Setting port for Voice + Data

Hi,
I have a 3850 stack (core & access - server or user) and a couple 3750 switches ("user" access) I'm setting up to support a VOIP install.  The 3750s are trunked to the 3850 stack.  All are at current recommended or greater IOS.
Currently I'm trying to determine if the settings I plan on using for ports is correct.  I still have routing to button down but I need the ports proper first.  I'm a IOS/Cisco newb so please be patient.
Pertinent info:
There are 3 VLANs, VLAN1 - management, VLAN2 - Data, and VLAN10 - voice.  VLAN10 will be marked as the voice VLAN on the switch.
The "user" access devices I will connect to a port are either a PC, a Yealink phone, or a Yealink phone+PC.  PC traffic arrives untagged.  Yealinks will send a untagged DHCP request, receive a DHCP data, reissue a DHCP request with a VLAN10 tag, and all future communication will be vlan10 tagged.
Here's what I have put together so far for the "user" access ports.  Command is for one port (I'll use interface range when I actually do this):
config t
: #--clear all settings on port
default interface G1/0/1
: #-- enter interface setup
interface G1/0/1
description VoiceData
: #-- set port to trunk mode
switchport mode trunk
: #-- set port to 802.1q which allows tagged traffic (phone)
switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
: #--we only allow tagged 10, all else is untagged & switch tagged to vlan 2.
switchport trunk allow vlan 10
switchport trunk native vlan 2
: #--speed port init with portfast
spanning-tree portfast
end
Am I on the right track?  Other commands I should include?  Will the switch prioritize the VLAN 10 traffic automatically since I have VLAN10 set as voice or do I need to issue a switchport voice vlan 10 command for the port?
TIA

Thanks Charles, that appears to be working.  Until I get this fully working I'm not going to split management & data, so vlan1 & 10 is all for now.
I'm now trying to get connectivity to the server (VMWare VM).  I don't seem to be able to get any communication when it is set to static in the vlan10 subnet (10.10.1.1/24).  With the NIC in vlan1 subnet (dhcp) it works perfectly.  I tried smartport desktop, smartport trunk, the settings above (both of them) and nothing seems to work.  The server will need to talk in both subnets/vlans.
Server cannot ping out and the switch cannot ping it.  Initially I thought it was a routing issue.  Settings look good though (core switch):
ip address 10.1.4.254 255.255.0.0
interface Vlan1
 description Mgmt+Data
 ip address 10.1.4.254 255.255.0.0
 ip helper-address 10.1.1.13
interface Vlan10
 description Voice
 ip address 10.10.1.254 255.255.255.0
 ip helper-address 10.10.1.1
ip default-gateway 10.1.4.3
ip http server
ip http secure-server
ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 10.1.4.3
I did some dhcp debugging for a phone and it communicates with the vlan1 dhcp server but when it then tries to talk to 10.10.1.1 (VM server) there's no response.
I then figured I had a NIC problem, but with it working perfectly fine with the vlan1 subnet setup my OS appears good.
All this leads me to believe I don't have the port set up properly.
Ideas?

  • LTE for Voice & Data

    So I recently upgraded to a 6+   I have been with Verizon for 4 years & have never used .5gb of data. Now in just 1 week I have used 2gb! I am on my home internet all day. I did receive this text message from VZW;
You recently enabled LTE for Voice/Data & now have Advanced Calling 1.0. Please visit www.vzw.com/AC1.0/iPhone6 to learn more about the service.
I do not understand the advanced calling, could this be affecting my data usage??

You will almost always see a bump in in data use when going from a 3G phone to LTE phone. I hear people say they do the same, but several factors come into play:
    1) browsing is faster so you tend to browse more per unit time
    2) Any media you do consume (audio, video) will often get sent to you in a higher quality and thus more data for the same listening or watching time
    3) You will buffer ahead more due to the speed using data for things that you may never even consume if you go away from a web page or media before finishing it.
My experience seeing 5 people now go from 3G to LTE in the past couple of years is every single one had increase in data. The lowest was a 50% increase and the highest 200%.
I will also confirm that advanced calling does not use your data bucket (it does use data, it just is not subtracted from your limit). Agree with all the above too.

  • Can't set port for IRC in Sharing/Firewall preferences...

I turned on the firewall and was able to specify ports for Bittorrent, but I want to use IRC (it keeps getting blocked, which I'm assuming has something to do with the firewall which I just activated), so I went into System Preferences-->Sharing-->Firewall, scrolled down to IRC and then Edit, for TCP number it has 194 (but grayed out) and UDP it's blank, but I can't alter either entry box.
It's my computer and I have whatever access privileges I need (I think) so at a loss here. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
P.S. Some of the IRC servers I wanted to set up accounts with had port listings of 6667 and the like, that's also why I wanted to specify the number.

Create a new entry with a name such as IRC #2 and add the desired ports to that entry. You cannot alter the ports assigned to the default entries; you need to create new ones to specify additional ports.

  • Set defaults for voice/no effects/no metronome

Is there a way to set GB so it defaults to open new songs as Voice/no effects and no metronome? This is what I mostly use and it would be nice to not have to make these changes every time.
    Thanks

thanks, the template idea will save time.
Indeed, I have one set up with 8 tracks for doing our initial drum recordings. It has all the icons set, all the channels set, metronome is of...
It shaves a LOT of time getting things set up for our recordings. Enjoy.

  • E1 for voice/data

We have an existing NORTEL PBX in the main branch and a NORSTAR key system in the remote branch, with E1 connection in between provided by the carrier (leased line). There are 100 analog voice users in the main branch and 8 analog voice users in the remote branch. I want to utilize this E1 connection for voice and DATA applications. Please advise the solution. Thanks -rommel-

Because you don't say anything about any routers or any other devices capable of pachet switching, I suppose you carry on your E1 link only analog voice. The previous answers point out a VoIP solution...but in the same time you can use for example 2 CISCO 2610 with one VWIC-MFT-2E1-DI interface card on each one of the 2 routers...and beginning from here everything is very simple: a number of timeslots (nx64kbps) from the 30 you have on the E1 link will form a serial interface wich can be used to carry data, and the rest of the 64kbps channels will be cross-connected to the PBX.
This is exactly what I have done with one of our clients which has 2 PBXs connected with an E1 link. Following the same idea, he can now use 1Mbps for data transmission and the rest of the E1 link (14 channels for analog voice). You can adapt this to your needs.
Of course, using this idea you will have fewer simultaneous calls than with VoIP solution, but in the same time you will have the call quality specific to analog calls. (anyway, the maximum number of simultaneous calls you need over the link is 8)...and, of course, you don't have to worry about QoS.
The choice is yours...for example, our client didn't want to implement VoIP.
I have implemented both solutions till now, and I can tell you both of them work nice and smooth...

  • Error in Setting lock for Master Data Load

    Hi Team,
I encounter the following error while uploading the Masterdata
"Lock NOT set for: Loading master data attributes
Attributes of characteristic 0BPARTNER are locked by terminated change run 465451241"
    I Performed the following steps
    1) Checked if any active jobs (change run jobs) running in the system. But no jobs running.
    2) RSATTR->infoobject list-> no infoobject found
3)Tried after sometime ,but load continue to fail
Could anyone help to solve the problem
    thanks
    Bala

    Hi Bala,
Check in SM12 if there are any locks exist with the change run number?
First check if there are any Master data loads running related to it?
Check in the Attribute change run screen if there are any change run steps are running?
Once after checking the above if no locks exist and no master data is running then check the below steps
    1. Run RSA1 transaction
    2. Tools -> Apply Hierarchy/Attibutes Change(or direct transaction RSATTR)... menu option
    3. Click at "Monitor and Start terminated Change Runs" button (at the bottom of the screen)
    4. Click "Reset Status" button at Run ID 465451241
NOTE: this is not recommended, to unlock the locks better to wait till the locks get relased.
If still the error message persists then we can use a FM in se37 in serious cases which was not recommended by SAP...
Use RSDDS_AGGR_MOD_CLOSE in se37 and execute--->there give ur failed change run no(465451241) beside I_CNSID and execute...
It releases all the locks by that change run....and continue with your further work/jobs...

  • VLAN & DHCP Server setup for voice & Data

We have a single SGE2010 in layer 3 mode switch with a Server 2008 DHCP server.
We will be implimenting a Voip netowork where the PC's connect to the voip phone. I would like to create another vlan - 10. I have created the vlan and assigned the IP on the swtich.
Routing seems to be working. I can ping both IP addresses of the switch on either vlan.
I cannot get DHCP working. In the SGE switch I have enabled DHCP Relay, enabled option 82, set my DHCP Interface as VLan1, and specified the DHCP servers IP address. On the ports I have set the port where the DHCP server connects to as a trunk port with Vlan 1 untagged and vlan 10 tagged. I have set the ports where the phones connect as a trunk port with vlan1 untagged and vlan 10 tagged.
The PC connected to the phone gets an IP from the DHCP server just fine.
The phone does not get an IP address
The scope has been set up on the server.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks

Uh, I spent HOURS on this. I entered the interface for the DHCP server incorrectly. I thought you entered the interface the DHCP server was on.

  • Open ports for all in LAN

Hi, a few days ago I bought a wireless router WRT160n. I want to ask how to open some port for all in LAN(3 clients). For example all in LAN have PeerToPeer application for torrents. I want to open port for example 20202 for all. Now I open port from menu Applications & Gaming->Single Port Forwarding, but I must set port for each user IP address.
Can somebody tell me how to open port for all in LAN without to config for each computer?
    Thanks in advance.

Hi gv. I read more about UPnP and the WRT160n User Guide. In section Administration>managment int wrote that UPnP is Enabled by default in my router it is corect. I Setup mu PeerToPeer(eMule) TCP/UDP ports to 20202 and check option "Use UPnP to setup ports". I test and close this port on my router configuration for my computer on "Single Port Forwarding", but in eMule the port is still block. Can you explain why it did not work. For UPnP it says that if Enable it allow users with Windows ME and XP automatically to gonfigure Router ports
    Thanks in advance!
    Best Regards.

  • Can there be more than one port for the same logical system

Can we have more than one TRFC port for tranferring data from one logical system to another?
The requirement is to transfer same basic idoc type from one logical system to another through two different ports. Is it possible?
For eg. some specific data (country specific) for the same basic idoc type can be sent through a separate port and the other data through a different port inorder to distinguish between the two.

    Hi Shital,
I don't think so. Because of that what i told you. There would be a dirty trick (back routing) to solve your issue. But its quite difficult and not standard. You create two http receiver services  and two http sender services. You route your message depending on payload to the one or the other http receiver channel. The receiver is in both cases: THE XI! Now you have a second message, which you  can route to IDoc adapter. But in this case you have different sender and in the receiver determination you can put the sender, so you will be able to use different communication channnels and so different ports / destinations.
Advantage: Your task would run, no performance problem (http: very good, asynchron)
Handicap: You see every message double in the monitoring, the scenario is not easy to understand and it is a big task 4 other people to change it.
    Regards,
    Udo

Make sure router is up to date. Try ethernet to rule out any wifi issues. Reboot ATV and router.

  • How do I create a data set ready for a batch input session

    Hi:
I don't know how to create a data set ready for an BATCH-INPUT SESSION.I know that with the function BDC_INSERT make de input online, but my requirement is that generate the data set and left to the user get in de SM35 transaccion and decide to him if it's execute or not. I have all the information in a BDCDATA table.
    Any clue would be great!!

    You just have to do:
    BDC_OPEN_GROUP (Open new batch)
BUILD BDC DATA (Your own code)
BDC_INSERT (Insert BDC data you have built in step 2)
    BDC_CLOSE_GROUP (Close batch)
This will just create a new batch and it can be processed in SM35.
    To build BDC data:
    LOOP AT your_input_table.
<<here you have to use the code generated from recording in  trasaction SHDB>> (i.e. bdc_dynpro and bdc_field performs)
    ENDLOOP.
