Session 0 (Zero) and public pages

Hi APEX gurus,
I have some difficulties with public pages and session 0 in combination with Tabs.
The problem occur when i click on some of my Tabs. For some reason the session 0 is replaces with the proper session id. This only happens for some Tabs. When i go back to the previous Tab, session 0 i back i the URL...
I have tried to replicate this problem in a new application but I'm not able to reproduse this behavior :(
I use APEX version 3.2.1.00.12 and I only use one level of Tabs.
Can anybody give me a hint or clue to how I can debug this problem?

Some time ago, probably at the time of apex version 3.0 or even before, i had a similar issue.
Session zero makes sense if you are trying to get a stable URL that can be indexed optimally by search bots.
If you have a similar requirement, then it makes sense to change tab templates and replace javascript doSubmits with links containing session zero, because that will enable spiders to drill down your application, which would be impossible in the other way, unless there are additional links somewhere else in the page.
You will achieve the twofold result of stabilizing the indexed URLs and also make session zero more persistent for the user.

Session Idle time and public web pages access

Hi
The idle timeout can happen when authenticated user requests only public web pages on the site (pages in notenforced_list) . Following request to the protected pages is possible only throw the annoying login page.
I need to configure AM to track access to the public web pages for authenticated users. And so, idle timeout will only possible, if authenticated user actually not sends any requests to the site.
Please give me an ideas, how it is possible.
Only one bad solution i know:
To put hidden image to the all public site pages, which is protected by policy agent. Every request to the public pages will be enforced by policy agent (throw request to the hidden image). And there is no idle timeout when authenticated user actually still active on the site.

We are find a trouble.
The answer is for history:
The idle timeout can happen when authenticated user requests only public web pages on the site (pages in notenforced_list)The idle time can happend only if Policy Agent has no mapping (profile or session) attributes to the HEAD or COOKIE to the HTTP request. If at leats one attribute (profile or session) is mapped, then all work propertly. There is no Access Manager Session Idle timeout in this case.

Help on Authentication Schema and public page

i'm developing a app using an authentication schema basede on OID.
The problem is that the first page to be load (page 1), doesn't require any permission...it's public....
the only way to aceed directly to this page witouth login is type "?p=2011:1"
there are some way to pass over the authentication schema, just calling the app "?p=2011"
the home link on aplication security is .....f?p=&APP_ID.:1

Public pages and session = 0

Hi,
Just so I understand correctly the usage of session 0 for public pages.
In order to see the "0" in the app_session , we have to call the public page with ... :0: .... in the url ? ex:(f?p=877:1:0)
Does that mean that everywhere in my menus (and reports) , I have to change the &APP_SESSION. by 0 for all my public pages ?
If so , it seems that when I am connected, I than loose my session state if I call a page with session 0 .
How can I use that feature for my public pages that changes when I am connected ?
I tough that when a page was public, the session in the URL would show 0 but the session id would be kept in a cookie or something ?

I'm sorry , but there is something that I don't understand.
For some pages , when I use the session 0 , all the links in that page contains 0
and for other pages , even if I use session 0 , all the links contains a session id.
Here are some examples :
Not working with session 0 : http://apex1.insum.ca/pls/apex/f?p=105:34:0
(you will see that the links in the region "Communiqués" uses session id) (Even in the navbar, some links have 0 some others don't ??)
Working with session 0 : http://apex1.insum.ca/pls/apex/f?p=105:44:0
(links in the region "Petites annonces" uses 0 in session id)
Both are pages from the same application with select 'f?p...'||:APP_SESSION

How To Make A Public Page Parameter (similar to session)

Hi, I'm new to Oracle Portal
I wonder how to make a public parameter that can be accessed from any page (similar to session).
So the portlets can use the public parameter.
Case:
when user logged in, I pass the employee_ID to the session.
Portal pages, which contains employee portlet, and some other portlet depends on employee_ID.
So I think, may be there's a way to set the parameter for once, but the value is accessible until the user log off.
Any suggestion or help?

Let me explain the problem once again:
Page 1 Portlet 1 contains employee table
ID, Name, Address
When I click the employee ID (using event), it will be pass the value to page parameter EMPID
And i want this EMPID can be accessed by
Portlet 2 - Showing sales report
Portlet 3 - Showing report
Portlet 4 - Showing chart
Portlet 5
and so on
Portlet 2, 3 4, 5, and so on is using EMPID as the parameter too,
but these portlets are located in different page
Portlet 2 is in page 2
Portlet 3 is in page 3
Portlet 4 is in page 4
Portlet 5 is in page 5
and so on
First I think about using Package wwpro_api_parameters
but after read further, this package can get and retrieve only
I wonder can this (public page parameter) be done by using default Oracle Portal Tools / API, or I should do some java coding, or something else?

Tried purchasing iTunes music. Put in my apple id and password then i was directed to a 'Terms and Conditions' page. I checked the box then clicked the 'accept' button next page read 'your Session has timed out ' try again with a Done button to click on

Oh the same thing happens when i try to download free iTunes. Yes I have tried & tried it again I even logged off and singed back in-- no joy
After accessing my iTunes account I was not able to change anything like my credit card number when I tried and was sent right to the 'Your session has timed out. Try again.'
The last time I purchased any anything was on September 25th 2011 and the 'terms & conditions' page was last updated on October 12, 2011

I am having the same problem also! I posted on here about it, but no one has responded with ideas. I called technical support and e-mailed them, the only suggestions they gave was for the to turn off my firewall. But I didn't change anything, so it shouldn't suddenly stop working. Maybe this is just an iTunes issue? But it doesn't even recognize my account anymore, and I cannot log in now.
If you happen to get an answer, will you please let me know what works for you?

NEW SESSION - Firefox, IE and GLASSFISH

Here is my issue:
I have One application on Glassfish using EJB3,JPA and JSF.
Users can log to this application and have severals sessions opened simultanoulsy as each session is having a connection to its own database
How do I force a new session (particularly in Firefox as IE<=8 has no issue) and have the user using the same application but different databases in different tabs or windows of Firefox.
I tried almost all and get blocked

My architecture is as follows: using JSF, Glassfish and ...SQL Server!! (! i know but this is mandatory requirement as our application is full web version of an existing ERP application already sold and installed by more than 1000 of our customers...
I am using
JSF-->JSF Managed Bean (Session for some and Request for almost all when logged )-->EJB Interface-->EJB Impl-->Entity-->Database
I have a persistence Unit (using JTA and CMP) per database , each using a connection pool managed by Glassfish.
At the begining of my application, the user (when logging), choose a database, ...enter logging info and connect.
All databases have the schema but not the same data
You have to see in our case, a database as a company with particular configuration, customers, orders, invoices, contacts....
Our application is ERP that our customers uses to managed several companies simultanously .
Also, I need Session Scope as there is configuration data that I need to keep over all pages.
This configuration data is depending on the database connected to.
When selecting the database (company) for combo in logging form, The only way I found is fisrt to check is database(company) exists and can be connect to using at first begining Persistence.CreateEntityMangerFactory.. (i know that this is not J2EE and CMP but merly used in Java SE environments..).
This step is only used for checking database
Then, if creation did not generate a Persistence Exception , I can the use CMP and an EnityManger in EJB by JNDI lookup (as DI is not possible because you need constant in unitName)

But due to session management of Firefox (sharing session cookie among all exe or tabs)...session data is kept when opening a new tab.
What I did to avoid confilcts, is to clear FacesContext SessionMap when redirecting to Login page ...but i still can NOT log to multiple PU simultanously....
I do not see where DAO pattern could help me ...
Am I missing something here?

Problem with Sessions, Servlets, Netscape and Solaris

We are experiencing a problem that is confounding and frustrating us (I have
          a felling that it is something exremely minor that we are overlooking).
          Here goes:
          Context:
          The problem only occurs when using a netscape browser against weblogic
          4.51running on our Solaris 7 box (Everything works fine through IE, and
          through both browsers against our development machines which are on NT)
          Problem:
          We have a bunch of JSP pages and servlets that are used togehter throughout
          our site. They both manage session information for the user. What is
          happening is that there is no problem maintaining session information among
          all the JSP pages, but when we hit a servlet that we use to stream graphs
          back to the browser, it gets the session but it has no contents all of a
          sudden. What seems to be even more strange is that the session is not
          tagged as new (by checking isNew()), it is just empty of the contents that
          were placed it by the JSP pages. Again, this is only occurring from
          Netscape browsers against our Solaris server.
          If anyone can provide any help it would be greatly appreciated. I can
          provide more details if need be.

There is a property in the weblogic.properties file that lets you set
          the cookie name. If this isn't set, the port will be appended as part of
          the name. I've had a similar problem switching between http and https
          and losing sessions.

Internal and Public DNS conflict breaks mail

History:
We set up a new Mac Mini Server to replace our existing Server. The Mac Mini Server is setup behind a Time Capsule, which acts as our router and DHCP server. It also acts as our firewall on the public IP address and forwards mail to our internal server. Our situation is almost identical to the example situation on page 18 to 19 in the 'Getting Started' guide.
Our ISP acts as our DNS server and they host our public website. They also used to host our mail, but we have now moved the mail to our new in-house server. We asked our ISP to update their MX records to point to our static public IP address. Public DNS records for server.mydomain.com also resolve to this IP address.
When we originally set up the new mac mini server, the ISP had not yet updated the MX records. I am wondering if this affects how the Server sets up DNS on the local server machine?
Issue:
The local server machine on the local LAN is called server.mydomain.com, which resolves via local DNS (hosted by our server) to the server's internal IP address. (The local DNS server was setup automatically by the Server during initial installation / setup.) This conflicts with with public DNS records which identify server.mydomain.com with our public IP address at 205.200.19.225. This somehow causes confusion for the server which consequently seemingly randomly resets our domain (mydomain.com) and host name (server.mydomain.com) settings under Mail settings - which breaks our mail service. (We then edit these to the correct settings and all works again.)
I spoke to an Apple tech and they advised that we reinstall the Server operating system, using a local server name that differs from the public name. e.g. server.mydomain.lan (local) vs. server.mydomain.com (public).
*This may seem like a dumb question*: Would it be easier to keep our local host and DNS set up to server.mydomain.com and then rather have our ISP change the records for our public address / IP to mail.mydomain.com or public.mydomain.com? If we could make the change via the ISP's records versus our own, then it would save us a lot of work.
*A second potentially dumb question:* Since we rely on our ISP for DNS name servers, could we delete / stop the local DNS server for the local network and just use straight IP addresses instead?
*Plan of Action:*
Assuming that there is not an easy fix via the ISP's DNS records, then I'll reinstall the operating system and use server.mydomain.lan as the local machine and domain name. If I do this, then what should I be using as the domain and host name settings in mail? .com or .lan?
Should there be any need to manually configure DNS settings to make Mail work?

- Server on a LAN, which sits behind a Time Capsule router.
- The Time Capsule router serves DHCP and Internet to the LAN and sits on our public static IP Address.
- Our ISP has set up MX and domain records to forward public requests for our domain to our static IP address.
- Time Capsule acts as our firewall and forwards Mail and other incoming services to our internal server via port forwarding.
- Local DNS service is provided by the local server so that it can provide services to the local network. Non local requests are forwarded to the ISP DNS service.
*The problem*
We seem to have established that Snow Leopard Server breaks when the internal domain name matches the public domain name, because of conflict between the internal and public DNS which resolve to different IP addresses for the same domain.
*The solution*
I am looking for the easiest and most basic way to fix this problem. My understanding is that the simplest would be to reinstall our Snow Leopard Server to a new and different local domain name.
I am thinking of using server.example.lan for our local LAN domain name - which would be resolved to our private IP address via local DNS on the local server. I would be keeping server.example.com for our public domain name - which would be resolved to our public IP address, which would be forwarded from the Time Capsule to the internal server.
Now where I start getting confused is this: If Snow Leopard Server requires a Fully Qualified Domain Name to do things like send mail, then do I need to register my internal domain name? And how would this resolve from a public DNS server to the internal private IP address? Or is it more an issue where as long as the internal (albeit 'fake') domain name does not conflict with an existing public domain name?
*Other items:*
After setup, I will verify that Snow Leopard Server has setup our local DNS correctly for local DNS service.
If I understand correctly, I would set up Mail Settings - 'Domain Name' as the local domain name: i.e. example.lan and I would set up the Host Name as server.example.lan - is this correct? Would this work if these are not FQDN?
How does the mail server reconcile these local domain names with the public domain names? I assume that I need to check the box at Mail - Settings - Advanced - Hosting: "Include server's domain as local host alias" ? Or would I manually add an alias to the Local Host Aliases under the same tab?

I figured out how to fix the flashing yellow screen problem that I've been having on my MBP! Yessssss!!!
I found this super handy website with the golden answer: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379
I followed the instructions on this page and here's what I did:
Resetting NVRAM / PRAM
Shut down your Mac.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command (⌘), Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
Release the keys.
I went through the 6 steps above twice, just to make sure I got rid of whatever stuff was holding up my bootup process. Since I did that, my MBP boots up just like normal. No flashing yellow screen anymore!!

Report portlet not shown in public page

Hello,
I created a sql based report in a database provider and published it as a portlet. I'd like to place the portlet in a public page so that users don't have to login to see the report content. However, when I tried to do so, the report content can only be seen by users who have logged in and belong to the groups which are granted view privilege. In the "Grant Access" tab of the report, there is no place to make it public accessible as in page access control. I under stand that I can grant view privilege to all users so that they can see the report content, but they still need to login. Is there a way to make the report be viewed without user login?
