Set subtitle stream change at a chapter marker

Is there a way that I can set a subtitle stream to activate at a certain chapter point?
example: the video would be playing then at 2:30 the subtitle stream would automatically turn on?
thanks

What I did so far is set a chapter marker right before the chapter marker where I want to to change (ex. I want the subtitle to start at 2:30, I put another marker at 2:29 and attach a script to the end jump)
my script is:
movGPRM0, SPRM7
Set System Stream (Subtitle1)(On) if (GPRM 0 = 3)
---*It's the 3rd chapter in the track
My problem is that after it executes the script and turns on the subtitles, is that it repeats and loops on itself (ex. it loops from 2:29-2:30)
-If I put an exit command, it doesn't resume playback. How can I just have it execute the script at the chapter marker and resume seamlessly??
Thanks!

  • In DVD SP when setting a target use track or chapter marker?

If you have muliple tracks, slideshows and menus in your project and the tracks have only one chapter marker and you have the option of setting as a target, the track or the chapter marker which should you use or does it matter? Also would the same rule apply for setting the "next or "previous" targets in the advanced connections? I hope I am being clear on this, if not I can add more info.

In DVD SP there will be some limits on how you can move markers, they will not be frame accurate.
I usually use the key commands to jump back and forth between markers, then use inspector to nudge
You can also try to just export the Final Cut movie with the new marker positions and use that to set the markers in DVD SP then use the previously encoded video
Take a look here for this workaround that is good if markers do not show up and also will do what you need now

Is it possible to target a video stream (angle) at a chapter marker so that the stream automatically switches from another stream? I have a project with 3 video streams and 1 audio stream. I want to be able to switch the video streams at specific points in the program without losing sync. Any help would be apppreciated.

Is there a PS setting where it can read my Canon Mark 3 5D's monochrome setting so that the files will also appear in the same monochrome structure (instead of appearing in colour as it is now when i open in PS, not even monochrome)? Or do I have to change from RAW each time to Monochrome within PS (even if I have set up for Monochrome in my 5D)?
    1. Basically I am taking photos with a monochrome setting with my 5D and the screen shows monochrome.
    2. when i import this onto my computer and open with PS, it opens in colour.
    3. when I change this to Monochrome in PS. (It cannot read my monochrome setting with my preference of the greyscale mix when I viewed it on my 5D)
    4. my question is: is there a way so that PS can read the monochrome setting from my 5D and display the same monochrome setting as my 5D instead of a different one from PS.

you need camera raw 6.7 or better.
i don't know what version of ps you have so i can't say if it can be updated to use that, but update anyway.

  • Changing subtitle stream during playback of Video track

    Hi all,
Can someone please help me out with changing the subtitle stream during playback of a video track? The subtitle button doesn't seem to cycle through the 4 languages we have on the track.
    thanks!

    hey nipponese (great name)
when you press the subtitle button, does it restrict you, or does it not go through all 4 subs, or maybe even, does it go through more than your original 4?
do you have a menu, or is it just the video, audio and subs?

  • DVD SP2.0 - subtitle stream gets reset when track played

    Hello,
I have this weird problem ion DVDSP2.0 and i haven't found a solution yet.
I have a dvd with subtitles in 5 different languages. I've made a menu where you can choose the subtitle language, now the weird thing is that when the movie track is played it changes the subtitle stream to the first subtitle stream. But this only happens, when the playhead encounters the chapter 1 marker (in other words if the play of the track is "resumed" this doesn't happen)
So it seems like the chapter 1 marker resets the subtitle stream or something.
There's no pre-script attached to the track.
I really can't figure out what's going on...
Or is this normal behaviour? How can I solve this?

I'm having another problem with this job now I've received the check discs. Basically, I'll run through the dic requirements:
-Audio streams 1 and 2 (English 2 and 5.1) require subtitle stream 2 (for Chinese dialogue translation)
-Audio streams 3 and 4 (French 2 and 5.1) require subtitle stream 1 (for French and Chinese dialogue translation - locked ON)
I have First Play set to Audio Stream 1 and Subtitle Stream 2. I also have a first play script set the same (as an 'Immediate Value').
These settings are are also selectable via the Audio Set-Up menu. However if you put the disc in and INSTEAD of going to the Play or Set-Up menu you go to the Chapters menu and select a chapter, the player is by default using Stream 1 (English) with Subtitle Stream 1 (full English).
In our license agreement, the French audio MUST have English subtitle locked ON at all times.
I have set the User Operations up so thatr these cannot be changed via the remote (Ausio and subtitle streams).
Can anybody assist with this? It's driving me mad!

  • Urgent Help Needed: Subtitle streams

I am in the process of completing a multi language information film that has 6 audio streams including English and 5 subtitle streams. Everything is working perfectly well except when I test the DVD skipping a chapter causes the subtitle stream to change? I can't see any reason for this?
Has anybody got any ideas or has come across a similar problem?

I can't see a reason why the stream is changing, but when you skip ahead in a DVD the subs will disappear until the next chapter marker is encountered. This is annoying, but normal.
How are you setting the subs up? Are you using scripts at all?
The more info about the project the easier it is to try to solve the issue.

  • Blu-Ray Stops Playing at 1st Chapter Marker

I am battling an issue I cannot get my arms around.  I have a 3-hour video that I have sent From Premier Pro (CS4) to Encore via Adobe Link.
In Encore I rendered the video as a Blu-Ray image and set the play parameters to make the disc auto-playing.  That is the DVD has no menu start page.  The First Play is set to the beginning of the timeline, and the End action is STOP.
I do not have any Overrides set at all in my Encore project.  I have checked both the disc and the timeline panels, and Override is set to "Not Set" in both cases.
I have Encore Chapter Markers at the origin of the timeline and at every day thereafter of an 18 day trip.
The .iso image file produced by Encore was then copied to discs using CyberLink Power2Go.
When the (Blu-Ray) DVD is put into a player, it starts fine but then terminates play at the 1st marker after play starts (this is actually the 2nd timeliine marker, as the first is at the origin, or zero point) about 9 minutes into the DVD.
When I examine the Stream file  (BDMV>STREAM>00000.m2ts) on the disc, it does contain the entire video, and it plays just fine.
Thus I am assuming that something has not correctly constructed the playlist scripts causing the playback to start at the beginning but STOP at the first Chapter marker it encounters after starting play.
Any thought on how to debug and fix this issue will be GREATLY appreciated!!
PS - I just opened this Encore project and used the Preview function to play the video.  The preview STOPS also at the first chapter marker (9 minutes into the video) exactly as in the finished DVD.
I can find nothing unusual about this marker, but it is obviously the culprit!

OK.  I think I found the issue but not sure why!
When I set the project up in Encore in the Flowchart window I set the Timeline icon (linked to by the disc as the 1st play item) to an End Action of STOP.
Since it was the entire timeline that was my 1st play asset, I assumed that the STOP End Action would be at the end of the DVD.
BUT, apparently it Stops when it encounters the first Marker.
If I go to the Timeline in Encore and click on the individual Markers, all of them but the first one have an End Action of "Not Set" but the first one has "Stop".
I have just changed that 1st (at the timeline origin) Marker's End Action to "Not Set" and the last Marker to "Stop"
I'm guessing this will fix it.  Will report back after I preview things.

  • Bad Chapter Marker: Simulate works fine, DVD freezes

Working on a Choir Concert with multiple chapters. Simulate works fine. But the build produced a freeze a split seconds after a chapter marker. I have changed the chapter location but it still freezes at the exact same spot. If I go to a chapter after the troublesome one, it plays fine. If play fine up to the chapter marker.
When I moved the chapter marker, it played fine, until the chapter marker was encountered again.
The chapter marker was set in FCP 5.1. All other chapter marker work fine.
Below are the compressor settings used.
I will delete and reenter it in DVDSP. But I am curious: why would a chapter marker would go bad?

It sounds like you are saying that "same exact spot" means the spot where the marker is moved to and not the same exact splace on the timeline, and it looks that way based on the rest of your post(?)
The chapter marker was set in FCP 5.1. All other chapter marker work fine.
Could be a few things. First make sure you have not accidently set a command for that chpater maker, you may have done so and Simulator since it is not perfect maybe it is missing it somehow.
I would delete just the one marker causing problems and see if it plays all the way through without the problem marker, and if it works, I would copy one of the markers that works at put it into the spot you want.

  • Chapter Marker Image Problems

    Hi,
I created a movie and set chapter marker. For images I moved the image slider to different locations than default. After rendering the movie chapters work fine but the images are wrong. The same image sometimes appears a two adjacent chapters and other times the image for the next chapter appears at the one before. I didn't have that problem before so I don't know if it is me doing something wrong or if the bug came with the recent 10.0.9 update.
    Anyone noticed the same?

Problem is solved. FCPX inserts a chapter marker at movie start which caused the problem. I set that marker manually and changed the chapter image to the position I wanted it to be. Now all images correspond to the appropriate chapter markers.

  • FCP Chapter Marker Limit for iDVD (muxing error)?

I'm attempting to create disc images in iDVD 7.0.3 for a 2 DVD set created in FCP 4.5. I've exported QT movies with chapter markers for both of my Disc A and Disc B projects. Disc A (1 hr 56 min and 16 chapters) writes just fine to disc image but Disc B (1 hr 40 min and 32 chapters) has given me fits for days, continually leading to "Muxing preparation (project conversion) error". I've tried a number of attempts at fixes per the forums to no avail (checking the placement of my chapter markers, avoiding special characters in marker names, etc.) I've even tried killing the "Scene Selection" menu. Is there a chapter marker limit in iDVD then? Have I really exceeded this with 32? I ask this for my latest test this morning in which I split the Disc B project into two (evenly splitting the content as well as # of chapters between test B-1 and B-2 projects) led to successful creation of disc images for both. However, I want to put the two back together again. Please help. Thank you.

Yes, I've heard that you should have either 15GB or 25GB free on your internal boot drive. I have 17GB available. Incidentally, my iDVD project files and disc images are being written to other drives attached to my system. I don't think this is the issue though since I've been operating in this environment for some time and have mastered a 2-DVD set a couple of months ago (2 hours on each disc) with no issues. I have even created another disc image of my 2 hour Disc A (to fix some editorial changes) with no issues. It's when it comes time to burn a DVD or write a disc image of my Disc B when it becomes an issue. Specifically, did you get the "there was an error during muxing preparation project conversion" error message then? Thanks.

  • Rename/Delete "Beginning" Chapter Marker?

In iMovie '11 (9.0.8) is there a way to either rename or delete the "Beginning" chapter marker it automatically places at the start of your project. I want to use chapter markers in my project, but I don't want one called "Beginning".

    Here's what I do:
When creating my chapter markers in Final Cut I do not create the first marker I want. I set my In and Out points to define the movie, and I move to where the second chapter will be and create that (Dance Two <Chapter>Two) and keep going till I'm done. Export as Quicktime Movie
When I bring the movie into iDVD it creates the correct number of chapters, except the Chapter One is called "Beginning" I just change the name in iDVD .. so I delete "Beginning" type over "Dance One" and that is Chapter One. Save the project to maintain the change.
That way I maintain the correct number of chapters and get the naming I require. BTW, DVD Studio Pro does the same thing .. at least the old version that I use

  • Timecode Chapter Marker Input Field

I would love to see an option in the timeline to be able to input into a field the timecode where you want to have a chapter mark. I edit with Avid and I can set marks then just copy them direct just by making some minor changes. But the biggest problems have been having to redo projects because of wild errors.
    EXAMPLE:
    00:00:11:00
    00:01:16:00
    00:02:22:00
    00:03:08:00
I work with Encore every 2 Months and everytime I'm 99% done with a project Encore gives me some crazy error that I always need to redo my project (4:30am). Sorry for complaining but it's getting really annoying. I LOVE ADOBE but this is killing me.
    Thanks

You can do that now. Click in the timeline timecode display in the upper left corner of the timeline panel. Enter your timecode. Press the "*" (asterisk) key on the number pad. You now have a new chapter.
Just remember that if the source video on the timeline is already transcoded, you will only be able to put chapter markers on GOP boundaries (I-frames).

  • Is it possible to connect audio to subtitle streams?

    Hello-
I'm putting together a guitar instructional dvd and would like to have tuning screens that would allow users to tune their instruments to tones provided on the dvd. I'd like to have users be able to select the strings through using a icons that would be contained in subtitle streams and, ideally, the selection of that stream would trigger the appropriate audio file.
    Does anyone have any advice?
    Thanks...

That sounds to me as if you'd like to put a clickable object into a subtitle stream, in which case I believe the answer is no. You can put buttons over video and make use of the subtitle stream to do so, or you can think a little about ways to structure the section you are working on a little differently.
For example, if I go to a menu which has six buttons along the bottom, each of which corresponds to a different guitar string then I can change the audio by clicking on a button.
You \might do this by using a TRACK as your menu, using buttons over video and adding six audio streams to the track. You would set each button target to go to a short script which sets the correct audio stream and then sends you back to the track. The scripting is simple:
Set System Stream Au(1(audio file info))
    Jump Trackname
You then hear a different audio note each time.
Alternatively, use standard menus, make six identical versions and set a different audio stream into each. Now, set each button to go to the correct menu, which will look the same but sound different.
Whilst I quite like the scripting challenge, the latter is a far easier and more straightforward solution. You can always add video to a menu background if you are needing to, of course.

  • Q about Subtitle Streams / Buttons on Video / Transitions

    Hi all
I have a few queries regarding Subtitle Streams / Buttons on Video / Transitions.
I am currently authoring a DVD where a 4 Button Menu is to appear on a Track. What I need to know most is whether I can navigate to the 4 individual Buttons' assigned assets with a DVDSP in-built transition [ie Fade to Colour].
    More detail follows:
The DVD is educational / and navigatable kind of close to a CD-Rom. The Track with the 4 Button Menu runs for approximately 1 min 3 secs. It can be divided into three main parts. Part 1 duration 0 sec to 15 sec shows video only, Part 2 duration 16 sec to 30 sec shows 2nd video only, Part 3 duration 31 sec to 1 min 3 sec shows 3rd video with 4 Button Menu [using Subtitle Stream 1]... Now, the full 1 min 3 sec track plays seamlessly with the 4 Button Menu Highlights becoming visible at duration 31 sec with their visibility lasting to the end of the clip. The End Condition of the clip is to Loop back to a Chapter Point at the beginning of Part 3 duration 31 sec. The 4th Button in the 4 Button Menu [in Part 3] when activated will Navigate back to a Chapter Point at the beginning of Part 2 duration 16 sec. Buttons 1, 2 and 3 in the 4 Button Menu when Activated Navigate to 3 different Assets whose End Condition is to Return to the Button that made each of them play, at the Chapter Point at the beginning of Part 3.
What I need is for each of the 4 Buttons in the 4 Button Menu when activated to Transition to [using a DVDSP Fade to Colour Transition] each Button's assigned Asset. Furthermore, I need each Asset to Transition back to the Main Track at Part 3 duration 31 sec using the same DVDSP Fade to Colour Transition.
IS THIS POSSIBLE without replacing the Assets that I have already in the Project???????

i'm encountering the exact same problem with buttons over video in dvd studio pro. despite of the fact that the simulation within dvd studio pro works flawlessly, after buidling the video_TS folder and opening it in the dvd-player application, you can't hide the subtitles anymore (you can set the subtitle-streams in the menu to whatever you like but the subtitles never disappear). the same problem exists if i burn or build and format a physical dvd.
help is really appreciated! thanks in advance for every hint!
