  • XP software disc does not work on 8.1 HP PSC 2355v All in One Printer

Please excuse my novice actions in the subject description as I put my problem and request there. Basically: My XP software Disc will not work on my Windows 8.1 computer for my HP PSC 2355v All In One Printer.  Needless to say I can print with a downloaded driver but can not use the Managerial software on the XP disc.   When I try to work from the printer it does not recognize the computer, so  is there HP software out there that can be downloaded simply to my computer? If  so, Where and How can I get it. Thanks again.

    Hi,
Unfortunately no more support after Vista but you can use basic function of the printer using the following instructions:

  • (Resolved) Windows 8 - Recovery Discs Do Not Work With New Hard Drive

    Update:
I decided to buy drive cloaning software.  I cloned my drive, that resolved the problem of installing the OS on the new drive.  Too bad neither HP's Restore disc's or this support fourm could help with this issue.
    Origional Post:
    Product Name:  HP Pavilion G4-2235DX
    Product Number:  C3Q50UAR#ABA
    BIOS:  Insyde F.26, 2/21/2013
    Processor: AMD A6-4400M APU w/ Radeon HD Graphics, 2700 Mhz, 2 Core(s)
    BIOS Mode:  UEFI
    SMBIOS Version:  2.7
    RAM:  12GB
    Operating System:  Windows 8 - 64bit (6.2.9200 Build 9200)
Situation:  I purchased this computer new as a refurbished model from a retail store.  I created system restore discs after initial setup using the HP Recovery Media Creation Utility.  This system has a 500 GB hard drive.  I purchased a Western Digital 1 TB hard drive to upgrade the drive in this notebook.  After swaping out the drives and trying to load the recovery onto the new 1TB hard drive in the same computer, an HP dialogue so states "This PC is not supported by the System Recovery Discs. You will not be able to continue to recover this system with these discs."  It gives a code (doesn't call it an error code) 0110-C3150UQ43#ABA underneath and only option is okay, the system reboots and follows the same pattern again and again.
I have upgraded drives in the past on Vista and 7 the same way using self created HP recovery discs with no issue, I do know what i'm doing.    I've seen discussion mentioning BIOS issues and other such problems.  I did try updating the BIOS to the one on the HP Support page (2013-03-01 , Version:F.26, 7.76M) and the recovery discs still will not work.  I found the CyberLink Recovery Discs Utility thread, however this solution/software has no support for Windows 8.  I have tried to run the utility and it fails, tried with compatiabity and it failed.  Why is this happening and what can be done to resolve this problem?
I tried using chat support but it won't let me get through to anyone, claiming my warranty is expired.  I just bought this computer 3 days ago and was assured a 90 day warranty.
    Please help, Thanks.

    Information on the warranty:
Refurbished computers are often erroneously marked as out of warranty, but it is simple to fix, and a phone representative could have corrected that for you. All computers' warranty start dates begin on the day they leave the factory. HP knows that there will be a period where the computer will sit on a shelf (for days or months) at the retailer. With refurbished computers, their 90-day warranties begin on the day they are refurbished. HP has no way of knowing what date the customer will buy the computer so the warranty start date stays the same until the customer registers the computer providing the date of purchase for the warranty system to be updated. If the registration process fails for some reason (rare, but it happens), phone technical support has a process they can initiate to have the warranty corrected. They only need a copy of the receipt showing the date of purchase.
I hope this information helps! Please let me know if you have any questions and thanks again for you post!

  • Email Setup Application Does Not Work After Update

I seem to be having the same problem as others with the email setup application.
When I updated my Blackberry to the new OS6, I went to my email setup and it said "looking for updates"
It finds a new update from my already installed email setup app 6.0.0 to the new 6.11.0419.0755.
When I click "download" it says replace existing version? I click "yes"
The it says: "com.rim.bis.client" contains a different version of module "net_rim_bis_client" which is also used by email setup application. If you proceed, "email setup application" may cease to function properly. proceed?
If I click "yes proceed" it crashes my blackberry and it will not reboot and I have to do a complete hard reboot, wipe the device and reload everything from my backup on blackberry desktop.
If I click "no" not to proceed, I cannot open the email setup application.
I have tried downgrading to version 5 of the OS, I have rebooted with a battery pull, crashed my blackberry twice and spent hours reloading all my applications and systems.  I am at the end of my rope, and I don't know what else to do?!
If there was a way to turn off the automatic search for updates on my device under the setup and email settings, i think I would be able to set it up in the older version 6.0.0
    HELP.

    yep same problem here
i had this problem and got a replacement handset.
i have had to do an update and got the same issue yet again.
The funny thing is, is when i got my new handset i had to run the email setup application and it worked fine.
now its failed and i have to boot in safe mode and wipe etc.
Will someone sort this out???!! O2, Blackberry whoever. Shambles!

  • Recovery discs do not work with new hard drive

Hi I have come here desperately seeking help as I am not too knowledgeable with the workings of computers and I have spent an incredible amount of time just trying to get my laptop to some level of functionality.  I purchased a HP Envy and it had a corrupt hard drive which would not work from day one, laptop was new.  After a year of constant pressure on HP they finally decided to replace it and let me choose any laptop so I went with the Beats Envy 14 as it was the best one offered from the selection.  Low and behold the thing would not work properly from day one, again my brother who is much more of an expert said that there was definitely a hard drive issue so for the past 3 years I have put up with a computer that constantly crashes with BSOD, where I have lost data on numerous occasions (only so often I can back up), that I have had to constantly reset the thing using HP recovery discs, and that generally cannot cope when performing multiple tasks.   HP are most certainly shocking builds from my experience.  Then just last week the hard drive just craps itself and the laptop no longer will boot up.  I took it to a guy to get it at leYst working again so he has installed a new hard drive but with an old version of Windows 7.  I want to go back to the Windows version I was akin to on the HP recovery disk , and essentially have it all set up as before except for now having a workable hard drive however I get the message:  "This computer is not supported by the System Recovery Discs. You will not be able to continue to recover this system with these discs.Error: 0100 - 3385 - 3078" I also tried out of interest to load my old Windows 7 disc I had and XP but had no success.  Tried booting from startup etc and various things suggested on help forums.  Please tell me I am not stuck with this version of windows.  Whilst the discs included Windows 7 it was a totally different version, this home premium one is terrible. Any help/advice would be gratefully received. Thanks

no they were both 500gb. I read about that already, I heard about creating a partition for recovery etc but this is all a bit above me , as I said I am not very technical when it comes to the working of a computer.  These discs worked perfectly before but now with the new hard drive will not load at all.  I essentially hate the Windows Home Premium verions the guy who fixed it put on, whilst the discs had Windows 7 on them the icons were way smaller, the desktop neater, the buttons different, everything was a lot more modern and I was used to it.  This version looks like something from the 90s, have to constantly adjust size of Mozilla when browsing as it is huge.  I have my own version of Windows 7 on another disc but the hard drive will not let it load either........considering waiting for Windows 10 but again unsure if this new hard drive will even let that update Thanks

  • No OS on drive so need to reinstall Vista OS before 7 upgrade but Vista discs do not work

With regard to the information below the recovery discs were made when the laptop was new and they won’t work now. How will these discs that can be ordered differ from the ones that were made? The laptop was not a refurbished model.
No offence, but free discs with a $25 delivery charge are not really free. Besides, I am currently traveling in Brazil and it would not be practical to have discs sent here, especially if they did not work. If they are free where can I find a free download? Or, what can a local tech shop do to enable me to install my Windows 7 Professional which I purchased from the Microsoft Store?
    Thanks.

Recovery media [ New ] Options 01-16-2009 04:44 PM - last edited on 10-01-2010 02:12 PM All new Toshiba laptops ship from the factory with the ability to run the system recovery process from a hard disk partition, and with preinstalled software that can be used to record recovery media to blank discs. Toshiba recommends creating recovery media to ensure the ability to run a system recovery even if the hard disk recovery partition is damaged or deleted, or if the hard disk breaks. Reconditioned laptops may not include this recovery enabling software so may require that recovery media be purchased. Recovery media can be ordered online. Click here to begin the order process. There is no charge for the software itself, for which customers already own licenses, and as of 10/1/10 the shipping and handling charges for delivery of recovery media in the US is $24.95 for DVD media or $34.95 for USB sticks. • Satellite L505-s5993/windows 7 factory system recovery and recovery disc did not work

Hello, I tried the free factory restore but it would not work.  I ordered the restore disk from Toshiba.  The instructions on the disc say to insert disk, then press "c" while turning on.  This does not work.  I have pressed f12 and booted from dvd/cd.  this did not work.  it starts downloading window files, windows emblem does it's little dance goes away and i'm left with a blank screen and my cursor.  Should i just throw the thing away or is there something else i can try.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  FYI-I have a Satellite L505-s5993/windows 7

  • Command and Conquer 3 game disc will not work

    Hi
I Just brought this brand new. It got shipped to me yesterday and when I put the disk in my mac, it just spins around and then ejects. I put in dvds and cd's and the worked fine. But this will not work.
Can any one help? or is it a busted Game disc?

well, i'm glad that i'm not the only one with this problem. i got it for christmas, so of course i tried opening it and playing immediately. this didn't work though. just for kicks, i had my friend try it on his macbook pro. exact same model. his, however, worked. and i KNOW for a fact that he didn't have the patches. i downloaded both 1.08 and 1.09, but neither of those appear to have helped too much. i'm going to bed in the hopes that perhaps tomorrow morning it will magically work.
if anyone finds a solution overnight, i would really appreciate it

  • My setup disc isn't working

It doesn't auto-run, and when I run it from My computer, it immediately "encounters a problem" and needs to close.  Did I get a defective disc, or is there something I can do to fix it?
EDIT:  Actually, if it's possible to set up my WRT54G router without using the setup disc, please let me know how.  Thanks in advance.

  • Harddisk not found by Windows-XP-Setup + RnR does not work at all !?!

    Hi all,
I wanted to recover a my system (R61, 8943-DKG) using RnR from the Windows XP-platform. It took more than 24 hours and "finished" with a reboot saying "windows could not be startet, as the following file is missing or has been damaged: \windows\system32\c_1252.nls. You may try to repair the file by starting the Windows setup from the  original CD. Use the "R"-Option to start the setup-repairing" (this is my translation of the german message I got, the exact english wording thus might be different).
Two problems occur and leave me with no options/ideas at the moment:
    1) Starting the "R"-Option or the "install new"-option of a windows setup from an XP-CD (from another machine, the ThinkPad came without any CDs/DVDs), gives me the message "no harddisk could be found". In the BIOS the harddisk is found an the hardware check passed.
    2) Pushing the blue Thinkvantagebutton while booting starts the Rescue and Recovery software, but after "configuring your system" the laptops reboots, so no chance to start RnR !?!
My questions to the honoured community:
    a) Is there any chance to make the harddisk "visible" for the XP-Setupprogram?
    b) Do you have another idea how to start the RnR-software in order to at least reinstall windows-XP freshly from the harddisk?
Thanks in advance for any help!
    JoerchS.

    Hi JoerchS,
    1. You need to go into BIOS and set 'SATA AHCI' mode to 'Compatibility' under hard disk drive option for your HDD to be seen by Win XP CD.
    2. Sounds like the partition has become corrupt. To recover you system again, recovery discs are needed. If you have not created recovery discs in advance [http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-70804] then you will have to obtain them from lenovo usually for a fee.
    Hope it helps.

  • Recovery disc does not work for Satellite A100-197

I am working on a A100-197 that would not boot into ordinary Windows but was able to boot into Safe mode.
I used MSConfig to turn off everything at startup and all non-MS services. No good.
I used system restore. No good.
I scanned for viruses, rootkits etc. None found. No good.
I copied data to another hard drive using safe mode with networking and inserted the recovery DVD.
Went through unpacking and got message telling me to remove DVD - did this and system appeared to freeze.
Hit the exit button and it rebooted but Windows froze (the moving blobs stopped moving). Tried safe mode
but got a message saying that the system installation did not finish.
Tried the recovery again but this time I left the unpacking screen at 100% overnight to see if
it did anything. It didn't. Clicked exit and got the same as above.
Formatted HDD in partition magic and tried again. No good.
Created 5GB FAT32 partition and copied DVD files to FAT32 partition. Tried to run the unpacking program
from DOS. It refused to run in DOS mode.
I'm thinking of linking the hdd to another machine and running RecoUnpack.exe from a working PC to
unpack the image files onto the laptop HDD, but this is crazy - the recovery disc is supposed to recover the
system. What else can I try?

Thanks Dennis. I was starting to think similar things myself.
There was a program installed called Daemon Tools which uses
SCSI Pass Through Direct (SPTD) layer. My analysis suggested this was the rogue
program but I followed all the uninstall procedures and couldn't seem to solve the problem.
I don't suppose (and I've never had anything like this before) that it could have fouled up
something in the hardware layer? I tried resetting the BIOS to default settings. Maybe I should
flash the BIOS? Could it have altered any other ROM on the laptop? Is there other ROM on
    the laptop?
I hate software that ruins computers! Why can't people just use their b***** machines for sensible
    things?

  • A mini disc will not work in superdrive.  How would you suggest I retrieve the data from a mini disc to my macbook air?

Reading the previous comments, I understand the last thing I want to do is stick a mini-disc in my superdrive.  Not too super, but never mind.
Any suggestions as to how I can read it?  It has the user's manual for my new actioncam.

buy a tray loading LG DVD drive from best buy or amazon.com
    theyre only $30
they work perfect on the Air (i know)  and have a MUCH longer cable for ease of use than does the superdrive.

  • 10.4 dns setup correct but not working

i was working with a client to set-up VPN on an Xserve running 10.4 server; the server has been running fine for over a year and a half. We followed Apple instruction to connect the cable modem to one ethernet port (PCI), and left the internal network on the built-in. this seemed to work ok, but after running thru the Gateway Setup Assistant DNS no longer answers requests for the internal network.
I've checked the named.conf file and everything there is correct and as it was before. the same with the zone files in /var/named.
the only thing that seemed odd to me was that the resolv.conf file points to the external dns servers and not the internal server. I don't remember what they were wet-up with before, so i'm not sure if this is correct.
the server points to itself for dns in the network system preference on the internal network, but the external network gets its information via dhcp.
the only other thing we changed was to turn on the firewall and vpn.
since dns isn't working neither is kerberos even though the service is running. I'm assuming this is related and will work again once the DNS issues are resolved.
    any thougths?

If this machine is a nameserver for internal, then port 53 will need to be open on the firewall for the internal interface, and the external interface will have to allow responses from port 53 both TCP and UDP.

  • HT1661 Target disc mode not working

My target disc (Macbook Pro) shows the firewire icon but nothing shows up on the host (PowerMac). I've tried several different ways and enabled it to show up in preferences. I don't have any other firewire device plugged in. I'm using a brand new cable. Thanks

    cherylfromvenice wrote:
The cord was a very inexpensive one I got on Amazon. Could that be it?
It's certainly possible. Anything else you could try it on?
Also, there is only about 4MB of storage left on the host hard drive, though that shouldn't keep the target drive from showing up.
4MB??? I've never seen a situation like this, but I suspect it could indeed prevent the Target from showing up. The Host needs some overhead to make things work.
I'm running 10.4.11 on the host and Snow Leopard on the target.
I was going to suggest running Software Update on the Host, but with only 4MB of space, it couldn't install anything anyway.
The target is so full it won't show me anything but Safari, not even the finder, but it is going into target mode every time no problem.
Well, that kills my other idea. I was going to suggest switching Host and Target around.
At this point, I'd suggest getting some external storage so you can offload at least 10-15GBs (ideally, you never want to go under 15% free space available). Then try again.

After spending a frustrating hour trying to make sense of this issue and making phone calls to the appropriate number, I still have a non-working CD version of Photoshop CS6/Win that will not load. The disc is obviously corrupted. What happens now, as this program is now required. This place appears to be the only way I can get any assistance from Adobe regarding this issue.

You can try downloading the cs6 installer from here:
