Simple Membership Provider Migration Error

I am trying to publish my website using Windows Azure. I have migrations enabled and I am also using Simple Membership Provider. When I publish the website the Simple Membership tables are created in my database but none of my other tables are created.
I get the error "There is already an object named 'UserProfile' in the database." The migration works properly localy. How can I get the migration to work when publishing?

Hi,
Try to drop all tables created in your Azure database.
You probally pushished your website before enabling migrations, so SimpleMembershipProvider create his tables with a another migration information unknown by your migrations.
By default EF use CreateDatabaseIfNotExists initializer, so if you clear your database normally, EF apply all migrations.
Bests regards,

  • Possible bug in configuration of Membership Provider (ODT 11.1.0.5.10 beta)

    The Oracle Membership Provider would not allow me to set the minRequiredNonAlphanumericCharacters via the web.config.
    When I tried to set the "minRequiredNonAlphanumericCharacters" property for the Oracle Membership file via web.config, I got the following error when running the ASP.net Web Site Administration Tool:
    "The specified attribute minRequiredNonAlphanumericCharacters was no recognized. (D:\Documents\CAL\Web\web.config line 112)"

    Have you tried the 11.1.0.6.20 release? This issue should have been fixed.
    Attribute names are case-sensitive. As you are aware, by Microsoft's naming convention that all attribute names are identical to property names except the first letter becomes lower-case. But there is an exception.
    Property Name:
    MinRequiredNonAlphanumericCharacters
    Attribute Name: supposedly
    minRequiredNonAlphanumericCharacters
    But no!
    It's minRequiredNonalphanumericCharacters !
    The "A" in "Alphanumeric" becomes "a" as well.
    I don't know why Microsoft makes such an exception. But the Membership provider in Oracle Providers for ASP.NET (11.1.0.6.20) is now following this exception.

  • Packup - a simple backup/restore/migration script for Pacman

    I have seen numerous posts on the forums asking for an easy way to backup and restore installed software for purposes of backup, migration or simply for convenience. Packup attempts to fill this void. Simply put, Packup is an ncurses wrapper for Pacman which provides a simple backup/restore/migration system for Arch. Don't believe me? Try it for yourself!

  • Multiple installs of causing Data provider internal error (-3000) on Open

    Hi,
    We have an application written against Oracle ODP 10.1.0.401 that's been deployed out on a web farm working great for some time now, however recently another area has asked to get ODP for 11g installed on that server. The install originally broke our application, but we were able to resolve most of the issues after following all of the appropriate "PATH" reordering and registering appropriate dlls. In fact, we finally got a server completely back up and running both versions with no issues.
    Unfortunately, it's a load-balanced server, and while one of the two servers is working correctly, the second seems to be having issues with specific parts of the install. We're trying to fix it on the second server now, and will be doing the same install shortly in our production environments.
    I was able to break the error out and create a very simple test app to eliminate as many variables as possible. It appears to be an issue with the driver when we enlist into a Distributed Transaction.
    The following code works fine:
    var connection = new Oracle.DataAccess.Client.OracleConnection(connectionStringBase + "Enlist=False");
    connection.Open();
    While this code does not:
    var connection = new Oracle.DataAccess.Client.OracleConnection(connectionStringBase);
    connection.Open();
    In both examples, connectionStringBase is Data Source=...;Validate Connection=true;User ID=...;Password=...; (where ... represents masked values). I've also tried "Enlist=True" in case the default was a problem, but it also fails.
    The exceptions we're getting on the server happen in the .Open() call. The stack trace is:
    [OracleException: Data provider internal error(-3000) [System.String]]
    Oracle.DataAccess.Client.OracleException.HandleErrorHelper(Int32 errCode, OracleConnection conn, IntPtr opsErrCtx, OpoSqlValCtx* pOpoSqlValCtx, Object src, String procedure) +779

    System.Web.UI.Page.ProcessRequestMain(Boolean includeStagesBeforeAsyncPoint, Boolean includeStagesAfterAsyncPoint) +2604
    I've read a few articles on this particular error and found that it's generally considered an ambiguous error with many potential causes, most of which I've been trying to test and rule out. While I don't have direct access to the server, I've been working with someone who does and they have compared registry settings and registered dlls, and have told me that the 2 servers match, and we've already re-installed the 10.1 drivers hoping it would help, but at this point we're stumped. I've read that it's possible that the COM+ install could have become corrupt, but what confuses me is that just prior to the 11g install, everything works great, and after doing no more than an ODP 11g install, it breaks. Do you have any advice or suggestions we could try?
    Thanks in advance for any insight you might have!
    ~Jeff

    If I read your post correctly that this is a "everything is equal as far as we know, but box A works and box B doesn't" type situation, my first suggestion would be to get Process Explorer from http://sysinternals.com, and compare the loaded modules between the working and non-working servers. You'll probably find that you're not using the software you think you're using, or have mismatched dlls across homes, or something to that effect. Once you figure out what the difference between the two is, correcting it will probably be the easy part.
    Hope it helps,
    Greg

  • SQL Azure Membership Provider.

    Hello!
    I have an ASP.NET WebForm application that use SqlServerMembershipProvider. I want to upload the application to Windows Azure and Sql Azure.
    Now I have a Sql Server 2008 database, and membership tables are part of my application's database.
    Can I continue using Sql Server Membership like I've been using until now?

    I'm after exactly the same thing. Just stuck on what the membership provider settings should be. All the searches online are suggesting ..
     <membership defaultProvider="TableStorageMembershipProvider" userIsOnlineTimeWindow="20">
        <providers>
         <clear/>
         <add name="TableStorageMembershipProvider" type="Microsoft.Samples.ServiceHosting.AspProviders.TableStorageMembershipProvider"
           description="Membership provider using table storage" applicationName="WebFormAzureStore" />
        </providers>
       </membership>
    ..but that results in an error.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Data Provider Internal error(-3000): please help!

    Hi,
    I've a Web Application using Oracle Data Provider 9.2.0.2 to communicate with mu oracle DB.
    I'm using the ExecuteNonQuery function to run a SQL statement (it's a select connect by), but after some time, I get the following error:
    Data Provider Internal error(-3000)
    It seems to happen if the query takes a lot of time.
    If I reduce the number of returned rows, I don't get the error anymore.
    After some searches through the internet I found that the problem should fixed in the next ODP release, 9.2.0.4: I installed it too, but with no success.
    I played with the connection timeout and some other parameters without solving the error.
    Someone can help me?
    Thanks.
    Daniele.

    I met the same question too.
    I list your problem below:
    my ODP.net is 9.2.0.4.
    code snippet is below:
    string constring = "user id=gz;data source=ipas_local;password=gz";
                        OracleConnection conn = new OracleConnection(constring);
                        OracleCommand cmd = new OracleCommand(sql,conn);

                             lblMessage.Text = ex.ToString();
                        finally
                             conn.Close();

  • Using Data-Dependent Routing in combination with Membership provider

    Hi there!
    Currently we have two Web applications running on azure using a single SQL database. We are experiencing problems with performance because we are using only one database. We are investigating some solutions like documentDB and elastic scale.
    DocumentDb seems like a really good option for us because it looks like it can be implemented easily and we know just what to do.
    With elastic scale on the other hand we have to figure out what our options are. We are using a membership provider for our users to login in one of the two applications. The other web applications does not use a membershipprovider, it does not use a login
    system at all.
    in the backend of our code we determine a subscription_id for both applications to retrieve tenant data.
    I think we have a few options here
    1. to keep using the membershipprovider we could create a database just for the login mechanism so we can determine the subscription_id, and with that subscription_id we can use Data-Dependent Routing to retrieve the correct data from the correct shard.
    2. We can add extra columns to the Shard Map Manager database (i think i've read that it's not supposed to be used for user data) like username and password so we can login through this database.
    Does anyone has better options than the options mentioned before and can anyone give me advise on how we should deal with these issues?
    Thanks!

    Elmar --
    The best approach would be to maintain the Membership DB in a separate Azure SQL database.  Then you could shard your transaction details across an Elastic Scale set of databases based on the subscription ID.   (The Shard Map Manager
    database is not designed to be extended with additional columns, and Elastic Scale works by caching that Shard Map data in the client application anyway, and those in-memory structures can't be changed).
    You would use an ordinary ADO.Net connection to query membership for a Subscription ID, and then get an appropriate shard-specific connection using the Elastic Scale GetOpenConnectionForKey method, passing the subscription ID retrieved from
    the membership query.

  • Data provider internal error(-3000)  during DataAdapter.Fill

    I get this error sporadically.
    From other messages on this forum, it seems others are having similar problems. It appears the Oracle staff
    is still struggling to identify and fix (or did I miss a post?)
    I hope the next release can include some more informative diagnostic error messages. (no judgment implied, just a suggestion).
    But I need this to work, so I'm posting my
    info as well in hopes it will help.
    Sorry for the length, but I think all the detail may be needed to diagnose.
    I have been using ODP.Net for weeks without trouble
    until recently. I just added a CLOB field to my table yesterday, and
    the problem started. I don't know whether that's cause or coincidence.
    Possible workarounds I will try:
    1) Explicit select of columns rather than select *
    2) Retry once on failure after short delay
    Below, I'm including the exception message from the ASP.Net page.
    It occurs at the same spot in my code, but often
    it works fine. Now, an hour later, I cannot repeat the problem.
    I've edited the "Source Error" section to
    provide more of the code, so you can see the full context.
    I've also pasted the stored procedure called so you can see what that is about.
    I need this to work, so feel free to contact me if you need further information
    to diagnose this in order to fix it.
    I go live on March 7, so if I don't get a fix soon and can't find
    a workaround, I'll just make a lame error message like "Site is very busy, please try again".
    Even though the site is NOT busy. But having them try again seems to work.
    And I don't want to tell them why I'm asking them to try again <grin>.
    I am thinking of putting a try/catch block and sleeping for a second and then trying one more
    time in my code. I'll let you know if that is an effective work-around.

  • Benefit of SharePoint 2013 sql server membership provider

    Hi All,  Please share your thoughts for this..
    We are working with SharePoint 2013 public facing website with Form based authentication. Anyone can register and start using our site. We are storing
    all the user related data in Active directory. As of now we are having around 25000 users in our portal . We are planning to move all external user information from AD to SQL membership table. Could you please suggest me to benefit of using SQL membership
    instead AD

    performance-wise, they're pretty similar either way (given a single dedicated role server).
    security-wise, compared to SQL, AD makes some data easier to access (since LDAP queries can expose data to any user), but harder to hack (obtain copy of hashed passwords)
    As far as management, there is NO management interface for the SQL membership provider... including USERS (reset password, lock/unlock account, etc), not just groups.
    As far as SSO technology, SqlMembershipProvider is absolutely NOT an SSO technology. Not to say that it can't be used for logins, but authentication and single sign-on are two very different goals.
    I would also argue that since you can't decrypt the AD passwords, the move to SQL is going to be a little difficult for users.
    And, have you considered adding another AD server instead? With a little bit of fiddling around, you can add a dedicated AD server and prioritize SP authentication requests where you want.

  • BPS Flat file load ABAP objects migration error.

    Hello
    We are trying to load a flat file via the SAP-GUI and BPS and everything works well in DEV based on the HOw-TO guide. When trying to move the ABAP objects to QA, we get a migration error on the type /1sem/_yth_data_260ZBYAPEPL. Of course the 260ZBYAPEP is relevant to our configuration and in QA we do have the equivalent structure /1sem/_yth_data_614ZBYAPEPL.
    How come the type in DEV does not translate to the equivalent type in QA just like any objects we transport to QA?
    Thank you all.
    YB.

    Dear YB,
    the element /1sem/_yth_data_260ZBYAPEPL has to be changed according to the QA manually only. Sytem can't change the clent no. automaticaaly when u transport to the QA.
    so in /1sem/_yth_data_260ZBYAPEPL replce 260 with ur QA Client no.
