Setting iSight Default with Web Apps

I just recently purchased the 24" LED Cinema display and love it. However I am having a weird issue that I cannot seem to find a fix for myself. When using regular native applications I am able to choose which iSight I want to use be it my MBP or my Cinema display. But when it comes to websites like Viddler, or 12seconds or any other site that allows me to do video direct, It defaults to the Cinema display and I can't use my MBP iSight. Is there any way around this? It gets quite frustrating when trying to do video casts or conferences using TokBox. Thanks for any help you can provide.

The first thing I would try is contacting support or the webmaster for the sites you are using. Ask them if their sites allow you to choose from multiple UVC webcams. It may be that the sites with which you are having problems do not, probably because most users do not have a webcam choice like you do.
If the sites do not support camera choice, and if you can find NO other way, disconnecting the USB part of the Display connection from your MBP is guaranteed to keep the Display iSight from being connected. Of course, it will also prevent you from using the Display's speakers, but you could plug other USB speakers into your MBP's USB port (or you could connect powered speakers to your MBP's audio-out jack) if using the MBP's built-in Speakers is a problem.

You can definitely have different sets of iPads with different apps loaded. When you "supervise" your iPads, you will see that on the left side of the Configurator window there is a "+" sign in the lower left corner. Click it to create a new device group. With this new device group you can choose what apps and configuration profiles you want to install on that group of iPads. Create as many groups as you want to customize the apps and profiles you want on them.

THe built in iSight will actually work with iMovie if you have the version of iMovie which comes with iLife 6. (see http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=61929 for a mention)
There is a slightly clumsy "workaround" available for use with earlier versions of iMovie, but you need a dv cam to use it - see http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20051217210335199
I gather that "EvoCam" - http://www.evological.com/evocam.html - will also work directly with the built in iSight.
So too, should recent versions of QuicktimePro.
As for other apps, tell us what you wish to do with it. We may be able to come up with some suggestions.

Members regular gift contacts with web apps?

Hi All,
Appreciate if anyone can help. I am building an online gift shop and my customer wants the ability for the regular customers to be able to log in and store their friends and family special dates. For example, Wife's Engagement, Wife's Birthday, Sister etc.. Once these are stored, the customer can log in and simply choose the gift and select "Wife" and it will automatically add in the address details to an order form.
I am thinking to do this as a web app, but i have two main questions:
1. Can a web app be created so that a member can only see and edit those contacts he created?
2. How can an order form capture these details after the memeber selects "wife" etc..
Then further on the back of this, say he adds in wifes birthday into the web app, can this then be used by the email marketing to automatcially send an email to customer to remind him about wifes birthday and order gift?

To answer your questions about number 1: You can have a website user login to a secure zone. Once inside the secure zone you can add a form to add a web app item. Once the item is submitted by the user while they are in a secure zone it gets "attached" to their account. When a web app item is attached to a user you can show them a list of their submitted web apps in the secure zone only. You could list these publicly as well but that's not a good idea if it's a collection of personal information like addresses.
My concern with this is I know that BC creates a publick URL for each web app item. This gets included in your sitemap.xml file automatically. The only way to avoid this is to disable the web app item but that also will disable it from being show to logged in users when you list their submitted web app items.
Because of this concern I don't think it's possible to achieve what you want. The web app items are considered public and I don't think there's a way to turn that off. I hope someone has a way around this, but I can't think of one. And because web of the public nature of web app items I don't think web apps is the way to go.
You'd think that you could do it with an extended CRM dataset but I'm not sure how you'd go about it.
Re: Automated emails to your customer. That is possible. BC has a set number of fields that email campaigns use to send email campaigns against. The first one is "Birthday" and the other are open-ended for you to use any type of date-- anniversary, etc.

But, again, there's a set number of fields for anniversary dates right now in BC so they can only add a few of them which might not be applicable for your case.

It is a common error luckily and I believe its only here:
<script data-main="scripts/main.js" src="scripts/require-jquery.js"></script>
When you reference BC scripts etc you need to tell BC to read from the root so when you go into things like a detail view of a web app which is a folder level down from the root where to find the code.
Any script, image, css call etc needs to have a / in front of it.
So ...
scripts/require-jquery.js
Would be...
/scripts/require-jquery.js
And so on.

hi, when i login as a partner, when i click on the help and support, the new help pages have nothing referring to web apps.... even when you search, i can find some old knowledge base pages on adobe, but why is web app help pages missing from the new help pages?

Web app's are not being dropped.
The support change over has just been done badly thats all. Pushing to get this sorted myself so stay tuned.
Web apps are not only staying but down the line will have a full revamp so you can do things like build your own custom blog with them if you wanted to. After that the ability to compile them and sell them on and a BC market place are all things that have been mentioned.

Cannot get double sided printing as a default with Internet Apps

When printing from an Internet App on the 8500A Plus, how do you get the printer to print double sided as the default

The apps found on the printer have their own options. If a particular app can support double sided (duplex) printing, it will be an option in the app itself. If duplex print is not offered as a setting all ready in the app, the only way it will duplex print will be through a possible, future update to the app. There is simply no way of knowing if an app will support any certain feature in the future.

Setting security constraint for web App

Hai all!
I am new to bea and i am trying to set up security constraints for my webaplication..
I want user to be authenticated before he access any of the pages in browser..
All i did was adding following entries to web.xml

I guess you need to set the role that is allowed to log into your application.
try this in web.xml:

File Load Frequency with Web Apps

          I have noticed the following behavior with WebLogic 6SP2 on windows:
          Reload files (such as jsp or html) if the file has been modified would not work
          for web applications except the default application.
          I tried both without specifying any in the web.xml and specifying explicitly (weblogic.jsp.pageCheckSeconds).
          Both have no effect on the web applications.
          Is this a known bug or something i am missing. Any suggestions are appreciated.

I'm new to the Oracle Workflow process. I was wondering if it would make sense to use the WorkFlow Engine along with a J2EE application in the following scenario.
* After user sends his information (from a web page), an email needs to be sent
* The e-mail contains a link, which activates the account when clicked
* If the link hasn't been clicked for a specific amount of time, the e-mail has to be re-sent
If possible, how should the workflow engine be used? Thanks for any pointers.

Oracle Workflow has the concept of timing out activities. For example, you could model your workflow process that after sending the email, it waits 2 days for a response. If no response is received within 2 days, the workflow activity will time out and move to the next modelled activity.
In short, you could model your workflow process to meet this requirement easily. Take a look at the Requisition Approval demonstration process for examples of how time outs and notifications work.

Is there a way to make Firewire iSight work with USB apps?

I am awaiting attival of my new iSight on Monday and I was beginning to wonder if there is some software or a trick you can use to get other chat programs to look at the firewire port instead of USB to enable the programs to see the iSight as a viable cam to use in those programs, or am I limited to using iChat when videoconferencing? I have the iChat for USB software that allows my Piece-Of-S#@% Kensington to work in iChat—making it recognize a USB cam as opposed to looking at the firewire port. Is there an equivalent out there that fools the other chat programs into looking at Firewire instead of USB?

OK, if I read you correctly, these programs such as Yahoo, etc. will look wherever they can to find the cam then? I wondered if they just looked to see if there was something plugged into a USB slot it could identify as a cam and if it didn't see anything there, I wasn't sure if it would look to the firewire port as well. I guess I'll know more when the cam gets here and I try it out, but from what you said they should work as well. 10:30 a.m. estimated arrival time. I'm pretty excited!

Lync 2010 - Can't join to a meeting with Web App, client ok

1. User creates an Online Meeting
2. Everyone can join to it with Lync client installed
3. When trying to join without Lync client (or forcing it with "?sl=") an error is received:
The meeting link you are using to join is not valid. Please check the link and try again.
I've tried it with the lates Chrome and IE versions.
Any ideas?
EDIT: Seems to work with older IE browsers...

From your description above, it is the issue of the wrong suffix "?sl=". The correct suffix is "?sl=1". Please test if with the correct suffix and check if the issue happen again or not.

Office Web Apps 2013 installation issue in HTTPS

I'm trying to install Office Web Apps Server in HTTPS mode but keep getting an error. When I run the command New-SPWOPIBinding -ServerName owaserver, it says "WARNING: The server did not repspond. Trying again (attempt 1of 5)." When I go into Event
Viewer, I see this error for each attempt:

I've installed the Root CA from the provider, registered the .cer files in CA -> Security -> Manage Trusts, and via PowerShell. I've reset IIS multiple times and rebooted the OWA server and the WFE. I'm not sure if it's an issue with the cert or a
SharePoint issue.

Custom module templates for Web Apps

Just wanting to see if there's anyone out there who knows if the custom module templates from the September release are available for Web Apps? I can't seem to get them to work.
When placing {module_webapps,8168,a template=”/custom/wap-contract.tpl”} I get a "No Items Found" response. I would appreciate help as this would be very useful in building Web Apps and I can't find documentation on it

They do work with Web Apps, I've been able to use it successfully. Here is the only documentation I can find on it so far:

Curious though, when you get "No items found" that means there are no web app items to show. So we don't really know if your custom template worked or not. If you can get some items to show up and they use the default layout, then we know something is wrong.

Unifying web apps, modules and apps for better discoverability

Hi guys,
With the rise of open platform apps, and the growth of the developer ecosystem, we are facing a few challenges impacting user experience and apps visibility. The main ones that we see are:
Increase the app market place visibility inside the BC admin console
Reduce the confusion among beginners and SBOs generated by the two very similar concepts (web apps & modules) to which add a third one (open admin apps)
Reduce the barriers in front of partners looking for additional functionally so that we increase apps sales to the app developer’s benefit
One way we’re looking to solve this is to unify the Module & Web Apps entries into a single one called Apps, to which we’ll also add the open admin apps. From this Apps top level entry, partners will be able to see the list of apps (on the long run, the current BC modules will also become apps), add a web app and browse the app market to purchase and install custom apps.
The main benefit of this approach will be a really fast and easy discovery of apps and the app market, which will make it easier for new partners to understand the concepts and also drive more apps sales. The downsides (cause this is not a perfect solution) are that those of you who have built training videos need to reshoot some of the, to take this menu change into consideration and the mix of the custom app with web apps.
What do think about that, or what would you suggest us to do to provide better apps visibility and discoverability.

I understand what you are trying to do and I think it's a good initiative, but I partiall agree with Liam. The Modules and Webapps should remain where they are.
1. Modules are each an indiviual type of functionality that work in a very specific way. They cannot be changed and are core features of the BC system to meet a very confined function.
2. Webapps are a piece of functionality that also work in a very specific way however, they can be modified to meet a specific need within a set of confined boundries. Simlar to modules they cannot be modified outside their acutal scope. The UX is generic and cannot be customised hence it sits in the middle of a Module and an App but they can be built of the fly. From an non-developer partner, this is a very important difference.
3. Apps ( or what ever they are called) site outside the the scope or boundries of Modules and Webapps and can be complety tailored to meet a specific need as well as being an extension BC capabilities. They don't necessary have to rely on BC functionality.
I can create an App that is in-fact a Webapp, or an App that is a completely independant of BC functionality, or re-write an entire module or existing piece of functionality (like an ecommerce app or a News Module).
With the App Marketplace you are not only going to have a variety of products meeting different business needs, but also work and be styled completly different to each other as no UX can be the same without some sort of overlying UI framework. This will become very confusing when the experience in BC become's a hap-hazard collection of different UI's and UX's.
I have to think more about this by my proposal would be to keep things the way they are but have an App Market Place where you can browse download Apps and install them to the specific area like a module, webapp, ecommerce, CRM etc. BUT the UI needs to be consistent.
The core modules of BC is what's used in any CMS. What I would love to see is BC release the Events Module for example, which I can download, customised to suit my needs and replace the current module with the additional features that I want or have been asking for over the past several years. Like adding an event end date with my own custom tag that I can add it for the additional fields. While still keeping the core functionality like list views, and tags.
My last point is that my understanding is that BC was not going to get involved with an App Marketplace? Has this position changed? and how does this affect Brent's works?
