Slideshow for Plasma Display

I'm throwing some pictures together to be shown on a plasma display and was wondering what the best crop and display settings would be to look best on it.
The display is a 480p 16X9 Panasonic. The technical page shows that its resolution is 852X480.
Does this mean that if I crop the shots to 16X9 and set the laptop external display to 852x480, it will look the best?
Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

You will need to use MovieClipLoader and when the
onLoadComplete or
onLoadInit events occur, you can change the dimensions of the
target_mc
argument. You can use _xscale and _yscale for example and any

No 16:9 for external displays

I'm trying to use a 16:9 Plasma display with my G4 PB but the Mac's Display System Prefs do not offer me a 16:9 format option, such as 1280x720. So the aspect ratio is not correct. Am I doing something stupid? I can't believe Mac don't support 16:9 as it's virtually impossible to buy a hybrid display in the UK that isn't 16:9.
P.S. I have also tried it on my G5 but that doesn't offer 16:9 formats either. Has the 16:9 revolution passed unnoticed at Apple HQ?

Check the specs/instructions for the plasma display. Many of them do proprietary internal scaling/stretching voodoo and appear to a computer as a 4:3 aspect display.
Once you've verified any quirks in the plasma display you're working with, you might find either Display Config X or SwitchResX useful.

Can Powerbook connect to Sony LCD flat panel properly for simul. display?

I want to buy the Sony KDL-52XBR2 LCD flat panel and connect my Powerbook G4 using an HDMI or HD-15 Pin cable for simultaneous display.
While the TV specs say it will allow a PC to connect and display, I have had trouble in the past with Mac/tv connectivity because of video driver issues in either the Powerbook or the tv. I could not get both screens to display simultaneously (without parts being cut off at the bottom or sides). Apple would not support my question as the "connected device" (the tv) was not an apple product.
Before I spend the money on a new TV, I would like to know if anyone has had success with "plug-and-play" connectivity to a 42" or 50" plasma or LCD flat panel, in particular a Sony product.

Newbie ? – QT slideshow for a consumer TV monitor?

Hi.
Tried a search but I'm unsure of terminology, also tried QT FAQ... I usually do design for web and print, but am bidding on a project that includes a single slideshow display on the client premises.
Small scale, microscopic budget... passive (not interactive) 40-page slideshow to play back on an inexpensive consumer 46" flatscreen LCD TV via a similarly-inexpensive consumer DVD player.
Is QuickTime an appropriate app to get that done?... mostly concerned with conflicts going to consumer-grade TV and/or screen size... images must be clear, and play dissolves smoothly.
I tinkered with iDVD briefly, but didn't like what I saw... but again, I don't do video.
Any thoughts?
Any alternative-approach suggestions are very welcome, if they play to the small-scale-microscopic-budget parameter.

what were your settings for export? "QT file" => that is many dozends of options of compression, codecs, resolutions, etc. pp ...
the consumer apps FCE and iM are meant for TV display only => reduced res + reduced colors, quality reduced due to interlace (due to TV standards) ...-
a Full Res, h264 encoded qt.mov should display your photos in shining quality ...

IDVD slideshow for HDTV 1080p

Using iLife '06. What resolution should photos be for best display on 1080p 45"HDTV ? What about pixel aspect ratio? How should I set? Also, any tips on avoiding black bars on top and bottom. Is this a TV settings problem? I previewed slideshow on 50" TV - showed fine. Went to client's 45" Samsung and had black bars and grainy photos. Original photos sent to me were 72 dpi. Client wants crisp, clear photo display. Help.

to get the best display now does the individual picture resolution matter? I've always been told that 72 dpi is OK for screen display but 300 is standard for printing
dpi only comes into play when you are scanning (an 8x10 print scanned at 300 dpi produces a 2400x3000 pixel image) or in printing (a 2400x3000 pixel image printed on a printer with a resolution of 300 dpi produces a 8x10 print). Video doesn't deal with resolution in dpi- it just cares what the toatal pixel count is. A 720x540 pixel image at 72 dpi and a 720x540 pixel image at 300 dpi are treated exactly the same.
How does this effect displaying on these HD TV's?
Conventional TV sets and our current DVDs are low resolution devices by today's digital image standards. A DVD (NTSC) has less than 640x480 pixels. When you display such video information full screen on a display device designed to need MANY more pixels for a good full screen image, the results are less than optimum.

I need these photos, to complete the video, not to mention I don't want to lose them. I have had trouble ever since upgrading to Maverick.

Try the following:
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down to open the First Aid window.
2 - Run Option #4, Rebuild Database.

My Apple TV is having problems with slideshows for photos synced from iTunes. How can I make it play thew whole slideshow without starting the loop again half way through?

My Apple TV randomly returns to the beginning in the middle of the slideshow for no reason. I don't habve the photos on shuffle
I started the slide show many times and somtimes it got through 20 photos, other times 50. Then all of a sudden, it goes back to the beginning and starts again. It's so frustrating as there is no reason for this and it doesn't loop back to the start on the same photo each time. I have about 350 photos in the album and they all loaded fine as thumbnails before I played the slideshow.
Can anyone help please?

Have solved my own problem. My PC sits on the floor so I have a four-port USB hub on my desktop with one port in use. I use one of the other three ports for USB-related task. As I was shutting down for the night I had a - what turned out to be inspired - thought about whether there was an adequate power supply from the hub. I then tried the iPod USB connection directly into the front of my machine and everything worked. It seems that an inadequate power supply was the cause of this strange set of conditions.

Photoshop Resolution for Retina Display

I am a iPhone/iPad UI designer. I have a question that I wanted to solve for a long time. I have created a graphics for native apps,i.e. 300x180 px with 72 ppi resolutions. Also created the same graphics 300x180 px dimension with 326ppi. For retina display will the both images be treated same? Is there will be any blurryness when zoom?
I mean to say when I suppose to send the assets of the apps to developers 326ppi resulution is necessary? or 72ppi will create same effects with the same pixel dimension?

Registering for Caller Display. Do I need to?

Quick history:
Mod on this forum arranges new deal for me for combined Infinity/Call package.
I agree to new deal on condition that I get everything on my account as it was.
New contract starts (Broadband/Calls/Line Rental) on 10th of September 2013.
My Call Package includes BT Privacy, etc. at no extra cost. See pic below...
A few days later news breaks that BT intend to start charging for the same calling features.
I write to the Mod asking if I will have to start paying the fee for these services. He doesn't reply. Eventually I get a reply (obviously automated) telling me the info is on the website, and links to same.
I write back asking for a proper reply to my question; this time I get a reply from 'Yunus', but it doesn't answer the question, (he only confirms that line rental will go up 6.4%), so I try other means.
I use the price increase checker linked to on the other thread here; it tells me the Infinity/Calls Package will go up, but there is no mention of any changes to my Calling Features prices.
I try Live Chat; holy sh!t, these people are useless! Are they paid to just tell you want to hear?
First guy tells me 'no increase' in any of my prices';
second guy says line rental going up, Infinity going up, but caller features package will not go up as they were included free in the package I signed up for with the Mod here
third, it's a girl; she says everything will go up, and if I choose to leave I need to pay a full year's charges for cancelling.
Plainly, they are not all correct.
All I want to know is, what is going up? When? Do I have to sign up/pre-register for this free year's Caller Display thing? Won't that mean my contracts for BB/Calls, and Line Rental will have different end dates?
I have read the big long thread about the rises, so do not require a repeat of the answers given there as most of them contradict each other anyway, just like Live Chat.
It would be helpful to get a reply from a Mod (preferably the one who signed me up to this new contract in the first place) and not from any of the BT 'groupies'.

How do you fix a problem where document pages open that are too big for the display and runs off the end of the monitor? The borders are off the monitor so there is no window edge to grab and adjust.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, or by a peripheral device.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain iMacs. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. Test while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

Ok, I'm a bit smarter now. If I open the new pdf with reader 7 the graphics are in normal size at 100%. If I open the same pdf in Acrobat 9 pro everything is a bit to big with the "original size" setting, so the graphics are blured, because they get streched. It is a problem of displaying, the pdf seems to be ok, cause it looks good printed and good in Reader 7. But how can I know how the result will look at the users screen and why is the same file different in two reader versions?

The requirement that you have stated is not a standard feature in ISA CRM. In order to do the same, you will need to modify the standard ISA code in Java. A common path for the solution would be as follows:
1. Colours
    a. Maintain a text type for Color under the object - PCAT_ITM in Customizing.
    b. Modify the standard search of ISA to search within your new text type as well. (In standard it only searches in Description.
   c. Maintain all shirts colour data in the new type created in step a.
   d. Your requirement will be done!
2. Price
a. Use list prices for your shop and assign the appropriate condition type, acces in your catalog.
b. Modify the standard search of ISA to search on the list prices as well.
c. This too will be done!
3. Accessories - This is very tricky, and will require some exploration. However, here's my opinion,
a. Search for the standard function module, which will return the accessories when provided the product as an input.
b. Modify this function module according to your requirement and ensure that it can be accessed remotely.
c. Modify the JSP as in steps 1b and 2b above to call this new remote-enabled function module.
d. Now you're done!!
The ISA modification part is not so simple, you need a really good guy like "Sateesh Chandra" who'll be able to handle your requirements. This is all I could manage, hope it is some help to you!
