I would like to use Web Services in R12.
Please guide me as to how to accomplish this.
By going thru the forums i found that, it would be easier to do this in R12.refer this metalink note

Hi All,
We have MWA setup in R12.1.3
Getting some errors like this in system.log :
java.io.IOException: -1 is read from input stream
at oracle.apps.mwa.presentation.telnet.ProtocolHandler.readChar(ProtocolHandler.java:1422)

at oracle.apps.mwa.presentation.telnet.ProtocolHandler.readChar(ProtocolHandler.java:1404)
at oracle.apps.mwa.presentation.telnet.ProtocolHandler.enterHighlight(ProtocolHandler.java:2050)
at oracle.apps.mwa.presentation.telnet.ProtocolHandler.run(ProtocolHandler.java:754)
And the users are being timed out after 5min.
Checked mwa.cfg, the settings are 30min for timeout..
Please advise.
Referred MWA Troubleshooting Tips for Release 12 [ID 782162.1], but have not got any solution.940525 wrote:

Hi,
I am new to oracle apps r12,i have worked on 11i before..i have some doubts
can anybody please give me the details of these services
Application Tier Services
The following are the major application tier services:
Root services?
Web Entry Point services?
Web Application services--->for apache onlyy?
Batch Processing services--->for concurrent only?
Other services--->other services means which service ?
And in shared application tier filesystem why we are enabling root services on the primary and secondary nodes? as the root services are already installed on primary node.
root services are related to inst_top ? please reply me.
ThanksHi,this is the error from main log file

Personalizing/customizing Mobile Field Service in R12
Hello,
We are trying to add some fields and also restrict choices in some dropdown lists in MFS. Right now I am clueless on how to proceed as this is my first time working with MFS. I have seen the personalization using Mobile Field Service Developer responsibility, but it is not like regular OAF personalization where I could add a field if it is available in the underlying VO. Has anybody done any personalizations in MFS? Some examples would really help, even if they may not be related.
TIA

Oracle self service reports in R12
Hi,
We are gonna upgrade from EBS 11i to EBS R12. In 11i we have several reports which are run as self service. Would like some suggestions is there any way we can run these reports in R12, One method is I redevelop the reports using XML publisher. Is there any way I can redevelop the these reports so that they run as self service pages.
Your reply is appreciated.

Hi,
Can anybody let me know the steps to start DB and APPS services in R12 installed on OEL5?
Thanks,
AmitDatabase Tier Scripts in R12
For Database tier you need to start database and database listener. Scripts are located in
Database_Install_Dir/db/tech_st/10.2.0/appsutil/scripts/$CONTEXT_NAME
- For Database
Use script addbctl.sh
- For Database Listener
Use script addlnctl.sh
or alternatively you can use
lsnrctl startstop listener_name (For Database Listener)
sqlplus “/as sysdba”
SQL> startup shutdown immediate
Middle/Application Tier Scripts in R12
Scripts for Application Tier services in R12 are located in “
Install_base/inst/apps/$CONTEXT_NAME/admin/scripts“
where CONTEXT_NAME is of format SID_HOSTNAME
i) adstrtal.sh
Master script to start all components/services of middle tier or application tier. This script will use Service Control API to start all services which are enabled after checking them in context file (SID_HOSTNAME.xml or CONTEXT_NAME.xml)
ii) adstpall.sh
Master script to stop all components/services of middle tier or application tier.
iii) adalnctl.sh
Script to start / stop apps listener (FNDFS and FNDFS). This listener will file will be in 10.1.2 ORACLE_HOME (i.e. Forms & Reports Home)
listener.ora file will be in $INST_TOP/apps/$CONTEXT_NAME/ora/10.1.2/network/admin directory
Mostly similar to one in 11i with only change in ORACLE_HOME i.e. from 8.0.6 to 10.1.2
iv) adapcctl.sh
Script to start/stop Web Server or Oracle HTTP Server. This script uses opmn (Oracle Process Manager and Notification Server) with syntax similar to opmnctl [startstop]proc ohs
like
opmnctl stopproc ohs
(In 11i this script directly used to call apachectl executable but now calls opmnctl which in turn calls apachectl. In 11i web server oracle home was 1.0.2.2.2 but in R12 its 10.1.3)
v) adcmctl.sh
Script to start / stop concurrent manager, Similar to one in 11i. (This script in turn calls startmgr.sh )
vi) adformsctl.sh
Script to start / stop Forms OC4J from 10.1.3 Oracle_Home. This script will also use opmnctl to start/stop Forms OC4J like
opmnctl stopproc type=oc4j instancename=forms
vii) adformsrvctl.sh
This script is used only if you wish to start forms in socket mode. Default forms connect method in R12 is servlet.
If started this will start frmsrv executable from 10.1.2 Oracle_Home in Apps R12
viii) adoacorectl.sh
This script will start/stop oacore OC4J in 10.1.3 Oracle_Home. This scripts will also use opmnctl (similar to adapcctl & adformsctl) to start oacore instance of OC4J like
opmnctl startproc type=oc4j instancename=oacore

Adcmctl.sh very slow on R12
Hi,
adcmctl.sh command takes a lot of time to bring down the concurrent services in R12 env compared to 11i version. I can understand this if we have brought down the services when any concurrent requests are still running , but this happens even when there are no requests running.
Can you please let me know why this happens in R12 , does the adcmctl.sh do something else here compared to the 11i version. What do you mean by it is so slow? How long does it take for the CM to shutdown?
Any error/warning messages in the CM log file? -
Hi,
How to check if my services in R12 are running ?
I want to check these from the unix command line
Say for example in 11i we used to do ps -ef | grep fnd
Does those command holds good in R12 as well.

user551201Hi,
You can still use the ps -ef method for some of the processes, like the concurrent managers. For the forms and web tier, it's actually a little bit more straightforward, since the services are under opmn. To determine the status of your forms and web components, try:
appldev@r12dev:~> $ADMIN_SCRIPTS_HOME/adopmnctl.sh status
You are running adopmnctl.sh version 120.4
Checking status of OPMN managed processes...
Processes in Instance: R12DEV_r12dev.r12dev.flyingpigs.int
------------------------------------------------+---------
ias-component | process-type | pid | status
------------------------------------------------+---------
OC4J | oafm | 2152 | Alive
OC4J | forms | 2085 | Alive
OC4J | oacore | 2018 | Alive
HTTP_Server | HTTP_Server | 1965 | Alive
ASG | ASG | N/A | Down
adopmnctl.sh: exiting with status 0
...you'll find that the start/stop scripts for the individual components (adapcctl.sh, adformsctl.sh, etc) will produce the same output when you run them with the 'status' option.

After reading the Creating and Maintaining Services section of the R12 Dev Guide I am unclear on how to deploy and access a service in R12. Can anyone provide additional insight into how to properly deploy and access an OAF service in R12?
Thanks,
JasonAs my understanding there no standard/open source tool specially for deployment of OAF Code.

Changing oaj2se.exe binary file for form operations
Hi,
When you open the form service in R12.1.3, you encounter a page with the following message.
In order to access this application, you must install the J2SE Plugin version 1.6.0_07. To install this plugin, click here to download the oaj2se.exe executable. Once the download is complete, double-click the oaj2se.exe file to install the plugin. You will be prompted to restart your browser when the installation is complete.
If you need the newer version - let's say 1.6.0.10 - than 1.6.0.07. Then, going through click here will give still the old binary file.
For this kind of cases, it would be good if the binary file just gives the latest one when clicked to download j2se plugin.
So, here the questions come.
Q1.
Is it safe to replace the old binary file with the latest jre file from Oracle site?
Q2.
How can this be done? I mean, where is the location and is it ok just to replace the binary file?
Does anyone have any idea on this?
Thanks,Hi,

FNDOPP process consumes 200% CPU even though request count is less
Hi Guys,
We have problem with FNDOPP services in R12.1.3 with database version 11.2.0.3
Its a multinode environment with RAC database and shared Appl_top with PCP.
The problem is that FNDOPP process at OS level is consuming 200% CPU
we have defined 4 threads for OPP in our production environment. with server having 24 CPU on each application node.
Also Post processing action Concurrent Request takes long to process with OPP.
Please suggest what areas to look into bring down load on OPP and hence CPU consumption through OPP process.
Your help is appreciated.
