Shmat problem - is it specific to Solaris 10

I tried to run an application on Solaris 10 - it came up with an error. The truss showed that it is to do with shmat (the first shmat seemed to succeed but the second one failed with EINVAL). This ran ok on Solaris 8. This stopped us from buying new servers to run it on Solaris 10.

Sorry. The problem actually is not in the Solaris 10. I saw thise happened on the Solaris 8 server where the same application was copied from. It was some uvconfig problem - which might end up ipc calls incorrectly called. Fiddling with uvconfig fix the issue.

  • Importing Problem with one specific CD

I have previously imported this disc. It is disc 2 of a 2 disc set. I have no problem getting iTunes to recognize the other disc in the set. Now after clearing all previous info and files related to this CD I cannot get iTunes to import it. The iTunes program itself frezes whenever I insert this disc. The rest of my programs are not affected.
I have tried all of the obvious possibilties contained in the iTunes help file as well as the possible settings changes that affect importing CD's.
The program stays frozen until I restart my computer.
I am storing my music files in an external drive. That has presented no problem for this specific disc on a previous import and has not caused any trouble for the other disc copied. However once this freeze occurs and I restart my computer the primary library settings are changed from external drive storage back to the C drive storage.
Weird huh?? Anyone have a similar experience??

I have been able to play the CD in all the other players around the house including the media player in my older computer(ME / OS.) The OS CD player in the computer I use for my iTunes library recognizes the disk as well. iTunes previously imported this disk at least twice. I removed those copies and re-entered the disk a third time. The reason for the multiple entries was info mistakes and a few glitches learning how to set up the external storage.
There is nothing wrong with the disk, it is not a burned disk and has not been exposed to anything that would alter the info on it.
The problem is iTunes software related, perhaps the previous files are still lurking somewhere that I'm unable to access and this prevents the disk from being copied yet again.

Also, when I try to close firefox and restart it, the process doesn'y get killed with the normal Command + Q in Mac.
I need to use Force Quit instead.

Try updating Flash. You appear to be running an older version dating from September 2010 which might be the cause of the problem. Download from http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
If the problem persists after updating, try running Firefox in [[Safe Mode]]. If it functions properly in that configuration, then one of your add-ons is the culprit.

  • Problem buying a specific track, not tracks in general

Over in the regular Music Store they're suggesting that I
post this here even though it's not my setup that's the problem.
I am having a problem downloading a specific track, other
purchases work OK. The problem is obviously in the Store,
but iTunes Support waits 3 days to reply with a canned
e-mail blaming my "firewall" or my "web accelerator"
software. I don't need Technical Support; my software is
working fine. I need someone to fix the item in the store.
I am trying to purchase the track:
    Artist: Oregon
    Title: The Glide - Single
The track is listed in the Store and is available
to Preview, but when I try to buy it I get:
Could not purchase "Unknown". An unknown error
    occurred (5002).
There was an error in the Music Store. Please try again later.
This has been happening for 9 days now and I've tried
to buy it from 4 different computers. I do not
have trouble buying other tracks. It looks like
there is a problem with the store, not my computer.
    Thanks-
    TrackID: 1046351

Well, no doubt that "the issue has been passed to the people in charge". However, I have the feeling that if such a problem was happening to a track in the bestselling iTunes store list, the people would be far more in charge, and it would be fixed in a couple of hours instead of a couple of months, if ever.

  • Are you aware about bash security issue CVE-2014-6271 ? Do you have a patch for that? The problem may exist in all Solaris versions.

    Hi,
try to work on the charecter code set UTF-8 or UTF-16. You can define this in html.
Or encode the charecter using java script.
    Hope this may help you.

  • Boot problem for Ultra 60 running Solaris 9

I have a Sun Ultra 60 which, until the beginning of this month, was running Solaris 9 just fine. Following an emergency stop, the system refused to boot. At the ok prompt the boot command drew the response
Boot device: /pci@1f,4000/scsi@3/disk@0,0 file and args:
after which the system would hang, responding only to a mechanical power-off. The command boot -F failsafe gives the response
Boot device: /pci@1f,4000/scsi@3/disk@0,0 file and args -F failsafe
    Boot load failed
The file just loaded does not appear to be executable
after which the system returns the ok prompt without hanging, but without booting either. All OpenBoot (v. 3.23) test and diagnostic commands return normal responses.
Raising the diag-level to max, changing the diag-device to disk, and setting diag-switch? to true gets the same responses, with the following additional information:
Boot device: /pci@1f,4000/scsi@3/disk0,0 File and args -F failsafe
    Loading ufs-file-system package 1.4. 04 Aug 1995 13:02:54
    FCode UFS Reader 1.12 00/07/17 15:48:16
    Loading: /platform/SUNW, Ultra-60/failsafe
    Loading: /platform/sun4u/failsafe
    Boot load failed
The file just loaded does not appear to be executable
after which the system returns the ok prompt without booting.
Some fixes which do not work: I tried booting from CD, either the Solaris 9 software CDs or the Solaris 8 software CDs (obtained directly from Sun); these yield
    Redirected to slice: 1
    Loading: /platform/SUNW, Ultra-60/ufsboot
    Loading: /platform/sun4u/ufsboot
after which the system hangs (only mechanical shutoff works), or if the flag -F failsafe is used, the failsafe file is loaded, ``the file just loaded does not appear to be executable,'' and the system returns the ok prompt. I also tried making a bootable floppy disk by installing a bootblock, the ufsboot executable, and the kernel/unix executable from a working SunBlade 150 onto a floppy. The command boot floppy works as above, and can be forced to load the ufsboot file from the floppy, but ``the file just loaded does not appear to be executable''; the system returns the ok prompt without booting, but at least without hanging.
Presumably this is a bootblock problem, or an OpenBoot problem. But how can I restore a system (restore what?) which will not boot in the first place? Any advice is much appreciated.

Some additional information which may (or may not) shed light on this problem: If the system hangs with diag-switch? set to true, then powering off and back on becomes rather difficult. The power-on led on the front panel may flash for several minutes, with no display on the monitor. If there is no CD in the cdrom drive and no floppy in the floppy drive, the led goes off (the system is on--I can hear the hard drives spinning) for about a minute, after which the test lights on the SCSI peripherals light up, and the monitor comes on. It shows a long series of ``Probing ... '' lines which look normal, followed by the usual banner, followed by ``Resetting memory at ...,'' which runs through a series of addresses. This is followed by ``Power On Self Test Failed Cause: SIMM U0701,'' then the usual ok prompt. Then all the OpenBoot commands except boot appear to operate normally. So--
    1) Is this a hardware failure of one of the system's DIMM memory cards? Would that, in itself, account for the failure to boot, both from disk and from CD?
    2) If so, and replacing this card would solve the problem, is the required DIMM a generic item or a component specific to the Ultra 60?
    Any advice is much appreciated.

You probably need Solaris patches. I had this problem to installing on Solaris
    7. GO to Sun's web site to look for pathces relating to C runtime libs.

  • Problem with "Row-specific or Cascading Lists in Table Layout"

    Hello, friends!
I have read article "Row-specific or Cascading Lists in Table Layout" written by Steven Davelaar. I have maked several table layouts with this technique and it worked fine.
But now I have one problem, and this problem is very strange. One of VOs for which I use this table layouts throw exception after commit changes on first LOV attribute (Deptno). First time it was error
    (oracle.jbo.ReadOnlyAttrException) JBO-27008: for atribute mgrList
    at oracle.jbo.AttrValException.<init>(AttrValException.java:112)
         at oracle.jbo.ReadOnlyAttrException.<init>(ReadOnlyAttrException.java:40)
         at oracle.jbo.server.ViewRowImpl.setAttribute(ViewRowImpl.java:815)
         at oracle.jbo.jbotester.JboTesterUtil.setData(JboTesterUtil.java:173)
Then I setted updateable property of MgrList attribute to always and now i have this error:
oracle.jbo.domain.DataCreationException: JBO-25009: Cannot create an object of type:java.util.List with value:[{}]
         at oracle.jbo.domain.TypeFactory.get(TypeFactory.java:721)
         at oracle.jbo.domain.TypeFactory.getInstance(TypeFactory.java:85)
I don't know why, but all worked fine yestarday. And same code works fine for another VOs. And article Test application works fine too.
    Help me, please.
    Thank you.

  • Problem with JNI in a Solaris shared library

    Hi,
    I have a problem.
I have used JNI in my .dll on Windows & .so on Solaris . I have also used the same JNI code in a .exe on Windows & an executable on Solaris. 3 out of the above 4 combinations work & 1 doesen't. When I use JNI from a .so on Solaris 8(with/without the J2SE recommended patch), the JVM seems to have some exception & dumps core when I invoke CreateJavaVM(). This is an update to the original message -
I have tried both HotSpot & Server JVMs but still see the
    same behavior. I'm using 1.4 .
I'd like to provide more information to those who can help
me. I have a feeling there might be something wrong in my
CC options. Thus you will find below what my CC statement
looks like for one of the files in my project & for the
linking of the final shared library. I also have
provided the output of ldd on my shared library libaicd.so
& for comparison the output of ldd on libjvm.so as that
might provide some usefull information just incase
something looks suspecious & might ring a bell.

  • XI 3.0 SP 20 - Problem with adapter-specific message attributes

    Hi everyone,
I am using XI 3.0 SP 20, in SP 17 i read who SOAP adapter and mail adapter have additional adapter-specific message attributes in the message header
But in my XI SP20 dont have that function.
There arent problem in installation of SP20 (no show errors).
Can anybody tell me what is happening? Why dont have "adapter-specific message attributes" ?
    Thanks

    Hi,
you have to import the SAP XI content, SAP BASIS 6.40 have to be updated. Because the new attributes for adapters are saved in the Adapter Metadata located in the Integration Repository. If you have not update the content, you will not be able to find new options.
Start IR and navigate to the SAP BASIS 6.40, double click on this SWCV and click on the Details tab, you should be able see which Support Package the SAP BASIS has at moment. Update it to SP20 if it is still SP17. You will be able to see the required new attributes in Mail Adapter.
    regards,
    Hai

  • Problem with zone creation in Solaris 10 6/06

    Hi,
I have configured and installed a non-global zone following the example given in the guide http//www.sun.com/software/solaris/howtoguides/posgresqlhowto.jsp. My zone has the following configuration:
    # zonecfg -z pg_zone
    zonecfg:pg_zone> info
    zonepath: /export/zones/pg_zone
    autoboot: true
    pool:
    fs:
    dir: /pg_log
    special: /dev/dsk/c1d0s0
    raw: /dev/rdsk/c1d0s0
    type: ufs
    options: []
    net:
    address: 192.168.10.100/24
    physical: bge0
    zonecfg:pg_zone> exit
The installation completed but I got the following errors:
    # zoneadm -z pg_zone install
    Preparing to install zone <pg_zone>.
Creating list of files to copy from the global zone.
Copying <130101> files to the zone.
    Initializing zone product registry.
    Determining zone package initialization order.
Preparing to initialize <1059> packages on the zone.
    Initialized <1059> packages on zone.
    Zone <pg_zone> is initialized.
Installation of these packages generated errors: <SUNWgnome-a11y-libs-share>
Installation of <63> packages was skipped.
The file </export/zones/pg_zone/root/var/sadm/system/logs/install_log> contains a log of the zone installation.
When examined the logs there were several messages like this:
    SUNW_PKG_THISZONE=true in the pkginfo file.
*** package <SUNWamutl> was not installed:
The package <SUNWamutl> is registered to be installed in the
global zone only. The package may have been installed in the global
zone using the pkgadd '-G' option, or the package may contain a
request script, or the package may directly set the package attribute
    SUNW_PKG_THISZONE=true in the pkginfo file.
*** package <SUNWiimdv> was not installed:
The package <SUNWiimdv> is either not fully installed in the
global zone, or the package contains a request script. Only packages
that are fully installed in the global zone and that do not contain a
request script can be installed when a new zone is created. If this
package does not contain a request script, you can correct this
problem by removing and reinstalling the package in the global zone.
And when I try to boot the zone I get this error:
    # zoneadm -z pg_zone boot
    zoneadm: zone 'pg_zone': "/usr/lib/fs/lofs/mount -o zonedevfs /export/zones/pg_zone/dev /export/zones/pg_zone/root/dev" failed with exit code 33
zoneadm: zone 'pg_zone': call to zoneadmd failed
Any suggestion how to solve this problem?
    thanks

To answer your question wangzh: Yes I did. I actually followed exactly the procedure on the how-to-uides: http://www.sun.com/software/solaris/howtoguides/containersLowRes.jsp.
I think the problem here might reside in the script supplied in the solaris distribution for creating zones. For example, in the default configuration script, the package directories /lib /platform /var and /usr are by default set to be automatically imported. But when I try to create a zone using these defaults settings, it ends up with an mounting error that prevents the installation of the zone. only when I remove manually those directories from the configuration then the installation continues.
And during the installation process there are number of packages that are by default imported via the installation script and this is some of those packages that cause the errors here. I also tried to exclude the offending packages as suggested by henryC but I couldn't find all of them and the creation still fails at the booting.

  • Problem with luactivate procedure in Solaris 10 Update 5

We are having some issues with Live Upgrade procedures with Solaris 10 Update 5 on SUN Enterprise T5240 servers.
We have successfully performed those procedures earlier on SUN Fire v240 using Solaris 10 Update 3.
    Here is the problem statement:
    1. Created a Flar image successfully
    2. Installed on a 5240 machine from InstallServer and using jumpstart profile using a sysidcfg and flash_prof
    3. The first installation is successful and system picks up configuration information from sysidcfg file on the install server.
    4. Now we use lucreate to create another BE (Boot Environment) BE_2.
    5. BE_2 is upgraded with luupgrade using the same flar as used in step 2.
    6. Issuing command:
    luactivate -s BE_2
    7. After a init 6, system tries to boot from BE_2. This time instead of copying system files from BE_1 due to -s options specified, it instead runs the sysconfig command that asks for all the configuration options again.
    8. When we were using these steps in Solaris 10 update 3 on Sun Fire v240, everything was working fine. The system config was available in BE_2 without any issue.

iMovie10 only works in and exports 16:9 aspect ratio.
The resolution is set by that of the first video clip put in a project timeline.  To change your project to 1080p do the following:
    Create a new project
Put any known 1080p video clip in the project (it can be removed later)
Select the old project and then Edit - Select All then Edit - Copy
Select the new project and then Edit - Copy
The new project should now be 1080p.  You can remove the first clip if you want.

  • Problem with native ldapsearch in Solaris 10

    Hi all,
someone could tell me please why native ldapsearch in Solaris 10 do not work with SSL connection when same command comes with Sun Directory Server 5.2 works perfectly ?
With native ldapsearch in Solaris 10, I get the error message "Can't contact LDAP server":
    # /bin/ldapsearch -v -h ldapserver -p 636 -Z -P /var/ldap -b dc=exemple,dc=fr -s base objectclass=\*
    ldap_init( ldapserver, 636 )
    filter pattern: objectclass=*
    returning: ALL
    filter is: (objectclass=*)
    ldap_search: Can't contact LDAP server
When, on the same host, on which Directory server is installed, there's no problem:
    # /var/opt/mps/serverroot/shared/bin/ldapsearch -v -h ldapserver -p 636 -Z -P /var/ldap -b dc=exemple,dc=fr -s base objectclass=\*
    ldap_init( exemple, 636 )
    ldaptool_getcertpath -- /var/opt/mps/serverroot/alias
    ldaptool_getkeypath -- /var/opt/mps/serverroot/alias
    ldaptool_getdonglefilename -- (null)
    filter pattern: objectclass=*
    returning: ALL
    filter is: (objectclass=*)
    version: 1
    dn: dc=exemple,dc=fr
    nisDomain: exemple.fr
    objectClass: top
    objectClass: domain
    objectClass: nisDomainObject

What can I do to bind to ldap server with SSL connection from an ordinary work station?
    Thank you in advance.
    Dra

    Hi :
"The /usr/bin/ldapsearch is an old version that does not support the "-Z" and "-P" flags to test SSL connection on port 636, use the ldapsearch command from SUN DS5.0/5.1 that comes bundled with Solaris9 and usually installed at /usr/iplanet/ds5 (DS5.0/5.1) or /var/Sun/mps (DS5.1/5.2) or /var/opt/mps/serverroot (DS5.2)"

  • Problem with getting specific canvas's to display within a viewstack based on button's clicked within a tilelist

In a new application I'm creating I've managed to set it up so that a user can add up to 5 'user profile buttons' by clicking an 'add item' button and remove each one by clicking an 'remove item' when they are selected.
That part works fine, however once each button is clicked it should bring up a specific canvas view within the viewstack relevant to that particular button i.e. when a user clicks the 'New Profile 1' button the 'New Profile 1' Canvas view should then be displayed in the viewstack, when they click 'New Profile 2' it should display 'New Profile 2' canvas in the viewstack etc but I am having trouble linking each specific button to 1 specific Viewstack canvas.
The problem is if, for example, I click the 'New Profile 2' button the 'New Profile 2' canvas IS displayed in the viewstack however if I then delete the selected 'New Profile 2' button the 'New Profile 3' button slides left into it's place but now clicking on New Profile 3 brings up the new profile 2 canvas whereas it should actually bring up the new profile 3 canvas at all times.
Eventually these canvas's will be personal areas for specific users so it is important that each button in the tilelist links to that specific user but it is also important that a user can add/delete each button at all times.
I've already had the first part of this problem (which was linking the tilelist to the viewstack) more or less answered but I clicked Correct answer rather than helpful answer in my previous thread. My mistake, sorry. Is ther a better way to do this application. Heres my code so far:-

    Hi
    Try this if it works..
    1. In MultiProvider identify those key figure from both the InfoProvider ( DSOs)
    2. In BEx create KF1 . Restrict with 0INFOPROV = DSO1 ( Billing) , hide it
    3. Create KF2 . Restrict with 0INFOPROV = Cube ( condition cube) , hide it
    3. Create a Fomula Key Figure 3 with the definition
    KF3 =  KF1 + KF2* ( KF1==0)
If KF1 is zero, then KF1 == 0  will be true and it will return value 1.  So, basically you would get
    KF3 = 0 + KF2 *1 = KF2
    When KF1 is non-zero, expression KF1== 0 will be false and gives a value 0. Let;s say KF1 =5 , then
    KF3 = 5 + KF2 * 0 = 5
Now show KF3 in the report
    Regards
