Service profiles auto association

Hi, if a server goes down, is it possible to configure the service profile for moving automatically to another server from the servers pool?

No.  UCS will not do automation like this.  The reason is because its a tough call to determine what qualifies a server as "being down" - loss of networking, loss of management, loss of power, OS crash etc  We wouldn't want UCSM moving around hosts unless certain criteria were met.   This has been heavily discussed internally and it was decided that UCSM would not touch SP movement pertaining to host failures.
There are other management Apps that can handle the orchestration piece like this - which tie into UCSM very nicely via the XML API.

  • Can't add a new vNIC for service profile

    Hello,
I'm trying to add an additional vNIC for Service Profile.
    B200-M3, VIC1240+expander, IOM 2208XP, 4 links between IOM and FI 6248, firmware 2.2(1f).
At the moment 7 vNICs are configured for this service profile. Service profile is associated with blade server.
When I try to add a new vNIC (it will be 8th vNIC), I see the error (see the attachment).
For some reasons separate vNICs are more useful for Hyper-V servers :)
All vNICs created via vNIC templates. All vNICs configured as VMQ, only iSCSI configured as Dynamic,
As I read the spec, VIC1240 can support up to 250 vNICs. What is wrong ? How to fix that ?

I have seen the VMQ limit being reached when applying the VMQ policy to the vNIC template. Can you try not selecting the VMQ policy for these new vNICs. If this works, you might be reaching the VMQ limits as described below:
    Number of VMQ's:
128 is the Maximum number per vNIC
256 is the max number per Blade

  • Can't auto decommission and move service profile to new server

When blade hardware is fail service profile will move to new server in server pool. but before service profile move to new server ,administrator must approve by click Decommission link in server pool configuration. If i tested by click Decommission in Server Maintennance Menu it work fine but tested by Unmount Blade Server ,Unmount HDD ,Power button don't work service profile don't move to new server.
I need automatic decommission function and how i config it?
When service profile move to new server if blade hardware fail?

    Thank you for answer.
I has open TAC and then answer from Cisco support is no auto decommission in UCSM.
I think is Weakness of cisco ucs system.
UCS Develop team can you provide simple script auto decommission for me and another customer ?

  • Limited network service profile using zonecfg

Is there a zonecfg command that will set a local zone up with the limited network service profile (e.g. disable all remote access services except ssh)?    In the process of creating scripts to create zones using  zonecfg -f zonecfg_command_file, and would like to include this in the zonecfg_command_file  if possible.   Already know how to setup this profile manually after the zone has been installed and pre booting it.
    Thanks,

    Hi Mohammad,
    1. To utilize the KVM, you need to configure the IP management pool - from which the IP addresses are automatically taken from. All IP addresses in the management IP pool must be in the same subnet as the IP address of the fabric interconnect.
    2. If you shut down the blade (that has a service profile associated to it) and move the blade to another slot, the service profile will NOT follow the blade. The service profile will have an configuration error saying that the server resource is unavailable. The blade in the new slot will come up as unassociated.
    Hope this helps to clarify.
    Thanks,
    Michael

  • Management IP from service profile and from server

are there a difference between the management IP from the equipment tab --> server1 --> change mgmt IP
and from server tab--> service profile--> service profile1--> change mgmt IP
as I found that when I configured the mgmt from server in equipment tab, I could not find this IP in the mgmt in service profile mgmt IP
the attachment describe what I mean

Out of band means communication over the 1G management port of the fabric interconnects.
By default, each blade in a chassis slot gets assigned a CIMC IP address out of the pool. Therefore, if you associate the SP to another blade, the CIMC / KVM address changes.
It is also possible to assign an IP address to a service profile, and avoid that the CIMC / KMV address changes, if association of the SP happens. The disadvantage is that you need a additional IP address for every SP, even if the SP is not associated. Therefore most customers don't use this feature.
Therefore, a CIMC can have a max of 2 IP addresses.

  • UCS Central: How Global Service Profile match DG

    Hi
I'm pretty new to UCS Central and I've got a rudimentary UCS Central question.
I wonder how Global Service Profiles match/relate to domain groups.
To what I've read so far we use different domain groups to apply different operational policies to differenent UCS systems.
How does this relate/interact with global service profiles?
Is there a way to make sure that some service profiles could be associated just to UCS servers belonging to one DG?
Or is everything which is related to global service profiles like MAC-adresses, policies and the service profiles themselves always at the root and therefore can always be applied to all UCS servers managed within one UCS Central installation?
    best regards
    Dani

    Hi Dani,
Global Service Profiles fall under the Organization structure.     And the Organization structure/hierarchy has no relationship/dependency to Domain Groups.
So limitting visibility of Global Service Profiles/Templates to certain Domain Groups --- no, you'd have to limit them within an Organizational context.
    Hope this helps,
           -Jeff

  • Controller based AirGroup Policies & Auto-association

    Requirement:
    Controller based AirGroup Policies
By default all AirGroup servers are visible to every AirGroup user.
This features enables configuring policies on controller for AirGroup servers to limit the visibility of AirGroup servers to destined AirGroup users.  Admin is allowed to configure shared user-list, shared role-list and shared group-list for each AirGroup server to limit this server’s visibility to intended AirGroup users.
The group-list is the same as the group defined in Active directory.
These configurations were done in CPPM prior to v6.4.3, now it is extended to the controller.
    Auto-association
Auto-association feature helps with visibility of an AirGroup server If it needs to be seen by a broader area. This feature enables attaching an AirGroup server to an AP-name, AP-group or AP-FQLN and any AirGroup users associated to that AP-name etc. will be automatically see those AirGroup Server.
Auto-association feature can be applied at AirGroup Service level as well – AirPlay etc. All AirGroup  Servers advertising that service will be seen by AG users associated to that AP-name/AP-group/AP-FQLN.
Use case – In a multi-floor building, if you want users in Floor-10 to have access to a printer in Floor-10. You can define location based policy and attach the printer to an AP-group for floor-10 and users belonging to that AP-group will be able to access that printer.
    Solution:
    Controller based AirGroup Policies
Policies can be configured on the controller to limit the visibility of AirGroup servers to destined AirGroup users
Policies can be configured based on shared user-list, shared role-list and shared group-list
Location based policies for AirGroup devices can be configured based on ap-name, ap-group and ap-fqln
This was done in CPPM prior to v6.4.3
    Auto-association
Enables AG users to discover AG servers based on
    AP or its neighbours
    AP-Group
    AP-FQLN
Auto-associate can be enabled at Airgroup  Server
    Airgroup  Service level (Airplay etc)
    Configuration:
This configuration defines a policy for AG server based on its MAC address and share this server among list of users, role, group and location.
    Mac Address Based Policy Configuration
       (config) #airgroup policy <AG-Server-mac>

    Deleting an ap-group to shared-location
    (config-airgroup-policy) #location ap-group remove bldg1
    Enabling location auto-association for ap-group
    (config-airgroup-policy) #location ap-group auto
    Service level Auto-associate
Configure Auto-association based on AirGroup Service based for AP-name, AP-Group and AP-location. Users associated to AP-name/AP-group/AP-FQLN will automatically see all Airgroup servers that advertise the AG service.

    Debugging commands
Enable mdns logging using the following commands -
#logging level debugging user process mdns
#logging level debugging system process mdns
    Command to see policy entries
Command to see service level  Auto-assciate
Command to see records of each of the airgroup servers and the buckets (AP name/FQLN) in which they fall into
This command shows the AirGroup devices fall into different buckets based on the controller based policies.
In this example, the AirGroup device (10.70.21.32) is configured under AP bucket.
This bucketing mechanism also helps with the scalability. With AOS v6.4.3, the scalability in terms of number of AirGroup users and servers has been increased to the platform limit of the controller. For example, for 7240 controller, number of AirGroup users and servers is 32K (max #of clients to be supported by 7240 controller). Fetching an entry for AirGroup device from the cache entries (with this increased scalability) was a challenge. This bucketing mechanism helps finding clien entries belonging to a specific bucket and fetching from the entries in that bucket.
Few additional commands to find log files and tech-support.
    #Show airgroup servers verbose
    #Show log user all
    #Show log system all
    #Show tech-support <file-name>

  • Service Profiles and Cisco Unified Communications

    Hi All,
I need some information on Service Profile configuration for ESXi hosts that will be running Cisco Unified Communications Manager and associated applications (Unity Connections and Presence)
The B-Series Chassis will initially host 2 B200M2 blades for this purpose and I'm after best practice for the Service Profiles. The blades are running the M81KR Virtual Interface Card.
Any help is appreciated, or if someone can point me in the direction of the documentation that would also be appreciated.
    Cheers
    Darren

    It's quite straightforward:
    - you must boot from local disk
    - bundle your local drives in a RAID-1 group
    - assign a pair of vHBAs to your profile for connectivity to your FC SAN (one to SAN "A", one to SAN "B")
    - as far as networking in concerned, you have "carte blanche" (UC VMs use a single nic and Nexus 1000V is optional)
--> you could for instance create 6 vnics: 2 for service console, 2 for vmotion, 2 for vmdata. Or just 2 vnics and have Nexus 1000V "own" them. Any other scheme you find suitable is ok.
Most restrictions aren't on the UCS side but rather on specific VMware features currently supported by the solution.

  • Jabber 4 Everyone default service profile

    Hello all,
A customer running UCM 9.1.2 with IM&P 9.1.2. They have rolled out Jabber Desktop as the default application for IM and Presence for the organization. We have setup several "SERVICE PROFILES" inside of UCM to differentiate between Ehanced Presence for employees that have both IP Phones and Jabber, and just Regular Presence for employees that do not have an IP Phone on the system. We made the Regular Presence the "DEFAULT SERVICE PROFILE" and then we ran a bulk update to update all users "currently" in the directory to have the option
HOME CLUSTER and ENABLE User for Unified CM IM and Presence.
CUCM is AD integrated so all the users come from AD
The issue we are experiencing is for any new hires, the account gets created in AD then eventually sync'ed into CUCM. We can't find a switch that allows us to make sure new users have certain "DEFAULT USER" settings namely "HOME CLUSTER" and "Enable User for Unified CM IM and Presence. So these new users are not getting this setting and can not login to Jabber until this occures
    Thanks

    Hi Ryan,
I have the same issue and at the moment no solution for that.
I have a bulk user template, so everytime new users come in, I bulk the setting over the new users.
Would be nice to see, if someone has another solution.
    Best regards

  • Field explorer does not open on my terminal services profile

    Dear Sirs,
For some reason I am unable to open my field explorer in any crystal report on my terminal services profile. I have checked with other profiles and the problem does not exist. The problem is specific to my profile. I can also create new reports and access fields however if I use the filed explorer button I cannot access fields, parameters or formulas from there. Problem just started this morning. We have been using crystal reports X1 for last 12 months. Would it be a terminal server issue?
I would appreciate whatever help you can give me.

    Hi Philip
This can be an issue with the terminal server that you are using. Please refer to the Crystal Reports XI supported platforms guide if the server that you are using is supported or not.
You can download the guide from the below link:

  • How to change path of Users Terminal Services Profile for multiple AD users on server 2003?

Hello experts. I am working on a file server migration. All data has been migrated, I am currently working on redirecting users to the new file server. I
am able to select multiple users at once in ADUC -> right-click -> properties -> profile and here I can change the home folder and roaming profile path for each all users to point towards the new file server.
The issue I have run in to is that we have roaming profiles for terminal services users. So, there are hundreds of users that have their terminal services profile
configured in AD -> Right-click user (one at a time) -> properties -> terminal services profile. Here, the profile path is configured for each user as \\OLDserver\Profiles\%username%
and I need to change it to \\NEWserver\profiles\%username%.
I know that you can configure this path via group policy, I set up a GPO; Computer / Administrative Templates / Windows Components / Terminal Services / “Set Path
for TS Roaming Profiles” as \\NEWserver\profiles and applied this GPO to an OU containing the TS servers.
The problem is, the GPO is not working... When I log in to the TS and add a document to My Documents, it is still saving under \\OLDserver\profiles\Username.
So, the settings in AD are trumping the GPO I believe. What is the best way to accomplish my goal? Thanks in advance!

    > to change it to \\NEWserver\profiles\%username%.
That is "profile" in opposite to...
    > add a document to My Documents, it is still saving under
    > \\OLDserver\profiles\Username.
...this one which is Folder Redirection and has NOTHING to do with
    server based profiles.
    > So, the settings in AD are trumping the GPO I believe.
No, it isn't. When you do not enable FR and you access "Documents", you
will never see an UNC path but the local c:\users\xyz\documents folder.

  • Repository Service for Auto Submit for Approval

    Hi all,
Can anyone help me with the creation of a Repository Service to auto 'submit for approval' any document created.
My main problem is in two methods:
    1) removeRepositoryAssignment(IRepositoryManager mgr)
In some samples, I saw always this code line:
      mgr.getEventBroker().unregister(this, ResourceEvent.CREATE_CHILD);
But in my project the unregister method doesn't have that parameters
    2) received(IEvent event)
I need some help to know what code should I put
The remaining steps, I think I can handle by myself.
    Many Thanks,
    Luis

    Hi,
    1) make sure you use com.sapportals.wcm.repository.manager.IRepositoryManager, use the JAR (bc.rf.framework_api.jar from the \usr\sap\XXX\JCXX\j2ee\cluster\serverX\apps\sap.com\irj\servlet_jsp\irj\root\WEB-INF\portal\portalapps\com.sap.netweaver.bc.rf\lib folder) from the portal you are willing to develop to make sure you have the actual libraries.
    2) in this method you have to catch the events that creates the resource (ResourceEvent.CREATE_CHILD) - later you will see, that you have to handle also the CHANGE events and so on. When you have the event, get the resource - for CREATE_CHILD it is
    event.getResource()
Now you can handle the submit for approval by yourself.

You should have the entry in the Portalapp.xml something similar to the following.
