Since upgrading to Mavericks, some spelling errors are no longer corrected

Question

I almost always transpose the word "the" to hte and teh when I type.  Spell checker in Pages picks it up and corrects it but not in Mail, only since upgrading to Mavericks a couple weeks ago.  I went in to my Library folder and found a Custom dictionary, an "en" dictionary, and a LocalDictionary, all text files with words that I had added over the years.  I thought if Mail's spell checker wasn't finding hte and teh, that I must have somehow added them to one of the dictionaries.  But neither word appeared any of the three dictionaries.  If it did, I would have deleted them.  Is there another dictionary in Mavericks that I am missing? 
This seems odd since it started only after upgrading to Mavericks.  And I have both misspellings included in "Correct spelling automatically" in Language & Region Preferences > Keyboard Preferences > Text > Replace __ With __.  I even tried to remove them and then add them back in but it made no difference.

Hello.  I too have a Mail spelling issue since Mavericks.  My mail has never made any automatic corrections - only suggestions - and I am not sure how to get that going.  Anyhow, these days when the speller doesn't recognise a word and I go in and add an accent to that word (alt+e+e), it infuriatingly sends the message immediately without continuing the spellceheck.  Any ideas gratefully received.
