Session.xml greyed out

Question

I built a simple test application around five main tables. One of the classes represents data taken from the combination of two tables and another class represents one table with two child tables ie it has one-to-many relationships with two other classes, each of which has a one-to-one relationship with it.
I used the mapping work bench to create the descriptors and model Java code and the Sessions Editor to create sessions.xml. I then moved everything into JDeveloper following the published instructions and successfully ran tests to insert rows into the tables.
Starting with a completely new workspace I attempted to repeat the exercise solely using JDeveloper and making the main business class a session bean rather than a POJO. My code falls over when trying to access sessions.xml. I've tried to create a file by right clicking on Toplink Mappings, but the option to create a sessions.xml is always greyed out. I've also tried putting my old sessions.xml in all the obvious places with the same result.
What am I doing wrong? I'm using JDeveloper 9052(1618)and Toplink 9042(040311)

Not sure on the JDeveloper issue, but in general when looking up your sessions.xml file from a J2EE application you need to provide the class-loader to the SessionManager.getSession call with the class-loader that was used to load the application that includes the sessions.xml file.
i.e.
serverSession = (Server) SessionManager.getManager().getSession("my_session", this.getClass().getClassLoader());
If you sessions.xml file is not named sessions.xml or stored in the root resource directory, you may also require to pass an XMLLoader to the call.
i.e.
serverSession = (Server) SessionManager.getManager().getSession(new XMLLoader("com/mycorp/persistence/sessions.xml"), "my_session", this.getClass().getClassLoader());
