Customer is using OMS 10.2.0.5 on linux server.
They have created an user defined metric on DB cluster instance with alert message written in hebrew.
The OMS console showed the alert in hebrew as expected.
However when they send this alert with snmp trap notification to a second system (HP openview for windows) then the message appeared not cleared (with question marks). This second system get messages in hebrew from other systems without any problems.
+Does setting LANG variable at OMS level will impact this

• Internationalization for Hebrew language

hi,
I made an application, internationalized to be used with some different languages.
Til now I internationalized it only for languages that have Latin letters (ISO/IEC 10646-1)
and in this way it is working fine...
Recently I had a request to put it in Hebrew language, that doesn't use Latin characters.
Reading the documentation, I implemented the localization for the Hebrew language in the
follow way:
Someone wrote the words in Hebrew characters inside a property file (file_iw_IL.properties) ,
afterwards I transformed the Hebrew characters in the UTF-16 mode "\uxxxx", using the
native2ascii tool that come with jdk ....
But when the application for the Hebrew language run, it didn't work...
I should like to know if the procedure that I did for Hebrew
internationalization is right and, if is not, I would like to know what is the right precedure
to make internationalization for languages that don't have Latin characters.
thank you in advance for a kind help
regards

No one answer me so I try again for some help, explain better my problem.
I use this class to get strings in different languages:
public class SupplierOfInternationalizedStrings {
Locale localUsedIt;
Locale localUsedEn;
Locale localUsedHe;
Locale localizedCurrencyFormat;
Locale localUsedHere;
public SupplierOfInternationalizedStrings() { // constructor
localUsedIt = new Locale("it", "IT"); // specifica il file appartenente alla famiglia
localUsedEn = new Locale("en", "US"); // specifica il file appartenente alla famiglia
localUsedHe = new Locale("he", "HE"); // specifica il file appartenente alla famiglia
} // constructor
void setInternationalizationCountry(String langToUse) {
if (langToUse.compareToIgnoreCase("Italiano") == 0) {
localUsedHere = localUsedIt;
localizedCurrencyFormat = new Locale("it", "IT");
} else if (langToUse.compareToIgnoreCase("English")  == 0) {
localUsedHere = localUsedEn;
localizedCurrencyFormat = new Locale("iw", "IL");
} else if (langToUse.compareToIgnoreCase("Hebrew")== 0) {
localUsedHere = localUsedHe;
localizedCurrencyFormat = new Locale("iw", "IL");
System.out.println("linguaggio impostato = " + localUsedHere);
} // initializeInternationalization()
public String getInternationalString(String keyForTheWord) {
ResourceBundle resourceBund = ResourceBundle.getBundle("properiesFile", // il nome del file .properties... la famiglia dei files
localUsedHere);
String word = resourceBund.getString(keyForTheWord);
return word;
} // getStringForMedidentStartClass()
} // class SupplierOfInternationalizedStringsOf course I have a file.property iw_IL - Hebrew (Israel) where for each key there is a value wrote with hebrew characters
the hebrew file property look in this way:
keyForLabel1= ה עברית מילה שתימ

keyForLabel2=ספה עברית מילה שתימ The class SupplierOfInternationalizedStrings works for the translation in english and in other languages that use latins letters ..,
but when it is setted for be used with the Hebrew language ( localUsedHere = localUsedHe)
the metod getInternationalString() don't return Hebrew words.
This didn't worry me, because I read in the documentation that properies file cannot
read characters that are different from latine... and I also learned that in this case it need to convert the letters
in Unicode format...
I made this work putting the hebrew words in an .rtf file and, using native2ascii utility
with the command native2ascii -encoding UTF8 file.rtf textdoc.txt, I got the unicode format.
Now the file property for Hebrew language looks in this way:
keyForLabel1     =       Ô  âÑèÙê...
keyForLabel2 = áäÔ âÑ.....At this point I expected the translation in Hebrew comes good... but instead I still I cannot get the Hebrew words..
I should like to know why the elaboration still doesn't works
and I would have too some help in order to do the program works good.
thank you
regards

• SNMP Traps and DCNM 6.1(2)

Hello Everyone,
I have DCNM 6.1(2) installed on a Windows Server 2008 R2 to monitor and manage 4 Nexus 7018 (12VDC's).
I currently have one problem left. All snmp traps send from the Nexus Switches are all dropped and none processed, and i currently rely on the syslog messages, but would prefer the snmp traps.
I start wondering if the snmp traps are only for SAN devices?
Or If I am doing something totally wrong. Port for the traps is 2162. Discovery via snmpv3 works... Traps are sent and recieved but dropped.
Perhaps someone could shed some light into this.
Thanks
Pol

Hi,
Yes, DCNM for SAN supports forwarding of alerts using Cisco Call Home, EMC Call Home, email, and Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) traps.
DCNM LAN supprts Syslog and E-Mail.

• WLC 5508 - Set SNMP traps differently per AP

Hey All,
We have a controller with multiple remote AP's connected to it. A couple of the AP's are at branch offices connected to very low quality DSL connections (which is all that is available) and because of this those AP's cut SNMP traps constantly. For example last month one AP cut about 50 traps because the DSL connection kept cutting out...usually for only a few seconds/minutes.
I looked though and couldnt find a way to set the traps per AP...only globally. Is there a way to change the threshold per AP so for example it will only cut a trap if the AP is seen down for a 24 hour period as opposed to everytime it only goes down for a few minutes?
Thanks!

• Syslog traps vs SNMP traps

Concerning the Syslog logging and SNMP traps, what is the difference.
I have seen that syslog is more for troubleshooting, but does syslog, when set to log "debugging", offer the same level of information that SNMP traps do?
For example, can you get real time config changes via syslog as you can with SNMP?
If so, why use both?

syslog will send whatever you can see on the CLI of the device at a maximum of a debug level as you say.
for SNMP traps related to configuration changes, you can use the mibs depending on the events you want to know about.
If we take for example the config traps, they are part of
CISCO-CONFIG-MAN-MIB. That mib can send traps with the following OIDs:
ftp://ftp.cisco.com/pub/mibs/oid/CISCO-CONFIG-MAN-MIB.oid
When you will go through that you will realize that the CONFIG mib and the syslog provide you with the same information: the CONFIG mib will not have more information than the syslog message.
If you use the snmp object navigator, you will find for every OID what the function is:
http://tools.cisco.com/Support/SNMP/do/BrowseOID.do?local=en
A good paper about what traps are part of which mib:
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/tech/tk648/tk362/technologies_tech_note09186a0080094a05.shtml
SNMP traps are a good way to gather information from the router without spiking the cpu with turning on CLI debug level. The CLI debug level is usually the most complete information you can get from a router anyways.

• Full Hebrew language for iPod

Hello.
Me and my friends made Hebrew support for the iPod.
It contains FULL menus in Hebrew and support for Hebrew songs.
We made it instead of the Norwegian language, but it compatible with every iPod (of course, not Shuffle ).
We are willing to sell it to Apple, but we dont publish it for free and at all (rights viloation and stuff).
We made it by hacking to the logic drive of the iPod (34 mega bytes, "invisible").
write me what u think

bro
i mentioned it - Yeda cant do what we did, they just did songs support (songs in hebrew are visible, and invisible in the regualr firmware) and just it.
we support songs and even the menus are in hebrew
and its a copyright vilation sooooo.......i dont distribut it

• Hebrew language is written backwards in LR cc, is there a fix for that?

When typing in Hebrew language (e.g. in identity plate or text for slideshow), the text is written backward (i.e. from left to right i/o right to left), so the words are scrambled.
In PS I can control the text adjustment and direction, but I don't see such option in LR.
Is there a fix for that?

What year/model is your MBP? Using the incorrect power adapter (85W for 60W Mac or vice-a-versa) can cause problems.
You may also want to try SMC and PRAM Reset.

Do you know where can we find the files or transports to import for that?
Is anyone using bidi language (Arabic or Hebrew) on their systems for loggin onto sap version 4.5b.
If the language package cant be obtained do you know how we can switch on the RTL printing (Right Justified) printing for hebrew? At the moment it is printing hebrew but we cant seem to print it right justified.
Please reply at your earliest, lots of things are at stake.

• LMS 3.2.1 integration with Clarity NMS for snmp trap forwarding

Our client have integrated Clarity NMS to Ciscoworks LMS 3.2.1. So far they are receiving raw alarms/snmp traps but it lacks information/inventory of the originating device. Kindly see sample raw alarms below:
2420: 2011-11-25 12:10:46 Received trap ==> Received SNMPv1 Trap
Community=ciscoworks
Enterprise=1.3.6.1.6.3.1.1.5
Generip trap type=2
Specific Trap Type=0
Trap From=10.220.10.1
Trap ID=1.3.6.1.6.3.1.1.5.2

1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.3.8=18
EndTrap
As you can see, those raw alarms doesn’t contain any information about the originating equipment or the physical card, port related information where those alarms were generated. Instead those alarms received are just NMS level alarms.
How do we resolve this so that the inventory of the equipment would be part of the trap to be received by Clarity from Ciscoworks.

Hi,
Is the issue you have the source IP address of the forwarded trap? Per RFC it is the IP of the actual device sending the trap. The originating IP should be contained within the packet. I have included some additional information you may find helpful.
Q. What is the difference between SNMP Raw Trap Forwarding and SNMP Trap alert/event Trap Forwarding? Does DFM support both?
A. You can configure raw trap forwarding at DFM > Other configuration > SNMP Trap forwarding, and processed event/alert trap forwarding at DFM > Notification Services > SNMP Trap Forwarding. Processed trap is "when DFM receives certain SNMP traps, it analyzes the data found in fields (Enterprise/Generic trap identifier/Specific Trap identifier/variable−bindings) of each SNMP trap message, and changes the property value of the object property (if required)". Raw trap is the trap that the device forwards to DFM and DFM has yet to process it. For more information, refer to the DFM User Guide. Yes, DFM supports both ways of trap forwarding.
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/cscowork/ps2421/products_qanda_item09186a0080a9b35b.shtml
DFM will only forward SNMP traps from devices in the DFM inventory. It will not change the trap format—it will forward the raw trap in the format in which the trap was received from the device. However, you must enable SNMP on your devices and you must do one of the following:
Configure SNMP to send traps directly to DFM
Integrate SNMP trap receiving with an NMS or a trap daemon
The versions of SNMP traps supported by DFM are described in SNMP and ICMP Polling. For information on forwarding processed and pass-through traps, see Processed and Pass-Through Traps, and Unidentified Traps and Events.
Pass-through traps are traps that DFM receives from devices that are not in the DFM inventory, and DFM has not processed. Forwarding these traps is controlled using Configuration > Other Configurations > SNMP Trap Forwarding. These traps are shown in the Alerts and Activities display because of their relevance to fault monitoring. Pass-through traps are displayed as follows:
As one of the following events:
> InformAlarm
> MinorAlarm
> MajorAlarm
With the device type and the device name from which it was generated.
If DFM does not know which device generated the trap, it ignores the trap. Pass-through traps will be cleared after a default interval of 10 minutes to one hour

If you do have any apps that are sold on subscription basis, you can manage that subscription by going to iTunes > Store > View My Account > Settings > Subscriptions > Manage.
I have never seen an app similar to what you have purchased which was not just "pay-once". I think Google Translate does the same thing for free even.
