SMTP requests cause the directory server to allocate all processor resource
Using JES 2005Q1.
The problem started when adding mass number of users. When running the commadmin for a long time, the system will hang. We tuned the directory server by increasing the database, initialization and entry cache. I changed many other parameters to tune parameters. It was worthless.
I shifted to ldif and used ldapmodify to create those users.
The users were created successfully. But when the smtp traffic was directed to the server, the nslapd process will allocate 95% of the CPU in 5 minutes.
The problem is in the way the directory server is searched when it accepts an smtp request.
Knowing that the server is currently used only for Messaging Server, any suggestions on how to improve the performance of the directory?
Thanks in advance.
The "lookthroughlimit" is set to -1.
I sent from a local user on the server to the same user and the log was this :

Thread are gettin stuck causing the WebLogic server to hang
We are developing an application for an US client which inclueds the following technology.
- WebLogic 9.2 JMS (Foreign Server, Queue, Connection Factor, persistent Store)
- Oracle 10g & Oracle 9i
- J2EE (MDB)
Different application uses different databases.
After the server run for a few day it is getting a stuck thread and reported the same as a Hogging Thread in server -> monitoring -> thread. At this point the server hangs and stopped working with the status in 'warning' state (in the same page itself).
The problem remains until the managed server is restarted.
We have taken thread dump of different times and one of the error that we have got is attached below:

Can you let me know how to proceed and what can be done to avoid this issue?
Thanks a bunch Tom.

Messenger Express: How do I add the Directory Server to the address book search tool?
In Messenger Express (ME) how do I add the Directory Server (DS) to the address book
search tool?
<P>
Edit the globals.pl file. Look for a line similar to: <BR>
@dirservers = ('MyCompany::phonebook.foo.com::o=FooCorp.,c=US','Four11 Directory::ldap.four11.com::');
<P>
Add an entry to the list. The list is comma delimited and each entry is a
string. The string contains three fields, delimited by a double colon (::). The
first field is the name you want to appear in the User Interface (UI). The second is
the hostname of the DS and the third is the Distinguished Name (DN) to use when searching.
<P>
Please note, Messenger Express is part of the Messaging Server. For more
information on Messenger Express, please see the release notes at
http://home.netscape.com/eng/server/MExpress/relnotes.htmYou can't add a new contact to specific group and there is no app for this. 3rd party apps don't have access to private iPhone APIs with security concerns being a primary reason, which such a function would require.

When I connect to the SharePoint site that contains the lists I need to build my query from , Power Query enumerates the list and displays them in the tool. I can click on the system tables and view the records but any table
in the list I created returns this error.
I can connect fine with InfoPath
[DataSource.Error] SharePoint: Request failed: The remote server returned an error: (500) Internal Server Error. (An error occurred while processing this request.)
thank you for your help
Andrew
Hi Andrew. In order for us diagnose this issue, you'll need to capture some network traces using a tool such as Fiddler and share them by sending a Frown.
To capture a trace using Fiddler, start Fiddler, enable the Tools > Fiddler Options > HTTPS > Decrypt HTTPS traffic option, start the capture, reproduce your issue, then stop and save the capture. You can find more information here.
Once you've done that, please send a Frown through the Power Query ribbon and attach the traces.
Thanks,

Can an email address be a member of an LDAP group even if it isn't
associated with an object in the Directory Server?
<P>
General members of a group are the members defined in the
Directory Server. They are full-fledged members of the group who
may have a set of permissions associated with their membership,
a title, or other attributes. Mail-specific users are users who
are not full-fledged members of the group, but who receive mail
sent to the group. Mail-specific users need not be identified as
a user in the Directory Server--an email address is sufficient.
An example of this is a group of salespeople, all of whom are in
the group "North American Sales Team." They have access to a
sales-tracking database, on-line quota information, and
competitive information. The mail-specific users of this group
are the admins who support the members of the sales team, who need
to get the mail that goes out to the group, but don't need access
to the applications and information that the salespeople do.Hey EllyK,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
Thanks for the question.
I would suggest performing this workaround and then try to login to BlackBerry Link:
Open BlackBerry World on the BlackBerry smartphone and sign in using the BlackBerry ID.
Connect the BlackBerry 10 smartphone to the computer.
Open BlackBerry Link
Sign in using the BlackBerry ID.
Let me know if the issue still persists.
Cheers.

Unable to create the Directory Server entry on the LDAP Console
When I try to create the connection with the Directory Server I get the following message:
Could not contact the DSCC agent on <server>. Use the command cacaoadm to check that the DSCC agent is installed and running on port 11162.
I found a bug related to this issue and installed the patch 123893-15. I restarted the cacaoadm and the console:
root@mntsammx # cacaoadm list-params

And as you can see it is running on that port. What else needs to be done ?
Thanks!Well... this ALMOST worked. I got closer. I found out there are three cacaoadm deamons on the machine, so, I started the correct one at this time:
[server1]/opt/myuser> ps -ef | grep cacao
root 17773 1 0 Jun 12 ? 0:02 /usr/lib/cacao/lib/tools/launch -w /var/cacao/instances/default -L 16384 -P /va
myusermx 22756 20845 0 10:06:14 pts/4 0:00 grep cacao
So, I stopped the old one:
root@server1 # cd /usr/sbin
root@server1 # ./cacaoadm stop
root@server1 # ps -ef |grep cacao
root 23393 23045 0 10:16:20 pts/4 0:00 grep cacao
root@server1 #
Then I changed to the location of the correct one
cd /opt/myuser/sunoneldap/dsee6/cacao_2/usr/sbin/
[server1]/opt/myuser/sunoneldap/dsee6/cacao_2/usr/sbin> ./cacaoadm set-param network-bind-address=<my_ip>
[server1]/opt/myuser/sunoneldap/dsee6/cacao_2/usr/sbin> ./cacaoadm start
[server1]/opt/myuser/sunoneldap/dsee6/cacao_2/usr/sbin> ./cacaoadm status
default instance is DISABLED at system startup.
Current retries count : 0/4
Processes:

Uptime: 0 day(s), 0:0

myusermx 23918 20845 0 10:18:22 pts/4 0:00 grep cacao
So, I went back to the console, at this time it let me thru the step to accept the certificate, I did click next and an exception was threw. I copied it, but I lost it. After that, I wasn't able to get to the same point again, I am back to the old message that it can't contact the cacaoadm....

Excess time taken to schedule requests to the report server
I have a file which contains 10000 requests to be send to the report server. The total time taken by the report client to send the request to the report server is somewhere around 4 - 5 hours. Why does report client take so much time to schedule the request to the report server ????? How can i get around this problem, since the report execution doesn't start till the last request has been send since i am using schedule=<some_delay> and not schedule=NOW.

Seems to be a problem with your GUI as the dump MESSAGE_TYPE_X is generally related to GUI. Use some higher version of GUI than the existing one.
Also Updates are not active in your system. Use transaction SM13 to check whether updates are active or not. If not then use transaction SM14 to turn on the updates.

Disabling port 389 for version 4.x/5.x of the Directory server?
Is it possible to close port 389 for version 4.x/5.x of the Directory server?
We need to ony enable 636 for SSL communications. WE currently limit 389 access to the CMS (which oddly enough requires it - ARRGGGG!) by IP Address. We're currently running NT 4 and have turned off 389 and found that there is a need to have 389 open for some initial operations (ignoring the CMS requirement for testing). We have not fully tested this under Solaris ... but anticipate the same to be true.
RichiPlanet Directory Server 5 can run without the 389 port enabled... You need to set the LDAP port to 0.
However, this will prevent the Console and the Admin Server from working correctly. It is OK if you do all the administration of your server using command line utilities.

Ludovic. -
Can I get the Directory Server Console seperately?
I am in the process of re-doing our J2EE applications security using J2EE declaritive security as suppored by iAS6sp3.
Would like to have a copy of the Netscape Directory Server's "Console" program on my workstation(s). Is there a downloadable JAR/ZIP? Or something I can scrape off of my iAS installation? (Hmm would this console also work against other LDAPs (OpenLDAP)?)
Workstaion environmet(s): RH Linux 7.0; Sun JDK 1.3.1.02; WinNT 4WSsp6a Sun JDK 1.3.1.xx
TIAHello Fred,
The 4.2 Console is available as a stand alone download.
http://www.iplanet.com/downloads/patches/0046.html
There is a version for Linux there. I've used it on
my Red Hat 7.2 and Mandrake 8.1 boxes without a problem.
In regards to the Console working against other LDAP's.
The Netscape/iPlanet Console's utilize a specify suffix
called the "NetscapeRoot" or o=netscaperoot. This is where server specific (DS and ADMIN) information is stored among other info. This root, is what the Java Console uses to read and display , the GUI rendition
of the Servers. This is created , when the servers
are installed and is Netscape/iPlanet specific. I've
not heard of people using this Console against other
LDAP servers.
If you are needing a 5.x DS Console, then this may be
a bit trickier, As there are no Seperate Downloadable
Console for the 5.x platform, and that there isn't a
Linux version of the 5.x Directory Servers. I have heard of some people installing the 5.x DS on a seperate server and then taking the /java directory,
but this is not a supported method.
Some later versions of Directory Server may become
available for the Linux platform, when that
happens, you would be able to take the Directory Server installer and perform a custom install of just the
Console part on your remote work station. -
How can I populate the users in the Directory Server?
Hi all,
I'm a new of Sun ONE Directory Server 5.2, I've just install a copy of it on Win2000 server and I have a small question to ask.
How can I populate the users (This user can be use to login in to Sun ONE install messenger) in the Directory Server using the Directory server's admin console?
Thanks in advance,
Tuan Anh,Thanks Ramnath,
I've read your suggest, but actually, I really wanted to know how to populate user and password. I've read some thing below in Sun ONE Directory 5.2 Getting Started Guide.pdf
 o=userRoot
During installation, a user database is created by default. The default name of
the user database is o=userRoot. You can choose to populate this database at
installation, or to populate it later.
But I dont know the related document, I have create successful user and pass by using admin console. But can not user this user to login in to Instant messenger.
I'm looking forward to receive your help

When i restart the weblogic server 9.2,all messages in Topic get cleared
Hi,
When i restart the weblogic server 9.2,all messages in Topic get cleared for inactive dudrable subscribers.
Please advise what the issue here.
Thanks.Hi Tom, Thanks you so much for spending your time on this issue.
A)I didn't specify any persistent mode.so i believe default mode is "Persistent"
B) when i click on durable subscribers link on the corrersponding Topic it is showing 2 users.
actually these durable subscribers are created by executing below code after look up the Topic.
TopicSubscriber tsub = ts.createDurableSubscriber(topic,"mysub");
C) Delivery Mode Override is set to "No-Delivery".
but Time-to-Live Override is set to 21600000 .
i assume Time-to-Live is causing problem.
Please advise.
Thanks.

How can i open the directory/folder and read all the files inside it in order and then close it? any example would be nice.
thanksIn the File I/O>>Advanced File Functions Palette is a function named "List directory". This function will give you two arrays. One contains the names of all subdirectories the other the names of all files. If you want to sort them by name use the array sort function. If you want to sort them by another attribute use the File/Directory Info function to get more data. Use a cluster which contains the attribut to sort and the original index of the name. Then sort this array.
