Setup Solution Monitoring in Solution Manager 3.2

Hi,
we want to setup the System Monitoring with transaction SOLUTION_MANAGER. We followed shortcut "Operations Setup" and chose Solution "Monitoring->System Monitoring".
There should be a button "Setup System Monitoring" that is missing!
Any idea how to make it appear?

Steve,
Please give me your email address, I will send you the screen-shot? if you do not want to post the email address here, please send me a test mail to [email protected], I will send you the screen shot.
For your questions:
Do you see the monitoring graphic (the box with the system name in it)?
No, I do not see that.
Do you see the Alert Overview button?
Yes, I could see that button.
If so, does it show any alerts when you click it?
when I click on that. All I See a white empty space.

  • Solution Manager to Monitor SAP NetWeaver Portal

    Hi ,
I have setup Solution Manager 4.0 SP11 and I have a production EP.
I want to monitor the EP using Solution Manager.  The monitoring would check if the portal is down and if it is down, the Solution Manager would send a email to the Portal Administrator.
In order to achieve the above monitoring setup, do I need to install Solution Manager Diagnostics?
I do hope to hear from you soon.
    Thanks.

  • 1 Solution Manager System - Mulitple Companies.

    Hi All,
Please provide some input/information regarding one Solution Manager system with multiple companies.
    Situation:
We currently have one Solution Manager system(SMP) that belongs to a main company. Under this company there are 5 separate companies. Each company including the main company has multiple SAP systems with different landscapes. Main Company - ECC6 landscape, BI 7.0, Portal, XI and HR Landscape. All other companies have their unique systems/landscapes with their own support personnel.
    Issues at hand:
How do we setup Solution Manager to run multiple companies? Do we setup different Solution Landscapes and add each company systems to their own landscapes. How does this effect Service Desk/Charm setup ?
We also want to implement Service Desk / Charm / EWA and all the other functionality that is available in Solution Manager. Is there any advise on this issue and what are the potential pitfalls.
Is it possible to be setup multiple clients and have each company work in its own client.
I would appreciate any advice and information that will assist us with making an informed decision on the best way to proceed with this. I have done research and cannot find any information pertaining to this type of scenario. I'm hoping there are other customers that have a similar problem/issue.
    Thanks and regards,
    Ricky

    Dear Ricky,
You are right. You sould create multiple solutions u2013 a solution for each company. Each solution comprises the landscape (systems) relevant.
I don't think setting up multiple clients and have each company work on its own client is a good idea. The solution manager supports monitoring and managing multipal solutions. By creating multiple clients you are loosing the advantage of one-point-of-entery. Besides, a lot of the customization in the SolMan is cross client.
    Regarding the service desk:
You may create a sold-to-party business partner for each of the companies (transaction BP) and assign each sold-to-party only to the relevant system/iBase in transaction IB52. This will allow you to screen the messages in the service desk by a sold-to-party/company.
    Regarding the EWA:
The EWA monitors the systems in the solutions. You may have as many solutions as you want.
    Regarding the Charm:
Sorry, we didnu2019t implement it yetu2026 you should keep asking abour that.
If you would want to use Business Process Monitoring - this is solution based, so I don't see any problem there.
    Hope it was helpful.
    Good luck!

  • What can Solution Manager 7.0 provide for PI 7.1?

I work with PI 7.1 EHP 1 and have been asked to determine if time/resource should be invested to setup Solution Manager 7.0 EHP 1 to provide monitoring/management of PI. I attended SAP TechEd 2011, and there was a lot of discussion that SM 7.1 would be a significant part of monitoring for PI 7.3. However, since I'm not on those platforms, can you help me understand what SM 7.0 can provide me as a PI Administrator/Support over what I use now (Runtime Workbench & SXMB_MONI)?
The Solution Manager resource on the BASIS team mentioned that SM takes a lot of configuration and I'd have to learn about Business Process Management to make it do anything useful. What I saw at TechEd showed a nice start page that showed data volume, errors, and nice graph. Perhaps that is only for SM 7.1, but it seemed like a nice data view capability.

    Hello Tadd,
Wily Introscope will provide you with nice (also real-time if you want) metrics for your PI system (dashboards). You can check for some details here:
    http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/index?rid=/library/uuid/f0b96675-87cf-2c10-b489-dee0ac03f782
Solution Manager requires additional steps in order to be able to configure this monitoring scenario. Once your solution manager is installed and running you have to perform initial configuration -> basic configuration -> managed system configuration
In the last step you'll actually configure diagnostics and willy for your PI system.
If the number of managed systems that you have to connect is small this "3 step" configuration can be done in a couple of weeks.
    Cheers,
    Diego.

  • Email Solution manager task report session

    Good day,
I am currently tasked with generating task session reports from solution manager. Systems I am reporting on are ECC 6.0, BI, CRM & PI. I can generate reports fine, however I would like to setup solution manager to send these task session report to a list recepient vial email directly from solution manager. It should be like EWA reports send via email in this case I want to send task session report after I have completed the checks.
    1) Is it possible to setup solution manager to do that?
    2) I want to be able to highlight all issues that I have picked like how EWA highlights its alerts.

    Hi
the task "early watch alert for solution manager" created automatically when did you perform the task "refreh session" or "Maintenance Package"
please create the  relevant task, via : SDCCN -> Task -> Create ->Request session data ->Periodic -> Earlywatch Alert -> Continue.
'Schedule' the start date of the first session  and - Task -- create Click on 'Refresh sessions' - Press 'Enter' - Select 'Now', to schedule the job 'immediately. once you create the relevant tasks you go by,  in the Menu -  Goto -> start - to activate the Earlywatch alert session Now, you can check the finished EWA task in 'done' tab.
Login to Solution Manager, goto trx. DSWP --> Select your solution, Solution Monitoring - Earlywatch alert -  Click on Earlywatch alert --> start service processing --> Press 'OK' to start the background job - click 'Refresh'
Now, you can see the 'Early watch alert' in the green colour .

  • Using HR data in R/3 to create business partners in Solution Manager

Is it OK for me to setup Solution Manager to automatically download HR data from R/3 to create the Business Partners (employee role) in Solution Manager?
We have setup SAP CRM 4.0 to automatically download the HR data and create Business Partners (employee role) in CRM.  Since Solution Manager has the CRM component in it, I assume we can do it as well in Solution Manager.

  • Solution Manager Security

    Hello,
I'm responsible to setup Solution Manager to provide Enterprise Support to the customer. I would like my customer to use Solution Manager by using Internet VPN connection. In the middle of preparation, I have some questions for Solution Manager Security. Because our company has very strict security policy, I need to make sure the questions below and make report to the manager.
    1. To follow our companyu2019s security policy, I need to select the port. Could you please let me know which port# do we need to open?  I think port# 80 and 443 are required to use Internet connection. Are there any required port #?
    2. What kind of Standard User Authentication does Solution Manager have? (Basic Authentication, Digest Authentication or other?)
    3. I would like to restrict any unauthorized access. What kind of access control does Solution Manager have? (Like Service Market Place, is there any authentication before entering first screen?)
    4. Is it possible to access both HTTP and HTTPS? If so, is it possible to restrict to HTTP connection? I think HTTPS is much safer.
I read the Security Guide downloaded from Service Market Place, but still have questions. I really need someoneu2019s help.
    Thank you in advance.
    Best Regards,
    Natsumi

    Hi Natsumi,
Your question addresses general topics of SAP NetWeaver Web Application Server.
Please find some answers below and I would recommend to check the standard documentation.

port #80 is the default port for http, port #443 is the default port for https.
You can define your own port numbers to provide access.

SAP Solution Manager 7.0 is based on SAP NetWeaver and is using the same authentications options.

The first screen is the logon screen. Users needs to have logon data (user, password) to access the Work Center.
The URL for the Key User is accessible in the Internet (and may be further restricted to dedicated IP address by additional network infrastructure).
See section "4.4 Internet Communication Framework" in Security Guide.
See section "4.5 Secure Socket Layer (SSL) for HTTP Connections" in Security Guide.

  • Web service available in SAP Solution Manager

    Hi,
Which are the Webservices available in SAP Solution Manager.
I want to Integrate HP Openview change request process with SAP Solution Manager ChaRM.
    Regards
    PK
Edited by: PK on Aug 9, 2010 3:37 PM

Although the path vary between release - webservices for Solution Manager are usually available in transaction SICF
    under the following path
                     /default_host/sap/bc/solman
                     /default_host/sap/bc/bsp/sap/solutionmanager
However I am not aware of an webservice/interface from CHARM to 3rd party service desk products
What is provided as of Solman 7 is an interface between SAP Service Desk and other 3rd party service desk products
    - so if you setup Solution Manager Service Desk you can have a business process from
Openview ---> SAP Service Desk ---> SAP Charm

    Hi,
    Q. Is it possible to setup the solution manager -above mentioned tasks without Ides system ?
    A. Yes.
    Check with links for
    1.Early watch alert
This process helps you to identify potential problems early, avoid bottlenecks, and monitor the performance of your ABAP and JAVA systems and your most important business processes, regularly, automatically and effectively. The data collection infrastructure comprises the ABAP Service Data Control Center and the JAVA function module Data Provider. The SAP EarlyWatch Alert in the SAP Solution Manager is a service provided by SAP.
To be able to use it, you have:
maintained the non-ABAP systems correctly in the system landscape maintenance (transaction SMSY)
RFC u2013 Connections between: and an RFC u2013 Connections established.
your satellite systems and the SAP Solution Manager system
SAP Solution Manager and the SAP Service Marketplace
Solution Manager system and Solution Manager Diagnostics
Cf: Solution Manager IMG (transaction SPRO).
checked the availability of the tools required for the SAP Service sessions (add-on ST-A/PI), with the report RTCCTOOL.
activated Alert Monitoring and set-up the Automatic Session Manager (ASM) in the Service Data Control Center (SDCCN) of your satellite systems, for all SAP satellite systems and the central SAP Solution Manager of your solution
set-up your systems in a solution landscape in the SAP Solution Manager
    configured Solution Manager Diagnostics
    2.System Monitoring
The system monitoring in the SAP Solution Manager is, as described above, like a system-wide central CCMS. It can also contain the central CCMS (CEN) of satellite systems. These CENs can then monitor other components.
The graphical display in the SAP Solution Manager gives you access to the alerts of all systems in a solution. You can go to the local or central CCMS of the satellite systems.
The system proposes the most important alerts in the CCMS monitor collection, according to SAP experience, and their alert thresholds, for each system in the solution, in the system monitoring Session. You can activate or deactivate these alerts. The connection between the local CCMS and the SAP Solution Manager allows you to maintain the alert thresholds directly in the SAP Solution Manager, overwriting the values in the local CCMS.
    3.Central System Administration
You activate the customizing for business processes in your solution, in the Business Process MONITORING session in the SAP Solution Manager. A monitoring tree element (MTE), or a monitor collection, u201EBPMu201C of several monitoring objects, is created in the local or central (CEN) CCMS of the satellite system.
The data is collected for the monitoring types of the business process monitoring in contrast to system monitoring, as follows:
    ● The system collects performance (dialog transactions), posting cancellations (V1 and V2) and u201EOther CCMSu201C and interface data, in the local CCMS of the satellite systems.
    ● The system collects background processing, application list, application monitors, delivery lists, and document size data, in the central SAP Solution Manager CCMS.
The SAP Solution Manager system copies the data from the local CCMS.
The graphical display in the SAP Solution Manager simplifies access to the alerts for the business processes, business process steps or the interfaces between the systems in a solution. You can go to the local CCMS of the satellite systems.
The connection between the local CCMS and the SAP Solution Manager allows you to maintain the alert thresholds directly in the SAP Solution Manager. These overwrite the values in the local CCMS.
    4.Business Process Monitoring
The system and business process monitoring (including interface monitoring) in the SAP Solution Manager, both use the Computing Center Management System (CCMS) (transaction RZ20) architecture. This means that system alerts which occur in the local CCMS, are passed to the SAP Solution Manager via RFC connections between the SAP Solution Manager and the satellites. The system shows these alerts in a graphic or in Sessions. You can also handle the alerts centrally, without having to go to the local CCMS of the satellite systems.
You can see the alerts from several systems in a solution landscape in the SAP Solution Manager, in a graphical overview, in contrast to the local CCMS of the SAP Solution Manager satellite systems. This is the view of a central CCMS (CEN). You can also monitor non-SAP systems in a central CCMS (CEN) of a satellite system

  • Solution Manager Setup System Monitoring DB Administrating Alerts

    HI
1.Do i need to configure the CCMS_OnAlert_Email, for every alert that you have, in the satellite system?
Best thing I would say is to copy method ( RZ21 --> Method --> Method definition )CCMS_OnAlert_Email to Z_CCMS_OnAlert_Email in Solman and assign this auto reaction to  MTE class of satellite systems.
    2. How do i configure this out of solution manager, and bypassing the satellite system?
You have to install/configure sapccm4x( for monitoring abap ) on satellite systems by giving details about Solution manager. Then the alert will be sent to Solution manager from satellite system and the configured auto reaction will send mails .
