Six system landscape configuration in SAP ChaRM

Hi,
Our requirement is such that we need to connect six system 3 developments, 2 testing and one production to the charm configuration.
DEV1---> DEV2 -
> DEV3 -
> QUA1 ---> QUA2 -
> PRD
How to achive to achive this, we donot want to add simply the systems in the task list. How to modify the standard message status in  CHaRM flow so that a change request created in DEV1 reaches DEV2 only when it is released and we get message status as "transported to DEV2 " and simillarly for all the other systems.
Advance thanks for all those reply.
Best regards,
Vin

Hi Nesimi,
Thanks for your reply,
We want the system options to be displayed in the change request status message itself. What i mean is once development is completed in DP1, we should get a option in the change request to " move to dp2 ". Simillarly we have two quality systems after complete development, we desire to have the option of selecting the quality system in the change request action tab itself
Best regards,
Vin

  • System landscape changes after activating charm

I need to change the system landscape on a maintenance project. I need to add an additional QA client to the project landscape. I have open change requests that I can not move to production yet so I can not complete the project. I have created another project and tested forcing the cycle closed and creating a new cycle, but the change docs are associated to the old cycle number. I have followed the steps in the charm FAQ for closing inconsistent project cycles (note 933705), but I couldnu2019t re-associate the change docs with the new cycle or project. I would think the need to change the landscape when you have open change docs would come up fairly often. If someone has successfully done this would you please provide the steps?
    Thanks
    Jeff

    Hi Jeff,
ChaRM supports the logical component changes and also with modifiable transport orders.
Please take a look at the following link:
Change Request Management scenario: Usual questions and known errors
    /people/dolores.correa/blog/2009/07/22/change-request-management-scenario-usual-questions-and-known-errors
    6. Changes in the logical components of a project where Charm is already activated
    8. Completing a task list
A task list can be closed even with modifiable transport orders according to note 1071412 "Completing a task plan with changeable transport requests".
Then when you create a new cycle, the system automatically assigns these processes and objects to the new cycle. This is also logged in application log. To display the log entries, you can use transaction /TMWFLOW/MAINTINST. Navigate to the tab with your project type (usually the maintenance project) and choose 'Create...' and 'Execute'. Then select the required project and choose 'Messages at Time of Creation'.

  • CRM System Landscape Configuration

I have successfully configured the Connecter and the Connection test to the CRM backend system is successful.  However, I cannot get the connection to the Web AS for the CRM system to work.  I know the port and system name for the CRM Web AS, but I'm not sure I have the Path right.  Can anyone tell me what is the correct path for a CRM Web AS system?

    Hello John,
you have to maintain the hostname of the CRM Web AS. The Path will be generated from the CRM Business Packages you have to import into the Portal. You can use the Best Practice guides at http://help.sap.com/bp_epv260/index.htm. Go to -Business Scenarios -> N31: Activity Management -> N03: Connectivity.

  • You do not have permission to view the System Landscape Directory.

    Hello there,
When I accessed my SLD from portal, it took me to the page but kept saying:
    - You do not have permission to view the System Landscape Directory. Minimum required: UME role with permission com.sap.lcr.LcrUser and J2EE role LcrUser. See the SLD Post-Installation Guide for details
    - SLD not configured; configure the SLD in Administration first.
I searched on these forums for the above error. Got some results, but nothing really substantial that has helped/fixed my problem.
I also read a bit on SLD from the pdf file named: System Landscape
    Directory of SAP NetWeaver 2004s
I also worked on the security roles and actions to individual
users or user groups like for ex: the above pdf file advised I map the security roles from Visual Administrator, to the created roles in the portal. I've done that too. Like create a user group: 'SAP_SLD_ADMINISTRATOR'  and create a user role corresponding to it, which would be: 'LcrAdministrator'
Then, I went to visual administrator, and clicked on 'Assign User Groups to Roles'
Even after this, I tried to access the SLD from portal: It is still giving me the same error I mentioned above in bold italics.
Can somebody please help me how to fix this issue?
    Thanks
    Dino.

    Graham:
Thank you very much for making the effort to reply to my query.
But, it still hasnt solved my problem yet.. for some reason even though I followed your instructions and did what you advised.
I have attached a screenshot of my Visual Administrator screen that you advised me to modify/change.
    Here it is: http://img166.imageshack.us/img166/2259/screenshot002co1.jpg
After I made the changes, I restarted the J2EE server and went to my portal SLD page: [http://org-x:50000/sld]
Tried authenticating usernames: LcrAdministrator and Administrator.
Both attempts resulted in the same error show below:
    - You do not have permission to view the System Landscape Directory. Minimum required: UME role with permission com.sap.lcr.LcrUser and J2EE role LcrUser. See the SLD Post-Installation Guide for details
    - SLD not configured; configure the SLD in Administration first.
I am wondering, if you would have another workaround regarding this issue, can you please let me know?
    Thanks
    Dino.

  • Doubts in System Landscape Directory

    Hello All,
I got some basic doubts in SLD.
Why do we need to store the information about the installed products and to be installed products in software catalog?
And, what is this techncal system?
After reading few help sites, what I understand is the following:
For example SAP is a product and  CRM etc are the software components. We create the technical system for this product like for client 100 we create a technical system and for client 200 we create another technical system. And we give some logical names, called business sytems, to these technical systems.
My second question is, why do we need to create all these information(the information in SLD)? Why cant we directly create messages types, message interfaces etc and configure them in Integration directory without using the information in SLD like business system?
In Integration Directory, we say that the sender is one Business System and receiver is another business system. These business system are created based on some technical systems. These technical systems are based on some software components and product. This product and the software component might be a installed or non installed product. Then how do we can get the connection between the sender and the business system? Can you please explain me the idea behind considering the sender and reciever as business systems.
Can anybody please clear the above doubts?
    Priya

    Hi Priya,
    <u><b>SLD:</b></u>
The System Landscape Directory of SAP NetWeaver (SLD) serves as a central information repository for your system landscape. A system landscape consists of a number of hardware and software components that depend on each other with regard to installation, software updates, and demands on interfaces.
    - so talking about the working of an SLD, here if any information is required for the integration server regarding the systems(logical or physical) and the software (installed products) it refers to the SLD.
    - to tell you about the other features it has....it captures the dimensions of the system landscape like solution dimension, transport dimension and technical dimension.
    - putting it in short XI IS A CLIENT OF SLD
Also go thru this link and understand more about SLD <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/31/f0ff69551e4f259fdad799a229363e/frameset.htm">System Landscape Directory</a>
    <u>
    <b>SOFTWARE CATALOG:</b></u>
The SLD contains a Software Catalog of all installable SAP products and software components. The Software Catalog includes information about support packages and dependencies between the products and software components. This information is the basis for the description of the system landscape.
Also go thru this link and understand more about Software Catalog <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/a2/2999ef97ea2b4790165f9ca5c05c41/content.htm">Software Catalog</a>
<u><b>TECHNICAL SYSTEM, BUSINESS SYSTEMS, SOFTWARE PRODUCTS:</b></u>
Technical system correlates the software to the physical host on which it is installed
Or in other words Technical systems are application systems that are installed in your system landscape.
    - they are actually the basis for defining the business systems.
    - we assign a technical system to a business system to help the SLD make the appropriate association.
    - the software products used by the business system are got from the technical system definition.
    - to note 1 technical system can have more than one business system assigned to it....and as told the SLD make the appropriate association between them.
Also go thru this link and understand more about each of it:

  • How to perform system copy using standard sap method (sapinst)

    Hi guys
pls tel how to perform system copy using standard sap method (sapinst) and to perform enterprise portal RESTORSTION.
    thanks
    kamal

    Hi Kamal,
I have done a system copy of the production portal to a sandpit system before. The system copy export import method works very well, and is easy. For my portal, the whole procedure took me less than 6 hours.
    1. Go to this page: System Copy and Migration
    2. See the videos "Demo: How to Perform a System Copy Export" and "Demo: How to Perform a System Copy Import".
This should give you the basic idea.
I did a systemcopy using sapinst. If I remember right, this is the steps I performed:
    1. On target host, Installed a new Central services.
    2. On source host: Ran sapinst system copy export for Central Instance and Database instance. This created two export files (depending on your database size).
    3. Used the export files created in previous step to run the import step in target host.
    4. Some post processing steps, like configuring sso, creating systems in system landscapes, configuring WD JCos etc.
Let me know if you need more help.
    Cheers
    Rishi

  • Best practice: Webdynpro in a large system landscape

    Dear Sirs,
I have a few questions about using Webdynpro (WD) in a large system landscape.  After doing some research I understand there are a few alternatives, and I would like to get your opinions on the issue and links to any relevant documentation. I know most of my questions do not have a single answer, but I hope we can get a disussion, which will highlight the pro/cons.
My landscape consists of a full set of ECC and portal servers (DEV, QA, P) , where using WD to fetch BABI’s from the backend and present them in the portal is a likely scenario.
<b><i>Deploy the WD components on portal servers or on separate servers?</i></b>
Would you deploy the WD components on the portal WAS or would you advice having a (or a number) of servers dedicated to running WD.
The way I see it, when you are having a large number of developers, giving  away the SDM password to the portal server (DEV) in order for them to test WD applications is not advisable (or perhaps more true, not wanted by the basis). So perhaps a separate WAS for development of WD is advisable, and then let basis deploy them into the portal QA and PROD server.  I do not think that each developer having its own local J2EE for testing is likely.
How about performance?, will any solution be preferable over an other. Will it be faster/slower to run WD on separate WAS.
    <b><i>Transporting the WD components</i></b>
How should one transport the components and keep them pointing to the right JCO connections (as you have different JCO connections for (DEV, QA, P)), I have seen example with threads where you opt for a dynamic setting of the JCO connections through parameters.  Is this the one to prefer?
Any documentation on this issue would be highly appreciated. (Already read: System Landscape Directory, SAP System Landscape Directory on SAP Web AS Java 6.40)

Look into using NWDI as your source code control (DTR) and transport/migration from dev through to production.  This also will handle the deployment to your dev system (check-in/activate).
For unit testing and debugging you should be running a local version (NWDW).  This way once the code is ready to be shared with the team, you check it in (makes it visible to other team members) and activate it (deploys it to development server).
We are currently using a separate server for WD applications rather than running them on the portal server.  However, this does not allow for the WD app to run in the new WD iView.  So it depends on what the WD app needs to do an have access to.  Of course there is always the Federated Portal Network as an option, but that is a whole other topic.
For JCo connections, WD uses a connection name and this connection can be set up to point to different locations depending on which server it is on.  So on the development server the JCo connection can point to the dev back-end and in prod point to the prod back-end.  The JCo connections are not migrated, but setup in each system.
I hope this helps.  There is a lot of documentation available for NWDI to get you started.  See:  http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp2005/helpdata/en/01/9c4940d1ba6913e10000000a1550b0/frameset.htm

  • Regarding set up of system landscape

We want to have only a 2 system landscape for our SAP deployment i.e. Within the development server, we shall have development client and quality client and then just have another production server.
Since we have confirmed that this is possible, please let me know the disadvantages in doing so and also if we need to anticipate for trouble shooting.
    Thanks & regards,
    Tommy.

    HI,
1.Small and simple R/3 installation for up to 50 users and 2-system might beadequetly administrated with 2 system managers doing most of the tasks and external resources for occasional help.
2.A Two system landscape is not optimal because development and quality assurance testing both occur in the development system.since no separate quality assurance system is available, all objects transported to the consolidation system immediately become part of production.
    Mainly Disadvantages:
    1. Development quality assurance are perfomed in the same R/3 system.
    2. Unable to fully test Repository objects and cross client customizing before these are transported to production.
    3. No verification of transports before delivery to production.
    Feel free to revert back.
Please provide points if u get the answer.

  • Transporting 3 system landscape

    Hi,
We have a 3 system landscape configured. Transports created in DEv are moved to QA and then to PRD. Now a transport has been created in QA.  When we release them, datafiles and cofiles are not created.
Please assist me in this issue. How do i get data and cofiles at OS level. I cannot change my transport route
Is there any tp cpmmands that will create data and cofiles at OS level.

In you QA box Change the settings in SCC4 in
"Changes and Tranport for -Client-Specific object."
If changes without automatic recording are allowed in a particular client, you can edit these on a maintenance screen without a request prompt window.
If you have activated automatic recording for a client, whenever you save changed client-specific Customizing settings a Transport Organizer query window appears. Here you can choose Own requests to generate a list of Customizing requests that contain your tasks or, alternatively, Create request to create a new request for the client in question

  • Basis - 2 System Landscape Possibility

Having QA "clients" is not possible because there are many things, that are cross client:
    - ABAP (corrections)
    - Data Dictionary
    - Cross client customizing
Hence, you can't "test" those things, once you have an ABAP error in one client, you will the same in the other client too.

  • Visualizing SAP XI routing configuration across the system landscape

    Hi Experts
Iam facing some challenges in visualizing SAP XI routing configuration across the system landscape (Development, Quality, Production). Basically routing is based on a field (technical target system). Depending on the environment we have different target systems (different Mainframe DB that represent the same target system) configured.
Any word/excel/ppt/pdf templates or any comments that could help visualizing routing would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks! Santosh

    Hi Santhosh,
If you are worrieed about how your Business Systems will change when you move from Dev to QA to PROD for the Configuration in your ID, then the answer is simple.
You can create transport target for your Business System and so when you migrate the ID objects from dev to Qa and so on, the business Systems will be automatically replaced.
