SharedObject and Caching issues

Background:
     I am working on a project where I am using sharedObject to store data for a favorites list. The project contains 2 swfs, one in AS 3.0 (using Flex 4.5) and the other an AS 2.0 flash 8 project.  Basically the AS 2.0 project read and writes data to the shared object and the AS 3.0 project just reads the data.
Setup:
     OS: Windows 7
     Flash Player: 10.3     Browsers: IE 9, IE 8, Chrome 14, and some misc Firefox testing -- Chrome seems to be working the best.
Problems:
     First off it has been extremely hard to get consistent results across different computers so if anyone has a suggestion as to why that would be (other than different browsers, different flash player versions, different flash player settings/global settings and different OS versions) because I have been making sure all that stuff is consistent across devices for testing purposes.
     1. It appears that some computers/browers won't store the shared object at all even though everything to allow it is turned on.
     2. Some computers/browsers will store it, but won't update until I refresh the page
General Questions:
     1. Is the storage of sharedObject object data in a .sol file configured the same in both AS 2.0 and AS 3.0 and if so, would this be a means of communicating between two swfs running off the same domain?
     2. Is it possible to have a browser cache sharedObject data(the .sol file)?
      3. I have noticed as new flash player releases are coming out(especially recently i.e. 10.3) I have had to make a lot of repairs to the actionscipt 2 stuff.  Is actionscript 2 support slowly being phased out? Is anyone else experiencing the same problems?
Possible Solutions/Findings:
     I am starting to believe that it has something to do with browser caching since Chrome seems to perform the best and Chrome has performed best when it comes to browser caching issues.
** code is available if needed but since it was working before I don't think it is relevant.

Hello,
#1
are you using explicit call to flush method immediately afer you're writing data to reference to SharedObject?
http://help.adobe.com/en_US/FlashPlatform/reference/actionscript/3/flash/net/SharedObject. html#flush()
If not you could have different data read by different browsers sessions run at the same time (e.g. IE/FireFox both hosting your test Flash movies) - as data are flushed only when given Flash runtime session is to be terminated (e.g. movie is to be unloaded) and in other cases as outlined in documentation.
#2
the SharedObject is reference to binary file stored on local machine by Flash runtime (Air runtime too). It has nothing similar to web-fetched content to be cached:

  • SecurityDomain and Caching Issues

    I am running into some caching issues when setting the securityDomain of an imported SWF to match the calling SWF file and I was curious if anyone had any ideas on how to get around this issue.
    Here is the scenario:
    A.swf is launched on Domain A, it sends a Loader request for B.swf on Domain B.
    B.swf will be updated frequently so caching is disabled, A.swf however can be cached.
    B.swf has some ExternalInterface.calls so it requires being in the same securityDomain as A.swf otherwise it will receive a Security Error #2006.
    The code I am using for this is fairly straightforward:
    ActionScript Code:
    var request:URLRequest = new URLRequest("http://domainB/B.swf");
    var loader:Loader = new Loader();
    var context:LoaderContext = new LoaderContext();
    context.securityDomain = SecurityDomain.currentDomain;
    loader.load(request, context);
    I believe B.swf is inheriting the caching setting of A.swf because it is residing in the same securityDomain. If I make a small update to B.swf and refresh A.swf in a browser it will not load the B.swf updates until I clear cache.
    If I get rid of the securityDomain context on the load it will always update B.swf with the most current version, but I run into security issues with ExternalInterface.
    ActionScript Code:
    var request:URLRequest = new URLRequest("http://domainB/B.swf");
    var loader:Loader = new Loader();
    loader.load(request);
    I have tried appending random strings to the end of the URLRequest while using the securityDomain context but it will always used a cached version of B.swf. I have also tried loading B.swf into a ByteArray then using loadBytes on a Loader but that didn't work either.
    Any ideas are appreciated!

  • Cache and performance issue in browsing SSAS cube using Excel for first time

    Hello Group Members,
    I am facing a cache and performance issue for the first time, when I try to open a SSAS cube connection using Excel (using Data tab  -> From Other Sources --> From Analysis Services) after daily cube refresh. In end users
    system (8 GB RAM), for the first time, it takes 10 minutes to open the cube. From next run onwards, its open up quickly within 10 secs.
    We have daily ETL process running in high end servers. The configuration of dedicated SSAS cube server is 8 core, 64GB RAM. In total we have 4 cubes - out of which for 3 is full cube refresh and 1 is incremental refresh. We have seen after
    daily cube refresh, it takes 10 odd minutes to open the cube in end users system. From next time onwards, it opens up really fast with 10 secs. After cube refresh, in server systems (16 GB RAM), it takes 2 odd minutes to open the cube.
    Is there, any way we could reduce the time taken for first attempt ?
    Best Regards, Arka Mitra.

    Thanks Richard and Charlie,
    We have implemented the solution/suggestions in our DEV environment and we have seen a definite improvement. We are waiting this to be deployed in UAT environment to note down the actual performance and time improvement while browsing the cube for the
    first time after daily cube refresh.
    Guys,
    This is what we have done:
    We have 4 cube databases and each cube db has 1-8 cubes.
    1. We are doing daily cube refresh using SQL jobs as follows:
    <Batch xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/analysisservices/2003/engine">
    <Parallel>
    <Process xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:ddl2="http://schemas.microsoft.com/analysisservices/2003/engine/2" xmlns:ddl2_2="http://schemas.microsoft.com/analysisservices/2003/engine/2/2" xmlns:ddl100_100="http://schemas.microsoft.com/analysisservices/2008/engine/100/100" xmlns:ddl200="http://schemas.microsoft.com/analysisservices/2010/engine/200" xmlns:ddl200_200="http://schemas.microsoft.com/analysisservices/2010/engine/200/200">
    <Object>
    <DatabaseID>FINANCE CUBES</DatabaseID>
    </Object>
    <Type>ProcessFull</Type>
    <WriteBackTableCreation>UseExisting</WriteBackTableCreation>
    </Process>
    </Parallel>
    </Batch>
    2. Next we are creating a separate SQL job (Cache Warming - Profitability Analysis) for cube cache warming for each single cube in each cube db like:
    CREATE CACHE FOR [Profit Analysis] AS
    {[Measures].members}
    *[TIME].[FINANCIAL QUARTER].[FINANCIAL QUARTER]
    3. Finally after each cube refresh step, we are creating a new step of type T-SQL where we are calling these individual steps:
    EXEC dbo.sp_start_job N'Cache Warming - Profit Analysis';
    GO
    I will update the post after I receive the actual im[provement from UAT/ Production environment.
    Best Regards, Arka Mitra.

  • IE Caching Issue while closing and opening a UI thrice or more

    Hi Everybody..
    Greetings of the day..
    I am working on a web application (Can not disclose the name) where at certain level a word document generated contains a customized toolbar.
    It contains one print option, when clicked opens a UI which shows default printer available (Its different from our normal printing).
    When I repeat opening and then closing of this UI thrice or more times, the entire application gets hanged and I have
    to terminate it by killing the associated process from task manager.
    When this issue was analysed our by onsite team they arrived at a conclusion saying that its an IE caching issue.
    But upto my knowledge I know that any application which is .SSL secured, by default IE never does cache control.
    What could be the solution if application is not .SSL secured or if it is.
    Kindly help asap.
    Thanks.

    Hi all
    Did anyone ever manage to fix this? I'm having this issue across multiple iPads. Even if i completely reset the iPad (erasing all content and settings) it does it again when restored.
    I've just got an iPad Air and that does it too. I even created a new Apple ID to see if that would work (trying to avoid any kind of caching aross iCloud, etc) and it does it straight away in those books. It's massivley frsustrating.
    I have noticed it only seems to do it for iBooks formatted books, not ePubs.
    Anyone have a resolution - it's quite embarrassing when you're doing a presentation about book features and the audience assumes youve only the wrong book each time. More annoying when clsoing the book and the wrong cover appears again, but also takes you to that books collection page, rather than the one you were in.

  • About cache issue when using push2phone and callerino

    I have made push2phone and callerino functions working well,but the issue is when we push messages to the phone,the phoen always displayed the message sent last time firstly then the message this time was displayed,seems there was cache issue,so does the callerinfo function.I have no idea about where the cache issue occurs,also how can I let the message be displayed as "tab" method on the phone? Please help !Thanks in advance.

    Sorry to bother you again, I found I was wrong in describing my problem. I found out that I sent the CiscoIPhoneExecute xml to the phone last time, not the CiscoIPhoneImageFile xml.
    The CiscoIPPhoneExecute xml is like:
    http://192.168.1.2:8080/test/push2phone.jsp?action=get"/>
    And "http://192.168.1.2:8080/test/push2phone.jsp?action=get" returns the CiscoIPPhoneImageFile xml, like this:
    Image Title goes here
    Prompt text goes here
    0
    0
    http://192.168.1.2:8080/test/pngs/attention.png
    so when I send the CiscoIPPhoneExecute xml to a phone, the phone will display the file attention.png on the screen with the sound chime.raw, then I press the "exit" button, the attention.png on the screen disappears. But if I then send the CiscoIPPhoneExecute xml with the "http://192.168.1.2:8080/test/push2phone.jsp?action=get" that returns the CiscoIPPhoneImageFile that contains a different png file, for example "warning.png", the "attention.png" will appear for a short time during the time when "warning.png" is downloading, then "warning.png" appears. I have no idea why that happens. I don't want to see "attention.png" when I'm sending "warning.png". What can I do?
    I've tried to directly sent the CiscoIPPhoneImageFile xml to a phone, everything goes well, no "cache" problems. but I have no idea how to add the sound "chime.raw". I want the png files to be sent like short messages with sounds. Please help!
    Thanks a lot.

  • Lenovo U310: Clean Windows 7 Installation Guide (including Rapid Start and Caching)

    Hi there,
    this is the first time that I am writing such a guide/tutorial/whatever you may call it – there are probably better ones, but though not being a total computer noob, it took me almost one week to get this pretty (now again) little beast running again. So hopefully this helps some others to avoid such stupid downtimes.
    A brief overview on what has happened to my original win 7 Home Premium:
    As some may know, this laptop is very well usable as a “Hackintosh” called Macbook clone. So that’s what I did. It turned out to be nice, but I wanted to go back to Windows after a while, using a clean W7 Pro installation to start over. Actually an easy task, format all drives, install Windows, be happy. Just as I had been doing this for years. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a real challenge. First, I couldn’t “see” my drives during installation (and thus not install), then I got random errors during installation aborting it at different points and finally rapid start and caching didn’t work. Every time I tried to activate them (after Win installation), it crashed my PC. I even found an (official Lenovo!) guide stating to install W7 on the SSD, which worked, but sucks due to space limitations. Oh and another very nice thing: The SSD showed up during WIN installation (but not the classical hard drive) stating it was about 60 GB. So as you can see, I have had a lot of different tries and errors. Why I didn’t use Lenovo Easy Recover? As said before, I erased all partitions…
    Before we start: If you have a good Windows running on the Laptop, do yourself a favor and disconnect the RAID 0 disks using the Intel Rapid Storage Application before(!!!) proceeding. It will make things much easier. And don’t forget to get all you data on an external drive or something.
    Ok, now let’s start.
    1.)    Prepare a USB Stick with the following driver
             http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=21730 (choose f6flpy-x64.zip If you’re running a
             64-bit system (standard nowadays), take f6flpy-x86.zip if it is a 32-bit Windows, just download and copy them
             into the stick’s root directory) and plug this stick in one of the left side USB ports.
    2.)    You’ll need Win 7 on either a DVD (plus external drive, for sure) or (bootable) USB stick
    3.)    Connect your drive/stick (with W7) to the right side USB port.
    4.)    Switch the computer on, immediately hit FN and F2. That will open the BIOS.
    5.)    In the BIOS, navigate to the very right section (“save and exit”) and navigate the cursor to “load setup defaults”.
             Hit enter to approve.
    6.)    After that, go to the “boot” tab and disable UEFI-boot.
    7.)    Next, go one more tab to the left and set the controller setting to RAID (NOT AHCI or Compatible!!!).
    8.)    Navigate the cursor down to “Intel Rapid Start” and hit enter. A submenu will pop up-
    9.)    Disable the first entry in that window, that will make the rest be disabled as well.
    10.) Navigate to the very right tab, this time hit save and exit.
    11.) The PC restarts.
    12.) Immediately hit FN and F12 to open the boot selection menu. Select to boot from your W7 DVD drive or USB
            stick.
    13.) Click yourself through the whole process of installing Windows 7 until the page comes up where you will have
            to select where to install it.
    14.) Click on “load drivers” and after a few seconds your downloaded driver should be there. Click ok to use them.
            Please do this step even if you can see your drives (SSD Disk 0, 32 GB and HDD Disk 1, 465(<-?) GB) as you
            would expect them – otherwise you’re very likely to get an error during the install process.
    15.) Now erase all partitions on both drives and select the HDD as the drive to install W7 to – NOT THE SSD!!!!!
            Seriously, don’t choose the SSD.
    16.) Windows will probably say that some extra partitions are necessary and so on, click ok and install Windows.
    17.) After the installation has finished and you see your Desktop, I suggest you to proceed with the next steps in the
            following order to see as early as possible if you are on the right way.
    18.) Install the Chipset driver, restart.
    19.) Install the Intel Rapid Storage “driver” and check the box where it asks to additionally install the control center.
            Reboot.
    20.) Go into BIOS (FN and F2) and enable Intel Rapid Start (the one you disabled in Step 8 and 9)
    21.) Boot into Windows.
    22.) Click on the Windows button, type cmd and right klick on the cmd.exe, select to run it as Admin.
    23.) Now you’ll create a hibernation partition on the SSD. (which by now should be completely empty as we’ve
            deleted all partitions in step 15)
    24.) In the command prompt that we have just opened, type: (without quotas, for sure)
    “diskpart” and hit the enter button
    “list disk” and hit the enter button
    Now you should see your ssd as disk 0 and your hdd as disk 1
    If your ssd is disk 0 (that would be standard), write “select disk 0”, otherwise write: “select disk 1”, and hit the enter button.
    Now write “create partition primary size=4096” and hit enter again. [if you have 4GB of ram, type 4096, if you have 8 GB of ram, use 8192]
    Now write “detail disk” and hit enter to see the volume number behind the volume that we have just created (it is 4 GB or 8 respectively, should be easy to find), in my case that was “2”
    Now type “select volume 2” if your 4 or 8 GB volume has number 2 as well, otherwise use the number you found out in step f. Hit enter.
    Finally, type: “set id=84 override” and hit enter for one last time.
    It should now say back that the id has been set successfully.
    Exit the command prompt. (close)
    25.) Reboot
    26.) Install the Rapid Start driver. Reboot.
    27.) Open the Intel Rapid Storage Application.
    28.) Click on accelerate and approve the settings. Two RAID’s will be created. Reboot.
    29.) Install the remaining drivers, have fun with Windows Update and that’s it!
    Good luck to all of you… And hey Lenovo - wouldn't that have been your job after all these posts showing your costumers in trouble? Just my two cents...
    If you want, you can now turn on UEFI-boot in BIOS.
    PS: If, after installing all drivers, you happen to see one unknown device in your device manager – this one belongs to Lenovo Connect Software that came with your Laptop. (Updates FB, Email etc when PC is in sleep mode) If you install Lenovo Connect it’s going to be fine, however, I would not recommend it as it is said to use a lot of energy and cause some other problems. So just live with it, your PC is totally fine without it.
    Kind regards from Shanghai

    Seriously guys, I can't use my 3 days old laptop. Some help would be mostly appreciated. At this point, the network connection issue doesn't show up anymore, it's just a blank screen after reboot. I reinstall windows and do it all over again just to achieve the same result.
    Now couple of things caught my attention: as I load the "6flpy-x64.zip" driver from step 14, I get a message saying I need to install signed drivers, because unsigned ones are likely to mess up the system.
    Secondly, I could not find any Rapid Storage Technology drivers for Windows 7 (particularly for U310 model), so I use the Windows 8 ones (http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS031455), which seems a silly thing, yet I know of no alternatives.
    Could it be any of these issues to cause my problem? Or smth else? Please help!

  • What is the diffrence between cookies and cache, is it safe to remove cache?

    what is the difference between cookies and cache , is it safe to remove cache ? . I had cleaned cookies many times but I have not removed cache , does it goes on increasing day by day ? please let me know

    Cookies are small files that contain information useful to a web site -- such as password, preferences, last date visited, etc. You may remove the cookies that you don't want adn since some of them are a privacy issue, many people remove them all.
    Cache is just a collection of data downloaded to help display a web page. After you leave a site, much of the cache is left on your computer and is no longer needed. You can always remove the cache because it will be replaced as needed.

  • Directory Caching issue with Cisco Jabber client for Windows

    Hi ,
    I am facing cache issue with Cisco Jabber client for Windows. If I do any change related to modification or deletion of contacts in Active Directory/ Callmanager, it does not reflect in the Jabber. Because jabber takes the contacts from the locally stored cache file in the Windows system.
    Every time I have to remove the cache file to overcome this issue, practically it's not possible to do the same with all the Widows users. As, if any employee leaves the company and still I can see his contact appears in the "Cisco Jabber client". I have not seen this issue with Android/Apple iOS.
    Is there any automated way to remove the cache file?
    Here is the detail of CUCM,Presence and Jabber.
    CUCM version: 9.1.x
    Presence          : 9.1.X
    Jabber              : 10.5 and 10.6

    Hello
    On our environment we had to install a dedicated Microsoft Certificate Authority "just for Cisco Jabber usage" to house the
    Network Device Enrollment Service.
    Our certificate for the CUPS were generated on this Certification Authority too.
    I discussed this certificate matter with my colleagues this afternoon and nobody seems to remember how these certificates were deployed into the
    Enterprise Trust store for the users.
    But I think they asked all 400 users to accept the 3 certificates by answering "yes" to the popup instead of using a script deployed by GPO...
    I wish you success with that deployment and really hope you have a technical partner that *Knows* this subject.
    Our partner left us alone with that unfortunately.
    Florent
    EDIT: If the "Certutil script method" works, please let me know. This could be useful in our own deployment.

  • WEB u2013 I cache issue.

    We have BO XI 3.1 PF 1.7 and SAP BW 7.0 SP 18
    We are facing strong caching issue  with WEB- I XI 3.1 , what we observed is it cache previously fetched data and does not recognize data been updated in BW Infoprovider ( in our case we have BEx query on Direct update DSO )
    I have tried u2013
    1.     I made caching inactive for that BEx query in BW side.
    2.     I have check caching setting in BO , they are not helping me much to in active cache in BO
    On executing BEx query in BW, I have checked RSRT cash monitor; the query result is not getting cached, and get up-to-date data. Query works perfectly file.
    Also observed Events in RSDDSTAT_OLAP table, I could find very well Event 9000. This shows me that BEx query hits database and bring data back.
    When I execute BO report on the top of same BEx query, I do not get up to date data , it shows me previously fetched data and does not recognize data been updated in BW.
    Now question is where this data being getting cashed , and how to make that inactive to make sure I do get up to date data in WEB-I .
    Many thanks for your kind response.
    Regards
    Ashutosh D

    HI Ashutosh,
    This would be stored in the C:\Program Files\Business Objects\BusinessObjects Enterprise 12.0\Data\servername_6400\storage folder.  Try renaming this folder and then testing again.  If this allows for updated records, then that proves that the Webi Processing Server is getting the cached data from this directory.
    There are also a few settings you can try to disable in the Webi Processing Server settings within the CMC:
    Disable cache Sharing (Checked)
    Enable Real-Time Caching (Unchecked)
    Enable Document Cache (Unchecked)
    Cache Timeout (1 min) - sets the cache to expire after 1 min.
    Try playing with these settings and see if that resolves the issue.
    Thanks
    Jb

  • My first generation iPad suddenly stopped opening Safari.  I cleared history, cookies, and cache, and Safari still won't open.  Any suggestions?

    When I attempt to open a Safari window on my first-generation iPad, it opens to a blank screen.  I can see the web address bar and the search box, but the rest of the page is white.  I cleared cookies, history, and cache, but still nothing happens.  The iPad is 3G, and I have tried to open Safari using both 3G and my home WiFi.  My wife has an iPad 3 WiFi, and hers opens without issue.  Any suggestions on what I might do?  Thanks!

    1. Double-click the Home button to close all Inactive Apps in Task Bar
    2. Hold the Apps in Task Bar down for a second or two until you see the minus sign
    3. Tap the minus sign to close Apps
    4. Tap center of screen to return to Home Screen
    5. Reset iPad. Hold the Sleep and Home button down for about 10 second until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the red slider

  • Problems in SLD and Cache refresh (SXI_CACHE).

    Dear Experts,
    I am facing SLD and Cache refresh problems in PI 7.0 on HP-UX.

    Hello,
    Since this is an PI system, your XI consultant must have created/will need to create business systems in SLD for the scenario to work properly. This error is because it cannot find the business system.
    You cannot point out the fingers on Basis or XI and say that it is THEIR issue. Please consult with the consultant who is doing the XI interface and check if the business systems he require are properly created in SLD. If not, create them or ask them to create it (if they are allowed to..).
    From the error, what i can see is that you have defined an integration server INTEGRATION_SERVER_ABC in SLD . the XI interface is checking the required business system in the integration server INTEGRATION_SERVER_ABC in SLD but cannot find it over there. Please check the integration server INTEGRATION_SERVER_ABC in SLD and talk to the XI consultant and you will be able to fix this with their help.
    Hope this helps you..

    I had my laptop on my lap. I was wearing shorts. It noticed that it was warm on my leg where the left side of the MacBook Pro was touching my leg, but it didn't create a reflex pain response.
    Upon completing my session, when I closed the machine and put it away, I noticed a 1 inch x .75 inch blister on my leg where it had been touching the MacBook/Pro; and it has turn out to be a significant burn.
    I checked all the documentaiton that came with my MacBook Pro and there was no warning about the potential of this situation.
    I recommend that Apple let owners know, perhaps through an email or a popup when they visit the Apple site. Lastly, when I encountered this issue, I wasn't running any high performance, compute bound applications. It was email. So, I have to believe that it is possible to detect wait states within the processes running and take the processors to a low power mode of operation when they are not performing actual work. Am I out in left field here?
    I want Apple to be successful. I haven't heard of a similar complaint on any of the high performance PC's at work. Beyond a Health and Safety issue, this is also a reputation issue. Better to face into the storm and honestly deal with this issue.

    MacBook Pro Mac OS X (10.4.5) Potential Health and Safety Issue- 3rd degreee burn potential under normal use

    Mike... I do sympathize with your situation but let me correct you:
    I recently experienced a 3rd degree burn using my
    MacBook Pro
    Do you know what a 3rd degree burn is? A 3rd degree burn involves the dermis, and is full thickness involving the subcutaneous tissues and fat underneath your skin layers. This is something that usually happens when man meets fire, electrocution, and chemical burns. A 3rd degree burn is not typically achieved by a simple transfer of energy by conduction, unless extreme heat for an extended period of time.
    I had my laptop on my lap. I was wearing shorts. It
    noticed that it was warm on my leg where the left
    side of the MacBook Pro was touching my leg, but it
    didn't create a reflex pain response.
    Reflex pain response? Don't try to make up medical terminology. You didn't feel it much like you don't feel the sun when you get a sunburn initially... your skin slowly adjusted to the temperature, and at some point the heat increased over the threshold of which causes damage. You should have gone to the doctor if you were overly concerned.
    Upon completing my session, when I closed the machine
    and put it away, I noticed a 1 inch x .75 inch
    blister on my leg where it had been touching the
    MacBook/Pro; and it has turn out to be a significant
    burn.
    You're right, if you have a 1inch by almost 1 inch heat related blister on your leg, it is bad, nothing that I would consider significant. That is less then 1% of your body, probably about 0.25% to 0.5%, and only a 2nd degree burn. Your most significant complication would be a local skin infection.
    I checked all the documentaiton that came with my
    MacBook Pro and there was no warning about the
    potential of this situation.
    Actually... I'd hate to call you a liar, but I'm pretty sure that it does warn about burns.
    To confirm this, apple has also information online:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=30612
    I recommend that Apple let owners know, perhaps
    through an email or a popup when they visit the Apple
    site.
    They do... link above.

    No, you're definitely not. Here's where I start to agree with you. For the computer to heat up that much, when not doing things like rendering video is abnormal, and you deserve to have apple check out your computer. I think you should contact them on this concern.
    I want Apple to be successful. I haven't heard of a

    It's harder for other manufacturers... our computers are aluminum, designed to disperse the heat. Technically they are considered "portables" not laptops, but I don't get into that argument because I disagree with the word "portable"... it's meant to work on your lap, and if you can't comfortably using regular apps, you deserve an answer.

    Hey, at least you're taking it with some humor. It's a shame you had to get hurt as a result of your computer. If I were you I would have gone to your Primary Care Physician, documented the burn, and returned your computer for a new one, and for something say, a free iPod for your pain.
    Sorry you got hurt, I think you should have your heat issue professionally investigated through apple care

  • Caching issue in jsp or servlet

    I am not sure where I should post the issue that I have. I have a j2ee web app (struts) running on Apache Web Server + Glassfish + MySQL. My server has multi core.
    The problem is that whenever I insert a new data or delete it from a table, I don't see the change right away. Sometimes, I see the change. Sometimes I don't. It's very inconsistent.
    If the old data is cached in JSP, I shouldn't see the change in log file, but I do see it even in the log file.
    For example, I have a page managing user's folders. when I delete a certain folder name from jsp page, this folder is deleted from a db table. but when I refresh the page, I still see the folder name that is not supposed to show up. or when I go to a different page and come back to this page, I don't see it. The behavior is very inconsistent.
    If it's a browser caching issue, I don't think that I should see it in the log file, but I still see the folder name(which is supposed to be deleted) in the log file.
    I am including these lines in all included jsp pages.
    response.setHeader("Cache-Control","no-cache");
    response.setHeader("Pragma","no-cache");
    response.setDateHeader ("Expires", -1);
    does anybody have any opinion about this?
    It's hard to debug it and describe the behavior.
    But it would be very helpful if someone who had a same experience about this explains about this and tells me how to fix it.
    Thanks.

  • Acrobat Connect Pro LMS 7.5 server cache issue - displaying old content

    Our Adobe Acrobat Connect Pro server is showing old Captivate-created content from about 4-6 weeks ago.
    I loaded 35+ sets of Captivate 3 (SCORM 1.2, HTML, zipped) content onto our Acrobat Connect Pro LMS about 6 weeks ago.
    I converted all training content from Captivate 3.0.1 to 4.0.1, 4 weeks ago by opening each file in Captivate 4 and following prompts to "Save As" new files with different file names.
    I reloaded all content 4 weeks ago, and again 2 weeks ago.
    I reloaded about half of all content again last week.
    End User Acceptance testing performed this week showed that most of the courses are showing old content, ranging from 2-6 weeks old
    Attempted fixes and workarounds:
    Deleting content entirely and reloaded from scratch - this will not work long term, as we lose usage data each time we reload completely new files.
    Contacted Adobe, provided times to track incidents of the issue.  We reached Tier 2 - who told us it was our problem and that everything appeared to be working fine from their side.
    New workaround - load new content and reattach course to new content.  This presents the same long term issue as the first workaround, but enables us to retain older versions of content in the system, should we need to revert or report on it.
    Gaining server side access is a bit challenging due to the hosting situation we have, so I am looking (ideally) for a solution that can be performed from the Administrator/Author Frontend.  However, I want to learn the real cause of the problem, wherever it might reside, so that it can be properly corrected and avoided in the future.  I am calling this a server cache issue, as it seems the server has somewhere retained unwanted old versions of content, preventing current content from being displayed to end users.  Viewing content as an end user = see old content.  Viewing content from the Content area (Author view) shows the current files, so I know they are on the server and are loading correctly, up to a point.
    I am preparing all content for another round of loading/reloading due to other issues and updates, so republishing and reloading all 35+ files into the LMS is unavoidable at this point.
    This issue is keeping our LMS from launching to several thousand users across the country, so any suggestions or helpful tips are much appreciated.

    I think I have isolated the source of this problem. It's the Pitstop Professional 9 plug in. I un-installed this, and everything opens quicker than greased lightning. I re-installed it and it's back to slowsville.
    Unfortunately Pitstop is essential to my workflow.
    Until recently I did my pre-press on a Mac G5 with Acrobat Pro 7 and Pitstop 6.5. I never had this problem with slow file opening. But it seems that the delays would occur when I used the plug-in with large complex files.. So it would open files as fast as you'd expect from an elderly machine. But starting to use Pitstop would result in a prolonged period of staring at a spinning beachball.
    I wonder is there any way to stop the Pitstop plug-in from initializing until it is used? So the plug-in stays inert until you select the tool from from the menus.
