting. If you have other wireless networks around you, they are likely interfering with your wireless network, causing disruptions.
Try a higher setting like Channel 11, or 13 if it is available in your area.  Then work down a channel at a time to see if you can find a good one to use.

  • My Anyconnect Secure Mobility Client drops the connection suddently and is unable to re-connect until I restart my laptop

    Hello all,
My company has deployed AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client 3.1.04059 and we use Windows 7
The client works fine most of the time, but all of a sudden the connection drops. I can see both the Windows Network and Sharing Center and Cisco AnyConnect suddenly disconnected. This happens most of the times that I change to another location with a different wi-fi network. With my past Windows 2003 and AnyConnect versions (not sure which one that was), the VPN connection would be recovered shortly after re-connecting to the new wi-fi, but with this version it will never allow me to connect to the new wi-fi. Sometimes, if I use the troubleshoot manager from Windows, it will reset my network adapter and that will allow me to connect to the new wi-fi network. Most of the times it won't.
In those cases, I need to close all programs, log off and log back into Windows. Some other times that will not work either and I will need to restart the whole machine. Restarting the Anyconnect related services alone does not help.
I am worried because today I lost the connection all of a sudden in my own home, while any other device could easily connect to the wifi. Anyconnect will simply say that it is unable to connect. After many tests I had to reset the computer.
Am I the only one seeing this problem? Any advice anyone can give me?
    Thanks in advance,
    Antonio

So it seems that I was barking at the wrong tree :)
After a bit more research on-line, I found that changing the Power management options for the Wireless network adapter resolved the problem.
I went to Control Panel> Device Manager> right-click on Wireless Network Adapter> Properties > Power Management tab > Uncheck 'Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power'
So far so good. Hope this helps others.
    Best,
    Antonio

  • Atv2 keeps dropping the connection to i tunes. I get a message telling me to open home sharing even though i have done so and i tunes is open on my iMac. This is not a new problem but it has gotten worse progressively

ooops.starting again. The connection to i tunes via apple tv keeps dropping after a very short period of time. T get a message telling me to turn on home sharing when its is turned and and i tunes is open on my mac. I just updated from Snow Leopard to Mac OS X Lion 10.7.2 (11C74) but as the problem was happening before this i feel thats not significant. Any help would be appreciated

    Hi
Thanks for the reply and the analogy, one can overlook the fact that it could be something other than the device that is the cause of the problem and i realise that, however frustration can creep in and cause one to overlook obvious things. I have spoken to my ISP and we have examined a number things, firstly my download speed on wireless which is a healthy 16mbps. Next the channels being used around me, which were numbers one, six and eleven, and we changed my channel to three. It would appear that those using eleven are mobile users with no fixed landline. I do not have any electrical devices anywhere near the ATV except for the TV itself, a DVD recorder and a PC computer only rrecently set up there and after the problems started anyway. I have removed the PC entirely from the room and it has no effect on the situation with the ATV. In the same room but some distance from the ATV, a lamp and the telephone base station, which has to be close to the socket which is in the same room as the TV and the ATV of course. The problem continues. I have actually tried connecting ATV by ethernet to the router, and last night that worked, today however it refuses to do anything at all.
At this moment in time i have the computer connected via ethernet cable, though it connects by wireless perfectly. I have the ATV connected vis ethernet, and it fails to connect to iTunes at all.
Overall i have stripped the thing down to its basics and started from scratch again more than once. I am not particularly clever, nor am i stupid. For me all i really want is to be able to plug this stuff in and have it do what it says on the tin. So far i have spent a great deal of time trying to figure out what is wrong with ATV, a device that cost £99 plus a few months ago, purchased 17th March this year, and i, like everyone else i suspect, have better things to do with my time. If you have any advice, help or suggestions i would be most grateful. Please do not think that my tone is in any way a criticism of you personally, its just a very frustrating experience.
    Many thanks

Double click the connection and wait for the message "Connected".
Once this has successfully Connected, click the button below:
I havent got a clue what its on about and i tried, since i posted i have had to reboot the hub 3 times today, not good at all, since i came from a ISP that was better than what im getting and cheaper!

  • My iPad will connect to the Internet but my iMac keeps dropping the connection or connects very slow.

My iPad is working fine and connecting to the internet no problem. My iMac computer, when I check the system preferences and I go into network it says my network is working fine and I appear to be connected to the Internet, yet when I going try to go on safari it won't let me connect to the Internet or if it does the connection is slow. When I do manage to connect to the internet, the connection drops quickly. What do I do?

Please answer as many of the following questions as you can.
Are all network applications slow, or only some? If only some, which ones?
Is networking always slow, or only sometimes?
Disconnect all other devices from the network. Any change?
If you can connect to more than one network, are they all slow?
If possible, connect to your router with an Ethernet cable and turn off Wi-Fi. Any difference?
Boot in safe mode and test. Any difference?

  • SmartView 11.1.2 keeps dropping the connection

I have an SR on this but figured I would try here as well. I believe this has been thrown over to development. We have installed SmartView 11.1.2 and we can connect and retrieve data. We are on 2008 OS, 64 bit. About every 3 or 4 drills in excel SmartView loses the connection. To get around this we just hit refresh all or sometimes just try it again and it seems to re-connect. Anyone else have this issue?
    Thanks,
    Jeff

    Hi,
I checked. Patch solves the problem. But you must install:
    - then -> patch
Open IIS console and uncheck the Virtual Memory Usage and the Private Memory Usage (On the Application Pools page, select the application pool used by HFM).
Restart all Oracle Hyperion and IIS services.
In our case, these steps helped.
    Best regards,
    Marcin Kuzdra
