Signal detection

Hi! Im currently working on an ultrassonic sensor using labview. So, i have a timer that starts when i send pulses and i want it to stop, when the receiver module of the sensor detects the ultrasound and transforms it onto a signal. My problem is that i dont know how to build an vi that stops my timer when it detects the signal from the receiver. Im using a data aquisition module for my work.

Hi Warulf,
which DAQ module do you use? (Which DAQ hardware at all?)
What is the expected time interval?
In general you read in the analog signal of your transformer/receiver with a fixed sample rate. Once you read in the signal you can easily analyze it - as the samples come with a fixed rate/time interval you can use their index to calculate the time…

  • HDMI to DVI No Signal Detected

I have a late 2006 MacBook Pro running OS X 10.6.6. I recently purchased an LG LED-LCD television as well as a HDMI to DVI adaptor cable, both from Amazon (the cable is an Amazon Basics cable). When plugged in to both the laptop and the television, there is no signal detected by the television and no display detected by the laptop. I've tried each of the three HDMI ports on the television, but to no avail. I returned the cable and exchanged it for an identical one, but the problem persists.
In searching through the forums, I've seen that quite a few people have had issues with this same setup, and I'm wondering if somehow I need more than just the cable to connect to my television (which doesn't make sense, but could still be the case). I've run a diagnostic on my laptop during startup, and found no issues with the hardware, so I'm 99% positive that I don't have a bum DVI port. At this point I'm just not sure what to do to get this to work, so any assistance would be wonderful.

Sorry for any confusion, my last post was sent before reading your second post.
The VGA test proves nothing about the DVI output. The DVI ports on these Macbook Pros is a combo DVI and analog VGA port (DVI-A). The DVI-VGA adapter does nothing more than connect the VGA to VGA, and does not convert the DVI to VGA. You have to use an actual DVI device to test the DVI. The 4 pins and large blade on the end of the DVI connector are the VGA pins - they can be omitted on a DVI-HDMI adapter with no harm.
I really don't know if there could be a problem with the software on the Mac and/or TV, and the cable just fine.
Perhaps try to seek out someone who has a working DVI-HDMI cable to try? Or try a store that will demonstrate that it works and has a money back guarantee?

then the problem is not in the video card
try >>Clear CMOS Guide<< with power cord removed and use your old VGA card to try to boot.
what is your old VGA card?

  • MBP connected to Sony LCD 46X350A - No Signal Detected

    Need help.
I've tried connecting my MBP to my Sony LCD via the VGA output (I believe that's what it is), via the cable supplied when I bought my notebook, but the message on the LCD says no signal detected.
I've went into the System Preferences, Displays and the MBP definitely recognizes that it is connected to the LCD, but I cannot get any picture (No Signal Detected Message on LCD) either by mirroring or using the LCD as an external monitor.
Any thoughts or suggestions from anyone?
    Many thanks in advance.

Im having a very similar issue. I was happily using my MBP with an external Acer Display connected, until that display simply stopped working. It now only says 'No Signal' before shutting off. Zapping the PRAM and the SMC didn't get me anywhere, so I'll be taking it to the Mac Store tonight. I'll post what they'll tell me!

I got that too. But it seeems to be working OK so far. It took sime time and the iphone restarted and now it is syncing. Hope this helps!

  • Outbound FXO calls based on Signal detection

    Hi Team,
FXO and outbound calls while the line not connected to the FXO port, is there a way to do signal detection so the call will jump to the next fxo port

For outbound call hunting you can use Trunk groups. You can assign multiple fxo ports to the trunk group and assign them priorty etc. From your dial-peer reference the trunk group and it will hunt the available line.

  • Signal detection on pins of parallel port

    hello,
i am using the outport.vi in order to write to the parallel port of my windows 98 pc. I am writing a value to the port register. To detect that, i am trying to detect a signal change directly on the pin of the parallel port using an oscilloscope. I don´t detect anyhting although the vi ran without complaining. What am i doing wrong ?
    saludos
    miriam

    Hi miriam,
I never used the access to parallel port from LV but from C based programs. As I know outport should do under Win 98.
Are you aware that the port nubmer is in Hex? The address can change if you have one or two parallel ports in your machine.
If you have one port it is 0x378 for LPT1.
If you have two ports it is 0x278 for LPT1 and 0x378 for LPT2.

  • HP x2301 no signal detected?

Okay, so here's my setup. I've got two computers with me; one, a desktop PC I built (nVidia GTX 670 graphics) and two, a macbook pro ''13.
My desktop is set up with dual monitors, both 1080p; one an Asus and the other the problematic x2301. They are connected directly to the GTX 670 with a DVI and HDMI cable respectively. They both worked absolutely fine until this morning.
I dual boot Mac OSX 10.8 and Windows 8 on my desktop, and this morning when I tried my newly installed Windows 8 the x2301 suddenly decided to turn black. The computer still thinks its plugged in though and it recognizes it in the displays preference pane, but the monitor itself is black and says no signal is coming in from the HDMI. When I tried to switch them around, as in HDMI into the Asus and DVI into the HP, the Asus had a fuzzy image and the display settings had changed. When it was set to the native 1080p, the image wasn't perfectly aligned onto the screen and it was dizzying to look at. The HP showed nothing. When I plugged both the HDMI and the DVI cables into the Asus, I could cycle between HDMI and DVI and get both pictures (the only thing was the HDMI picture was fuzzy again).
The only thing that could be wrong I thought was the hardware in the monitor itself. I broke out the Macbook and plugged in a VGA cable into it, and lo and behold a picture was shown on the HP. It was set to 1920*1080 at 60Hz but there was oddly some black space (about a centimeter) at either side of the picture. The image itself was clear though; it didn't seem as if it had been compressed.
By the way, I tried all of these tests on Mac and Windows on the desktop. Neither would recognize the HP. Even when the Asus was disconnected and the HP solely connected by either DVI or HDMI the BIOS wouldn't show onto the HP.
Taking all of this into account, it means that:
    1. The graphics card is fine, as an image was displayed on the Asus and just not on the HP,
    2. Both the HDMI and DVI cables are fine, as they can both be connected to the Asus.
    3. The HP doesn't seem to be totally broken, as the macbook can show a picture on it.
What's up with the monitor? I have no clue what could be wrong because the HP does detect VGA and it was working absolutely fine not five hours ago. The desktop PC is totally fine too — I'm typing this post on it using the Asus monitor. Should I send in the HP to a technician? I tried to reset it to factory settings using its OSD, but no luck.
What about the fact that the HDMI signal is fuzzy on the Asus? That has absolutely nothing to do with the HP — after all, the HP is disconnected!
This is making me tear my hair out!
Apologies for the tortuous post, I will clarify if need be.

Contact HP and arrange to send it in for warranty service.
    Best regards,
    erico

  • 2011 Mac Mini w/Intel HD3000 video signal loss on HDMI and Thunderbolt?

I've had this issue since I first purchased my Mac Mini back in August.  I also discussed this issue with a friend who just purchased a Mac Mini too, and he has the exact same problem.  When connected to my monitor via HDMI, the screen will flicker to green, go out, then come back on.  Sometimes I have to cycle my monitor input button before the screen returns.   Also, if I connect to my monitor via DVI to Thunderbolt adapter, the screen flickers to "snow", then cuts out intermittently. It's the same problem either way.  I'm connected to a new Asus VE276Q 27" monitor. I connect my Xbox and PC to the same display with no issues whatsoever. This is my first Mac product and I'm VERY frustrated with this problem. A firmware update was released a few months back regarding flickering when connected to an Apple Cinema display, but this had no effect on My machine. I've also verified the display refresh rate setting as well.  Anyone else out there having this problem?

I recently got the 2.3 GHz Mac Mini. I tried hooking it up to a Viewsonic VX2035 with the enclosed HDMI DVI converter. I get the same results as you. Nothing on the monitor. It says no analog signal detected. Then the monitor goes into sleep mode. I hooked it up to a  32" Westhinghouse HDTV using a HDMI cable and it works fine.

  • Mini DisplayPort to VGA, suddenly isn't detected

I use a VGA projector hooked to an early-2009 20" iMac for teaching classes. Had no problems with it whatsoever for a couple of months; was always detected and everything set up fine when I turned the projector on for a class. Last week I turn the projector on and nothing; no signal detected. Couldn't remember if I had run the MiniDP-VGA adapter update or not; but since it doesn't detect a display, it won't let me run it. Tried different VGA cables; no luck. Went out and got a new adapter, no luck. Tried various combinations of powering projector on before iMac and vice versa; no luck. Only monitor I have handy was an old CRT, but it wasn't detected either. Any ideas? I've got several classes lined up to teach in the next month.

Did you go to System Preferences Displays pane and try adjusting various settings for the projector's pane. If you cannot see the projector's preference pane, use the +Gather Windows+ button. If there is no +Gather Windows+ button, then the second display (the projector in this case) is not being recognized.
You can try this test. Start up that MacBook Pro in FireWire Target Disk Mode.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1661
Connect it to the iMac using a FireWire cable. It should show up as a external FireWire drive. In System Preferences +Startup Disk+ pane, select it as the startup disk for the iMac. Restart the iMac (with the projector connected) using the system on the MacBook. Since it worked on the MacBook, if your problem is software-related, it should now work in the iMac (because it is booting off a different system).
If it still does not work, the problem is more likely to be hardware-related. It might be the adapter or the iMac's port.

  • Thunderbolt to HDMI does not detect TV on Yosemite

I am having the same problem as a lot of people with Yosemite and and connecting to a TV/external monitor via thunderbolt to HDMI but have found a sort of a solution or at least a bit more info that might lead to someone having a eureka moment. I have a Mac Book Pro, my partner a Mac Book Air. I bought a thunderbolt to HDMI cable from eBay so my partner could plug her Air into the TV. When the cable arrived, it would not detect our LG TV from either computer. So a bit of playing around and this is what I found.
I plugged the cable from my MBP direct to the HDMI port on the TV and nothing, no signal detected.
I also tried from the MBP to the HDMI port on the amplifier of the surround sound system and again nothing.
However, if I plug the cable from my MBP directly to the TV HDMI and select that corresponding HDMI port on the TV initially still nothing. But if I then plug a normal hdmi-to-hdmi cable from my amplifier to the Mac Pro's HDMI port, suddenly the thunderbolt cable works and the Display Preferences sees the LGTV. I checked that the correct hdmi port was selected on the TV for the direct connection and I could even turn off my amplifier to make sure that I was not seeing the wrong signal and it still worked as long as the hdmi-to-hdmi was still connected at both ends. However, if I then unplug the HDMI cable from MBP or the amp, the thunderbolt port stops working as well and the TV displays "no signal detected".
It seems that there needs to be either a base signal or an earthing through the MacBook Pro's HDMI port for it to switch into an external monitor mode that will detect a thunderbolt to HDMI connection. This is sort of fine for my MBP as I had nothing working before but it seems a bit pointless having the HDMI cable plugged in as well as I might as well just use this in the first place. However, as my partner's Air only has a thunderbolt port and no HDMI port it still doesn't work with her MAC.
Hopefully someone will see this and have a brainwave.

A bit more playing around and I found that as above with the thunderbolt to HDMI plugged into the TV and a hdmi-to-hdmi plugged into the amp, with the amp turned off, I could get the thunderbolt to HDMI working. When I then went to the Display in System Preferences and the Arrangement pane, it was showing three displays, one for the MBP screen, one for the LG TV and one for the amp HDMI port (even though it was turned off). When I then unplugged the HDMI cable from the MBP the arrangement screen was no longer available as it only recognised the MBP screen. This was the same regardless of whether I was mirroring the displayed or had them as three separate displays.

  • Why can't I get an image or signal from Air to projector?

Even with the VGA displayport to VGA adapter, no signal seems to et to the projector, display option so not show projector.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions
You're certain you are coming out of the MBA into the IN VGA port on your monitor? If the adaptor and cable are working your MBA should automagically detect the projector as a connected monitor in the System Preferences:Display control panel. Has the cable worked with any other computer?
Information included with your Projector should describe the resolution it supports. If your MBA resolution is set outside that parameter that may be why you see no image. However, the Monitor should either display "no signal detected" (which tells us the port, adaptor or cable may be at fault or some image, if it detects a signal.

  • Upgraded to Yosemite and now external display is not detected

I just upgraded to Yosemite on my 2009 MacBook Pro and now it won't detect the external display.  It worked perfectly before the upgrade.  I have the display connected by USB.  Is there anything that can be done about this?  I really need that external display for work and am really regretting downloading Yosemite.

Exactly the same issue.  My Eizo Coloredge was working fine after installation until (just now) I dared to do a restart...
I have tried various different displays and connections over the past 20 minutes and have restarted my mac (late 2013 MBP 15' Retina) and connected / disconnected multiple times.  Neither my Coloredge via Thunderbolt or HDMI (no signal detected) is recognised, nor a Samsung LCD via HDMI.
SO frustrating that something this basic should now be 'broken' when it was fine under Mavericks (and earlier OS).  Come on Apple, let's get a fix.  Plenty of people rely on external monitors.
    Sigh.

  • Upon wakeup from sleep, external display is not detected

Hello. I have a mini display port to vga and have an external display hooked up to my 15" macbook pro. Once I put the macbook pro to sleep, and then wake it up, it turns to a blue screen (the kind when you plug in or remove an external monitor), and then prompts me for my password. Does anyone else have this issue? I think it might be because I did not buy the "official" mini display port to vga adapter (got mine from monoprice), and want to know if anyone has this issue using the official adapter. Thanks.
