Set execution policy via CM 2012 SP1

Good afternoon everyone.
Sorry about the last question.  I'd attempted to resolve this in so many ways that the last question was based on an old attempt.
I'm trying to set the PowerShell Execution Policy through a batch file.  Specifically, the batch file contains one single command:
PowerShell -NoProfile -ExecutionPolicy Bypass -Command "& {Start-Process PowerShell -ArgumentList 'Set-ExecutionPolicy RemoteSigned -Force' -Verb RunAs}"
If I run this command standalone, either as local Admin or not, the batch file completes and the execpol is changed appropriately.
When deploying the batch file through CM, Software Center shows a successful installation but the ExecPol value does not change.  The batch file within CM is configured to run as administrator.
Any suggestions as to what I may be doing wrong would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks very much.

Hi Narco.
Yep, tried that as well.  Tried Registry /s with a reg file and tried calling another PoSH script under a temp ExecPol of bypass that ran:
set-itemproperty-path"registry::HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\PowerShell\1\ShellIds\Microsoft.PowerShell"-nameExecutionPolicy-value"UnRestricted"
If they're deployed, they don't change the value.
It's almost as if the deployment isn't really running as admin.  I've looked at the execmgr.log but I never see any entries with "Failed" or anything like that.  There are some entries stating that it's "WaitingServiceWindow" but then I later see
the state changing from "WaitingServiceWindow to Ready"
Thanks for replying.

  • SCCM 2012: enable powershell execution policy for SCCM 2012 console

    Hi,
I always get stuck settings up the remote sccm 2012 powershell (cd psdrive sitecode:). Maybe not a real sccm 2012 question but Powershell but wonder what steps you take to make it work (it works on our production environment, setting up in a lab always gives
me headaches, will defintely write the solution down this time :-)).
Please advise what the steps are in configuring remote powershell for SCCM 2012.
1.my personal account "Myuser" has admin-rights in sccm 2012
2.I can open Powershell logged on to the sccm 2012 server then opening sccm 2012 console, connect via powershell
3.however, when I connect remote to the sccm server, I get the error:

4.So I connect to the sccm-server and ask for the execution policy to unrestricted, I get this:

Those client settings are only for the actions performed by the ConfigMgr client. Normal PowerShell actions are restricted to the configured execution policy on the machine.

  • Lync 2013 x64 silent client deployment via SCCM 2012 SP1

    Greetings everyone!
I ran into a problem with Lync 2013 x64 silent deployment.
I need to provide every workstation with Lync 2013 client, so i decided to use deployment via SCCM 2012 sp1.
I created 2 msp files with OCT, one based on x86 Office 2013 Proplus, and other based on x64 Office 2013 Proplus.
Added them as applications to sccm software library.
Deployment of Lync 2013 x86 application was a success with over than 80% compliance.
But all Lync 2013 x64 automatic installations finish with different errors.
I created special device collection for workstations with office 2010 x64 and 2013 x64, because i can't install other architecture products once it has x64 product installed.
My membership query-rules for this collection:
    Office 2013 x64
    select SMS_R_SYSTEM.ResourceID,SMS_R_SYSTEM.ResourceType,SMS_R_SYSTEM.Name,SMS_R_SYSTEM.SMSUniqueIdentifier,SMS_R_SYSTEM.ResourceDomainORWorkgroup,SMS_R_SYSTEM.Client from SMS_R_System inner join SMS_G_System_INSTALLED_SOFTWARE on SMS_G_System_INSTALLED_SOFTWARE.ResourceId
    = SMS_R_System.ResourceId where UPPER(SMS_G_System_INSTALLED_SOFTWARE.SoftwareCode) = "{90150000-0011-0000-1000-0000000FF1CE}"
    Office 2010 x64
    select SMS_R_SYSTEM.ResourceID,SMS_R_SYSTEM.ResourceType,SMS_R_SYSTEM.Name,SMS_R_SYSTEM.SMSUniqueIdentifier,SMS_R_SYSTEM.ResourceDomainORWorkgroup,SMS_R_SYSTEM.Client from SMS_R_System inner join SMS_G_System_INSTALLED_SOFTWARE on SMS_G_System_INSTALLED_SOFTWARE.ResourceId
    = SMS_R_System.ResourceId where UPPER(SMS_G_System_INSTALLED_SOFTWARE.SoftwareCode) = "{90140000-0011-0000-1000-0000000FF1CE}"
My application deployment type points to setup.exe in office 2013 x64 installation folder, where i created msp file in updates folder via OCT and edited config.xml file in proplus.ww folder.
    So my installation program looks like this setup.exe /adminfile updates\1lync.msp /config proplus.ww\config.xml
The same configuration works with Lync 2013 x86 deployment, except other setup folders.
When i try running installation program setup.exe with /adminfile and /config parameters locally, it installs successfully without errors or warnings.
I'm trying to find out problem source, does anyone have ideas what I am doing wrong?
Also i'm trying to reduce office 2013 installation folder size, what subfolders are necessary for Office 2013 proplus installation (still installing only lync with common files and tools)? Because now 3.5 GB package is quite hard to distribute to sccm secondary
    sites with deployment point.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Loading custom modules and setting execution policy to enable on powershell startup

how do I load custom modules when i startup powershell. And also how do I allow execution of scripts as well on startup?
    thanks

    Hi,
You can use your profile to load custom modules when you launch PowerShell:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee692764.aspx
As for the execution policy, just set it once and you don't need to worry about it again (as long as you don't set it for an unusual scope that is):

  • SQL Server Configuration Manager (2012 SP1): "IP All" Setting Not Saving

I have 4 SQL Server 2012 SP1 clusters, and under Network Configuration ->
TCP/IP -> Protocol (tab), I am able to switch
Listen All from Yes to No. However, when I hit
OK (or Apply), I get the message:
Any changes made will be saved; however they will not take effect until the service is stopped and restarted.
    OK, fine.
Now, if I re-open the TCP/IP properties, Listen All is back to
    Yes.
This happens even after I restart the SQL Server service, and it happens on all 4 instances.
I have checked the version of Configuration Manager - 2011.0110.2100.060. I've compared this with a (non clustered) SQL Server 2012 where I can flip the
IP All field at whim, the versions are the same (as are the SQL Server versions,
    11.0.3000.0 Build 7601).
I've also ensured that under IP Addresses, the one that I want to use has
Enabled = Yes, all other IPs have Enabled = No.
Neither BOL nor Google have any useful information for me.
Has anyone seen this before? Bug or WAD (and I'm doing something wrong)?

    Hi,
    Per
Case 4: SQL Server is installed in a clustered environment:
On cluster, you cannot configure SQL Server to listen on a specific IP addresses. You must chose IPALL. The IP addresses on which the cluster instance will be listening on is determined by cluster resources (configurable through Cluster Administrator,
by adding IP Address resources under SQL Network Name resource).
    Here is a workaround:

  • Prestaged OSD using SCCM 2012 SP1 windows Partition variable is not being set

Hello All  I need some assistance with a workaround.
I am using a presaged task sequence created from a working network / PXE deployment TS for windows 7.
This TS sets a variable for the OS partition called "Windows" and the value is set in the Partition Disk task.
Problem is this value is not being read from a prestaged due to the OEMMedia condition skipping this partition and format task.
Question is how do I get it to read and or set the value for that partition?
From what I have found on Google this was an issue in beta of MDT but was fixed in RTM.  I am not using MDT TS but I do have it installed. Any idea if this is a known issue with SCCM 2012 sp1 TS?
Edit: also noticed that the variable's case is different and will not let me change it.
Variable under format is "windows"  variable under Apply OS is "Windows"  when I change them to be the same then close and reopen they revert back to the above.  Are these variables case sensitive?
Edit: for now I have changed it from variable to next available partition.  I tested it twice so far it seems to be using the correct partition and it remains to be called the C drive.  For now this will be my solution.

When you say "presaged task sequence created from a working network / PXE deployment TS" are you saying this is still a network boot process? Or have you done "Create Task Sequence Media"?
    Dustin Estes - MCP
yes when i say prestaged that is using the create task sequence media then selecting prestaged.

  • SCVMM 2012 SP1 (RTM) Deployment from VMM Console fails.

Error During a library refresh, or deployment from template - It all fails:
    Error (12710)
VMM does not have appropriate permissions to access the Windows Remote Management resources on the server (MyServer).
    Unknown error (0x80338105)
    Recommended Action
    1) Ensure that the Windows Remote Management (WS-Management) service is running on the server (myserver).
    2) If the System Center Virtual Machine Manager service on your VMM management server is configured to run by using the machine account, ensure that there is not a group policy that does not allow adding machine accounts to a computer's Administrators group.
If there is, you can use one of the following workarounds:
      - Disable the group policy in Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS)
      - Modify the group policy to allow the VMM machine account in the Administrators group
      - Move the machine account to its own organizational unit (OU) and block the group policy from being applied
      - Reinstall the VMM management server and choose the option to run the System Center Virtual Machine Manager service by using a domain account, and re-add all of your virtual machines.
So, as soon as SCVMM 2012 Sp1 was released we decided that it was best to upgrade so we could utilise the new features of Server 2012 as a host.
The upgrade worked a treat. VM's deployed, Server 2012 worked. Anyway, a few days after deployment we start to see errors relating to WinRM and permissions (See end of the post). After a quick trace around we found some failed services, usually on a host
but sometimes it seemed to happen on the Library/Management server as well.
So, our setup is as follows:
    Management/Library server = VMware  VM, Server 2012 standard, 6 GB memory, 4 vCPU's
Hosts = HP DL360p G7, HP DL360 Gen8 (we have a few of these), Server 2012. We also have a DL380 G7 on Server 2008 R2 Enterprise that fails as well, so it seems the error isn't O/S specific (I'm picking a VMM issue).
So I have tried many resolutions and now none of them work.
We have no restrictions on group policy for the local admin, this can be set manually, and works for that matter.
WinRM is working and the listening port is 5985 (I can see it working and listening via a "netstat -an")
Also, I have ensured many many times that all of the required services are up and running (SCVMMAgent, VirtualDisk managerment, WinRM) and initially these where at fault and a simple restart of each service (or even a full start from dead) fixed
it - Now it all fails. Even a library refresh fails. And all while each of the services required are up and running.

So, I have now tried a reinstall of the management server & made some changes
1- Changed the service account during the install.
2 - Added the service account user to the local admins group of each host in question.
3 - Tried "winrm /qc" .which lets me know its already up and running and configured. Although I must admit, I'm not 100% sure how to use WinRM. From what I can read, this is like an express setup and ensures you are up, running and listening.
4 - Verified that WinRM is working of the right port (Listening ports dump below)
5 - Verified that I can connect to each port required for the SCVMM Management server.
BUT, it seems the error is still there and deployments still fail,
although the library refreshes correctly now.
    Error (12710)
VMM does not have appropriate permissions to access the Windows Remote Management resources on the server ( Myserver).

task fails as no ip address is assigned the NIC , We did download the WInPE Adapter drivers from HP site and injecting to the x86 Boot Image (6.2.9200) however the task still fails ,
Our environment uses all static ip address , the same task as mentioned earlier has worked fine with Different brands of HP elite 8200/8100 , infact the elite 8200 also uses the same NIC card

    Awating response,
    Hasan Reza

Well Finally I sorted my issue ,
Just want to share the solution, may be it would be helpful to some one else and save some times
The problem was that the Xp images has lot of hidden NIC installed , this would not allow the system to work with the correct NIC card and Ip address (System -> View Hidden Devices) , what I did 2 things
    1) Copied the OSD Script folder from the SCCM Server to the Client pc and ran that ztigather.wsf and captured the output , it was evident that it showed capturing multiple adapters , (There are some blogs that pointed out that OSD can capture only one nic
due to the only one Adapter0 section being defined in the ZTIgather.xml file,)
    2) I open the registry at the xp pc navigated to HKLM-> System ->Current Control Set-> Services-> TCPIP -> Parameters-> Interfaces ->
Expect for the NIC card that had the Ip address assigned I deleted all other nic card's guid,
As then post running deleting the old scanstate (USMTUTIL /rd c:\statestore) , reran the task and VOILA..
All worked fine , below are the two post I followed , though notvery relevant but they were helpful and help me reached the conclusion.
    Thanks,
    Hasan Reza.

  • Create Assembly fails in SQL Server 2012 SP1 if an assembly is built with Platform Target as AnyCPU

    Environment:
    Windows 2008 R2.
    SQL Server 2012 SP1 64 bit.
I have a .NET assembly built using .NET Framework 4.0 with Platform Target set to AnyCPU and Unsafe options. The assembly has dependency on few other assemblies and has unmanaged code also. When I run CREATE ASSEMBLY for this assembly I get the following
    error message.
    Assembly '<assembly name>' could
not be installed because existing policy would keep it
    from being used.
However if I change the compile option to x64 instead of AnyCPU, I can successfully create the assembly. So my question : Does SQL Server 2012 64 bit requires assemblies that have Unmanaged code or makes calls to native libraries need to be built using x64
bit option? AnyCPU should not be used?
    Thanks in Advance

    Hello,
The default setting of a Visual Studio project is "Any CPU".SO on a 64 bit system this means the program will automatically run as a 64 bit application and on a 32 bit system it will automatically run as a 32 bit application. But if you have a dependency
assembly which is either x86 or x64, technically your project is therefore not "Any CPU" compatible.
According to BOL: If the the assembly is 100% type safe which there is no dependencies on native code or COM objects and that there is no 'unsafe' code, it is possible to take the .NET executable
that you run on your 32-bit machine and move it to the 64-bit system and have it run successfully.
In your case, the issue may caused by the unsafe code and you should spcify the platform target to X64 to make is run on the 64 bit system.

  • Proper WSUS+SCUP on SCCM 2012 SP1 with SQL 2012

Been pulling my hair out a new build.
    System:
    Windows 2012
    SQL 2012 SP1
    WSUS 4.0
    SCUP 2011
WSUS itself will synch if I set source= Microsoft Update.
SCCM SUP will synch with if I set source= Microsoft update.
SCUP will not connect to "update server" in this config.
SCUP will not connect if I check connect to local update server.  Nor will it when i try to connect to itself as a remote (ie local host or fqdn in Update server screen)
Now whats weird is if I throw a proxy on my spare machine and aim WSUS and SCUP to use it try SUP to FQDNof SCCM host:8530....I can connect
The problem is with the proxy in play I cannot download Dell catalogs as it used FTP not HTTP (Adobe will download though)
Every so often just for fun it will throw "request for principal permission failed.
Anyone that has this working can you please tell me what you have on each of the SUp. WSUS and SCUP screens

Try running SCUP as administrator. This is usually necessary when SCUP is installed on the ConfigMgr/WSUS server and UAC is enabled. heres a guide that may help: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fyEGWSFWyy0 using Group Policy is the easiest wat to deploy
    the certificates as well.
