Setting default user options in client-install

Hi,
In BPC10 MS, is there a way so set user options to a default value in the client that is installed from the Download Center, so that all new users have the same default settings. The ones I'm interested in are the ones below.

Hi Cecilia,
Modify all settings as you want them in your client.
\%userprofile%\AppData\Local\EPMOfficeClient\EPMClientPreference.xml
(path might be different depending on installation)
The specific settings you are after is:
  <AutomaticRefresh>true</AutomaticRefresh>
  <AlwaysAutoUpdateCharts>true</AlwaysAutoUpdateCharts>
  <OfflineOnlyEPMReportsProtected>true</OfflineOnlyEPMReportsProtected>
Once you have set your EPMXLClientPreference.XML as you want to have it you need to distribute it to the clients (I do not think you can do that via the download center)

    I'm pretty sure higher access superceedes, so you could set up a group with no actual access, just to get the preferences working, then their individual security will dictate what they can do. I haven't tested this fully, but I beleive this is how it will work.<BR>As far as setting the preferences, go into the admin console and right click on the group, then select Preferences. To apply the group preferences to a user, add the user to the group, then right click on the user, select preferences and from the upper left corner, use the drop down to select the active preference, in this case, it will be the group you created and added them to.<BR><BR>HTH

    When you use the Canon driver, the 2 sided printing is set in a different location. There is an entire menu dedicated to it (at least on my mx892). The printer dialog box has a menu selector in the middle of the screen (I think it says "layout" by default). If you click on it, you will see the duplexing options at the bottom. Much more flexibility than the single checkbox available with "airprint". The interface is unusual (at least for me) but you can pre-set up many different configurations (Fast Duplex, Fine Single-sided, B&W, Photo, etc etc.)

    I found this for the display scaling registry changes but it is for 125% and it uses 78 for the dword value, not sure about custom 123%.

    According to your description, you would like to deploy some settings about language and display via GPO.
    According to my knowledge, the steps you provided are from Windows 8 clients. Based on my test, you can use the following methods to realize:
    Add Traditional Chinese HK SAR. Locate the registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Keyboard Layout\Preload, and then add a String Value "next number"(which has not been used)=00000404.

    Is there a way to Set the Default User Agent to Iphone 3 and the user agent does not revert back when the Safari is restarted.
    Current when I set the user agent to Iphone 3 and then restart the browser the Iphone 3 user agent is not retained. Is there a way to ensure that the Iphone 3 user agent is retained after a restart ?

    So my question = is there a possibility to set "Internet Explorer 9" as default User agent string.
    How about taking the tack that Compatibility Settings uses?  Its default is IE7 and it is semi-persistent, apparently lasts until you clear your Cookies for it.  So, what is in the Cookie?  If it says make UAS = IE7  perhaps you could
    change it to be something else?  Alternatively, find out how IE7 becomes that procedure's default and see if there is something in that path which is changeable.  Use ProcMon to investigate these ideas.
    Alternatively, on another tack, look at the implementation of the Microsoft list, in IECompatData.xml.   Some, apparently, have experimented with making custom changes in there.  Then a problem would be that they would have to disable regular
    checking and updating of that list or that again, their modifications would only be semi-persistent, and thus they would have to be prepared to periodically, on an unknown schedule, have to be ready to reassert their modifications.

  • Setting default user information for Pages templates

    Over time I've added email & phone numbers to "my card" in Address book. How can I tell Pages which address & phone number to use for templates like Letters etc. right now it seems to pick old addresses & phone numbers (which I still need in my card, they just are not my first choice anymore.)
    (Right now, I'm using Modern letter, but it applies for others as well.)
    I know I could create my own templates, but it would be nice to be able to just use the builtin templates.
    I can't find any preference in Pages or way to indicate a default in Address book.

    Use -and instead of -or.
    EDIT: To summarize, here's how you can get all mailboxes except a few:

    Here's how you'd return only the specific mailboxes you want:

    Before submitting the final command to amend the Default user permissions on every mailbox within the variable, I would like to export the values of these to a .txt file. So, I'm submitting the code below, but I don't know how to push the results out to
    a .txt file (ideally without it also printing the results to the console window).

    Finally got my mini server ordered again (long story maybe later) I will be using it as my main computer and am wondering what is the easiest set up, boot up in single user mode or install SL client?

    I'd like to have a few options set by default when I run java applications, most noteably '-XX:+UseParallelGC'. Is there a way I can set this to be the default either globally for the entire system or just for myself in a config file within my home dir?
    OS is Solaris 9 using J2SDK 1.4.2 if that matters.. :)

    Other than a wrapper, there is no portable way. I thought a while ago Sun's JRE included a jvm.cfg file where options could be placed, but I don't that's going to work. It's be nice if a vendor implemented a ~/.javarc file (which you could actually do relatively easy), but right now unless there's a JRE of which I'm unaware, I don't think any support user-level defaulted options sans a wrapper script.

    We want to set some default setting for a set of the users for BRFPlus gui.
    For Example:
    1. We want to display row no in the decision table as the first column for all users.
    2. In the decision table, we want some columns ( from result section)which are actually in the end  on the right of the screen should be visible as first column.
    I know these can be achieved using user settings. But we want to default this for all the BRF Plus users. 
    Can we create one setup and assign it or default it for all BRF Plus users? Like we do in SAP R3 defaulting menus for SAP users.

    We have already used the blog to hide some features from users view in custom catalog. After your reply I revisited the our code and added few more lines of codes to display row number. But the Row Number was not displayed. Guessing if anything is missing.
    Is it not possible to do at user profile level for mass users. Like we do it for SAP R3 Users?

  • Is there a way to set default PDF options/presets in Illustrator CS5?

    I do a lot of design and have a custom preset created for saving my .ai files to .pdf. It's not a big deal but it's a little tedious switching from the default adobe PDF preset to my custom preset every time I save as to a PDF (Besides the ocassional times where I forget to switch it altogether, having my preset set to default would eliminate that).
    So I guess is there a way to set my custom preset as the default option for .PDFs? Thanks.

    Unfrotunately, I tried that and I guess you're not allowed to delete the presets that Adobe's created in Illustrator
    (Unless there's a way to find the actual preset file in Finder and delete that? Not sure because I've deleted the presets in HD/Library/Application Support/Adobe/ AdobePDF/Settings but an Illustrator Default still appears).

  • Set default account option is grayed out for my main account

    My original main email account used to be the top of the drop-down list (thus default) for creating new mail. Since I added a few gmail accounts, one of them appears first under Inbox and is now the top of the drop-down list. I can't figure out how to get my old primary account back as the default. In the account settings, it says that my desired default account is " a special account and has no identities associated with it". In the Tools-Account Settings menu, the "set as default" option is grayed out for this account. What does "special" mean and how can I return this account to being my default "from"?

    In which case you are using what is normally called Local Folders which is a special private pseudo-account for offline storage.
    Somewhere there will be an actual email account, though if it is using POP and has been set to use the Global Inbox, it may be hard to see.
    Set '''View|Folders|All''' and see it if can be found. If not, you'll need to go to '''Tools|Account Settings''' and look at its properties there.
    I guess at some point you have changed "Local Folders" to something else, which is going to make giving you advice difficult, and will make following any advice more difficult for you.

    I searched as well for a program that can mass update user parameters but i didnt found anything i think the solution here is through a custom transaction .
    The user management is on Solution Management.
