Shame on Adobe

I have been using photoshop Elements 11 but needed some advice. I contacted the 'chat' line only to be told that they no longer supported or gave advice for Photoshop Elements 11. Adobe, is this fair on your customers? I think this is very poor service. Has anyone else an opinion on this issue?

I agree with you! I just purchased PSE 11 less than a year ago and they no longer support it?
That is pretty arogant... to say the least.
I bit the bullet and purchased PSE 12 but not happy about it. I will be looking for other alternatives in the future.

  • Shame on Adobe ! Installing cr@p behind the user's back!  :~(

These are comments originally left on the Forum Comments forum.
    First, my original question:
    Can anyone enlighten me?
How did a folder named just "Adobe", containing only something called "Acrobat.com.app"), end up in my root Applications folder?
Double clicking on "Acrobat.com.app" launches an installer that wants to install something called "AIR".  What is that and what is it needed for?
Then someone pointed me to a Wikipedia article.
    acresofgreen wrote:
…In the case of AIR:   http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adobe_air…
    Here's my grateful reply:
Thank you much.  That's where the answer to the mystery was:
Adobe  AIR was included with all downloaded installations of Adobe Reader 9  (released in July, 2008), with no option for exclusion either in the  download or in the installation. As of August 2010, Adobe still bundles  Adobe AIR (along with the application Acrobat.com) with the Adobe Reader  9.3 download, with no option for exclusion, and the installation file for Adobe Reader 9.3 still installs Adobe AIR without user permission.
    Shame on Adobe!
I've never downloaded or installed either Acrobat.com or Adobe AIR.  It has to have been the Acrobat Reader 9.3 update for the Mac that installed that sucker on my Mac. I had certainly never seen it before.
That, on top of the inexcusable, abominably surreptitious "Growl" installed by Adobe behind my back, strengthens my resolve not to acquire any more Adobe products, free or otherwise.
What in blazes are the Adobe corporate folks thinking?
Here's the public admission regarding Adobe installing GROWL without the user's consent:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/2964739#2964739
Post #2 in that thread reads [emphasis mine]:
"Yes, the installer team (over the strong objections of product teams) installs Growl."
Finally, my last comment over there:
"Macromedia-ization™" has been the worst thing that has ever happened to Adobe.
Wherever he may be, I sincerely hope Bruce Chizen suffers from unstoppable diarrhea till the end of his days on this planet.

Thank so much for this very interesting info. I do not like the Idea of Any company, specially one that I am spending money on, to install their garbage on my computer.
They do not have my permission to install garbage in MY computer.
I hope more people can read this and uninstall Adobe's garbage.
    Thank you Again Tai Lao

  • Shame on Adobe for Terrible Customer Service!!!!

I just purchased PSE 8 after the 30 day trial.  This product is filled with bugs.  WHen it works it is great.  Unfortunately  there are too many bugs and zero customer service to back up the product.   That's why were all here online trying to figure out each other's  problems.  The techs located in India can not help us.  I used the trial  version for less than 30 days and ran into a problem with the sync  feature.  It stopped working and none of the solutions offered here  helped.  I called customer service.  After waiting on hold for nearly30  minutes I was told that I need to purchase the product before they can  help me.  I told the man that I would not purchase a broken product.  I  told him that if he could solve the issue I would buy it.  He transfered  me.  Again on hold for about 20 minutes.  This man said since Im not a  customer no help.  Today I uninstalled and purchased the product and  renistalled.  Same problem with the sync feature.  Argh.  As I type  this, I am on hold with customer service in India or Pakistan.  If this  is not resolved tonite, I am requesting a full refund on this POS  product..

    Bob,
Thanks for your reply, but I uninstalled PSE and asked for a refund.  My photos would not sync up with photoshop.com.  I hope you're having better luck with your copy.  I wanted this to work so much.  When trying to sync pictures up to photoshop.com mine would not get past "initializing" and then it would quit.  None of the other posters had a similar problem.  I installed my own memory, new CPU, new video card and better CD rom drive, so I know my way around the computer.  There are just too many bugs in PSE and my computer ran very  slow.  Last night, I installed Paint Shop Pro X3 and system is running much faster.  So far no problems.  I will try it out for 30 days to see if it's better.
If Adobe would have helped me with my problem, I would have kept it.  Instead they bounced me around to different people that could not help.  To anyone who is looking for a refund...It took over 40 minutes to get my refund processed!  I must have wasted over 15 hours on this.

  • Shame on you, Adobe

Our experience with Adobe has been extremely negative.
With a rare exception, the reps are very unfriendly; they interrupt in a mid sentence, get rude ( "I am not going to waste my time on this...", etc.)
It took months and dozens of phone conversations to transfer the license from our ex-employee back to the company.
I mean those reps who actually speak the language of this country. When they escalate, you'll usually get someone picking up the phone in India.
This afternoon, after two rude and annoyed people, I got escalated to a tech, who, just simply hung up on me, after I asked the same question twice, since he was saying sheer nonsense. And these are the characters Adobe hires to represent itself?
Wow, shame, and shame again, Adobe.
You are deliberately turning your loyal, and long-running customers away. Well, this is exactly what you'll get.

As already pointed out there is nothing we can do here to help you but
if you were after alternatives or what economists call substitute
products then clearly Microsoft is the best.  They have almost
everything Adobe has and their products are relatively less expensive
    than Adobe's.
Whether you like these alternatives is a different story altogether but
alternatives they are and there are others out there if you look for
them.  Search for Open Source products (free products) and you will be
    surprised what you get.
    Good luck.

  • I have a disclaimer that says my Adobe Flash Player is out of date and needs to be updated.  I have been trying to figure this out for 2 days, which is a waste of time, and I chatted with Adobes Customer Service department who said they can't help me

because it is a free application.  They referred me to the Forum (which I have tried many times) but to me that is like a dog trying to chase the tail.  I am very upset because I cannot get You Tube nor can I listen to music.  This may seem trite but it is not trite to me.  I pay monthly for the use of CC Photoshop and Lightroom.  I will not give them anymore money for other software as they do not offer excellent customer service.  I am a consumer and should be treated with business sense.   Adobe keeps making a ton of money and gets away with it.  They have the worst customer service I have ever experienced in my life.  Shame on Adobe.  I will not use the Forum for assistance. They should be paying us for learning an IT job.  Obviously, Adobe is self centered because they don't consider that maybe we all have a life and cannot worship Adobe.@

I had been getting those notices for months, I finally broke down and hit the button to automatically upgrade. I was flooded with offers of new services from $10. to $49. per month - and my audio/video for Facebook, NYT and NPR are "blocked" with the advice to "upgrade " my Adobe Flash Player - for which there does not seem to be any customer support. My advice is to skip the "upgrading" if your computer works;I do not know what to do now . .  .

  • Call for Adobe to flush it's lame tech support:

I think I speak for many people when I say that Adobe's outsourced "tech" "support" is niether tech nor support. Come on Adobe, step up to the plate and give your customers a little more respect by offering them the kind of support that would be expected with a professional software package.
I have wasted so much time, I really feel cheated and outraged.  I paid $800+ for an upgrade from CS2 to CS4 and the one feature I use the most : Merge to HDR will not align large images using WinXP-64, yet it workes fine in CS2.  Sound like an easy thing to fix? Well here is 5 months of BS from Adobe tech support, it would be comical if it wasnt so pathetic:
Have a similar story? add it here....
I was already walked through replacing that file over the phone, that is one of the many "solutions" that did not work.  Check the link you just sent me, it goes to PAGE UNAVAILABLE. I did an Adobe search for the file you were having me replace my current one with....PHSPCS4_Cont_LS1 and it IS FOR THE WRONG OPERATING SYSTEM!!!!!!!!!!  Its for a Mac, I stated over and over the problem is a conflict with my WinXP-64 and you tell me to replace the automate file with a Mac file?
    YOU PEOPLE ARE ALL IDIOTS!
YOU HAVE DONE NOTHING BUT WASTE MY TIME.
SHAME ON ADOBE FOR OUTSOURCING!  YOU THINK YOU ARE SAVING A BUCK BY OUTSOURCING BUT LET ME TELL YOU -  YOU ARE ONLY LOOSING AND PISSING OFF YOUR CUSTOMERS.
Greedy Adobe Executives: you suck worse than your lame *** "tech" support!

I still have the same problem. The "align" option in HDR will not work with large files when using WinXP-64.
The "align" processing time grows exponentially as the pixel sizes get larger in the images. I did extensive testing and plotted the
results.  My camera shoots 5616x3744, when using 5 or more of the these to create an HDR, (the minimum I would normally use)  the "
align" time is an unworkable 25+minutes.
The whole reason I am calling this an usresolved problem is that when I use the exact same photos in MergeHDR in CS2 it would proces
s in about 1 min. If I use the same files in CS4 without the "align" function, it processes in less than 10 seconds.
So clearly the problem is in the code of the "align" function in "Merge to HDR".  Somehow that code conflicts in WinXP-64.
I dont need to hear any other suggestions  of how to fix this on my end (there have been a dozens so far - they have all been wrong)
I'm just going to ask the same question again: are you going to have a programmer find the problem in the code and re-write a fix f
or WinXP-64 so it can handle larger images? I believe during one of our phone conversations I was told "we will look into this and g
et back to you" That was 3 or 4 months ago!
If you are not going to bother, please, have the dignity to just say so!

I am still missing the output module in Bridge and the Merge to hdr does not work with large images when using the "align images" op
    tion

    That's nothing!
An engineer and I contacted Adobe technical support by phone to ensure the PC I was having custom built was configured to its optimum. They advised XP64 as the best operating environment. After that discussion we had to completely revise procurement, etc to get the bits and compatible XP64 compatible software, putting the build project back a few weeks as well, Imagine how I laughed when I found out on one of these forums that XP64 is the worst choice and totally unsupported by CS4!
I have written to Shantanu Narayen, Adobe CEO and didn't even get an acknowledgement I raised this last week on the Adobe stand at BVE and was told they'd get someone to contact me asap but guess what, niet...! To be fair there has been one Adobe executive that recognises the problem and the damage poor customer support is causing the company; he has been as helpful as he can. Unfortunately, it seems the overall Adobe culture at the top is "get the money and run". If your problem goes beyond what's already on their web pages, tough luck!

  • Edit Formscentral form with Adobe Acrobat 9 PRO

Since Formscentral is being discontinued, I would like to be able to edit my forms with Acrobat 9 Pro. I have saved my forms from Formcentral as a PDF, opened them with Acrobat, saved a copy to remove the security, then opened it with the Forms wizard. Once I get to this point I am unable to edit the text of the form. What am I doing wrong or is there a better way to achieve this?

I would also like to know.
It seems we all have to recreate the forms again in indesign since indesign cant read a pdf form.  Is this really true.  Shame on Adobe  if it is.

I run a digital lab and full wet darkroom facility.
Over the years, I have spent a lot of money on Adobe products. I used to promote Adobe products in workshops.
Adobe has descended to such low depths in terms of horrific customer relations, complete indifference and faulty software. Adobe products are now banned from our studio in that we are not making any further investment and looking for alternative image editing. (We are phasing out Photoshop.)
It's truly a shame that Adobe is slowly, but surely destroying its customer base.

So, where does one post a thread about Adobe going from incompetent to utterly sinister? I'll be specific. I'm not so worried about the fact that Bridge crashes about two to three times per session. It's become an expectation. However, when "sales" gives completely erroneous information about upgrading, Adobe takes the money, then - after dedicating significant time to downloading and configuring - you find out that you've either been lied to or the person was just totally incompetent, or simply didn't care.
This is a problem that is pervasive is many - or most - large companies. There is complete mismanagement and lack of regard for customers. In the past three years, every transaction with Adobe has been nothing short of traumatic and time consuming. It has revolved around licensing and product performance issues every time.
I appreciate your comments about dealing with customer service. I've been down that road. However, in running a business, I have 24 hours in my day. I do not have time to be feuding with some poor, scared being in some far off developing country who has been trained as an unforgiving automaton.
Customer trauma and product abandonment are clearly just part of the Adobe cost equation. Steve Jobs is right. Adobe is lazy.
I used to teach and promote Acrobat for paperless solutions. Now, when someone asks, they are directed to other PDF producers. There is no way I will invest another penny in software by Adobe.

  • Can someone stop Adobe autoinstalling McAfee with Adobe Reader

Hi, Why does Adobe Reader standardly download and install McAfee??? Does anyone at Adobe know how it is to have 2 virus scanners or security solutions on a PC? I need an Adobe address to send PCs which do not longer because of such a f...ing thing!
The world did not use Semantec Virus scanners any more cause they worked horrible. Now it seems that McAfee has a problem. And Adobe is now paid for something which the world does not need. Shame to Adobe!

To their shame, Adobe offer MacAfee, Chrome and other downloads by default BUT YOU CAN TURN IT OFF if you pay attention.
If you get a download which does not offer a way to turn it off, you may have malware. We have seen things pretending to be Adobe updaters to encourage you to download all sorts of things. This is pretty much certain if you keep getting told to update constantly, despite updating before, because Adobe only have updates every few months.

  • No More Adobe Support 4 FlashPaper 2

Yesterday I installed FlashPaper 2 on the Windows XP Pro SP3 side of my new dual-OS PC.  During installation, I received a fatal error message that Flash.ocx failed to register.  As my installation represented the purchase of a new license, I called Adobe for support.  My call was directed to Adobe's tech support center in India. The low-level Adobe technician (cough-cough) told me that Adobe no longer provided support for any version of FlashPaper.  After vigorously pointing out that Adobe's FAQ web page for FlashPaper clearly states "Yes, Adobe will continue to honor its existing support commitments (to FlashPaper)", the tech directed me to his supervisor.  The Adobe tech supervisor emphatically told me that he had an 'internal memo' stating his tech center will no longer offer support for FlashPaper 2.  But, that so-called tech supervisor said I can receive 'paid' support.  I called the 'pay-per-incident' support number and landed at another tech center in India. The technician at the 'PAID' tech support center said that Adobe no longer provides 'pay-per-incident' support for FlashPaper!
WHAT AN INTERESTING SITUATION!  Adobe continues to sell FlashPaper 2 (for $79) and continues to advertise its commitment to support FlashPaper 2...but when a client buys a new copy of FlashPaper 2, Adobe Tech Support refuses to provide support...not even installation isssues!
So much for Adobe's honor in honoring its commitments.  A great company has become drunk with its success and now believes it has the power to break its word at its customer's expense.  Shame on Adobe!
    Preston
Post-Script:  I discovered the cause of the installation error and found my own work-around.  The root of the issue is that FlashPaper 2 looks to Macromedia Flash Player version 7 to function properly (more specifically, the Flash.ocx file of Macromedia Flash Player v7).   During installation of Flash Paper 2, it apparently installs the aforementioned file in the System 32 folder of Windows.   Unfortunately, Adobe Flash Player current version 10i uses that same Windows system 32 folder to place its own Flash10i.ocx file.  FlashPaper apparently doesn't really recognize the Adobe Flash Player file Flash10i.ocx...which leads to a conflict betwixt the two different ocx files...and mucks up FlashPaper (as well as other software that depends on Flash10i.ocx).   I fixed the problem by uninstalling Adobe Flash Player and Flash Paper.  I installed FP2.  Using the www.afreeOCX.com's instructions for registering an OCX file to register Flash.ocx...and then installed Adobe Flash Player v10i.  Now Flash Paper and my other apps work fine.  BUT I believe that when Adobe updates its Flash Player again and installs a new ocx file...I bet it mucks up FP2 again.

The link is functional for me.
I copied and pasted it directly to a browser window and was presented with a page to download version 1.4.2_19

  • Adobe Activation, Upgrades

Its unfortuante, but it seems that Adobe is only interested in taking your money, and then abandon you ?
I upgraded my CS4 to CS5, and when having to reinstall, found that I can't do so. unless you keep your old software handy, which I don't then you also lose your upgrade.
I don't know of any other Company that does this and I have been a OEM  (manufacturer of PC's) for 25 years, so have used 100's of different software titles.
Shame on Adobe, Are they part of a Banking Group, ? Just plain Greedy?

    To mylenium
You Have  not got the full picture of events? I was persuaded to upgrade, and was assured by an Adobe Sales person, I did not need to retain my previous version, as I was being supplied with the full product. Now I am being told I must keep my older product to be able to activate the new one. I purchased the new Photoshop approx. 15 months ago, but need to re-install it.
I don’t think that it’s my fault. I bought the product, have the Invoices to prove the same, The product is registered with Adobe, including the serial no. So I assumed obviously wrongly I could install it & activate it again. Even if I upgrade to the CS6, it will still not work. And you think that’s a fair deal ? Well I don’t.
So you see you have not quite got the picture. I have the Serial number, but it doesn’t work. By the way I’m not the only one with this problem. There is no end of articles regarding this on their Web-Site ?.

  • Adobe Air Comments System

Ok so i built a Air export and the commenting system seems to
work fine.... BUT I now want the Air file to be online, so i select
the Air Application and Browser based Help export system. Problem
is that the HTML version that it creates does NOT have comments
    built in...
How do i get the commenting system to work on a http page..
    Jason

Ah thought as much, was expecting too much fo "Adobe must
save some features for the next version" ;)
Its just a shame that Adobe never seem to fully realise
features in a single release but seem to drag it out over a long
period of time and requiring many upgrades to get there... had the
same problem with Captivate (Dreamweaver is the only product this
is not true of - for me anyway).

  • Centralized solution to update Adobe CS4

    Hello,
Does Adobe propose a solution to centrally update its programs ?
I am thinking about something like WSUS for Windows Updates or Mac OS X server centralized update server.
A solution that can manage, monitor and enables us to only download the updates once for every machines.
I am in a training center with more than 100 Macs and 50 PC's each with Adobe CS 4 installed. It's really painful if not impossible to update Adobe products. It requires a lot of bandwith and far too much manual intervention.
If anyone can help me. I would really appreciate.
    p.a

It is a shame that Adobe doesn't make it easier to patch this suite. I just finished writing a script that will install all the latest updates to CS4 Master Collection. This will update a Windows installation.
::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::Begin script-copy starting on the next line::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
    @echo off

    ::Version Cue Server 4.0.1

    exit
::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::End script-stop copy on the line above::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
Just copy from @echo off down to exit and paste it into notepad. Save the file as either a .bat or .cmd file. You will need to change the third line, set instdir=C:\TEMP\AdobeCS4Updates, to the path to the folder you have the updates stored.
What you need to do is download all the above updates from Adobe. Unfortunately, you will have to navigate to several pages to get all the updates. Most will be on the CS4 updates page, but several of them will require selecting the individual product to get to it. Extract all the updates and place the extracted folders into one folder. In my script example above, all the extracted update folders are located in a folder named C:\TEMP\AdobeCS4Updates. You will also need to double check the extracted update folders names to see if they match the path listed in the script. I think there are 1 or 2 that I changed the name slightly from what is the default (I know for sure I did this for the Adobe Output Module, it didn't have the Bridge part in there).
The Acrobat updates don't get extracted since they are msp files. You will also need to copy AcroPro.msi into the folder you store the 2 msp files in. Copy AcroPro.msi from the folder C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 9.0\Setup Files\guid (guid will be some long string that I'm too lazy to type out). If you installed to some other location, get the file from that location.
All other update files will be zip files when downloaded except for Flash. Flash will be an exe, but just extract it like the others.
OnLocation version 4.0.3 update is not currently listed on the download site as of this posting. I have posted it in another thread.
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/2141485#2141485
You can modify this script to match your deployment methods. I hope this helps someone since Adobe doesn't seem to have a better method for mass updating.

  • Adobe Customer Non-Support??

I see no other place to post about but since the product I bought was their Adobe Reader Pro 9.0 this is where I will start.
I just purchased 9 volume license copies of their Adobe Acrobat 9.0 Professional.  Through their World Wide Licensing site I retrieved my S/N.  I plug it into my 30 Day trial and it comes up invalid.  I've looked on their site and haven't found anything that really seems to apply.  So I called the support number thinking I'm missing something very simple and this is where the fun begins.....
    8:45am-9:30am - Customer Support - 800-833-6687 - Unknown.
Talked with support trying to give him my e-mail address.  He was having a hard time understanding even as I was giving verbal examples.  We "mysteriously" became disconnected.
    9:30am-10:00am - Customer Support - 800-833-687 - Unknown.
This person was a little better but she ended up passing me on after validating my information and Serial Number
    10:00am-10:30am - Adobe Pro Support - 800-3623 - Unknown.
Once again this person was hard to understand.  He validated my information and Serial Number then said could not help me and pawned me off.
    10:30am-11:20am - ? Support - 800-???-???? - Leah.
She verified my information & Serial Number and said she couldn't help.  Pawned me off.
    11:20am-11:30am - ? Support - 800-???-???? - Arpeet.
He validated my information & Serial Number and said it wasn't his department.  Pawned me off.
    11:30am-1:30pm -and counting............. - Volume Licensing - 800-443-8158 - ??3
Still listening to their on hold music
             12:15pm-12:30pm - Corp. Office - 408-536-6000 - Helen?? Customer Service Manager
Receptionist wanted to send me to support but after a little persistence she passed me on to Helen's voicemail.
             1:00pm-1:15pm - Corp Office - 408-536-6000 - Helen Customer Service Manager
Passed to Helen...her voice mail now states she's out till the 24th and to call someone else.  Called and left message.  Will e-mail
As of right now I'm still on the phone..........................................

Same issue here.  This is crappy service for expensive products that we paid for and didn't get off a warez site like everybody else seems to.  Lost original DVD (not Adobe's fault).  Can't get replacement DVD from original reseller or Adobe.  Told by adobe that if I purchased download link originally I can login and download.  I didn't.  Told that can't download as a result because they no longer have the files.  Well if they don't how come I can still login and download if I originally purchased a link?  The files are there somewhere if they can still be downloaded by some individuals, like Adobe would throw away the files after two years, give me a break!
Good customer service would be to have all purchased versions avail to properly licensed customer online for download,  PERIOD!
Things happend, buildings burn, theft etc.  Help your customers continue doing business Adobe!  Not everyone can upgrade on every micro updated version of your products, some of us have to skip a version to make a living.
This whole thing smells like a force it down you throat upgrade path scenario.  Totally redicoulous in this day and age.  Shame on Adobe.  Adobe, state a good reason for this (I can't see any) or come clean and say you are being difficult on purpose!
By the way, If anyone has Design Premium CS3 volume media it would be appreciated.  I can return the favor, we still have our Mac Design Standard and PC Master media.  Or is this against the EULA to copy the disc and distrubute what we rightfully own???  Geez what a joke this is...
