Slideshow Failure

I'm on a Mac G5, Leopard, 2.5 GIGS ram, LR2 working with RAW files. I have a 65 image slideshow, edited in LR and one in PS3. I have music. The first time I ran through the slideshow, it made it all the way to the end with no problem. Subsequent times, after making modifications to many images, it would stop going thru to the end. Most of the time, not even half way through. Music would play, but it would return to the beginning slide. I shut down, rebooted, and ran the s.s. again. Same result. Music goes on, but the slides do not. What do I need to do, and where do I need to look? Thanks in advance!

I have this same problem as above. It has happened when showing clients their portraits. Very embarrasing to the point that I am looking for another way to show a slide show of images. It has happened in all previous versions of Lightroom and has not seemed to be fixed yet. I will try 2.1 and see if that helps. I have tried the rendering 1:1 fix and it still did it, although not as often. This "fix" takes forever too do as well. It has usually happened after I have swithched the orders of the slideshow images. This seems to be what triggers it. Hopefully it gets fixed. Any other solutions?

  • Partial Slideshow Failure

I am using iPhoto 4.0.3. I recently upgrade in iTunes 6.0.1 and Quicktime 7.0.3. I now find that slideshow works with some songs from iTunes and freezes using other songs. I cannot find a common denominator between which ones work and which ones fail. Has this hapened to anyone else and what have you done to fix. I already repaired my permissions and deleted and replaced the iPhoto preference file. Thanks.

    Hi:
This is the link to the support and driver page for the notebook:

Like I said, I need the hardware ID's. For example, note the list of wireless network adapters.
You need to know the hardware ID's in order to install the right driver.
Looking at the specs for the notebook, there are some drivers you need that aren't listed on the page.
For example...Chipset which you need to install first and reboot before installing any other driver.
First download is what you need.

Second is video. Install and reboot.

I do not know what audio your model has. There could be one of two audio chips installed Conexant or IDT.
Again, that is why I need the hardware ID's so I can post the drivers you need.

How you want to make a folder for these drivers and run them is up to you.
But we can get this done for your friend.

Since I posted last, I came across the following link over at the Encore Forum. There the user could not update the burner firmware and found that the disc brand made the difference between failure and success. Imation and Memorex discs worked, whereas Verbatim did not.
So, I stand corrected on focusing in on the "RAM Failure" portion of your error message. But, I am looking forward to further details of your Break Apart Slideshow failure. I have come across at least one case where RAM issue impacted that even when you used the right Photoshop Elements Slideshow Editor Output option.

  • Large slideshow, Ken Burns, allow black, etc. failure.

    Hi all,
I'm trying to produce a large slideshow for a team year end celebration. It's about 1000 images and 30 minutes. I tried Aperture, but the processing time was taking forever (some posted days for a show shorter than mine). iMovie seems to be okay, but the I can't seem to figure out how to apply a generic Ken Burns, Allow Black to all the images. Ironically, Aperture looked great, but can't process, iMovie can process (I've a lot of history with traditional videos), but seemingly can't get the stills correct. . . .Any suggestions?
FWIW, I've a really old legacy system. Mac Pro 1,1. OS 10.7.5, still have iMovie and iDVD.
    Thanks for the help!

I'm pretty sure, you do not 'edit' a thousands pics, set 1.5.sec each, add a generic transition, perhaps some 'motivational' music - done.
You can export the slideshow from within iPhoto as a 'mov', for further refinement (discs, sticks, mp4, whatever....)

just did it for my son's team - 2TB of video (1 season=1y, 6 cams, 22 games, 70min each) , shrunk to an 8min celebration
tons of slowmo, grading, ... stuff
speaking of music: this years selection: 'X Ambassadors/Welcome to the Jungle' .. the kids recognize it from the 'Before The Game/Beats' commercial... done in FCPX, not iMovie, for sure.

  • Slideshow - Photoshop to Premiere Failure  - Need Help!!

Created slideshow to music and recorded audio segments with embedded videos in photo elements 8 and sent to premiere elements 8 but it doesn't come over very clean. Music overlaps, video is robotic, some pics didn't come over.  Would love to know what I'm doing wrong.

I suspect that you are attempting tasks which are beyond the capability of the Elements Organizer Slide Show editor and you would be better doing the addition of your video using Premiere Elements in a project setting (of Premiere Elements) that is chosen based on the format of video you have. (this option is specifically my opinion based on several years working with people on forums who reported similar type problems: it is not an official statement and I do not work for Adobe.)
If troubleshooting from the forum is possible, I think that it is more likely to be successful over in the forum for Premiere Elements at
    http://forums.adobe.com/community/premiere_elements
When you post there, please add more details
-- "recorded audio segments with embedded videos"
please explain-- for example do you mean ?
do you mean you added music to the slide show and also had narration for the slide show ?
-- what is the format (the codec) used for the video(s) you are using ? If you don't know the codec, then identify the camera which was the source of the video(s)
-- if you know what was the project setting for the Prem Elements project - post that info
-- what format will you choose as the output from Premiere Elements - for example, will you burn a standard definition DVD ?
-- what is the pixel resolution of the photo files that you are using ? (too high a pixel resolution can be a problem)
--  what is the Windows operating system ? (most probably you will also be asked for your PC hardware configuration during troubleshooting)
    EDIT - adding additional question
-- identify the format and the pixel dimensions of the photos that did not successfully transfer to Premiere Elements (numbers are better but statements like it was a panorama will help to start the analysis of why some failed)  Also tell whether these photos were visible when doing a preview playback within the Elements Organizeer slide show editor.

  • New Mac/APE 12 user Used to have Cyberlink Powerdirector 9 for video/slideshow editing.  HELP!

I have recently purchased APE 12 to help with editing a slideshow.  Previously I used Cyberlink Powerdirector 9 on my PC.  At this point I am very disappointed in the money I spent.  There is so much less I can do with the structure of the slideshow.  My questions are to see if I am missing something.
    1)  On PowerDirector I had several options on the type of slideshow I wanted, movement, scrapbook, photo album, 3-D and more, I only see the option for Pan and Zoom on APE 12 and even that is hard to figure out.  Am I missing something?
    2) Am I understanding that once I put a still image on the Timeline I can only change the duration one image at a time?  Is there any way to select a group of images to edit?
    3) I may have this one figured out, after searching and reading a lot, but Is there an easy way to fade out volume to make transitions smooth?  I have had success, but more failure and struggle to find out what is working.
    4) Why does APE 12 move stuff if I add something on another track?  Can I lock the video track so it won't do that?
    Thanks a bunch!!
    Janice

    Janice
Premiere Elements can help you create a slideshow with numerous effects, including pan and zoom,  but it is a video editor rather than a slideshow generator. It is not going to give you choices of slideshows. But, I guess you could look at the Instant Movie Feature as sort of a counterpart of what you were using previously.
    http://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-elements/using/instant-movies.html
If your program is on Windows, you have slideshow opportunities in the Elements Organizer as well as the Premiere Elements workspace. On Mac, there is no slideshow feature in the Elements Organizer as there is the Windows counterpart.
If you are in the Expert workspace, you can change the duration of more than one clip at a time - See Time Stretch Tool after you select (altogether) the clips whose duration is to be changed.
And, there is no lock track feature. On Windows, one holds down the Alt key of the computer main keyboard as an addition is made to the Timeline so has not to disturb the content already there.
Click the More on the Transition Adjustments pop up. Also look to the transition alignment and duration in relation to the duration of the clips involved.
Also consider that you will be running into several Windows Only features.
    Please review and consider.
    Thank you.

  • Why Won't iPhoto Export My Slideshow?

I import photos to iPhoto from my Canon Rebel. They were taken as RAW. I create a folder and name it within iPhoto. I place 50 images and order them the way I want. I then "Select All" the 50 photos in the folder just to play it safe. I click the Plus button and choose Slideshow. I go through all the steps, selecting the theme, selecting the Apple canned music (so that there won't be a copyright issue), I set my settings... Show Title, play music through slideshow, etc. I then click the Preview button. It works fine! I then tap the Play button. My slideshow fills the screen and does as I have asked it to. I then make sure that my slideshow is selected in the left column (it has not been unselected since I started this maneuver) and I click the Export button at the bottom of the window.  HERE IS WHERE, AS I SAID BEFORE, EXPORT DOES NOT WORK.... A dialog box comes up: "Export your slideshow Choose a format based on where you will view your slideshows;___Format:" (I have chosen all three choices many, many times trying to get beyond this point.)  "Automatically send slideshow to iTunes" has been selected, BTW.  I then hit the export button and the navigator dialog box opens and I choose my folder called iPhoto Slideshows. I click OK.  At this point the export progress dialog box opens and sits there... the thumbnail rectangle remains BLACK. The progress bar never changes from its standard GREY.  The only text on the export slideshow dialog box remains the same and says: "Exporting Slideshow ..."  Fearing there was a hiccup somewhere, I have left this window open and able to work OVERNIGHT, just in case. Nothing. I have tried all three formats. I have changed the destination folder. Nothing.
I have had this problem for months. Have asked this forum for help. I have been told nothing is wrong with iPhoto.
So here's my new question: "What am I suppose to do about this problem that I have explained above?"
I would say my copy of iPhoto is corrupt, if there is nothing wrong with iPhoto in general. Is this a possibility?  In which case.... How do I get another iPhoto app without having to pay for it?
Or do you have some other reason this process is not working on my Mac Pro with OS X  10.9.5 (13F34)?
This is the fifth time I have had to export all my photos to my laptop and use Snow Leopard with iPhoto 9.2.3 in order to finish my projects.
Please help with these EXPORT FAILURE questions.
    Thank you, very much.

    To re-install iPhoto
    1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
    2. Download it from the App Store to reinstall It's on your Purchases List* there.
For older versions that have been installed from Disk you'll need these additional steps:
2a: On 10.5:  Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows:  In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
    /var/db/receipts/
    2c: on 10.7 or later they're at
    /private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
    3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
*Sometimes iPhoto is not visible on the Purchases List. it may be hidden. See this article for details on how to unhide it.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4928
One question often asked: Will I lose my Photos if I reinstall?
iPhoto the application and the iPhoto Library are two different parts of the iPhoto programme. So, reinstalling the app should not affect the Library. BUT you should always have a back up before doing this kind of work. Always.

  • Link between iTunes and Library lost. Hard drive failure

    Hi!
I need help with the following problem. (i7 27" iMac/256GB SSD + 1TB of internal disk hard drive. (SATA/7200rpm/3.5"))
The 1TB internal hard drive on my iMac failed the S.M.A.R.T. Utilities test so Apple called in the computer and I had to have the hard drive replaced. The technicians reloaded the system from a 1TB external Western Digital hard drive; I had backed up the everything on it using Time Machine.
Unfortunately, the iTunes application cannot now locate my iTunes library. I create a lot of slideshows on Aperture and use music from iTunes on the audio tracks. The titles on the audio tracks are now inaudible and are preceded by a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark inside. Can anyone help me on how I should re-establish the original link between iTunes and its library. The music files are located in folders (name of artists), within a folder (iTunes Music), within a folder (iTunes), within a folder (Music), within a folder (declangreaney) on the 1TB of internal disk drive.
In trying to solve the problem, I went through the folders and double clicked on one song. This opened iTunes so I highlighted and dragged all the other 'artist-named' folders on the iTunes interface and in doing so, I succeeded in accessing all the files. This is not wholly satisfactory, however, as I do not have my own playlists and more seriously, there is still no link between the Aperture audio tracks.
      Sincerely,
         DG.

        Hi again!
I saved the last message by accident which caused the reply to be sent off and so I had not finished what I wanted to write. Aploogies.
I didn't find the new iMac hybrid SSD/Disk system easy to understand when it arrived over a year ago. I eventually decided that the 256 SSD section would be best suited to having the Operatin System for greater speed and I must have decided to put the music files on the 1TB internal hard drive along with photos and raw video clips. I can't honestly remember. There was a lot to take in. I wasn't even aware until this failure that iTunes had a default location.
In addition to having the iTunes folder on the internal 1TB hard drive, I used Time Machine to store the entire computer contents on a 1TB Western Digital external hard drive. I had done my last Time Machine back-up on the 13 February and so I was hoping that by opening one or two songs on the back-up, they might reactivate the 'old' interface with the original playlists on it. That didn't happen but I then realised, while I was still in the Tme Machine back-ups on the WD external hard drive, that in the iTunes Media folder contained within the iTunes folder on the default Users/Username/Music location there was only an Add automatically to iTunes folder which was empty. While still still looking through the Time Machine back-upsI saw that the music instead was stored on the 1TB of internal hard drive as outlined on the first post:
'The music files are located in folders (name of artists), within a folder (iTunes Music), within a folder (iTunes), within a folder (Music), within a folder (username) on the 1TB of internal disk drive.'
The iTunes.itl file was last modified on Monday at 21:52. Created on 17th February, 2012. Size 386KB
         Regards,
         DG.

  • Keynote slideshow glitches in iDVD

When I import a slide presentation from Keynote I want it to be manually advanced. I have all slides set to "on click." I have tried to export as an interactive QT as well as directly into iDVD. Both ways - once the show is imported and I play the show via iDVD either the first three slides get jumped through or sometimes just the first. Once it finishes this quick jumping the slideshow plays fine and advances simply on the clicks. I have switched the slides around and it doesn't matter what slides are there, it always jumps through the first or first three. When exported as an interactive slideshow the .mov plays fine as a stand alone. It is when imported into iDVD that the problem occurs.
BTW there is no audio on this -- so I don't face that issue with this presentation transfer to iDVD
    Peace,

This might be a media issue.
Suggest you create a disc image and then burn the DVD. File/Save as Disc Image...

    http://www.kenstone.net/fcphomepage/image_to_diskstone.html
This will isolate any encoding/burning issues you may encounter. Once the disc image is created, double-click the .img and burn the virtual disc that should appear on your desktop, using Toast to burn the DVD. Disk Utility to burn the .img file. Usually, you can select a burning speed in Disk Utility.
There are variations to this process based on which OS X you are using...
Open Disk Utility (in Utilities folder in Applications folder), click on the virtual disc (maybe the .img) in the left-hand window. Click the Burn icon. A new window should drop down and your SuperDrive tray will open after clicking the Burn icon. Insert a recordable DVD. (Verbatim DVD-R preferred by me.) Click the Close button. Wait. Select a burn speed. If you hold your mouse cursor over the pop-up it says: "Select a slower speed to work around burn failures," so select 4x or slower for best results. Then click the Burn button.
-->If the virtual disk selection won't allow you to click the Burn icon, use the .img file instead. This may have changed in 10.3.9 and did change in Tiger.
Also, you can use DVD Player to play the virtual disk to check your iDVD project before burning to DVD. Launch DVD Player. File/Open VIDEO_TS (Open DVD Media... in Player 4.6). Find the VIDEO_TS folder and open that. (The audio folder is for DVD-Audio disks.)

  • How do I sequence pictures in slideshow or movie

how do I sequence pictures in slideshow or movie
    1. I tried to drag in thumbnail pictures but can't get the page to move where I want to place the pic

If delivering your content from an LMS, there should be an option to play the content in a separate browser window...without toolbars.  This makes it a lot easier to predict what size you need to build your course.
After factoring in all the variables and using trial and error on a number of systems, with and without LMSs, I've found a size of 995x627 to be almost ideal.  It's big enough to display most software apps and websites, but small enough to be viewable by users on 1024x768 systems.
You have to remember that if you have a significant number of end-users on 1024x768 and that's the lowest common resolution you need to build for, then you CANNOT make your screen size 1024x768.  You have to build smaller to allow for toolbars, browser chrome, etc.
One of the first things any wise elearning developer does when they begin a project, before they start creating content, is to survey their user base and find out what constraints are imposed within which they need to work.  Things like monitor resolution, Flash-player version, LMS, bandwidth all play a part in the success or failure of your project.  Find out early rather than later.

  • Verification Failure with Fujifilm DVD+R (1X-16X)

I picked up a spindle of these (paying pretty much next to nothing, so there you are .... !) and wound up with multiple burn failures, all with the same error.
Was doing a very small and simple iDVD slideshow presentation for a memorial service and managed to turn 4 in a row into coasters. This was with two differing versions of the slideshow and the failure occurred at the same place, and in the same way, whether burning directly from iDVD or after saving the file out as a disk image and then burning from Disk Utility.
Failures took place at the verification stage, which basically never started. Error messages differed depending on how the burn was being done, but got the standard "Failed to verify ... try other media ..... codes ...." message.
Changing over to my remaining HP DVD-R 16X stock allowed me to burn without error from both approaches.
As far as I can tell, the Fuji +R media should work although, evidently, it will only work at +2X speeds (wish I'd checked these forums first for that little factoid!). Would be most happy to hear your best guesses that this represents a problem with the media and not the drive, but if it shows some drive problem that's worth figuring out also. TIA for any input or assistance.

    Klaus,
Thanks, and I agree ... I should be able to burn the DVD+R's but, unfortunately, it seems I can't.
I tried twice more today (once from Backup.app, the other a Finder-controlled Burn Folder) and had the same failures in the same places (verifying) as before. Two more coasters.
Finally, it's not a matter of choosing a lower burn rate; the scrollwheel menu is stuck at x2 with no other options available. I'd be happy to live with that if only it would work.
Oh, well. They're still useful during solar eclipses.

  • LR 1.3.1 Slideshow Playback problem - real world example of how software bugs affect your business

MacBook Pro 17" latest brand new laptop
    Apple 10.4.11
    LR latest 1.3.1
This post is about a playback bug in the slideshow module introduced in LR 1.3.1 and how it publicly affected my business reputation last night.
I shoot high end weddings here in Los Angeles. I charge my clients a lot of money and deliver a fabulous bespoke photography service with custom designed albums that come in at several grand each as well as the cost of the shoot itself.
Nearly all my work comes from referrals and part of my selling point is my personal style, which is all about a super professional approach, no excuses, get the job done, done right, and exceed all expectations for my clients. So no technical problems are allowed ever. I carry triplicate cameras, drives, laptops, lights etc. Everything is checked and double checked.
Lightroom has changed the way we do things in my business and has shaved many hours per week off our editor's work load. It has been awesome for us.
I am a big fan and think that LR will be seen in history as a critical moment when digital photography came of age. Just wanted to say this before I get into this next bit.
But Adobe - listen up...really listen up...we just updated LR to 1.3.1 from 1.3
Last night your application embarrassed and humiliated me in front of many hundreds of people.
I usually do a projected slide show during the wedding reception using camera jpgs from the earlier part of the day. These very popular with the guests and are good for our business. Last night my partner pulled a fabulous show together and with much fanfare we projected as usual onto a huge white wall with hundreds of people watching.
Just like we have been doing since LR 1.0 - we select 50 or so images, make a collection, tailor the settings so the images look fabulous when projected, go to the slide show module and hit play. It has always worked incredibly well, very clean, easy and painless. Wonderful.
But last night the show played only the first few slides before it went back to the beginning. We quickly rebooted, first turning off the projector, and redid the same step. This time it played a little further and randomly started playing back. So we took it all off line again and rebooted it all.
    SAME SH*T again.
The bride's parents (my clients in this case) came over and were very condescending to me about our "broken and unreliable equipment". We had a huge hall of guests watching this. I could have crawled under a table.
We now exported the images as JPGS (off line with no projector of course) and then ran the slide show from these using the Apple Preview application. But this took us another 20 mins.
But by now we had lost the moment, the wedding planner had moved on to other things. We lost the opportunity to be slick, professional and impress the venue, the other vendors, the 3 other bridesmaids who are looking for wedding photographers etc etc. And I had publicly messed up for my client on the most important day of his daughter's life.
This slidehow problem is a stupid and repeatable bug and Adobe you have no excuse for releasing substandard product like this to professional users like me.
You should be ashamed of yourselves.
    Will Henshall
    323.333.9833

Many thanks to those above who spent the time to reply to my post/rant...
Ironically, these particular clients are actually typical model customers for us, and we have a fabulous relationship with them. They were understanding about the software problem and they then loved our work when they saw it. So all good there in the end. The comments made were somewhat jokey and not intended as malicious. But many a true word is spoken in jest...
However, my point is that the quality, level of service my company provides in this competitive market is at a level where there can be no room for amateur like error. Especially with something as simple as getting a slide show to work. Like a swan serenely gliding down a river, covering a big budget event has to look effortless from above even though underneath that swan is paddling like hell!!!!
Lightroom is all about workflow, that's what it is amazing at and the simplicity of pulling the camera jpgs out from the Canon 1dn bodies 2nd card and importing them into this single application, running our custom presets on them and then simply hitting the slideshow button has been a joy to behold. No need to export, no need for another application, just really simple and quick. Adobe really got the principle of this right.
As a photographer, I truly don't want me or my partners to be hunched over a laptop fiddling with imperfect software at a job when what will further my career and feed my family is me going back out to the event, shooting more killer images and networking networking networking for future gigs. Client relations, thats the name of the game here.
So here's the rest of my rant/point:
If you think about professional software like any other kind of professional product made by the leading public company in its market - compare it to say my Ford truck. I bought my truck new, it is reliable and every time I start it to go to work, it gets me there. It has never broken down in 100,000 miles. Even when I take it in for a service, the parking brake still works in exactly the same way that it did before I took it in - ie as advertised. I do not need to test whether my truck works ok when it comes back from a service, and this is a reasonable assumption I think. I can park it on a hill with no worries.
So what is different with software? Why are we, the end users expected to put up with below standard shoddy tools, especially when provided by huge multi-million dollar companies like Adobe?
When the software is "serviced" ie updated, my expectation is that it will be made BETTER, or at least the key user features should still work as advertised. The first thing I *don't* think is, uh-huh, this a new release, hope the parking brake still works. I am making a living as a photographer, not a software tester.
There is a culture of software users expecting that there will be bugs. And this is not acceptable to me. Not at all. Software is just a product that does specific things just like any other my truck, my cameras, my lights etc.
I am sick sick sick of using professional grade software that some production manager has signed off on, knowing or not caring that there are significant bugs that will hit a key number of users.
And yes perhaps I should mention I also have a previous career in software development and yes I truly understand what is involved in releasing innovative products like this.
Don said above It is an iron law of software development--especially with innovative new applications in their early development. Lightroom fits that pattern to a tee. Buyer beware!
This absolutely is not an iron law. If you have ever used most Avid or Digidesign products you will know that as long as the machine specific conditions have been adhered to, then the product will indeed work as advertised. Its about quality control and someone in the developing company driving the development production with integrity and care.
Rock solid software development is generally about cost to trim the budget you can either cut time to market or trim the feature set or allow a higher acceptable failure rate (ie how many bugs are in the code) and Lightroom is one of the most important apps to appear since Photoshop itself.
Someone somewhere at Adobe needs a kick in the pants to get the quality of this up to where it needs to be. Get more testers on it, fire the qa manger, do whatever you have to do, but remember your radical and awesome application is now right on the bottom line mission critical workflow for many of us. And that is how you are positioning it when you sold it to us in the first place.
As I hope you can tell when reading this, I am indeed a fan of LR. A big one. I have converted dozens of my colleagues to use LR. It rocks for most things, even with its weird flawed odd orange color cast for some skin tones under some lighting conditions. It does stuff that no other app does.
I was just very very disappointed with this slide show bug.
Please Adobe LR folk, focus on this and get it fixed asap, and then keep an eye on the quality of your future releases. The use case for the slide show messing up on my particular machine running a super low number of images from small size jpgs on a recent Mac OS must have been very much on the left of your Gant chart...

  • Slideshow troubles using PE6

I seem to have terrible experience with slide shows using Elements (4 and 6). I have two questions:
    1. I shoot a lot in RAW format - is it necessary to convert to a different file format before loading images into the slideshow creator? I works with RAW format, but the program crashes a lot, (brand new laptop with 3gb and VISTA).
    2. Is 130 images deemed a large slide show for Elements? Should I cut back on size?
Also, if I need to convert slides to another file format other than RAW, can someone give me a relatively painless way to do that?
    Thanks a bunch.

My understanding of RAW format is that it is intended to be processed, so personally I would never expect the PSE slide show editor to use RAW format photos.
Since I am not using RAW format, I can't answer the question about how to easliy convert. If no one else answers in this thread you might post that question separately in a new thread.
130 is not impossibly large. However if they were 130 RAW format I would guess that you could have capacity problems.
I am not running Vista so I can't give you specific tips for cleaning up the equivalent in Vista of XP Temp files. However you might need to do that as well as general disk cleanup and defragmenting of your hard drive even for a relatively new laptop. Because you have had previous failures, it is very possible that you have many files still occupying space on your hard drive.

  • Error when exporting slideshow

First, the hardware: Intel iMac, 1.83GHz, 1G RAM, 130G HD (53G free).
Now, the problem: When I try to export a simple 4-picture slideshow (iPhoto 6.04) to Quicktime (7.1 Pro), the export progresses fine; when it's about to finish, the message "Your startup disk is almost full" appears (only on the first run of iPhoto), then the export fails with "An error occurred while exporting the slideshow". There is 53G of free space on the hard drive, so that's not the problem at all. Console shows the following error:
2006-08-08 11:46:17.930 iPhoto[563] Slideshow movie export failed with error code -47.
    slideshow max texture size 1536
I tried large and small size Quicktime export. These were images taken with a 2 megapixel camera (< 1M in size). I fixed permissions, and ran Onyx to clean caches, run cron tasks, etc., to no avail. I downloaded and installed the iPhoto 6.04 update - still no joy. I also created a new account (with admin privelages), and encountered the same error, so it's not an account level issue.
Aside from reformating the drive and starting over, does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.<br>

    Jeffrery:
Try reinstalling the 10.4.7 COMBO updater. It's been reported to be able to fix a variety of issues (SeeMac OS X 10.4.7 Special Report follow-up: Another issue (application launch failure) solved by the combo updater). Although not your problem it points out that the combo can fix a variety of issues. Just might do the trick. Be sure to follow that with a repair of disk permissions.
