Set value of substitution string or global variable

Hi all,
is it possible to set the value of a substitution string or a global variable via sql or something else?
it means is there a procedure like apex_application_install.set_application_alias() to set a value?
Thanks,
Kirsten

So for each file I loop through I have:
T.box = A1 (or A2, A3, etc...)
InTable = true/false...
T.box.setSelected(InTable) or
(T.box.toString().setSelected(InTable), but it still
recognizes the T.box as a String instead of the
JCheckBox.T.box IS a String.
What are the variables you are reading in? The name of the JCheckBox? Do you mean the name of the reference to a JCheckBox? So, initially you have a bunch of JCheckBoxes you created like
JCheckBox box1 = new JCheckBox("Box1");and then you read in the "box1" from your file and another value that indicates whether it is checked or not?
If this is the correct assessment then I would agree with the other post. When you create the JCheckBoxes, store them in a Hashmap(or something similar) with the 'name' as the key and the JCheckBox object as the value. Then, when you read in your values you just do:
((JCheckBox)boxMap.get(A1)).setSelected(InTable);

  • Feature Request - show substitution string values in session state display

    Hi!
    I would like to request that in addition to page and application items and session state values that the value of substitution string values be shown. Another option would be to have a separate link (like session) to display them. This would allow developers to see all of the available substitution values and how they change across pages, etc.
    Thanks!

  • Output a global variable to RS232 module

    Hello!
    I am new in using DASYLab and I find it very interesting, though I have
    this problem: I want to control the velocity of a stepper motor by
    ajusting the value  of a global variable and send it to the RS232
    output module. The problem is that I dont know the output format of
    this variable. How is the sintax of the output?
    Many thanks
    Miguel Neto

    Attached you can find a "complex" example: The worksheet controls via RS232 a small electric engine. The engine understands three commands with format "<cmd><number>", eg. "F500" (set frequency to 500Hz), "D100" (set duty cycle to 10%), and "V450" (set voltage to 4.5V). That "450" means "4.5V" was hardcoded into the hardware.
    Note how the values from the sliders are send indirectly to the hardware: first, the value is stored in a global variable. The value are now modified "behind the scenes" by calculating a global string (see attached image). If that string content changes, the action modules send that string via RS232 output module to the hardware.
    The calculation of the string is necessary to get rid of the decimals after the comma.
    Rename the file rs232_example._zip to rs232example.zip (remove underscore), because the NI forum is unable to recognize the ZIP file created with 7zip app... :/

  • Global Variable in Essbase unable to pull up dimension structure

    Hi!
    I have created a global variable in Essbase using which I want to select a dimension member in a Business rule. While trying to create the global variable in Essbase though, I cannot pull up the dimension structure in the Limits or Default value fields to view them. So even if I leave them blank and validate the business rule that uses this global variable, and if I try to select a member from the dimension that this variable references, I get this error "Null child not allowed".
    In the global variable settings, even if I type in a value manually in the default value field and use this global variable in a business rule, I get the same error.
    This global variable itself can pull up the structure of other dimensions. It is only this one dimension that is giving me trouble. Do I have to make any dimension setting changes? I have checked the settings/security and they seem to be identical to the other dimensions that work fine.
    This is the 9.3.1. world and I am doing these changes in the EAS console client (not the web version).
    Any pointers will be appreciated.
    Thanks!
    NJ

    It looks like global variable cannot handle a hierarchy that is about 1800 members strong directly under the root. So I had to move the members under a 'dummy' rollup member under the root and now the business rule can bring up the hierarchy wrt the global varaible.

  • Can I read/write global variables that are in other PC?

    I attach the vis and the executables.
    My problem is that when I run( continuosly, because in other way, I read the default value of the variable) getvalue.vi and setvalue.vi, I don´t have any problem, I can read/write the global variables, the two vis is running in the same PC.
    But when I do the exe and I run them continuosly , it doesn´t work.
    Any solution?

    Hello Bichillo,
    By running the vis continuously you are running into race conditions. If you cannot control when you are writing to or reading from a global variable, you cannot know whether the value writen/read is the right one or not.
    In your case the global variable value that is read is sometimes the last value writen and sometimes an empty string.
    To make the global variable behave as desired, that is, keeping its last value, the global variable must be in memory when you access it using VI Server. If it is not in memory, the returned value is an empty string. That´s why you sometimes get a non-empty string: when you access the global variable to read its value, it happens to be in memory because you´ve just writen to it.
    To ensure that the global
    variable is always in memory and it keeps its last value, you must include the global variable into your block diagram. I am attaching modified vis that implement this.
    Hope it helps.

  • Issue with Global variable in FM

    Hi experts,
    I have created  two functional modules under same function group and declared the internal table (ITAB)as global variable ,
    i have populated the data to to  ITAB n first function module , and  These FM are used in a program , when i debug the program , the data is populated to 1st FM and but in  2nd function module the ITAB is null only internal table structure is available.
    please let me know the reason.
    Thanks NK

    thanks all, the program ( it also an FM)  ,which is calling the 2nd FM is in background mode, i think thats the reason ITAB values are not populated.
    i ts working fine with IMPORT/EXPORT but my lead says it is not advisable and they are obsolete in ECC 6.0,
    ---> declated iTAB as global variable.
    ---> call FM1 --populate itab
    call function " MAIN_FM" in update task.
       ---> fm2 cllaed in side MAIN_FM,   ( here values not populated)
    please suggest global variable not filled incase of background mode.

  • Setting the value of an Application Item (setting a global variable);

    In APEX 3.2.0.00.27, I need to initialize a global variable to 0 to implement a variable for testing to see if anything on the page has changed. Will update to 1 when certain select lists on the page are changed. Have read through some similar questions and replies within the forum as well as other blogs and sites. So, I believe what I am doing is the way to go about this. Unfortunately, my initialization of an application item/global isn't happening yet. here's a rundown of what has been implemented:
    1) created an application item, G_CLASSIFICATION_ID_NEW in the shared components;
    2) created Javascript (JS) function called by addLoadEvent in the page html header region so when the page loads, the G_CLASSIFICATION_ID_NEW global/application item should get set to 0 with the following JS and using AJAX and htmldb_GET:
    <script type="text/javascript">
    function initVars()
    alert("before get initvars");
    var get = new htmldb_Get(null,$x('pFlowId').value,null,22);
    get.add('G_CLASSIFICATION_ID_NEW', 0);
    gReturn = get.get();
    if(gReturn){
    alert(gReturn.value);
    get = null;
    alert("after get initvars");
    alert("before call to initpage");
    addLoadEvent(initVars());
    </script>
    I've used the htmldb_Get with success for populating other global variables and running On Demand Processes with onchange JS calls in the html form element attributes within select lists on the page. Afterwards, I can check the globals via the Session window and searching on Application Items. Unfortunately, I'm missing something because my G_CLASSIFICATION_ID_NEW never gets populated when I load the page. The alerts all popup when the page is loaded, so I know the script is being executed when the page loads. the alert(gReturn.value) comes back undefined. And, needless to say, the G_CLASSIFICATION_ID_NEW to 0 is not occurring.
    I've tried the htmldb_Get with it calling an application process and without (set to null). From what I've read, you shouldn't need to call an on demand process to have the get.add set the global variable. Then again, this could be where I'm going wrong. however, as I've mentioned, this works for other functions called from an onchange to populate an application item, but the page has already loaded when the onchange(s) get executed. They may work because the page is already loaded when the onchange is called. My point here is that my other On demand processes are NOT setting or changing the global variables at all. The globals are getting set with the get.add(<app item>, <value>) portion of my other JS functions within the HTML Header region. So, I'm inclined to believe that I don't need the 'application_process=<some_odp>' parameter set, but if that's not true, please let me know. if so, what would need to be in the on demand process--ie, what would be the purpose of the get.add(<application item>, <value>) if I set the global variable in the on demand process because that's the only thing I could think of doing within an on demand process for this?
    If somebody can point out what I'm not understanding or failing to do here, that would be great. I'm doing fine with APEX, but wouldn't consider myself a guru with it just yet. I'm definitely not a JS/AJAX guru, and when things like this go astray, I get bogged down because I'm not sure of the problem. So, I'm hoping you gurus who monitor this forum can get me going in the right direction.
    thanks,
    bob

    Hi Jari,
    Does that javascript work if you place it some of region footer on page 22 ?Yes. I cut it out of the html header of the page, and put it in the footer of the first region on the page. It initializes the variable. Putting it into the footer of the first region on the page should work for me instead of having an extra region on the page that's being picked up from page 0.
    Is your page 22 authentication public ?No. This particular page is set for an ADMINISTRATOR only. That said, I am logged in as an administrator. So, I cannot see why setting authentication should make a difference as long as I have that authentication/authorization. Also, there will be other pages where I want to use this script or a similar script, but again, those pages will not be open to the public. the authentication will be "role" based where a user will not necessarily have to be an administrator, but they will have to have a certain role to access the page. Is there a known problem or something that precludes a html header JS script from doing an addloadevent when authentication is NOT public?
    thank you,
    bob

  • Variable or Substitution String in Interactive Report Filter

    Background: I have an application that has a number of customized Interactive Reports where the Filter on the reports is set to a custom company name. When I install the application, I do not want to go through the reports and change the filter for the new company's name. The filters I need to change are all set by LOVs.
    Question: Is there a way that I can do one of the following:
    - associate a Filter with a Variable or Substitution String such that I can set that variable or string on login and then the user always sees the correct Filter displayed in the Interactive Report?
    - or is there a code method to update a sql apex table behind the scenes to reset the Filter to the new value. So that I could run that after installation as part of a customization / set-up time?
    System Info: 4.1.0.00.32
    Thanks,
    Stephen
    I used the IR_FILTER function, and while it allowed for a new filter to be set. It did not save the filter after logout or for other users accessing the Primary report. I could not find a SAVE Interactive Report function. So, my question still stands on looking for a method to set and save Filters programatically.
    Edited by: slsmith on Apr 19, 2012 8:07 PM

    Hi,
    I don't have access to an Apex 3 environment to check this, but I think that the Apex 4 Interactive Reports save the filters slightly differently and an attempt to mimic that functionality using IR conditions would fail.
    The only alternative I can think of right now is to have an additional column that returns 0 or 1 - eg:
    SELECT FIELD1,
    FIELD2,
    FIELD3,
    CASE WHEN (FIELD1 IS NULL OR FIELD2 IS NULL OR FIELD3 IS NULL) THEN 1 ELSE 0 END INCLUDE_NULLS
    FROM YOURTABLEand then apply a filter to INCLUDE_NULLS = 1

  • Setting global variable to be used in a SQL task

    I am trying to create a simple SSIS package to be used in the SQL Task
    The SQLStatement is
    Update dbo.Users
    set FirstName = ?
    where UserID = 2
    Added a parameter mapping for User::strDataString
    From the data manager dynamic script, I included following code to prompt for the value and set to the global variable and then call the excecute SQL task.
    PROMPT(TEXT,%strData%,"Enter value",,"")
    GLOBAL(@[User::strDataString],%strData%)
    TASK(Execute SQL Task,,)
    When the check the database, the table is getting updated only with the default value of the strDataString but not with the value entered in BPC.
    Am I missing any link?
    Thanks

    Hello,
    on which version of BPC are you running ?
    Can you try to make all your SSIS variables upper case, it helped me on earlier versions of BPC.
    Be aware too that if you have an instruction like GLOBAL(STR,some_value), BPC will do a string replacement within the MODIFYSCRIPT variable  : "STR" -> "some_value".
    for example :
    GLOBAL(STR,some_value)
    TASK(STR TSK,....) will be replaced by TASK(some_value, ....).

  • Any way to set global variables except EAS console?

    Hi pros,
    I am searching for a way to set global variables (used by business rules) automatically.
    I got several variables which should change each month. I know the rule to set them.
    However, I cannot find any way to set them through scripting or something else.
    I tried to research EAS repository. The one that I found relevant is HBRVariables table.
    I cannot find any tool can help this.
    Any one knows how?
    Appreciated......
    Casp Huang

    Yes you can use substitution variables in business rules and they are widely used, it is relatively easy to automate the changing of values for subtitution values.
    You can also put a sub var into the default value for a global variable in business rules.

  • How do you override global variable values when calling oraxsl or xsl.exe?

    I am a newbie to oracle xslt.
    I have down loaded the latest version of xdk (10.1.0.2...). (Jan 2, 2009).
    In the past I haveI used micorsoft's "msxsl.exe" to perform my transformations.
    I am looking for a more up-to-date transformation tool.
    I found Oracle's version, and thought I would try it out.
    I have run the "bin/xsl.exe -hh" command.
    I read its help data. It states that variables are
    passed by coding a pramater "-V <var> <value>".
    I have also examined the oraxls.bat file.
    I found the documentation on "oracle.xml.parser.v2.oraxsl" class.
    It states that parameters are passed after the "-p" switch.
    It says the value of the -p parameter is "a list of paramemters".
    I don't find this sufficient information to be useful.
    I can spend days guessing, and I might get lucky.
    I thought it my be better to ask for help.
    I need to pass in (override) values for 3 global variables.
    I saw the method
    "setParam(namespace, variable, value)",
    near the documentation for the "oraxsl" class.
    How do you format the options string to communicate more than one param statement?
    (in either xsl.exe and/or oraxsl class).
    Suppose I have an xslt stylesheet as follows:
    ==================================================
    <?xml version="1.0" ?>
    <xsl:stylesheet version="1.1" xmlns:xsl='http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform' >
    <xsl:param name='a' select='"default_a"' />
    <xsl:param name='b' select='"default_b"' />
    <xsl:param name='c' select="'default_c"' />
    <xsl:template match='/'>
    this is value for a: <xsl:value-of select='$a' />
    this is value for b: <xsl:value-of select='$b' />
    this is value for c: <xsl:value-of select=$c' />
    <xsl:apply-templates />
    </xsl:template>
    </xsl:stylesheet>
    ========================================================
    Now as part of the calling of the XSL processor I want to change the value of these
    three global parameters.
    I want:
    a="current_a",
    b="current_b",
    and c="current_c"
    How do I express this using xsl.exe and its paramter string (-V ????).
    and/or how do I express it to the oraxsl class ( -p (xsl, a,"current_a"), (....) )???
    The syntax for specifying this information is not very clear in either situation.
    Of course I am making the "assumption" that by "param" they are
    refering to "global parameters" (as in my stylesheet), rather than some other global parameters of XLST.
    As an aside inquiry:
    I had hopped that the Oracle's xsl Verion 2 routine could handle xslt 2.0 commands
    such as "xsl:for-each-group", since it handled multiple xsl:outputs.
    From reading some of the documentation it seems it only handles xslt 1.0 syntax/commands.
    Is this true? (or is the documentation not up-to-date?).
    Any help on passing param values to xsl.exe and/or "oraxsl" class is appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Here is the line from one of my testing .bat files that passed in one parameter. I can't recall if I've passed in two, but this will give you a starting point for passing in multiple
    java -cp %CPath% oracle.xml.parser.v2.oraxsl -p show_image='yes' %ValXML% %ValXSLT% As for XSLT 2.0 support, it appears it does per {thread:id=503445}

    Hi their,
    I have multiple data flows doing 90% of the process same. The difference is in source query where clause and target flat file.
    I used the global variables to dynamically change the query where clause easily, but I need help in dynamically changing the target flat file (CSV file).
    What I want to do is have multiple workflows, which will first set the global variable to new value in the script box and then call the same data flow.
    Please let me know if you have any solution or any idea which might put me in the direction to my quest for solution.
    thank you,

    Hi Raj - in your content conversion for lineitem .. read the additional attribute as well.
    Change your source strcture and additional field company_code
    As you are already sending the filename for each line item using the UDF.. it's just you need to modify your UDF to take another input i.e. Company Code.
    or
    If your PI version is > 7.1 use the graphical variable to hold the filename..
    and while sending the company code information for every item just use the concat function to append filename & company code..

    In the job -> properties -> Global Variables tab you set the default value. The actual value used is set when executing the job. Could it be that?
