SM58 Errors due to Work Item/Task

Hello,
we are getting a lot of sm58 error messages related to a workflow task TS00007989 (Error during outbound processing).
All the errors carry the same message "Work item 000000549001: Task TS00007989 locked for  instantiation"
What could be the root cause of this issue? Is it possible to resolve this without deactivating the standard workflow task.

Hi Mohan,
Its RFC error. Please check the workflow instance using T-code SWI2_DIAG to get details about this error. Also you can contact your BASIS Team for the same to check the connectivity of the system for which these IDOCS get triggered.
Also check the T-Code WE02 to get details about error in IDOC.

  • Error when starting work item

    Hi
    We are having SRM5.0.
Trying to create Contract. Workflow Without approval of contract(WS1400086)is activated and start conditions also no workflow activated.
Contract is created and getting message Contract created.
But when tried to release the contract it shows "Awaiting approval".
In Workflow log (SWI1)it shows error."Error when starting work item xxxx".
What could be the reason. Please let me know the solution if anyone of you come across such error.
    Thanks in advance
    Jagadish

    Masa
It is maintained as General task already.
It seems the workflow task WS14000085 does not have definition.
When checked in SWDD for the above teask there are no steps defined for that workflow.
SAP says that we need to define and action for workflow WS14000085.
But what is the procedure to define the workflow.
I presume this is the standard workflow and it should be defined by default when it comes along with the SRM package.
Anyone of you know how to define the workflow and activate the same?
    Regards

  • Error handling for work item

    Dear All,
When I trigger my workflow from SWUE,the workflow containers must be populated with agent name. But it is populated only with 'US'.Please suggest.
On the other hand, when I trigger my workflow from ME21N,the workflow goes into error. The error statement is "Exception occurred - Error handling for work item 000000954797".What is the problem?
Please suggest the solution for which I will be grateful.
    Thanks and regards,
    S.Suresh

    Dear ,
I use bus2012 as BOR and event as created.
When I create purchase order from ME21N,bus2012 is not triggering.Instead FREBUS2012 gets triggered which is a subtype of bus2012.
At SWETYPV,event linkage is activated only for BUS2012 and there is no entry at SWETYPV for FREBUS2012.
Though I configured the workflow with start events:BUS2012->created,why FREBUS2012 should trigger my workflow which is not seen in SWETYPV?How to override it?Please suggest.
There is no start conditions for my workflow.Whenever purchase order is created, this workflow should trigger.
So,the parameters passed between even to workflow are
    &_EVT_OBJECT&    ->        &BUS2012&
    &_EVT_CREATOR&   ->     & WFINITIATOR&
    Thanks and regards,

  • Terminating Event to Event Queue due to Work Item Lock

I have a dialog workflow task based on an asynchronous method defined with a terminating event.  When the user executes the work item, the method generates the terminating event (via a V2 change document) but the work item is enqueued (locked) by the same user (locked when they execute the work item from SBWP) and therefore the terminating event goes into error and is placed in the event queue.  The background job which processes the event queue does not redeliver the event so it stays in the event queue and the work item fails to complete.  Other than dequeing the work item lock myself with a function call how do I get around this catch 22?

    Hello Martin,
Actually, the locking happens whether I have the task as asynchronous or synchronous.  The problem is the timing. If the user does not release the lock (by backing out of the dialog which is executed) prior to the terminating event attempting to enqueue and complete the work item then the event goes into error and is inserted into the event queue (and lingers there indefinitely, almost). Another issue with the asynchronous approach is that even if the user backs out of the dialog before the event actually attempts to complete the work item they will still see the work item in the inbox unless they click the refresh button when they get back to the inbox.
I have changed the task to synchronous but here is my scenario and another question.
The process being workflowed is the approval of service entrysheets (similar to an invoice if you are not familiar with External Services).  In our process, there are a large number of documents being created and requiring approval by particular approvers.  It is a normal scenario for an approver to have, lets say 25 documents in his inbox awaiting approval. It was not practical for him to have to navigate back and forth between his inbox and the approval task screen.  Therefore, I give the users the option of (when executing a work item) having all the documents in his in-box (for this particular task) be presented in an approval list screen.  They can then do a mass approval of the 25 documents with 1 click and 1 navigation.  This list screen is also available to be executed outside workflow via a tcode.  So, when the user executes the mass approval (either from the inbox or outside workflow) the work items are terminated via the terminating event assigned to the approval task.
    A couple of issues remaining:
    1) Given my example of 25 work items (user executes 1 work item from in-box
and I displayed all 25) being approved, when the user returns to the in-box, the 24
items remain in his inbox until he clicks the refresh button since these were not actually "executed" from the workflow engines point of view.  However, these were terminated successfully because they were not "locked".
<b>Question:</b> Is there a way (user exit?) to trigger the inbox refresh automatically.
    2) Now, the issue with the actual work item which the user executes from the inbox.  As I mentioned, the work item is locked as soon as the user executes it and is not released until they back out of the dialog or logoff.  So, here is what happens:  If the terminating event is sent before the lock is released the event is sent to the event queue.  If they then back out back to the in-box, its OK since I put some code in the SWO1 object type program (rememeber, its now synchronous) which will determine if they did the approval/rejection and the work item will complete and the event in the event queue will be deleted the next time the Event Queue Background job runs (it deletes any events for work items already in COMPLETED status). However, lets say they simply log off rather than backing up to the in-box or they don't do anything and are eventually logged off by timeout. In this case the code in the object type program to determine if the approval/rejection was done does not get executed (control does not return to the object type program) and the work item remains in "STARTED" status and remains in the users inbox and the event is in the event queue. So, now we have a work item that should be completed still sitting in the users in-box and the terminating event in the event queue. So the next time the user goes to their inbox the work item is still there.  The interesting thing is that though this may be confusing to the user, if they then attempt to execute the work item, they will get a message: "Work item currently being completed by event" (Message SWF_RUN 644) and the event sitting in the event queue gets redelivered and completes the work item.  To alleviate this problem I was thinking of adding a call to SAP_WAPI_WORKITEM_COMPLETE in the approval list screen after they do the approval but I'm guessing it wont work since it probably will try to enqueue the work item and it will still be locked.
Hopefully you haven't nodded off reading this rambling note...
    Thank you,
    Bob

  • HCM Forms&Process :Authorization error while opening work item in the UWL

    Hi,
The process has been started successfully and the work item was appeared in the  UWL of MSS.
But when I try to open the work item  , I got the following errors:
"User XXXX doesnot have authorization on pernr 8000123"
"You are not authorized to process this process"
When I checked, the User XXXX has the required roles for authorization such as SAP_ASR_MANAGER and SAP_ASR_EMPLOYEE and the authorization object P_ASRCONT has been assigned to it as well.
Still why these errors are coming?
    Does anybody know about it?
    Thanks & regards,
    Lek

    Hi,
I have had exactly the same error. Make sure you have read the help.sap.com documentation carefully:
http://help.sap.com/erp2005_ehp_04/helpdata/EN/43/3d8f8118391bcbe10000000a1553f7/frameset.htm. The minimum requirement is access to one infotype (it does not matter whether there is data in the infotype and it does not matter which infotype you choose) via CHECK_MIN_PERNR_AUTHORIZATION of BAdI HRPAD00AUTH_CHECK. More specifically, we solved it be providing access to infotype 0002 to all employees.
Furthermore, check what level of authorizations you have set in the config for the activities.
IMG->Personnel Management->HR Administrative Services->Authorizations->Define Authorization Method for Activities (All Processes) or Define Authorization Methods for Activities (for Each Process Group).
This should help you solve your problem.

  • Invalid URL error when displaying Work Item Attached URL Object in UWL

    Hi,
After upgraded from EP6 to EP7 the user can no longer display the attached URL object of work items in the UWL Inbox.  It works fine in the SAPGUI Inbox so the URL should be okay.  We found below error messages in UWL log file:

Looks like the error is related to the back slashes in the URL but it was working fine in EP6.  We are going to change the back slashes to forward slashes to see it will work.  We would like to know if any SDNer’s can provide some more detail on why this is happening and if there is other solution.  Any hint will be very appreciated.

Use link attachment or add button action to UWL as possible workaround. It appears that work item text can only be displayed as-is.

  • Portal Runtime Error on clicking work item in UWL.

    Hi
I can see the workitems displayed in the UWL. But when I click on any of the items it shows a Portal Runtime Error
with an Exception Id like this  : 02:48_13/04/10_0030_6207450.
Can anyone help me out with this ? Does this error have anything to do with the ITS ?
Also, how can I view the log file ?

    Thanks Koti.
I have got the log file although the version of the portal that I use is probably different from yours. ( It didnt have 'System management'.)
Well, the log file says something like this :
" Exception in SAP Application Integrator occured: Unable to parse template "
I still suppose this has something to do with the ITS , because when i test service for its I get an error message like :
"Template interpretation failed. Template does not exist"
But when I test service for the webgui it opens up without any problems.
    Any more suggestions ?

  • Error while approving work item

    Hi All,
I am getting error while approving a claim request; error is:
error while inserting claim record xxxxxxx in cluster for employee xxxxxxxx
This does not happen always, some time I am able to approve and sometime i got the error.
I am using same set of user ids and same perspnal nos; does this thing matters and causing this issue or this should not cause this problem.
    Please advice!
    Thanks and Regards,
    Honey

    Hi Honey,
Could you please check note number: 1374072 which is for the PY-IN-PS.  I don't think that this warning message that you are seeing is applicable to the UWL or generated from the UWL component.  Error messages like this are usually generated from the ABAP system and more specifically from the application area.  Another hint would be to check ST22 to see if there is a short dump occuring in the backend system.
According to the note, this error will be thrown when:
"Error on Approver Screen stating "Error while inserting claim
record <Reference Number> in cluster for employee <Employee
Number>". This happens only when the approver tries approving the
request almost immediately after the employee has submitted the
    request."
I hope that this information is helpful to you.

  • AL BPM work items and tasks

    Hi,
I am a newbie with AL BPM, and am trying to use it for a project. We are trying to manage breaks for incoming events. An event could have multiple breaks associated with it and would be assigned to a user to resolve.
One of the key requirements is that the user would see only a single work item per event in the Inbox, but would see the break tasks in the detailed screen associated with it.
Can I use the AL BPM work item/ task mechanism to do this? Is it possible to display work items alone in the inbox, if it has multiple tasks associated with it?
    Thanks in advance,
    AB

    Hi,
If you'd like each individual person to execute the tasks, you might want to have a Split-N activity (now called "Multiple" in 10g) to create a work item instance for each person and assign it to that specific person using "participant.next" logic (inside the logic for the Split-N, you'd need to assign the specific participant using "next participant" logic to the specific work item instance).
Following the Split-N, you could do the multiple task thing several different ways.
    1. Using a screenflow, you could have them accomplish the tasks in one sitting in the various screens that would be associated with the screenflow's flow of tasks. If you go this route, you might want to add "Save" button functionality so they could save their work and return to the screen where the left off when they come back.
    2. If the tasks are done in a specific sequence, you could have a series of Interactive activties following the Split-N with different screenflows. If you go this route, be sure to make the predefined variable participant property called "sticky" set to true so the instance stays stuck to the same participant.
    3. If the tasks could be done in any order, you could have a Split following the Split-N with each of the branches in the Split going to a different task. You'd want to make sure you've assigned the original participant as the next participant for each of the branches going to Interactive activities coming out of the Split activity.
    Hope this helps,
    Dan

    Hi Suresh,
Thanks alot, problem solved to some extent. I need some other clarifications.
    1. whether SAP_ALL and SAP_NEW  profiles are mandatory for the user WF-BATCH or only SAP_ALL can solve our issue?
    2.
Unless your workflows are not going to use Webflow functions, configuring "Maintain Web Server" is not required
as you said, what are webflow functions?
Please provide me information on these as Iam new to Workflows.
    Thanks & regards,

  • Executing Batch work Item: Transaction brackets of the workflow has been da

    Hi,
I am integrating workflow with the HR Processes and Forms using HCM.
The process is new hiring and in configuration I have given the workflow name which is copy of the standard workflow(WS18900008). The event used is draft_created.
When I execute the process and press the Save Draft, everything goes fine, the workflow gets completed but for the step Save Form Data(WS17900260) throws the following error:
Executing Batch work Item: Transaction brackets of the workflow has been damaged.
    The task is TS17900108.
Not able to understand what is this error and to which it is related.
    Pls help.

Look for SAP Notes as this is SAP standard code.
    Short Text
Transaction brackets of the workflow has been damaged
    Diagnosis
When executing the workflow with the ID , the transaction brackets were destroyed by a commit command ('C') or a rollback work command ('R'). This command ('') was stopped from the implementation program of the object type. Access takes place, for example, when a condition is evaluated or when the container operation is executed. Access may only have a read character which is why a commit or rollback work command is not necessary.
    System Response
The system has written a log entry. Uncontrolled commit or rollback work commands can affect the restart function of the workflow system. This restart function is only necessary in the case of errors. The current workflow instance is executed further.
    Procedure
Check the implementation program of the object types and remove the corresponding ABAP instructions.
