SG 500X Switch VRRP Issue

HI all.
I have 2 SG500x's that i am trying to establish VRRP over.
When i kill the master switch, the backup seems to take over but the Ip address of the Virtual router cant be accessed.
Could anybody point me in the right direction?
Switch 1:

Hello Brett,
When you say the IP cannot be accessed what do you mean?
Does traffic still flow properly, or does something go wrong?
I don't think you'll be able to access the switch at the virtual IP, since when the backup is acting as the forwarder it is just using that IP to respond to default gateway requests.
What happens if you kill switch 2? Can you still access the virtual IP address then?

Belkin KVM Switch 2 issue

recently bought the new Belkin Switch 2 KVM gizmo.
Hooked it up to a G5 PPC DVI->VGA & G4 PPC(AGP) VGA. Montior is a Samsung Syncmaster 172T (1024x768 @ 60hz), keyboard & mouse are Apple Pro, both wired. Running 10.4.7
Boot up the G5 & it gets through boot up but then crashes - in respect that although login/startup items continue to load, the mouse is unresponsive & the screen defaults to the generic wallpaper & the screen resolution is not as specified in system prefs (ie. lesser/basic res.)Only way out is to hit the power button til it turns itself off.
Boot up the G4 & it works perfectly. Have reversed the switch cables to check them but no change to the G5 crash. Looks to me like there may be an issue with DVI-VGA and the Switch2.
Has anyone experienced this & more importantly figured out how to solve this issue?

The new Apple keyboard is very underpowered. Even if connected directly to the computer mine won't power my Ipod, so i would say it's likely a power issue.

Oracle to SQL server switch mapping issue?

Hi All,
We are switching the DB from Oracle to SQL. As a result our existing mapping seems to create issue while we are trying to INSERT data.
We changed some of the date setting as and also the hasQuot to Yes so when it goes to the SQL server it runs as CONVERT(datetime,'currentDate/time', 120)
Before doing this change we were getting the error
com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerException: Conversion failed when converting date and/or time from character string.
Now we are getting the error
com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerException: String or binary data would be truncated
Also other date fields are sent with '' like '20150427'
Additionally fields which are Characters are also sent in '' like 'Shaibayan' but when these fields are coming empty at that time the Audit log SQL INSERT shows them as ''' i.e. 3 single quotes instead of '' which we should get.

Action:      Refer to the Net8 NCRO error message. If this isn't clear, check connection administrative setup in tnsnames.ora and listener.ora for the service associated with the Heterogeneous Services database link being used, or with 'extproc_connection_data' for an external procedure call.

Activate or switch device issue

I purchased an Iphone 5 with my upgrade with the intent to turn around and sell it on ebay (same thing I did with my iphone 4 upgrade last time). I received the phone, brought it to the verizon store to have it activated and then get switched back to my Droid...all went well and I even called verizon later to confirm the iphone 5 had been activated on my account. Now my problem is if I go to "activate or switch device" I am still getting a "verify your new device" page with the iphone 5. Shouldn't this have gone away once my iphone 5 had been activated on my account?
With my previous upgrades, once I activated/deactivated the new phone and reactivated my old phone I was free to activate any phone I wished on that number. There are no issues with "activate or switch device" on the other 2 lines on my account, just the line I used to get the upgrade.
Any ideas?

Call customer service from a line NOT involved in the switch you want to do - 800-922-0204. Sometimes I've been able to switch devices on my own, but the last few times it's been glitchy, and I've had to call CS. To Verizon's credit, the CS reps have been very helpful and have managed to get the correct device(s) activated in relatively short order.
From the main menu, choose Option 4 (Other) and then say AGENT at the prompt - you should be connected to a live person pretty quickly.

There must be a missunderstand the bug you quote is to improve the error notification with this unsupported config, it doesn't make the config supported. Some details on this issue from the Release notes of the bug:
Problem Symptom:
In a router running IOS-XR, configuring the same virtual router id(VRID) on
multiple sub-interfaces of the same physical interfaces is NOT supported
for HSRP/ VRRP
Workaround:
Use different virtual router id for the different sub-interfaces of same
physical interface
Further Problem Description:
Example of unsupported config:

If you have two groups configured with the same virtual router id, this means
that they have the same virtual MAC address (as this is derived from the
virtual router ID). When VRRP is in Master state, it installs an entry for
it's virtual MAC in to the MAC filter for the interface over which it is
running. However, it is not possible to program the MAC filter per
sub-interface. Therefore if VRRP is running over a sub-interface it is the MAC
filter of the underlying physical interface which is actually programmed
(although VRRP has no way of being aware of this). If using the unsupported
configuration, you have two Master groups with the same virtual MAC address on
sub-interfaces of the same physical interface. In this case there will only be
one MAC address installed in the filter of the physical interface. When one of
these groups is removed by configuration or it transitions out of Master
state, it removes its virtual MAC address from the MAC filter of the
underlying physical interface meaning there is now no MAC address installed at
all and the VRRP feature for the remaining Master group will no longer
work. The root cause of the problem is that the MAC filter cannot be
programmed per sub-interface.

Monitoring Catalyst Switch (MIB issue)

Hello,
I am trying to monitor Catalyst WS-C3750G-24TS-E switches with Openview NNM. Before being able to do this, I have of course to import the MIB in Openview in order to interprete the traps, MIB entries,... that I get from/look at the switch.
In the Management part of the datasheet of the switch, there is a list of about 20 MIB's, does this mean that I have to import all these MIBs in NNM in order to be able to monitor the switch??
(I have the same issue also for Catalyst WS-4506 Chassis, WS-X4548-GB-RJ45 48x10/100/1000T ports blade an for the loadbalancer CSS11501, but probably the response for the catalyst will respond also the questions)

In fact, the core functionning of SNMP traps, requests is clear for me, perhaps I was not clear enough on that :-). What I need to know is if importing a single MIB allows me to interpret all the information that I get from the switch(all the traps and gets) or do I need to import all the MIBs that are indicated in the whitepaper. I could imagine that most of the MIBs contain redundant information so there would be no need in importing them all, but I am not sure on this point.

Switching Theme Issue

I Apply the weblog Switching Themes by Topic - A Color Code System for the Portal but I have the following issue.
The header area is updated with the new themes. However, the inner page is not affected by the theme changes. We are trying to change the back color of the portal, but when we change the theme it only changes in the header area but not in the content area

An Alt+Tab app-switching icons issue

This may sound trivial, but it's really bothering me.
When I switch apps with Alt+Tab under GNOME, there is this low resolution image-missing icon, for certain programs.
And I don't really mind those few programs not having their own icons, it's the low res generic one that I'm annoyed with.
So, ok- I went out to search for this icon's source, and I actually found out that these image-missing icons reside in /usr/share/icons/gnome/<RESOLUTION>/status directories.
And, to my surprise there is actually a perfectly good 256x256 .png image in its appropriate directory, called image-missing.png
Worse still, I tried to remove (and backup) all the low res ones, leaving only the 256x256 one in place, but to no avail.
Somebody care to explain all this to me?

I am still having this issue. I've noticed it on my old iMac with a wired keyboard and mouse, my new iMac with a wired keyboard and magic mouse and lastly my MPB, with obviously a built in keyboard and mouse. It's not a failed USB device or failed hardware IMO. It is more likely a bug with SL or a third party app.
Though I personally don't run any third party apps in the background other than Dropbox.
Has anyone else out there still been seeing this issue?

VRRP Issue on CSS 11501 !!Plz help

Hi, I have configured the VRRP on CSS properly and it had worked previously without any problem. The only change is i have moved the box from the old location to the new and have change the vlan and ip address rest everything is same.
Now the problem is both CSS are becoming Master kindly some one help me if i have to change anything back to work properly.

SF-302 switch connectivity issue

i found that cisco small business SF302 PoE managed switch connect with the end device (RFID component) would causing packet drop issue.
how should i isolate the issue and proper troubleshooting? would it cause by the PoE issue, or the 10/100 base etc.

Alarm bells ring in my mind, when you say ". Switchport is running o autonego, so the switch prefix it to 10-Full, any ohter mode than this is not working."
Did you manually set a port speed to 10-full or does autonegotiation settle for 10-full?
Can you also check within the RFID device, what it thinks is it's link speed and duplex ?
( if the switch port or the RFID device have their speeds manually set, then the NIC/switchport autonegotiation process WILL not work. for autonegotiation to work, both the RFID NIC and the switch port must be set to autonegotiate)
I am thinking there is a autonegotiation or flow control issue between the RFID device and the switch. A previous cisco Question and answer section says (in blue) that ;
Autonegotiation issues can result from nonconforming implementation, hardware incapabilities, or software defects.
Noel, this brings up a point, have you checked if the manufacturer of the RFID devicefor the latest NIC driver firmware ?
Please be diligent and check this with the manufacturer of the RFID device, as these issues can be caused by old firmware..
When NICs or vendor switches do not conform exactly to the IEEE specification 802.3u, problems can result.
I think you have flow control to work with , but now I can understand packet loss, if the is a autonegotiation issue then packet loss can result.
Hardware incompatibility and other issues can also exist as a result of vendor-specific advanced features, such as autopolarity or cable integrity, which are not described in IEEE 802.3u for 10/100 Mbps autonegotiation.
It could be very interesting to see a screen capture like the one below;
1. of the Etherlike statistics for the port that is connected to the RFID device .
2. the error log, might be very informative to indicate a potential cause of this issue.
But, in the back of my mind, seeing 10megFull duplex as a setting tells me that autonegotiation is having issues, which points me to a NIC firmware issue in the RFID device.
You must be good and try to get a updated NIC drivers for the RFID device.

Catalyst 4507R plus E Switch Discovery Issue

Hi,
I am having issues doing automatic discovery for Cisco Catalyst 4507R plus E Switch IOS 12.2(54)SG, I am using IP ping sweep to discover devices on my network.
When i first setup LMS4.0 with few devices on the network, i discover the C4507 without a problem together with other devices i have on the network but for some reasons now its failing to discover C4507. I have large numbers of WS-C3560X and C4507 on the network, WS-C3560X always discovered just fine.
I tried to use SolarWinds network device monitor I installed on the server to check if there's any SNMP or connectivity issues. I can discover C4507 using Solarwinds without a problem, so im suspecting it could be LMS configuration issue.
Is there any special settings I need to tweak to make this working?

A newer version of IOS should generally be fine.
It's generally the SNMP sysObjectID that LSM keys into. As noted in the table you cited, it should be 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.1.1286 for the 4507R+E.

Tag-switching IP Issues

I have 2 routers with a FE link,
7206 ---Trunk---> switch 3560-48 ---> link WAN with FE to ---> 3640 --trunk->sw3560-48-->customers,
my Internet access is via the 7206 router.
I need to stablish a ibgp session to configure VPN-MPLS for some services, i set the mpls parameters and is posible to stablish the session,
ip cef is on, and i can see the TDP Neighbor UP between 7206 and 3640.
I have a switch 3560-48 connected to the router 3640, the link its a trunk, so i can use these ports for
internet customer access.
well, when I apply the tag-switching ip or mpls ip ont the interfaces between 7206 and 3640 link,
the customers that have only internet access via the 3640 router have problems to browse, www.yahoo.com and some other pages.
When I remove the tag-switching ip or mpls ip
the service normalizes.
could somebody help me with this issue

Silent/ring Switch Pressure Issue

Hi,
I've got an iPhone 3GS, still under warrenty. I'm having a small issue with the ringer/silent switch. If I switch it down onto silent and apply a little finger pressure to the top of the case, just left of the headset call speaker the silent mode goes off and back onto silent again when I let go.
Can I ask if this is a common issue and what I need to do to fix it?

Time Capsule, NAS and Switch port issues

I purchased a Time Capsule yesterday I can get the wifi to work but I am having some other issues.
I need to be able to attach an exisiting Western Digital NAS drive to the TC through ethernet. When I connect it, it shows up in the finder but will not connect.
I also need to be able to connect a Switch port into the TC as well. The switch runs ethernet thoughout the building to wall jacks as well as running a dedicated PC server.
When I plug both these devices into the ISP modem/router they work but the TC wont recognize them.
Am I missing some settings or steps that I need to take to make this work?

Did you put the TC into bridge mode.. ??
If it is a router.. all kinds of bad things can happen.. like dhcp server is working and double NAT preventing access.. much like you describe.
Setup the TC in isolation from the network. before you plug it in.
Bridge in v5 utility.. (if you run lion it is easy to download and install is still preferred).
Bridge in v6 utility go to the Network tab and change it from DHCP and NAT to off bridge mode.
Picture pending if you need it.
